- Jeffrey (6/5): Would be great but let down badly by 2 issues - First impression are great with a well presented, well decorated and maintained, spotlessly clean room with a nice terrace overlooking the river. Warm and friendly staff, excellent housekeeping. BUT…. Two essentials for me are a quiet room for a good night’s sleep and a good shower. Sadly the noise from the nightly live music at the outdoor restaurant/bar is so loud that you cannot sleep and it goes on til after 11pm. The shower has hardly any water pressure and both the water flow and temperature fluctuate continually - really poor. Also a little too far out from the centre if you prefer to walk (30 mins)
- Valentin (4/5): Worst staff I ever encountered in Thailand - Nice feel, interesting design I had a plane to catch on 1st of January at 6:30. I asked the staff 2 days in advance to help me with a taxi at 3:30AM. I was lead to believe it was arranged however in the morning they told me to use Grab. It is 3:30 on the 1st of January, there are no Bolts or Grabs, this is why I asked you to arrange a taxi, I know how to use the apps and I know drivers are rare and expensive on new year night. EI ended up paying twice the amount and almost lost the plane after waiting 45 minutes in front of the hotel for someone to pick me up. If you are useless and can't help with a taxi at least say you are. I could have arranged it myself if they said they don't know taxi numbers in the city they live in. Being misled is the worst. Everything else was ok, I would have rated 9 but the night staff makes it a 4.
- Richard (9/5): We enjoyed staying in this hotel very much a definitely recommend it. - Cozy hotel in good location with a beautiful patio facing the river. There is a motorbike/car rental right across the street which we took advantage of. And a great upscale market just a few steps from the hotel. Very nice owner, doesn’t speak much English but all can be worked out with a translation app. Breakfast very basic.

- Aleksandra (9/5): Krótki pobyt. - Hotel położony bardzo blisko nocnego marketu, dzięki czemu korzystaliśmy z niego codziennie, kilka minut i jest się na miejscu. Pokój dosyć mały, ale zupełnie wystarczający dla dwóch osób do komfortowego spędzenia czasu. Łóżko bardzo duże i wygodne. Hotel zadbany, jak za tą cenę to bardzo polecamy. :)

Standardzimmer auf der Straßenseite trotz isolierter Fenster nicht sehr ruhig. Größter Minuspunkt: Das bei Booking angepriesene Frühstück muss am Tag vorher bestellt werden, sonst gibt es nur das übliche Instantkaffee-Toast-Marmelade-Kekse Frühstück (gratis).

- Kenneth Oconnell (10/5): - Stayed two nights; then extended stay. Eceptionally clean, super friendly staff and a gourmet supermarket called Rimping right across the street and it’s incredible. Rooms are immaculate, place is like an oasis. Grounds around hotel are well maintained.
- Ceri (10/5): - I enjoyed staying at this hotel. It has a terrace next to the river with places to sit and relax. The whole place was very clean and free of clutter. Our room was a good size, at the river side of the hotel. The restaurant across the river likes to entertain the whole neighbourhood with its live music, but it didn’t bother us as we were out or not ready for sleep until it stopped anyway. If you’re early to bed, use your earplugs (necessary in Asia!). There’s an excellent supermarket in the building across the road by the way.

- Alexander (10/5): Great hotel outside the Old City - A lovely stay along the river, just outside the Old City. The hotel was comfortable and clean and service was excellent. If you stay here, make sure to watch the sunset on the back patio space by the river. The floral arrangements and nice decor make for a lovely experience.

- Murphy (10/5): Exceptional - This is a beautiful hotel sitting right on the river, close to eveytou need and nightlife. Rooms are neat and clean but the best part is the staff ! They have helped me find my phone about 4 times already after to many drinks ! They are super friendly and I have actually decided to stay an extra 5 days instead of swap hotel as I like it here that much ! Great place and great value !

The location is close to the key attractions in George Town. Jane, the manager was welcoming accommodating, and friendly. She connected us with Lau who was our personal guide for the day. He was wonderful, book him! We designed our own day and got off the tourist path to the best local food. If the hotel is full and you can’t get a room call him on WhatsApp +60 19-410 9467. I’m not easy to please and I was very happy with this stay. We will definitely book here again next time in Penang.

- Rachel (8/5): - I enjoyed my stay. It was quiet, clean, and comfortable. The garden is lovely, and being on the river felt like a true taste of Thailand. There are night markets with a wide selection of goods and delicious street foods within easy walking distance. There's a very nice, reasonably priced Thai restaurant less than a block away and a terrific supermarket just down the street with every food item you might desire. The staff was very sweet and accommodating. They happily allowed me not only to check in early, but to check out late when I was changing hotels. That was very kind of them.

Complimentary bread & instant coffee tea provided. Do note the rooms facing road is noisy, we paid for an upgrade to room facing river which is quieter. Overall it’s ok considering the price you are paying

So you might want to bring ear plugs or upgrade to the riverside room for 500 baht more. Otherwise the Rimping supermarket is great, just across the street. Friendly helpful staff. Breakfast of instant Nescafe Red coffee and bread with butter and jam or tea cookies is not very exciting. But they do sell Chang, which makes any breakfast tolerable. There is a 7-11 & street food nearby, and a laundry service. No elevator, all walkup, not handicap accessible except maybe the 1st floor.

- Harn (10/5): Ideal place to re-charge - Its location is excellent - close to the night market but in a quiet location by the river. Staff are courteous and attentive but not intrusive. There are also restaurants and a supermarket within walking distance. I missed being able to make a cup of coffee anytime that I liked. But coffee (including a coffee machine) is available in the mornings during breakfast time.

The owner seemed nice and got us plates and sliverware. It was difficult for me to maneuver around the room because there was no floor next to the bed. I think they should only but a full sized bed in a room that small. im an older man and it felt like i was staying at a hostel, albeit with a bathroom. The coffee is downstairs and not in the room but this isnt a big deal. The maid never came evem though we requested her on the 3rd day so over the days the room and towels just got dirtier. That made us feel like they just didnt really care.

The standout at Baan Ing Ping is the staff, particularly the wonderful owner who worked tirelessly to try and connect with Expedia when they weren’t honoring a refund I was owed for a room we had to cancel several days before check-in. They went above and beyond on this and everything else - we felt truly cared for.

- Gregory (10/5): Perfect riverside spot - I wanted to stay in an other area of town. I had stayed a few nights on the old city area but I had heard good things about the riverside area. I was not disappointed. The hotel backed on to the river which was very nice to watch in the morning while eating breakfast. Also, there were many nice restaurants and bars in the area. The staff especially was great and very accommodating. I like that they brought my luggage up the stairs for me. Also, the manager was friendly and spoke English very well making it easy to ask detailed questions about Chiang Mai.

- Judith (10/5): Beauty at the Baan Ing Ping - Baan Ing Ping is one of my all time favorite little hotels in the world!! It’s very simple, but it is adorable and cared for lovingly by the great staff. Pat was so helpful, every day, in so many ways!!! The location is perfect because you are right on the River Ping, a very short walk across a sweet little bridge and then 2 blocks to the center of the night market, etc. This hotel is sooo clean. You could eat off the outside steps!! The garden is tended every day and you can get a very inexpensive breakfast or walk across the street to an excellent supermarket/ coffee bar/ juice bar. I say again that the rooms and beds are very basic, but I loved it and would definitely stay in the future!!!
