Guest Reviews
- Susan (8/5): - This B & B was very good but for the price point, we expected better. The view was very good and the patio quaint, but beyond the patio, the greenery was quite unkept. We did enjoy the brambly trail down though for a great trail walk. Inside it was nice and clean and the breakfast foods that were left was very sufficient. It was other little things, synthetic towels that didn’t dry your body off, synthetic sheets that didn’t breathe and you felt too warm under them, no bedside tables and no vanity for toiletries and a very small shower. If we had paid 100$ less, I would consider giving it all 4-5 stars.
- Michael (10/5): - Chris is by far the highlight of the stay. She was such a wonderful host and we enjoyed chatting with her. Very helpful and accommodating.
- Vicki (6/5): - Beautiful views, I would of liked more privacy.
- Dean (10/5): - Quaint location with beautiful views over the Sooke Basin. Highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely upstairs apartment, with a gorgeous view - A lovely apartment overlooking Sooke Basin, clean and comfortable. The host is friendly and we enjoyed chatting with her. The apartment is on the upper floor ("eagles nest" and we saw an eagle), so be prepared to climb a long flight of stairs.
Although called a B&B, breakfast is not made for guests but ample food is provided, so you can fix your own breakfast. The host went out of her way to meet our dietary restrictions.
The B&B is very convenient to both Sooke and East Sooke, with numerous parks and hiking trails.
Overall, highly recommended!
- LISA (10/5): - The B&B was charming and our bed was very comfortable.
- Tom (10/5): - A beautiful place, wonderful hostess, and the best views. Very peaceful and relaxing.
- James (10/5): - Wonderful view. Fantastic staff. Highly recommend!
- Sheila (8/5): - If you want 5 star, this is not your place however we did enjoy our 4 nights. The view is beautiful and our room was spotlessly clean and spacious. The location is great if you are touring the area. A bit of traffic noise but still not bad. The owner is charming and accommodating but needs help with overall property maintenance and some updating. Breakfast was delicious and we ate outside which is always nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location, privacy, space all pluses. Fridge was out for repair. Exit onto highway is sketchy, but we were given a good warning and careful instructions.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had an amazing time with Criss and all the other guess at the B&B . Excellent breakfast! Love the king size bed. Could use a Tv 📺 in the hummingbird room and blind on door by bed . Our deck and view was amazing! Chris the owner is such a sweet lady . We felt like family there! She even gave me 🌹’s for a get well ❣️Would go back tomorrow ❤️
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Chris, the innkeeper, was very friendly and hospitable. The breakfasts were perfect, and catered to our preferences. The site was close to many areas of interest, and full of natural beauty.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful property, amazing location (we stayed in the Hummingbird Room) and a memorable location overlooking a secluded bay, surrounded by pristine mountains. Could not have asked for more.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The OWNER, Christine is a very nice lady. she is very thoughtful. she works very hard to make rooms clean and cozy. plus The view is stunning. we felt hard to leave. we Would like to come back If we have a chance.
- David (10/5): It’s a Gem. - Chris is one fantastic host, Awesome place
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property was little hard to get to as the main road is very busy and it's hard to see oncoming cars. Overall the property is very nice with a beautiful back porch looking out over the cove. Easy access to rooms and an amazing Host. She did an excellent job of making us welcome.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great sea view and great breakfast and wonderful host
- Marv (10/5): - Nice cottage and view, and the breakfasts excellent.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Thank you! - Beautiful view, clean and cozy suite. Our first "real" B&B experience. There was a double booking and we were moved into a nicer suite because we were a couple. Very knowledgeable about Sooke and what's nearby.
- Ian (10/5): Moonlit bliss - Had a wonderful stay. Chris is a wonderful host.hope to return in the future
- Dennis (8/5): Only the best! - Great hostess, excellent location, good food, enjoyable fellow guests. A most memorable stay with ocean views!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location, cottage with lake view was amazing. No blackout curtains so sleep with moonlight.
- Dan (10/5): - Super view and the moon even came out to make it even more memorable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room not ready on time, too much verbal engagement, no coffee mugs in room
- Kristi (8/5): Beautiful view, lovely place - We didn't stay long enough for breakfast but the hostess, Chris, was very kind and helpful. The suite was amazing, incredible view, bright and spacious. Clean and comfortable, would recommend.
- kyle (4/5): Decent Room but terrible host - The BnB host talked for at least an hour when we showed up. She made uncomfortable jokes about Trump, because we are American. And was overall very annoying. We couldn’t even EAT on the table in our room because “she didn’t want to have to clean it”. The ground of the BnB needed some upkeep, but it had a nice view. Our room was awkwardly laid out, but worst of all WE COULDNT EVEN CLOSE OUT BLINDS FOR PRIVACY. And they had a little patio table right outside our room. The “full breakfast” was fruit and a bagel with smoked salmon on it. Idk what you consider a “full breakfast” but that isn’t what I think off. It was supposed to be served at 9:00, and we planned on leaving promptly after to catch our ferry. IT WASNT SERVED TILL 9:45. With awkward tense conversation the whole time. We tried to explain we are in a hurry but she was just rude in response. Not nearly worth what I paid for it. Would not go back.
- Cathe (10/5): A Gem Just Outside of Sooke - I wish I could have stayed longer! The cottage is well appointed and carefully attended. The view is perfect: water, hills, and sky. No houses between myself and the water, and very few on the inlet below. The moon was nearly full and arched across the entire deck side of the house. The scent of the roses on the way in was heady.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quiet, clean and very friendly - Cozy accommodation with magnificent scenery! Rooms are bright and comfortable. The entire place is spotlessly clean and very quiet.
Breakfast was a communal one with pleasant company and delishious food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing location with breathtaking views, great breakfast and great staff. Would definitely stay their again.
- Lawson (6/5): - Our room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was good. The buildings and garden however are very rundown and in need of repair. The pictures of the site do not reflect the present day condition and must be from many years ago. We were disappointed that we couldn't get down the path to the ocean as it was overgrown with brambles. Lovely location but overpriced given the condition of the grounds.
- Adrian (10/5): - Such great hospitality and very friendly owner (Chris) who cooked me a breakfast fit for a king. Such a beautiful place with humming birds outside of door :).
- Nanci (10/5): Beautiful place - Wonderful view, good food and near mt son in Langford. We got what we came dor and more. Thanks Chris!
- PK (8/5): Some noise but nice view - When we arrived and knocked..no one answered. We called after driving into town 5 miles and she answered and said she saw us but did not come down to the door. When rooms are rented above your room...there is too much noise. We could hear every word spoken by the couple above us. The room was very clean, the view was beautiful. Breakfast was salmon and sprouts and bagels. Very nice!
- Vadim (6/5): The owner needs some help - A nice property, clean and well maintained.
The owner though could definitely use some help though. She was doing everything alone, the breakfast was supposed to start at 9 but was half an hour late and lasted til 10:40.
- Debbie (8/5): Nice room but don's be in a hurry. - We arrived at 3:45 for a 4:00 check in. We were told our room was not ready and to come back. We were given a map of the area so we went for a beautiful walk.
When we returned and was taken to our room we were asked to leave out shoes at the door which was fine for me but I didn't feel right asking my cousin to remove her shoes before coming in...
We were told breakfast was served at 9:00. I asked 9:00 to what? I was told at 9 and to please let her know if we were not attending. I made plans to meet my cousin at 9:30 thinking we would eat and run. We arrived at 9:00 but was asked to give her 10 min. came back in 10 min but she was still running behind. Our breakfast wasn't ready at 10 but it was yummy.
Our room was a clean comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great place to stay - Beautiful place. The moon shining on the cove is spectacular! The room was spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast was fresh, tasty, and plentiful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Breakfasts were great. Amazing view to the water. Host Chris is so sweet and helped offer suggestions of local things to see and do.
- Cathie (8/5): Beautiful and comfy - Beautiful view of the Bay by day and night. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the view. Very comfortable bed and cleanest rooms I've ever seen. Delicious breakfast made by Chris, the friendly and welcoming proprietor.
- Ray (8/5): Great room view - We stayed on the first floor, had a great view of the water and mountains from the room. Breakfast is served at 9am, this made for a late start for us.
- Robert H. (10/5): Beautiful view, comfortable room. - My wife and I stayed for two nights in the Hummingbird Suite and wished we could have extended our stay. The room was large, comfortable, clean and had a gorgeous view (just like in the photos)! The owner was delightful. She asked about our breakfast preferences and any food allergies -- very considerate. She was helpful in planning our limited time on the island. We took her advice and enjoyed a long, beautiful hike along the coast nearby.
- travellers (10/5): Good location, great views. - Very friendly, well equipped, beautiful views, close to Victoria and also lots of beaches and parks along the highway. Easy to get to (about 1 hour from ferry) pullout couch is a bit soft but all of them are. Fantastic breakfast.
Good advice on places to visit from Kris.
She's like a family friend!
Thanks for a great experience.
- jake (6/5): Pretty setting, but... - The furniture is not comfortable, the kitchenette is only minimally equipped ( eg. no napkins)
the room was not ready even at 5pm. The hostess needs more help than she has. I doubt that I would return.
- Keith (10/5): BEST WEST COAST BED&BREAKFAST - The Owner of the B&B was just amazing person who made you FEEL right at HOME. FANTASTIC cooking, very comfortable BED and over all, I will be back to this outstanding place. Thankyou for the NICEST person I Truly appreciate your time too the Owner. Keith Goldfeldt Mountain Man
- David (10/5): Stunning views, great location - Accommodations were first class. Chris, the owner, was a delight. She was a gold mine of information about the surrounding area. Breakfast was superb. The property abuts the Galloping Goose trail, which runs all the way to Victoria. There are great views of Sooke Bay. However, Expedia needs to fix its online map, which had the property located somewhere in the Olympic Peninsula!
- john (6/5): Nice view B&B - Nice place but the poor woman who runs it is swamped with work and could use some help
- Darren (10/5): - Comfortable, welcoming
- 4 friends (6/5): Run-down Bnb with late late breakfast! - Room wasn't ready when we got in at almost 5- no apologies just the owner telling us how overworked she was. She was still making our bed at 9:30 pm that night. Breakfast at 9 turned into a 1.5 hour ordeal both mornings. She needs to hire someone but also accommodate/compensate guests if they are paying $250-300 a night and she is not giving them their money's worth.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Gorgeous view, lots to do in nearby town - Beautiful spot, nice rooms. The owner tries to do everything on her own which reflects on the quality of the service. She would be better off to hire more staff to make things more efficient and on time. No choice of when to have breakfast.
- Carrie-Lee (8/5): Peaceful getaway - This B&B with its stunning views was wonderful. The hostess went out if he way to make it perfect for my moms birthday reunion.
- robert (10/5): want to stay longer - a wonderful b&b, stunning view right on the water. sit on the patio and enjoy the evening looking out over the water. the suite was very nice & clean. furnishings and equipment was perfect. the owner bends over backwards to ensure your happiness.
- Tracy (8/5): Beautiful view from the Shell Cottage - 5 of us visited Moonlit Cove B&B during the Canada Day long weekend in 2016. We stayed in the Shell Cottage, which was clean and well maintained with a small fridge and an electric stove. The Host, Chris is very friendly and gave us a lot of suggestion as where to go eat and what to do. Breakfast were simple but well suited for the daily activities. I believe she intentionally avoid serving us egg on the day we were heading out for whale watching. The water view from the window and the balcony were beautiful and we were able to star gaze at night on the balcony. We saw some hares and tons of humming birds on the property. There is also a fence of blackberries leading to the galloping goose trail. Overall, we had a great time but I feel like maybe she had taken on a little too many lodgers for the long weekend. We had to wait for quite awhile for breakfast on the day we were checking out.
- Diane (8/5): So relaxing! - We enjoyed the wonderful hospitality shown by the B & B owner, the wonderful food she served and the amazing tranquility of the setting. We definitely plan to go back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Morning view was more than beautiful, it's amazing - All's great, the host even prepared us dinner the night we arrived, just cause she's caring and didn't want us to wonder looking for a convenient store in the dark. She's a charm!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The weather was perfect! Breakfasts were most enjoyable and a great way to start each day.
Christine is a very warm and considerate host.
- Rachele (10/5): - Chris was very attentive and caring. My husband and I were just there for a night away and it was very peaceful and relaxing.
Chris made a wonderful breakfast and delivered right to our cottage. I would go again and recommend to my friends.
- Joshua (10/5): A perfect 24 hours. - The room was impeccable, the view amazing, and the service and hospitably was incredible.
