Guest Reviews
- ERNEST (10/5): Great small town motel. Wish there were more like - It is wonderful to support a good small town motel, that is clean and comfortable, and quiet, and walk in patio doors from the parking lot.
- Marcy (10/5): Good - Good hotel to stay at.
- Radine (6/5): - We probably will never stay there again.
- PAUL (10/5): - It was spotlessly clean , quiet , and close to nearby things we wanted to do
- Christopher (6/5): - It’s a $100/night hotel. Doesn’t smell bad. The AC works. You’ll be just fine.
- Glenn (8/5): - Ce is outdated for sure , but the staff is accommodating and friendly and the place is clean.
- Brittany (8/5): - Staff was very kind and helpful.
Bed was comfy and I liked the pillows.
For a motel this was a good room. Fridge, microwave and coffee maker all worked.
- MARLIN (10/5): - Very clean, nice firm beds, excellent supper club next door.
- Brent (2/5): No thank you..! - Walked in the room, smelled like mold. Tossed the keys on the counter and left...
- Jose (10/5): - Everything clean
- Michael (10/5): - They are updating. Only had contact when checking in. Room was clean everything worked.
- Dan (8/5): - Very serviceable. Reasonably priced. Towels could be updated.
- John (10/5): - Very nice. Our room close to hiway a little noisy but would expect that. Overall we were pleased with the room and the location.
- William (8/5): Love the Area! - Very happy with our stay. Room was out dated but clean. i would definitely stay again!
- Andrew (10/5): - Restaurants in parking lot
- Lisa (8/5): - Very accommodating and quiet.
It is an older facility and the bathroom could use upgrading.
- David (10/5): - Hotel met our needs. Was a nice setting. Everything was clean and staff was friendly.
- Jason (10/5): - A nice clean facility reasonably priced.
- Joseph (10/5): - Very friendly staff for check-in rooms were clean wonderful restaurant next to the hotel
- Heidi (10/5): - Loved my stay at Old Towne! The restaurant next door was classic and delectable. The rooms and view gave a rural homey feel with the silos from the farm next door. The only thing I would change is having bathtubs instead of showers in the rooms, but the place had so many other redeemable qualities that it is not a big deal. Complimentary morning beverages in the lobby (coffee, hot cocoa).
- Mark (10/5): - I liked that it was quiet and relaxing.
- Byron (8/5): - Clean, comfortable, and convenient. Great restaurant next door.
- Todd J (10/5): Give it a try - For a not mainstream motel it was nice. Price was right, service was good, it was clean. I'd stay again.
- Kristi (6/5): - The room & bathroom were clean and met our needs.
- Jim (8/5): Good place to stay! - Clean, comfortable, quiet and reasonable price!
- Maureen (8/5): Good Choice and Value - We were very pleased with our room re cleanliness, space, comfort (bed and pillows), ease of access to room, affordability, and quiet; however, there was limited parking space (lot almost full by evening), water pressure and hot water in shower (not a long one!), and front desk coverage (no staff present at Sunday AM checkout, 4 room keys left on counter unattended). Overall, tho, this facility is a good choice for the area, and we would stay here again.
- Mrs.a (8/5): - Quaint hotel, clean but if arrive at night no street sign or light directing us to the driveway for the hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): thanks - Very clean. Continental breakfast needs some work. Cereal was stale. Butter was frozen. Couldn’t tell the hotel guests from the hotel staff. But all in all it was cute for a small motel.
- Isabella (8/5): 10/10 Would Stay Again - Amazing customer service, the owners were very polite and always checked to make sure we were comfortable with our room. Would definitely come again, the only issue was the bed wasn’t the most comfiest but overall good enough :)
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was clean, but had a terrible smell. Needs to be completely renovated. Rip off for $98 per night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Sam, the owner, has&is up grading the motel. New beds, pillows, furniture & more. He is gracious and proud of his new purchase. It is small and comfortable. Price is right,& he allows dogs too.
Next door, is a good rest.
- Mark (8/5): - Served our purpose well, the staff was courteous and professional. Rooms were very clean and well maintained... I will most certainly return for another stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice room, friendly staff. Great location
The new owners are doing a great job updating the hotel
- Verified traveler (10/5): - friendly service, good price and had all I needed. Had microwave and refrigerator and the room was clean.
- GMB (10/5): - Close to many streams for fly fishing, Quiet and comfortable . greta food next door.
- TRACI (10/5): Clean - Very clean very nice staff will say again
- Ana (8/5): - Owners very nice and have great service. Property was in good condition. Could use some updates. Was in a good location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was fine for a quick overnite stay.
They even had a complimentary breakfast, though it was very limited.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pretty good value...clean, comfortable, quiet, convenient
- Katie (8/5): - Very friendly staff, nice that breakfast was provided!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Super nice staff in the morning. We had a broke down motorcycle and they let us check out late and use their telephone.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good place to stay for the price.Like that they had a microwave, refrigerator & coffee maker in the room.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It's been around, but was clean and had great pillows. Close to the Trout fishing and had a great restaurant next door.
The proprietor thought I was there for 1 night instead of 2 and gave me different room with 2 beds when I had booked a solo. He then charged me 15 bucks more. I could hardly understand him, so I got checked in and will dispute the extra charge with my credit card company.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The beds and pillows where comfy. I also enjoyed the breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Service was excellent, very pleasant and accommodating. Room was lovely.
Carpeting in hallways needs to be replaced.
Breakfast was not something we wished to stay for. We went elsewhere.
- Scott (8/5): Nice stay for a cheap price - The room was a little musty so we had to buy some Febreze to freshen it up but other than that it was a very enjoyable and comfortable stay.
- Cathleen (10/5): Great find - Older motel in great condition. Quiet and comfortable
- Carol (10/5): Recommend this place and the town of Westby - Very accommodating to us! We were there for a week and our room was kept perfectly and any request was addressed promptly and kindly! Photos are the view from Motel😁
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We can't say enough about the Old Towne Motel. We booked our stay on the 11th hour while we were traveling and were just looking for someplace affordable to sleep for the night. For the price we had a king sized bed, kitchen with sink, stove, oven, microwave and even sliding glass doors. The room was huge. We liked the fact that it didn't have the appearance of all the other cookie cutter hotels. We absolutely could not beat the price and highly recommend it!!!!
- Owen (8/5): Clean and Comfortable - Very clean - good beds. We were there for just a few hours to catch some sleep. Would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked the pancake making machine. Nice breakfast. Clean comfortable room. Friendly staff. Convenient location. Nice view. Walking distance to the supper club next door.
- Verified traveler (8/5): No Nonsense - pretty average hotel, with a great location and a great supper club next door
- Michael (8/5): A Pleasant Surprise - Used as a home base for a long weekend of fishing the local trout streams. Was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room, especially considering the price. While some of the furniture and appliances could be considered dated, the room was very comfortable and extremely clean and well kept. Super fast wi-fi, and very convenient to either Westby or Viroqua. I will definitely stay again if in the area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Solid motel - Solid motel. Conveniently located near the main road and right next to a restaurant. You get what you pay for. Comfortable room that is a dated but solid. The wifi seemed to be swift. The staff was very nice and accommodating.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - No experience in rating properties, not sure how to do that
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location is great for fishing. next store is a great restaurant.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I thought it would be a very clean old school kind of motel with fair price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We were treated very cordially. Our room was large and well furnished. Right across the parking lot is Old Towne Inn Supper Club, which has excellent food.
- Dianne (6/5): Modest accommodation - Bathroom could have been cleaner. TV remote did not work. But it was a quiet place to stay for a reasonable price.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Price is Right - We needed a place to stay locally while we were dealing with flooding at home. This is a good, basic, no frills place. Clean. Older thin sheet and towels. Staff kind. No daily room cleaning. Thankful for the cereal, frozen waffles, donuts, coffee and juice for breakfast. Nice to have a microwave and fridge in the room. Wifi worked well.
- Verified traveler (6/5): :( not recommended - Young women at check-in didn't seem very knowledgeable. :(
Room was cold when we came in, and after having the heater on for a while, it was OK. HOWEVER, it was SUPER loud and very hard to sleep with all that racket. Contributing to the noise in the room was the VERY loud refrigerator that also never shut of all night. Road noise and train noise in the distance was another factor for a night of LITTLE sleep. The beds were also hard. The cleaning had left a bit to be desired as well as old little pieces of soap were left on a top ledge of the shower from a previous guest and not cleaned up by the housekeeping service. We also checked in around 6:00pm, and there was STILL a massive amount of crumbs and debris left on the breakfast bar table. :( Check-out guy was nice, though.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Property was a bit older, but very clean. Room was clean and bed was good quality.
- Terry (10/5): Ye - Alright
- Terry (10/5): - Excellent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Turkey. In was ve rrd y quick and because of the small size, it was vefy quite.
- Steven (6/5): Not bad, but not exceptional. - Motel is right next to a farm with cows. (Not a bad thing, just interesting) How to get to your room (all interior hallway doors) is a little confusing. You can go through the lobby, or the door in the back across from the lobby. Other outside doors are locked. Ice machine not working on this visit. Maybe there was another one, I didn't really look for it. Room was hot and took a while to get down to a comfortable temperature. It was snowing outside and I had to turn on the air conditioner and open a window. Room itself was clean and was fine. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, but I would try another place if I didn't need to be right in Westby. If the price, however, was higher somewhere else, I would go back to Old Towne without hesitation.
- Mark (4/5): Better places in La Crosse - Very basic room with chairs that were terribly worn seats making them uncomfortable. Breakfast was less than basic; not even any tea bags.
- Mark (6/5): Adequate - Thumbs up on the beds and the cleanliness of the rooms. Overall the hotel needs just some serious TLC and a welcoming attitude. Would have given it a 3.5 if I could have.
- t (10/5): Review of Old Towne Motel - Very nice owners!
- Denise (10/5): Clean and quiet! - Very clean. We were just passing through, so just needed a good nights sleep after a long day of riding a motorcycle. Friendly owners!
- Verified traveler (4/5): not good - heater smelled bad, room smelled bad, mold on shower curtain, load refrigerator, dirty chairs
- Steve (6/5): - It was clean, room was adequate for what we needed for one night.
- Michael (8/5): Good, solid motel - Decent place to stay near Viroqua. Hotel is basic, but staff is friendly and the rates are reasonable. Honestly we used the room to sleep and little besides that.
- Kent (10/5): Clean and comfy! - Very clean and comfortable family-run motel. No frills but they have everything you need for a good stay! Friendly and kind service!
- MaryJoyce (10/5): - Front desk gentlemen friendly and very helpful of needs. We have stayed here many times and always found it to be very clean, and meets
all our needs, great mattresses and pillows. Great price.
- Karen (8/5): - Very clean and plenty spacious. Kind and friendly host. Stayed after the Driftless Festival and it was perfect.
- Jessica (8/5): Great staff and more than suitable for price - The location is great, right off of major road. Parking is abundant and check in was easy. The staff was very pleasant and efficient. The room was very clean. It was quiet worth the low price overall. Would stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Could upgarade continental breakfast. Other than that a good experience and no complaints.
- Elle (10/5): Very nice and I love it - 3 beds including the hide a bed couches great for forts. Right next to a restaurant. Sliding door.)hbbhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh)hhgvbhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhbjbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb/bbbbbbbbvbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbvvvbbbbbbbbvbvvvvbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbjb
- Ron (10/5): Great Room -- Especially Considering the Price - Of course it wasn't thee-star luxury, but more that what we expected. Spacious, clean, nicely decorated. The free breakfast was minimal (like ours at home), but for those who want more the restaurant across the parking lot is reported to have great food.
- Jessica (10/5): Will stay again. - We have stayed here before when visiting family. It was nice to have a bunch of us staying here so we could visit after our event. Having the bar/restaurant right next door is always a bonus for night time activity if desired.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Stay away - We checked out 15 minutes after checking in. Police were there on a call. One officer suggested we probably wouldn't want to walk around the hotel because of the people who tend to "mingle" there at night
- Verified traveler (8/5): - VERY NICE MOTEL, BED WAS VERY COMFORTABLE STAFF WAS VERY NICE
- Debbie (8/5): convenient - helpful staff, convenient location for the wedding reception we attended
- Lori (8/5): - Very nice- great spot for the rate. Great restaurant next door!
- Eli (8/5): An Oldie not a Goldie but clean - The bed was extremely hard which made it difficult for us to sleep. It was as hard as the floor. The snoring from the room next door did not help. They have very thin walls between rooms.
The continental breakfast was horrible on our first morning. The fruit was old and bruised like I felt after a night on the extremely hard mattress. The second morning was OK with edible fruit. There was no half and half for coffee which was surprising since we were in the Dairy state. They could certainly improve their offerings.
There was a small table and two chairs, and the room was clean. The water pressure was great, and the walk-in shower a pleasant surprise for an older motel. It was good to have the microwave and refrigerator for my own half and half. I NEED that in the morning.
Good food at the Old Towne restaurant across the parking lot, but I don't know if the two are affiliated.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice, quiet motel. - Three night stay at the typical older roadside motel. Has been updated with current amenities, WIFI, fridge, and microwave in rooms. Very clean, staff very hospitable.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - I only stayed one night, but they were very accommodating! I had a nice little fridge in my room, which was great because I needed it. The staff was very friendly, and when I wasn't able to get into my room because the locks were very old and I wasn't used to them, one of them showed me how to get in in a very friendly and explanatory manner.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great motel - Great small towne place and good food next door.
- Sue (8/5): Decent place for low cost. - Overall, the place was clean and a good place to stay for the price. The person who serviced was gracious and helpful. I was glad I brought my own pillow. Breakfast did not meet my expectations, so I ate elsewhere.
- Verified traveler (4/5): shabby - Clean room, but shabby. Outside very unkept with weeds taking over the rock mulch, old kitchen chairs right by the windows, cracking asphalt.
- Linda (8/5): Old Towne in a small town - We had a corner room that was extremely spacious and comfortable. Only downside was the mattress, just OK. Continental bkfast was minimal. But no worries, a very nice restaurant in the town less than a mile down the road
- Jackie (8/5): No frills but just fine for our stay. - Perfectly comfortable, and the staff was quite polite and helpful. There is a farm across the road but wouldn't have known it was there if we had not seen it. Supper club just a few steps away. Motel offered a very basic continental breakfast. No pool, but that was OK as we were just passing through and the price was right. AC worked so we were satisfied.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very good for the money
- Jay (8/5): Good enuf - Quiet and clean. That's all I expected and that's what I got.
- Harald (8/5): - This was the best available under the circumstances. No complaints.
- Jerry (10/5): - We love everything just as it is and hope you do not change anything.
- Carol (8/5): Very Nice Place To Stay - Very Nice Place To Stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place to stay in northwest WI - As a single, elderly woman, I very much enjoyed my stay. I felt safe & comfortable in my clean & spacious room. The supper club next door was fantastic. I have already recommended the motel to family & friends.
- Mike (10/5): fishing trip - I have been staying at this hotel for a couple decades. I was pleasantly surprised to see our room was fully remodeled with a new bathroom, beds, microwave and newly painted. It was very comfortable and quiet for our two nights there.
