• Axel (8/5): - Die Ausstattung der Unterkunft mit Oldtimern hat viel Charme, ein Oryx kam bis in die Nähe unseres Zimmers. Der Pool ist angenehm groß, das Abendessen war gut (in der Einsamkeit aber auch alternativlos), es gibt am Empfang ein kleines Souvenirgeschäft. Trotzdem empfanden wir die Lodge, auch im Verhältnis zu anderen Unterkünften auf unserer Namibia-Rundreise, als zu teuer, zumal das W-LAN im Zimmer sehr schlecht war. Die Unterkunft wurde während unseres Aufenthalts auch von Reisegruppen genutzt. Guter Ausgangspunkt für den Besuch des Fish River Canyon.
• Nathaly (10/5): - Eine sehr schöne Unterkunft, die durch ihre Gestaltung einzigartig wird! Sehr kurzer Weg zum Fish River Canyon, sodass wir den Sonnenuntergang in Ruhe vor Ort genießen konnten. Das Servicepersonal ist sehr aufmerksam und hat immer ein Lächeln auf den Lippen!

• Diana (10/5): Great place to stay close to the canyon - Quirky, delightful motel in the middle of nowhere but able to provide nearly all modern comforts. Only thing missing was a tv in the room but I didn't miss it. Restaurant was excellent. Beds were very hard. Good hot shower. Having visited Ai Ais, I was very glad we were staying at the Roadhouse.

• Eric (10/5): Origineel verblijf - Mooi verblijf ingericht als een soort van Amerikaans wegrestaurant. De kamers zijn klein maar smaakvol ingericht met een mooie badkamer. Het eten in het restaurant is van heel goede kwaliteit. Als ik 2 minpuntjes moet geven is het voor de bedden en de WiFi. De matrassen waren beenhard en op de plaats waar de beddenbodem moest liggen, lag een plank! 300 MB internet verbruik per persoon is te weinig en meer van deze tijd.

Comfortable accommodation, great food, and everything that you could need were available, including fuel for vehicles. Highly recommended, and we would definitely stay there again.

• Gabriele (10/5): Tolle Lodge in der Nähe des Gate zum Fish Canyon! - Sehr freundliches und bemühtes Personal, kostenloses Upgrade, stylische Zimmer und der ganzen Lodge, sehr gutes Frühstück und Dinner a la Card, absolut empfehlenswert! Bis zum Hoba Gate ca 10-15 Min Fahrtzeit, die sich auf jeden Fall lohnen! Es gibt auch eine schöne Campsite!

Überall alte Sammlerstücke, die mit Autos und Strassenverkehr zu tun haben. Schönes ruhiges Zimmer, sehr bequeme Betten, geräumiges Badezimmer. Sehr nette Angestellte. Frühstück war im Preis enthalten und reichhaltig. Abendessen a la carte auch in Ordnung. Ca. 30 Kilometer zum Fishriver-Canyon

Manko: Wifi hat einen Tag gar nicht funktiobiert und an dem anderen hatte man ein limit was direkt aufgebraucht war. Das war auch für namibische Verhältnisse etwas dürftig.

On aurait aimé avoir été prévenu que les prises ne fournissaient plus d'électricité à partir d'une certaine heure; ça peut se comprendre puisque c'est alimenté par panneaux solaires mais ça surprend quand les lampes de chevet s'éteignent d'un coup. On n'a jamais eu les 2 grandes serviettes demandées à l'accueil puisqu'elles manquaient dans la chambre (il y en avait des petites) : un service pas au top pour une chambre par ailleurs confortable et agréable. Bon buffet de petit déjeuner.
• Verified traveler (10/5): Pleasant stay in a memorable property - Pleasant stay at a quirky property. The hotel felt a bit like a car museum; a lot of very interesting older vehicles with great patina and history. The room itself was clean, modern, and well decorated. Solid breakfast, nice staff.
• Verified traveler (10/5): - Schöne große Zimmer. Vielfältige Speisekarte, auch mit kleinen Gerichten, gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis beim Essen. Es gibt viele alte Autos und andere alte Dinge zu bestaunen. Tolle Lage, nur wenige Kilometer vom Fish River Canyon entfernt.
• Eckhard (8/5): Außergewöhnliches Design mit viel Liebe zum Detail - Eine außergewöhnliche Lodge eingerichtet mit sehr viel Liebe zum Detail. Der Architekt/Designer hat hier hervorragende Arbeit geleistet. Leider kommt man im Betrieb den sehr hohen Ansprüchen der Gondwana Corp. nicht ganz mit. Aus dem Duschkopf kommt überall Wasser, nur nicht aus den Düsen. Verkalkung durch Abrubbeln schnell entfernt und die Überwurfmutter mit der Hand kräftig angezogen. Schon ist das Problem gelöst und man hat eine perfekte Dusche. Man ist eben in Afrika. Andererseits: wieso kriegt das kein anderer Gast hin? Wir können die Lodge uneingeschränkt empfehlen und würden hier sofort wieder buchen.

Die Rezeption befindet sich in einem alten Lastwagen, die Bar ist die Tankstelle etc. Völlig außergewöhnlich und witzige Idee! Muss man gesehen und erlebt haben. Essen und Service sehr gut! Zimmer zweckmäßig und sauber! Gute Lage, nur ca. 20 km zum Fishriver Canyon

Had a wonderful swim after many long hot hours on the gravel roads and the accommodation was excellent. Food very tasty and good breakfast. Would recommend this establishment to all my friends and family.
• Verified traveler (8/5): - Die Lage zum Fishriver-Canyon ist wirklich gut. Die Anlage ist mit den Oldtimern außergewöhnlich und sehr ansprechend gestaltet. Der Service lässt aber sehr zu wünschen übrig, der Empfang an der Rezeption war sehr unfreundlich, man hat sich nicht die Mühe gemacht, uns zum Zimmer zu begleiten. Am zweiten Tag war das Zimmer am Spätnachmittag noch nicht gereinigt, die Reklamation wurde mit Murren entgegengenommen; dass der Chef uns dann abends die Kosten für das Dinner erließ war immerhin etwas. Das Frühstück und das Essen im Restaurant ist an sich aber sehr gut. Leider ist der Service im Restaurant und auch beim Frühstück nicht optimal, es gibt sehr viel bemühtes Personal, das um einen herumwuselt, aber es ist völlig unorganisiert, so dass man gelegentlich doch auf vieles lange warten musste. Was uns überhaupt nicht gefallen hat, ist die meistens sehr laute Popmusik im Restaurant, das passt nach unserem Geschmack einfach nicht in die freie Natur der Umgebung und auch nicht zum Konzept von Gondwana. In anderen Häusern dieser Kette sind wir bei weitem besser umsorgt worden, hier stimmt das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis einfach nicht. Für ca. 160 Euro pro Nacht kann man einfach mehr Service erwarten.
• Bev (10/5): Close to Fish River canyon - We enjoyed our stay here so much. The lodge is uniquely decorated with old cars and vintage memorabilia which makes it a photographers dream. The splendid Fish River canyon is very close with magnificent views from many viewpoints and walks.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Travel Back in Time - Finding it was pretty easy and really liked the "old west" feel with all the old cars and signs, however I found the rooms to be a little understated. The wifi did not work and the woman at the reception could have been a lot friendlier. We had booked the room on line and after being unable to find our reservation and repeatedly asking if I had one even after showing her the e-mail room confirmation, she finally gave up and thrust a room key at me. Didn't understand her attitude especially when only 3 rooms of 20+ were occupied that evening. The rest of the staff was accommodating and friendly.

• Glynys (8/5): An unusual find - This gem is utterly unusual for anywhere, let alone Namibia. The staff were helpful and accommodating. The roadhouse is filled with old motoring memorabilia which is fascinating. There is a restaurant with good coffee and food. The rooms are basic but comfortable with good ensuites. There is even an oryx which visits the garden!
• Anna (8/5): Desert Shelter - Great desert retreat, 30 k from the canyon lookouts lookouts. Organised tours start from the sister property Canyon Lodge, 20 k down the road. Good value when you consider the remote location.
