Guest Reviews
- samantha (7/5): Basic but exactly what we wanted - Very close to slopes.
Parking.
Pool for kids
Staff were great
Room was very clean Property looks very tired in communal areas.
Appartement conforme. Nous aurions apprécié un four.
- Fran (8/5): Basic but clean comfy with wonderful staff - The most lovely staff at reception. Super helpful and even let me practice my French rather than instantly replying in English. Couldn’t be more helpful. Fab location. It is basic and a little tired but clean and perfectly acceptable for a family ski holiday. It could just do with a few more shelves in cupboards rather than just hanging space.
- Gareth (8/5): -
- toyohide (8/5): Good lodge for ski trips - Great location for skiing Can improve the cleanliness
- Mladen (5/5): Location makes it worth it, everything else is subpar. - Location is great. You have to clean the room and go through inspection, also you have to put your sheets as the bed is not setup. It feels like student hostel.
- Colin (7/5): Loving all the staff at reception - they made us feel very welcome. The location is so close to the - The reception jacuzzi and pool.
The Reception staff were super helpful.
The breakfast you can order in the morning
The location to the ski lifts and ESF school pick up The sauna (broken bench). The 10euro in room WiFi that didn’t really work.
All the asbestos in the ski locker room ceiling
The room wasn’t as clean as I’d like on arrival
- Morten (5/5): - Location is great - close to slopes and parking You have to do everything yourself - bed linen on and off, sauna in poor standard - building needs major renovation
- Clare (8/5): Great stay with kids - top location and lovely pool and hot tub - Fabulous location, lovely pool and hot tub after a day's skiing, helpful staff. Apartment wasn't very clean on arrival. When I spoke to the receptionist about this, it became apparent that the cleaning is to be done by the occupier at the end of the stay. It doesn't seem that any further cleaning is undertaken by staff. It wasn't made clear on booking.com that cleaning was to be undertaken by the occupier (and that no cleaning products are provided). You can pay for cleaning but this would have been €100 for a two bedroom duplex. I complained to reception about the state of the apartment and that we shouldn't have to clean it on our departure given that it wasn't clean on our arrival. They understood and let us off the cleaning (I hope for the sake of the next occupiers that the staff did clean it properly).
I would also recommend taking your own swimming towels; otherwise you have to pay for additional towels (which are very small!)
- Yvonnick (9/5): -
- Thomas (5/5): - Location was good. Cleaning from previous guest was subpar. The floor was dusty (don't know about the toilets have been cleaned). There was plates and cups that was not cleaned. They did clean when we commented on it, but it should have been done before. You do not want to come to a dirty apartment.
- Ross (7/5): Great location and very friendly. - Location was great, close to the shops/restaurants as well as the slopes. Apartment was good and the staff on reception were friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was far too cold. The hot tub is lovely if you can get into it. The rule is a max of 6 people, but no booking system, so inevitably there were many arguments between residents doing battle for their turn in the hot tub. A similar situation for the sauna (not particularly hot and always crowded). As the WiFi is charged the quality of it should be much better. The apartment was good but it could do with an oven (it has a microwave and a hob to cook with). The cleanliness depends on how well the previous residents have left it. You’re asked to hoover and mop and there is an inspection before you leave. There are no cleaning products though, unless you buy them yourself from the local spar. For the price, I’d expect it to be cleaned properly.
- Fabien DECHANET (7/5): - situation géographique proche des pistes
piscine, jacuzzi propreté le strict minimum
manque des éléments simples et peu couteux, papier wc (1 rouleau ...) liquide vaisselle, gel douche, torchon...
rapport qualité prix assez mauvais
- Danny (7/5): Great convenience and easy going - Great location, so close to the slopes, ski rental and so pass. Very convenient access to lower Flaine. Hot tub is very nice after a day of skiing Not very clear instructions for check in after hours, paying for towels as an extra.
Don't expect any extra comforts, not that they are needed if you are looking for easy going self catering accomodation
- isabelle (10/5): Top! Emplacement incroyable Matelas durs
- Rima (4/5): - Its Old not clean a very small place not comfortable Everything
- Renata (8/5): -
- Alexander (8/5): -
- James (4/5): we had a nice time - Location is excellent. But the decoration is very poor. Wires running down from underneath the television in different directions just looks really awful. Walls are painted red with chipped paint. Just feels very tired compared to Pierre Vacances. Also very noisy from the jacuzzi outside. These comments are important because I will not come back as there is better accommodation in Flaine, particularly in Pierre Vacances next door. It would not take much to make these apartments more cosy and appealing. Staff are very nice.
- yassine (8/5): Satisfaisant - Proche des installations pour skier
- IRYNA (2/5): -
- Bas (9/5): Fantastisch! - Ligging en personeel Alles was top!
- Aiman (8/5): Very good -
- Fiona (9/5): Wonderful - Fantastic location. Really helpful staff.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Small apartment, good value for money, excellent location - Small apartment with lockable ski lockers at ground level
Excellent location near Grands Vans chairlift ie convenient for skiing in Flaine, or over in Morillon / Les Carroz / Samoens area
Would stay here again Bedroom is compact. We had to move the beds to open the wardrobe
- Michael (7/5): Great being close to the lift. Spa facilities average, thankfully cheap as late season - Great being close to the ski lifts, plenty of room in the one bed for two people. Used the apartment parking which was very convenient. Staff pleasant to deal with. No oven in the one bed flat, only a microwave and a hob.
- Jake (8/5): Very good -
- Barbara (8/5): Great location 😁 - Location, clean, friendly helpful staff, amazing views Very narrow locker rooms, difficult during peak times.
Freezing pool, although advertised as a heated pool.
Lack of storage in the kitchen
- Phillip (9/5): Would book again. - Good location. Great parking. Friendly staff. Good sized apartment. Just being picky but ski locker arrangements are poor. Little room and no way of drying boots. Shame as would have been a 10/10 instead of 9/10.
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Sean (6/5): - Basic, be prepared to make your own beds (linen provided but double bed’s flat sheet was too small), and clean the apartment.
Limited toilet paper and no toiletries.
Ski locker corridor, cold swimming pool.
Good location, next to Flaine Forêt ski lifts. There is a spar and ski rental, esf ski lesson shop within 5 mins walk.
- Georgina (9/5): Superb -
- Martin (8/5): Really good - Location Very poor internet service
- Deborah (9/5): Had a great time , will definitely use again - It was all great thank you , only thing it missed was a pair of scissors! 😂 Nothing
- Andrew (6/5): Good stay, great location, need to provide basic cleaning products and only had one towel for the whole week. - Good location and good facilities good value for money. Poor electrics, WiFi useless, no basic cleaning products but expected to leave the apartment spotless and as it wasn’t apparently left spotless charged an additional 50 Euros even though we were ushered out at 10.30 so the ‘cleaners’ could get in and clean.
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Glen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Justin (9/5): Superb -
- Charles (8/5): Very good -
- Siobhan (9/5): Great apartments for ski holiday. - Clean. Comfortable beds. Helpful and friendly staff. Nice atmosphere around the building, everyone very friendly. Boot room needs more benches.
- Mixia (7/5): Good - Perfect location
- Jennifer (8/5): Very good - Very friendly staff. Extremely well situated for skiing. Lovely to be able to have a sauna and jacuzzi after a day skiing.
- Abderrahman (10/5): Very nice would recommend. - It was a step from the ski area
Pool, sauna and hot outdoor jacuzzi
Having personal ski locker
Very nice and friendly staff that waited us for a late check-in Needed to pay extra for Wi-fi
- Lawrence (5/5): Passable -
- Michael (9/5): Great value for money and brilliant location -
- Bernard (9/5): Good view from apartment, Very close to ski lifts - Good View of valley from all apartments
- William (8/5): Perfect, budget accomodation with friendly staff with great access to the slopes. - Functional, basic, clean. Perfect for older group, focused on keeping costs down. Friendly staff and having indoor swimming pool, sauna and hot tub (outside). Ideally positioned for access to the slopes - about 100m to the bottom of the piste. Had two flats between four people. Six in each flat would have been a squeeze. In identical flats, one had two toilets, one had one. First world problem.
Good size ski lockers, but no heated boot racks or sockets to plug in warmers.
- Frances (8/5): Very good -
- Matthew (8/5): Very good -
- Mike (4/5): Disappointing -
- Alexandre (8/5): Very good - Great place, superb location, wonderful nature, no WiFi in the room
- Zahir (8/5): Will def go back :- ) - location, staff, ease of access.
- Guy (2/5): Beautiful area, resort too buddy at half term but still has some nice skiing. Poor accommodation. - No breakfast included but kitchen was just about workable The accommodation is incredibly over priced at half term. £2500 for a very small one bed flat more like a studio
To add insult to injury you are then told to clean and mop everything out pay €140 cleaning fee. Just what you want on the last evening of your holiday with children
- Martin (7/5): Good - Could do with a few coat hooks in the appartment
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (7/5): Good -
- Peter (2/5): Disappointing value for money. - Great location, warm rooms, morning bread delivery and great shower pressure. Aside from comments below, the kitchen was well equipped. Service from Head Office very poor. Emails and voicemail messages for booking ski passes were just ignored. Weren’t able to organise transfer from airport. Tip - use GoMassif
No welcome pack. We had to buy tea towels, cloths, detergent, salt, pepper etc. Very basic stuff that should be provided. No oven.
Very small. We were only a party of 4 and felt cramped in the living area.
Not very clean
No heated boot storage!!!!! We took ours up to the room which I am sure was against the rules but was the only way I would be able to get them on in the morning.
Bathroom had seen better days.
Overall had a slightly depressing feel to it.
- Lesley (3/5): Poor -
- Anonymous (5/5): Great location but otherwise average - Location and pool Staff do the bare minimum. Rooms are very small.
- Dave (8/5): Very good -
- George (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nigel (10/5): Mini ski break - Everything was as described no complaints other than the very firm mattress on the bed settee fantastic location
- Jemtraining (6/5): Location and Hot tub great - Apartment a bit substandard -no duvets, no oven, no washing up stuff. - We ate out and had some nice food of an evening down in Flaine Forum
Our apartment had a great view
We were super close to the slope - within walking distance (in ski boots!)
Loved the hot tub and sauna and chatting to other guests. The apartment was not brilliant -a bit tired. For the cheap early season rate we had it was Ok but would not be worth the full price.
It did not provide proper bedding - just a blanket. there were no duvets. the sheets were in packets when we arrived we had to make our own beds. To keep warm enough at night it was necessary to have the heating on -which gave us dry throats (and the owners a bigger bill - why not just provide duvets it would be cheaper!)
There was no oven - which was super annoying as it made it impossible to easily cook meals like pizza or rewarm croissants etc
Nothing was provided for cleaning/washing up - no liquid, pan scrubbers, dish washer tablets or tea towels. Ridiculous when people are flying in. (although there was un-necessary shampoo and shower geL!) Loo rolls were rationed.
Sauna and hot tub/pool only open 10am-7pm - so no good for early or late swims.
- Chantelle (8/5): Very good -
- Remus (9/5): Very good location for all kind of activities in the summer but i believe in the winter in special. - Our room was situated at the first level ,means you go in the room from first floor and have a bedroom and good size shower room with WC and go down through the curbed staircase where is 1 small/medium bedroom and a bathroom with a separate WC ,a openspace living room with a French door and a small balcony and an access to the pathway on the grand floor garden.Very good views to the montaigne and very close withe the sky track and cable cars station (Lot's of sky cable cars station around ) Excellent . Apartment is situated in 2 floors and could be a good point for someone but wasn't for me and the room downstairs was a little to small for 2 persons but good Overall.
- Claire (7/5): Good -
- Gordon (8/5): - Firstly the location is very hard to beat. With young children carrying skis and in boots took about 4 minutes to the ski school…..was really perfect.
The hotel itself was overall really good, perhaps a little basic in places but hard to fault it really. For a family it worked out really nicely.
The pool, sauna and jacuzzi are all great, a nice addition that the kids loved.
The resort itself is not the best for nightlife or restaurants, but all you need is available at the spar just 2 minutes away so cooking for yourself is easy and inexpensive.
We will be back next year.
- Gurjit (4/5): Great location, not so great of a hotel - Functional hotel, great location for ski lift, not far from the forum where all the restaurants are and amazing views but if your looking for comfort and a clean hotel then I wouldn't book this one. Building and apartments have not been maintained and has a shabby feel about it. After the initial excitement of being on holiday you start to notice the filthy doors and floors and bedding provided. No usable storage in bedrooms either. Would return to flaine but not this hotel
- Colin (8/5): - Good value foroney but it is very basic and you have to mop and clean the apartment before leaving which is a bit of a challenge with young kids and a transfer to catch. Also there is no clean products provided for this.
- Andrew (6/5): Basic apartments in Flaine foret - This building is rather tired with evidence of leaking drains on balconies and peeling paint on the concrete.
The studio booked had too much space taken up by a sofa bed, although designated for 4 it was just room for 2.
Check in at a weekend had a 5 hour gap when not serviced despite checking with the head office in Champery by phone, so a long wait. The staff were helpful and polite and able to help with faulty lights etc. These are not serviced apartments and diy bedmaking etcis required, cleanliness depends entirely on the previous occupants, in this case below standard. It is very convenient for the piste and access to the resort. A small supermarket and Boulangerie are close by as well as reasonably priced restaurants and bars. Skinhire is nearby too.
- Darren (4/5): Tired. limited hot water. No secure bag storage. - We were a group of 6 friends who had stayed at this property 2 times previously - so we knew it was very well located for the nearest lift - literally 100m away. However, since our last stay the condition and service at this property had deteriorated significantly.
This is not a full service property. You are provided with pack of linens and towels. You then make your own bed. We had a double bed but the sheets were not large enough for the bed. The bed spreads and blankets are left in the properties and, expressly on the instructions contained within the apartment, are not washed unless they are ‘dirty’ and the guests leaving are required to refill the blankets and bedspreads and replace them in the shelves in the rooms - this means that as the sheets are too narrow for a double bed you will have bedding that has been on the skin of others when you in you bed. Some might think this is fine. I prefer clean bedding that covers my whole body when I’m bed.
The mattress itself was very hard and had a hard piping around the edge so that was very uncomfortable on the toes or ankles. We slept badly every night.
In the living room was a sofa with a pull out single bed.The pull out bed had a very thin mattress and was so uncomfortable that our 6th person only stayed 1 night and then moved to a different hotel. The 2 worst things - no hot water at the end of the day to shower after skiing and no secure baggage storage room so no safe bag storage on last ski day. Avoid this property
- Gary (6/5): Remember to bring bed sheets & speedo's - Great location, attentive reception staff. Small Pool, sauna and hot tub and Speedo's only (no shorts), Duplex number 114 was very basic and tired but ok, water hot and good pressure showers. Small lounge tv with no English channels.
We were not aware that we needed to bring our own bed sheets. We were issued with mattered protectors to use as sheets which were very uncomfortable, bed pillows stained and lumpy, pillow protectors were issued but again sleep was difficult and spoiled what could have been a great place to stay.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Terrible hotel and very expensive for what it was
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hotel bien situé - Hotel agréable, spacieux et bien situé
- Verified traveler (2/5): Closer to a hostel than a hotel. - Bedding is not included in the room rate.
Cleaning is not included in the room rate.
TV is not included in the room rate.
Wifi is not included in the room rate.
An inventory of the room has to be taken by the guest on arrival.
The toilet was heavily stained.
The furniture was extremely cheap.
The hotel reception is only staffed intermittently.
Check-in is a paper-based system and took over an hour.
- Alexander (4/5): Perfectly functional, but the Ritz it is not! - Not the most salubrious stay ever. Room was acceptably clean on arrival (just), however we gave it a once over. There were 3 adults staying in an apartment designed for 4 - it's a good job we are close friends! Check-out was like an armed forces march-out with an inspection before your deposit was returned to check for cleanliness. I'm not used to this, and thought this was meant to be a 4* hotel with a cleaner? Woeful lack of cleaning products that we had to go out and buy.
Screaming kids everywhere with parents who did not seem interested in controlling them. I appreciate this was a holiday, and I party like the best of them, but a heads-up that this was the sort of place may have persuaded me to stay elsewhere.
Ridiculously designed ski lockers - chaos every morning with no benches and doors that when opened opposite each other clashed. No where to put boots on properly.
- Paul (2/5): Cheap and cheerless - 6 person apartment, they are having a larrf! We struggled with three. This block was barely designed and build with people in mind, let alone skiers. Although ill designed, the operators had done little to improve matters, with new but inadequate kitchen areas, cramped dining area, toilet with no hand wash basin and inadequate clothing and food storage area, and a light bulb sticking dangerously out of a loose wall fitting at exactly head height.
When we arrived after the staff had clocked out, (i.e. after 8:00pm) it was obvious the room hadn't been checked since the previous guests left. We had no linen several items of crockery had caked on food, and the provided place mats were too disgusting to use. the provided loo roles came to about 1/3 of a full roll between two loos, and we were invited to buy additional rolls (they eventually did come forward with two complete rolls).
Other guests we spoke to had also had issues with cleanliness. On one day a notice appeared telling people to report such issues to staff immediately - since when was it the guests job to check their rooms on moving in?
The ski locker area was also ridiculously cramped for changing with one rickety bench between 45 apartments worth of skiers.
There were signs advertising offers of 20% off your next visit to a Madame Vacances property. That must be the only way to get people to even consider coming back, well not us!
- Scrubbs (4/5): Good location but not a nice experience. - It's a surprise to be asked if you would like sheets on the beds. You get these for free in prison. Allow a few hours to make the room habitable. We got parole after a few days so were happy to leave!
