Guest Reviews
- Jeremy (10/5): - The cabin was very nice.Cozy and clean
- Scott (10/5): Last minute getaway to the mountains - We had a fantastic stay and really enjoyed our tiny cabin. The hosts were nice and friendly and the place was very comfortable and exactly as described. We would definitely come back!
- Kelly (10/5): Fantastic! - Fantastic trip! Stayed 2 nights and wished we could stay longer! The cabin was very clean and comfortable. The property was wooded and so quiet. We didn't expect to wake up to snow and feel like temp of 7 degrees, but the cabin was warm, cozy, and dry. Will definitely recommend to others and will be back! Thanks for the memories Bear Cabin!
- Allen (10/5): - What a neat little find! My son and I wanted to see snow and go tubing near the mountains. They have two really cool cabins so there’s a lot of privacy and a beautiful location in the forest. Highly recommend.
- Leslie (10/5): - Great in every way. Quiet, cozy, and convenient to area towns. We would definitely stay again.
- Terry (10/5): - very nice cabin, not for small kids because steep hill side climb to cabin..for us it was a great experience,,
- Stefanie (10/5): - Was a beautiful quiet space the North Carolina mountains are absolutely breathtaking
- Maryann (6/5): - Tough to find no sign just a street number nothing I could find letting me know that you had to walk up a gravel path to get into the cabin I have problems walking
- Maryann (6/5): - Tough to find. No sign just a street number. Tried calling with no answer just a non discript message on the phone. Had no idea that access to the cabin was a steep climb up a gravel path and half a flight of steps into the cabin. Once in the cabin it was nice and comfortable. We are in our 70's and if we knew that we wouldn't have booked this place.
- Annunziata (10/5): - Small but perfect for 2. Clean, decorated nice, included all needed necessities. Would highly recommend.
- emmett (8/5): - A peaceful environment
Close to Mast General Store
Clean
Not recommend for elderly due to access
Gutter Uber porch overflows because it is clogged up
- Sharon (10/5): - Property and cabin were well maintained. Cabin was very cute inside. Not for anyone with disabilities however as walk way is a bit steep for them.
- Steven (10/5): - Really enjoyed the Bear Cabin. Peaceful and quiet. It was well stocked, clean and comfortable. Even the fold out sofa bed was very comfortable! Highly recommend this place. Owner was super friendly too.
- Riley (2/5): - People have cameras to watch you an take your money with no reason
- Kathrine (10/5): - Quaint, rustic and well cared for property. Was conveniently located to all of the places I needed to be.
- Dan (8/5): - It was a convenient location for our our trip.
Steep climb to get to the cabin from parking area.
- Christopher (10/5): - Nuthouse Cabin was exactly as advertised: clean, compact but efficient layout, and property was super-quiet. Communication with the property owner was outstanding throughout the rental process. Great experience!
- Marian (8/5): - Was a hike to get to nut house from where you parked.
Needed a peeler from potatoes otherwise everything good
- Joshua (10/5): - Great place to stay. Very clean and quiet. Cabin is small and perfect for two people. We stayed in the Nut House. The bathroom is very clean but very small. If you are much over 6 foot or 200lbs the shower is going to be a tight fit. Not an issue but something to consider. Overall it was a great cabin to stay in.
- Sarah (10/5): - My husband and I stayed at the farm for our wedding anniversary. It was such an enjoyable experience. We stayed at the NutHouse up on the hill. It was a bit of a walk but worth it for a scenic view and a quiet getaway. This is the perfect place for a weekend getaway. 10/10 recommend.
- Wade (10/5): - Quaint quiet cabins. Well maintained.
- Leanne (10/5): - I had The Nut Cabin all to myself-very comfortable with all the needed essentials.
The hike up to the cabin from the parking lot was a challenge but the owners have a well maintained and fully lite gravel pathway that gave my legs a workout every dayđź’—
I highly recommend this fabulous cabin -it was a wonderful weekend! I look forward to staying there again!
- Bruce (10/5): - Very quaint and quiet. Close to Boone and lots of great hiking. Just there for a one night getaway and a beautiful Sunday hike! We would happily return.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not as advertised - The property was not as advertised. It was a lot smaller than described. No separate bedroom with door. Ran out of toilet paper and hot water. Could not get in touch with the owner after multiple calls. The shower was almost impossible to shower in because it was so small. The walk from the parking lot to the unit was 75 yards up a very steep rocky incline. Not fun carrying all our luggage and ski equipment back and forth. You also needed an SUV to get up the very steep driveway. None of this was mentioned in the description.
- Nathaniel (10/5): - Very nice cabin for a weekend getaway near Boone and Banner Elk. Very friendly hosts!
- Ricardo (10/5): Cabin in the woods - Amazon cabin nestled in the middle of the mountains. Comfortable bed. Quiet
Environment
- Faron (10/5): - When we arrived we were greeted by a very kind fellow on the front porch of the main house, (sorry I did not get his name) The cabin we stayed in was the Nuthouse, it was cozy , charming, inviting and clean. The owners keep it very well maintained. If you have the chance I can not recommend this location enough. its a bout a 30-35 min drive to Blowing Rock.
- Sarah (10/5): - Fantastic place to stay! Quiet and secluded while only being a 15 min from downtown Boone. Cabin is the perfect size for an overnight stay!
- Matthew (10/5): Great totally worth it - This place was an amazing little getaway with lots of character.
- MARY ANN (8/5): - The cabin was up a steep incline, gravel pathway while well lit provided a challenge navigating in the dark. Bed was very comfortable. We did not utilize the eating area.
- Randolph (10/5): - Wonderful customer service.
- Billy (10/5): - Very quiet and somewhat secluded. Only down side I’d say is the drive way to get up to the cabin is VERY steep. It was a struggle to get up there with our Toyota Corolla
- Linda (10/5): - I loved the peaceful setting away from town and people. The wooded setting was superb! The cabin was well stocked and comfortable! There was nothing that I disliked!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved the peaceful setting away from town and people. The wooded setting was superb! The cabin was well stocked and comfortable! There was nothing that I disliked!
- Brandon (10/5): - Location was perfect, host was awesome enjoyed staying at this great little cabin
- Karen (10/5): Absolutely Amazing! - Our stay was absolutely amazing! The host was very nice. Our cabin was very clean and had all the amenities that you would need for a peaceful and cozy stay!
- Jake (10/5): - We stayed from July 2nd to July 4th and had a great time. The cabin was very clean, dry inside, smelled nice, and had everything that we needed. The dog (Tulip?) was so sweet and reminded me of my dog growing up. We spent our nights on the porch and were dry even when a summer storm came through. We got some of the best sleep we've had lately, and it was a real get away. The town around the cabin is very nice as well and we explored somewhere new each day including hiking up Grandfather Mountain. I highly recommended this place to anyone looking to get away from the city or just looking for a new place to go.
- Nancy (2/5): - the property listed below COMPLETELY mis - represented itself, then offered and in fact promised a full refund, then not only did NOT give a refund but also charged an extra $150 for no reason that we can see and with no warning, as well as the $225 they charged us. Meanwhile we also had to pay someone to reattach the bumper that their road took off …
We spoke with the wife of the two person team and she said that her husband had already put the full refund through, which apparently was a huge lie.
She also said that their site said very clearly that four wheel drive was needed at all times to get up to the cabin …
No it does not say that - you look for yourselves …
Now that I have found the place for the review it the lowest possible with these comments…
and tomorrow I will be labeling both charges as fraud with my bank and asking them to deny payment or recover payments
- sergio (10/5): - SĂşper nice place, highly recommended
- Jonathan (10/5): - It was a perfect little quant getaway. Beautiful & comfy.
- Stewart (8/5): - Need more silverware, dishes, etc. Also noisy ac unit, cobwebs all over the front porch
- EDYTA (10/5): - This cabin is small but very cozy. If you don’t need fancy ,just cozy and perfect that’s the place to stay. We loved it!!!
- Aliette (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay. The property was peaceful and clean. Perfect for a couple. Would definitely stay again.
- samantha (10/5): - Great cozy cabin. Very nice at check in
- Malissa (10/5): - This was the best cabin by far we have stayed in! We loved it so much. It’s on our top places to stay in Boone. Highly recommend staying here!
- Christa (10/5): - Stayed in the Nut house. Very comfortable and quiet. Love the cabin. Will be back.
- Jeffrey (2/5): Terrible - Horrible stay. Shower couldn’t even fit our 8yr old child. Cabin is for one person only. Tv didn’t work and they are horrible hosts.
- Sara (4/5): - We enjoyed our stay at the cabin and made sure we completed the list of things to do upon our departure. However we were charged $40 because we accidentally dropped a cheap glass and it broke, and apparently a slightly dirty washcloth. Unreal! We left the place very clean after and we were extremely disappointed after this charge. We will no longer recommend this property to friends. I never leave reviews, but this really left a bad taste in my mouth!
- Debra (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable. Shower is small and the walk up to the cabin was long but very pleasant once you got there, will definitely stay here again will just try and get the lower cabin next time
- Randy (8/5): - Loved our stay except the walk up to the cabin from the parking.
- Sherry (8/5): Hidden Cabin in the mountain - It is a hidden cabin that even locals didn’t know about. We were here for the Baird Family Reunion. Only stayed 1 night. It was a little cramped for 4 people! It would of been perfect for just 2 people. I would recommend for a getaway.
- Sandra (10/5): Wonderful get away Cabin - It was such a nice cabin! Clean and very private. The owner was great! We had such a great time staying there
- Benjamin (8/5): - The property was in a central location and served as a hidden gem.
- Alanah (8/5): - The place was SO clean and cozy. Owners are nice and communicated wonderfully. However, it is unclear in booking how STEEP the nut house is. The bear cabin is great for everyone. If you book your stay at the nut hiuse, understand it is a hike from your car. Do not do not rent the nut hiuse if you’re elderly or have coolers or heavy luggage to bring up. Other than that, everything was wonderful. We felt super safe and loved the cleanliness and consideration for guests!!
- Michael (10/5): Paradise in the mountains - What an incredible stay. Great host and thoughtful touches.
- LINDA (10/5): - Very clean cabin with everything you need right in the cabin. Nice quiet getaway!
The only 2 things that might hinder someone is the Shower was small, a large person would not have a lot of room. The 1 bedroom cabin I rented was a slight incline up a hill and an older person might have problems carry their stuff up to the cabin.
- Shelley (8/5): Mixed bag - Um well it was a good stay but this place definitely has its ups and downs. The driveway is very steep to start, with loose gravel so we almost didn't make it up. Then they placed us in the cabin behind the other cabin, (so apparently its a shared driveway), and the walk up to our cabin was steep as well. So yes you're secluded from the woods but not the other cabin which is right in front of you very close. The cabin is very cute but cute is the best word because it is small. The shower, the doorway into the bathroom, both insanely small. We were 2 adults and 2 children and we were crammed in some areas of it. The kitchenette is a microwave and tiny fridge. I was hoping for at least a hot plate since most people cook at least one meal during a cabin stay but there's a toaster oven and that's it. When we arrived there were hundreds of gnats inside so we ran around trying to get rid of those. And the power....the power flickers off and on constantly in every room. Change the channel on the tv.... the power flickers...it was weird. They were nice but no I wouldn't stay there again.
- William (10/5): - Very quiet spot 👌
Close to boone and other attractions
- Terri (10/5): - Beautiful little country mountain cabin. Need good hiking shoes! Very peaceful!
- Jessica (10/5): Cozy Mountain Getaway - We loved every moment of our stay at Valle Crucis Farm! The cabin was so charming-beautifully decorated, comfortable, and peacefully tucked away in the mountains. It had everything needed for a longer stay. Check in was easy-the paperwork was left on the front porch with the access code to the door, and the host greeted us upon our arrival. The property is stunning-there is access to the creek for swimming, and a hiking trail to the top of the mountain right on the property. We would absolutely stay here again!
- Johnny (6/5): - Living room rug was soiled with dog pee.
Towels were old.
Rest of place was nice, though needs bigger kitchen area.
Johnny Wilson
- Bobby (10/5): Wonderful cabin getaway! - Very clean and organized instructions for check-in and check-out! Beautiful private cabin
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect Cabin in the Woods! - We just needed a quick, easy weekend getaway in the mountains. This little cabin in the woods was perfect and SO CLEAN AND WELL MAINTAINED! We will definitely be back!
- Brian (10/5): - Great little cabin in the woods for a
Quick getaway.
- Saleh (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful, clean wish we could stayed longer. Will go back for sure
- Verified traveler (8/5): - What I liked the most was that it was very quiet and private, yet still civilized. I only wish they would have had more mirrors in the cabin. Getting ready to go out for a family of 4 is hard with only one medicine cabin mirror.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great little cabin. Beautiful setting. No complaints!
- Patrick (10/5): Charming cabin near Grandfather mountain. - Charming cabin in heat location between Boone and Banner Elk. Hosts were great. The check in process was very easy and socially distant.
Would stay again
- Michael (8/5): Comfortable cabin with great character - The cabin was comfortable warm (nice electric log fire) accessible . WiFi worked well. Two floors although the loft was locked off (would have been nice to access that). Owner helpful and friendly. Only small minus point lack of a stove and kettle. We took a 1 ring camping stove and used that outside on the deck and took our own kettle so solved that.
- Tracy (10/5): Lovely cabin on a farm - We love this cabin. This was our second stay. Beautiful property, pleasant hosts, and convenient location, what more could you ask for?
- Matthew (10/5): Wonderful place to stay for a few nights. - Beautiful little cabin set back in the woods off the farm. A bunch of trails are very close. Close to a number of sightseeing areas. Very quiet and clean. Check-in was contactless and Alfredo was very attentive. Bear Cabin is perfect for 2 adults and 2 children.
- Alexandra (10/5): Cozy lovely cabin w a grill and porch and attic! - Lovely cozy cabin with an fun little attic for one which my kids took turns hiding at and sleeping. Wonderful that they also had a grill! We grilled a lot and set on a lovely porch outside. Weather permitting there is a lively table outdoors that you can enjoy you meals or talks. Perfect for family of 4 ! Thank you to their hospitality. I wish the weather would be better so we could have enjoyed walks around! Pretty area close to a lot of great destinations! We loved it!
- Jason (10/5): Wonderful stay at Valle Crucis Farm - We had a wonderful three night stay at our Bear Cabin at Valle Crucis Farm. The cabin was very clean and very well maintained and one can see that plenty of attention was put into the small details. It was perfect for our party of three as the loft included a twin bed and we had a queen size bed in the bedroom underneath.
When we first went into the cabin we felt that the pictures did not do justice to how beautiful the wooden inside of the cabin really is. A pleasant surprise! With Crab Orchard trail only a mile away and great Appalachian cuisine (Over Yonder) right down the street, Valle Crucis was the perfect summer mountain stay.We would love to return!
- Damien (10/5): Little piece of heaven! - Great, comfortable place in the mountains! Clean, cozy, and very well kept property.
- Beverly (10/5): - The cabin was very nice and super clean. The grounds were beautiful. We enjoyed our stay. Very small, but comfortable for two people.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very, very clean and I have high standards. I wish we could have stayed longer!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice cabin. Very clean . Perfect for a couple.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very quiet, very clean, only complaint, shower too small
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cute small cabin convenient location to Boone. People were very accommodating.
- Christina (10/5): - If you’re looking for a cute & clean place to stay these cabins are perfect. They are well stocked with supplies and super clean. They are located on private property and there aren’t really any maintained hiking trails, but the owners leave you to yourselves and it’s overall a very nice place to stay.
- Mary (10/5): - Beautiful cabin, a warm welcome, spotlessly clean, lovely decorations and linens. Beds were so comfortable. We loved the peaceful location, the forest, the gas bbq. A perfect cosy forest hideaway.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Charming and private. Exactly three type of cabin we were hoping for.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect for relaxing hiking and the cabin is quite comfortable with everything inside needed to have a easy going time. I recommend this place
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is the greatest place to relax and breath fresh air.
- Victor (10/5): Cabin - Small but comfortable place. Enjoyed.
- Andrew (10/5): - Great place to stay for the Boone, Banner Elk, and Blowing Rock area.
- faith (10/5): Awesome place! - So nice for a couples getaway! Nice quiet place with lots of privacy. Extremely clean and super cute!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This property was unique and tucked away from the norm.
- Anthony (10/5): - Wonderful stay! Cabin was very clean. Owners were attentive to all details and location was great. We would definitely stay there again!
- Lisa (10/5): - We stayed in Nut House, and if you are able to climb up the steep walkway it is more than worth it. You are up in the trees, beautiful views from every window and the front porch is wonderful for sitting in the evening and early morning. The craftsmanship of the cabin is amazing and it is just the right size for a couple. The grounds are very well kept and lit, the cabin was perfectly clean and well appointed. The location is just right, easy to Boone, Banner Elk and all the restaurants and activities.
- Melinda (10/5): STAY HERE! - Stay Here! If you are looking for a quiet, private, beautiful get away, stay here! The owners take pride in their grounds and they are SO welcoming! Waking up to the sweet dogs on the porch of our wonderful little cabin we just icing on the cake to us. We loved exploring the grounds and enjoyed the horses and beautiful, cool water! We couldn't have asked for more. Our cabin was private, exceptionally clean, wi-fi connection was great, bed was extra comfy! What more can I say??? Will we be back!? We're already planning our next trip and are even considering it for our daughter's wedding venue in 2020!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The space was smaller than we expected but the owners were nice.
- Angela (10/5): Lovely little cabin - Lovely grounds.. lovely cabin.. not enough coffee, would have liked to be able to brew more.. and would have liked a stove in the kitchenette to cook on... but overall very nice
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great! Clean! Awesome cabin!
- R (10/5): Cute cabin! - We loved our stay and really appreciate the kind help from the owner!
- Traci (10/5): Cozy and beautiful - My husband and I loved our stay at this cabin. It was quiet, cozy and beautiful surroundings. It was the perfect size for us. We will definitely return for a longer stay. Valle Crucis is so serene.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Mountain of fun! - Great escape to a little cabin in the mountains with all the amenities of home. Loved it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved staying at Valle Crucis farms. Such a neat experience for our family of 4. The place was very clean and everything was provided. It is a small cabin with a little bit of a hike so be aware of that before booking. We stayed in the Nut House. There is another cabin that is not on the hill. We enjoyed the experience and the kids thought it was great to climb up the hill. We will hopefully stay again!
- Sharron (10/5): attractive, comfortable cabin - We enjoyed our stay at this nicely furnished cabin on an attractive horse farm. Nearby was a great restaurant for lunch and supper, with other options for groceries nearby.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful mountain cabin in very scenic setting. - We loved the cabin. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Very clean. Beautiful mountain setting. Would prefer more comfortable furniture.
