Guest Reviews
- Carol (4/5): - Spotless linen and towels. Breakfast lovely. Staff delightful and so so helpful but suddenly jobless. I was advised it was shutting within 3 days so had to walk to sister hotel 5 minutes away for breakfast. Shared toilet and shower with 2 other rooms. Room very cold at night so cleaner gave me an electric radiator from another room. This property needs a lot of fuel
Injection to bring it up to standard. Staff worked hard and were brilliant but the hotel was damp, scruffy and certainly seen better days. Sharing bathroom and toilet with up to 5-6 other people unacceptable. I used facilities with people I went to visit. The owner needs lessons in keeping staff morale up !
- Dale (10/5): Service with a smile. Lovely people. - I loved the Turf hotel. We were late arriving but the young lady stayed on site until we arrived. That alone is worthy of a good review. The room was fine, a little run down but certainly not a problem. The bedding was fantastic, plenty of pillows and a lovely warm duvet. We were only there briefly, we left straight after breakfast (which was really nice). Everybody we spoke to was super happy & helpful. I think we'll be back in the area soon and the Turf will be my first phone call for accommodation.
- gareth (10/5): - Ideal location, within easy walking distance of all local facilities. Breakfast was great and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay
- Diane (10/5): - The property was just great the staff was very friendly and helpful the room spot on couldnt wish for anything better and the breakfast was excellent if we go to Richmond again we will definitely stay at the TURF HOTEL GREAT
- Simon (8/5): - Easy access by foot to everything within Richmond. Nice cooked breakfast. They were also kind enough to provide me a take-away butty when I had to leave before their normal breakfast time.
- Michael (8/5): - We have stayed here before
- Paul (8/5): - Nice breakfast and nice service
- Claire (8/5): - Great friendly staff who allowed us to check in a little early on arrival day and store our suitcase until later upon checkout. Lovely breakfast cooked to order. Only quibble is that the hotel is very old and tired and the flush on the toilet is terrible - you literally have to pump it until you eventually get a flush of some kind. But otherwise a central, quiet location with clean towels and bedding. Will stay again.
- Simon (10/5): - We stayed for 1 night in a family room, the pub is conveniently situated just off the market place. All of the staff that we encountered were lovely and were very helpful. I asked if we could check in early as we had a booking at Forbidden Corner and the gentleman was more than happy to accommodate this request. The room, although old was very bright and spacious with a double and a single bed, each with fresh towels and complimentary toiletries which was a pleasure surprise. There was also a kettle and drinks tray and plenty of space for clothing. The ensuite although old was perfectly acceptable with a good powerful shower. Breakfast was excellent with cereals, juices, tea and coffee, freshly cooked full English breakfast and toast. All in all, for the price which we paid The Turf was excellent value for money, and we will be back!

- Verified traveler (8/5): All life’s essentials - All life's essentials and a nice comfy bed.
Staff helpful and welcoming.
Parking potentially tricky and not quite adjacent to the hotel.
Rooms need a little love perhaps, (it’s not a new building after all!) but I’d be happy to stay again. Really handy for town centre, castle etc.
Bargain price, so no complaints!
- Donna (10/5): - Great staff and lovely surroundings. Plenty of in room items to help make our stay better - tea, coffee and biscuits. Iron and ring board, hairdryer.
- Richard (10/5): - The Turf hotel was a lovely place to stay with lovely food. Staff could not do enough. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.
- Kelly (10/5): Weekend away - The turf hotel was lovely, our room view was of the street which had a park over the road, the staff were friendly, hubby's only little grumble was the shower is a bit small and brekkie could of been a bit more, I enjoyed it and would recommend

Lovely, welcoming staff
- Jane (2/5): - I arrived to find out I had to park a mile away and pay, had to walk from the car park in the rain to the hotel. Not stated on website ! Also I was told I had to share a bathroom again news to me, it was very dirty. Toilet seat broken disgusting. Noise what sounded like tables being dragged along very late at night. The heating left in all night absolutely sweating all night couldn’t sleep. Never again would I stay there
- Carmen Dolores (10/5): - I enjoyed everything about Turf! The people were wonderful and made on the spot corrections as requested, there were only three. Food was delicious and fresh every morning. Always quiet and restful. Rooms were cozy. More people should know about this hotel and utilize it because they would truly enjoy it!!

Saturday afternoon/evening got a bit busy in the bar and pretty loud but its a pub and its a Saturday before Christmas so cant complain.
