Guest Reviews
- Roger (4/5): If you must - Location, was reasonably value. Bed was good room reasonable size
Reception lady who booked us in very helpful Had to go up 4 floors to room , old run down building. Breakfast very average and told to go eat it on front porch . Parking expensive.
Book out person completely ignored us and almost rude. Air con poor.
- Paul (7/5): The Beacon Inn offers a cozy and convenient option to tour Boston. - Convenient location to the T. Room was clean. No place to eat the complimentary breakfast.
- Lisa (8/5): Overall a great place. First time at this location. Definitely would stay again - Muffins were delicious!! Good coffee too! Room was spacious and lovely. Very nicely appointed with vintage/antique furniture Room was cold at night. Garbage emptied once in 5 days.

- Natalia (4/5): No descansé. Y no les importa mucho la atención al cliente. - La ubicación. No dormí.

- Chaires (10/5): The perfect, comfy, and cozy stay. - I loved the room we stayed in. It was super cute and comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised by the how much space the room had. I absolutely loved how big the bed was and how big the tv was. The front desk was very friendly and accommodating. I really appreciated that the lobby had water and snacks! Not everybody has water for their guests so that was a nice plus. There was nothing to dislike :)
- Jacob (3/5): Good location, but facilities could be better maintained, and loud noises from radiators kept me up. - Locations was good for a conference at Boston College. Clanging steam radiators woke me up every half hour or so each night. Not just the usual steam release from radiators (that's no problem for me--used to old apartments). Loud clanging of pipes/ water hammers from radiators that need maintenance. Since there was almost never anyone at the front desk, there was no one I could complain to get the issue fixed. I also had an issue with arriving early. I called from the airport to let them know that I would be arriving about a half an hour before their usual check-in at 3PM. I was told "OK. Wait in the lobby until 3 PM," and then told actually I could go up to my room, which was unlocked, but couldn't leave because I did not yet have the key to lock the room with my belongings in it. This despite the fact that they called me the day before to ask about an early arrival (I even returned their call to let them know that it was possible I would arrive a little early). They seem to have a policy of not actually staffing this location during most of the day. This causes issues because there often isn't anyone on site if guests need anything. Otherwise, stay was OK. Comfy bed, slightly ratty but OK room, some old house charm.

- Sylvia (10/5): Comfy - Old school feel , nice view Parking , ice on the walk way. The room was very hot , unable to adjust temperature. Everything else was great and comfortable .
- Duckkwan (1/5): 싼게 비지떡 - 싼게 비지떡 모든게 최악
- Judy (7/5): On the phone staff very helpful in terms of letting me come a little early because of snow. - I didnt expect a lot of choices from Beacon Inn' description of light breakfast.I figured muffin, maybe toast and fruit.
Especially with early predictions of snow coming - that they could have made sure there was a little more. Just boxed cereal [all with sugar], instant oatmeal [all with sugar], no kind of bread- though there were packets of pnut butter and creamcheese. and only two kinds of tea-both caffinaited. Seems picky but I stayed for 2 days and knew Id be snowed in... but hoping for morning choices.
- Ann (3/5): Old and “unloved” property. Hard pillows, thin towels -
- Aurelie (8/5): - The attic room was spacious, with light and a great view. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The mattress was sinking in the center, not that great for 2 people
- Thierry (6/5): good over all but need to improve breakfast area and parking price and quality - the room is comfortable,
the breakfast was good but need improvement
the location is perfect the location of the parking lot
the price for the uncomfortable parking
- Lisa (7/5): It is a comfortable place at a decent price for the area. - It's a nice old place. Nicely decorated. Comfortable beds. The MBTA ran right in front so easy accessibility. I didn't know about the limited parking and the price of parking. Also being on third floor and no elevators.
- MEHMET (10/5): -
- Alan (7/5): It was a neat place to stay for the one night I needed to stay 😌 - There were snacks on offer and very comfortable bed. The service was nice The food was too cold and the coffee not great. The toaster wasn't working.
- Gladys (7/5): Very comfortable and conveniente oit amenties - I love the comfort of bed and the coziness of the hotel. The stairs
- Gladys (9/5): Ámazing, staff was on point love them all the same - The cozibess especially the bedding A wider variery of breakfast items
- Brad (6/5): -
- Stefan (8/5): -
- Kelly (7/5): Great location, great staff, needs upgrade - Location was great Shower was too small, floors creaked, mattresses very squeaky when you moved. Outlets were loose and didn’t stay plugged in, sink was clogged and drained slow.
- Judith (7/5): Excellent to get public transportation , and close tointeresting sites - Breakfast muffins were delicious. Great having coffee in morning.Would definitely stay again Difficulty with stairs. Let people know that it is not handicap accessible
- John (7/5): -
- Michael (4/5): - TV did not work even had staff come in room and try to get it. Window AC was pretty loud. Otherwise it was fine, liked the location. We should get a small,$25, refund for the TV which was a disappointment in the later evening.

- Annel (10/5): Felt like home away from home - Very homey, warm and comfortable, nice staff, perfect location
- Deborah (9/5): Very nice but temperature controls would be nice. - Location
Cleanliness Too hot
- Bonnie (8/5): -
- James W (9/5): Great location. - The room was clean and quiet great price and location to Dana Farber was good Room was on the 3rd floor. Going through cancer treatment can make that a little challenging. This was a last minute trip and reservation. At was close by to where we needed to be
- Wayne (6/5): - Location with plenty of restaurants and right at train station Very bad mattress! Poor cleanliness and maintenance in general.
- Irit (10/5): -
- Khieu (8/5): Super cozy and eclectic stay. - Great service, comfortable beds, adorable inn. Convenient amenities. Would 100% stay again.
- Riya (10/5): - It was super cute! The staff was kind! The room was clean and supplied with everything necessary. Access to the train as well!! Perfect for a solo traveler!!
- Barbara (3/5): - Location worked for us and restaurants were a walkable distance. Room was very different than what was represented on the website and not in a good way Touted as historic and elegant, it was an old and marginally maintained house. Our room was furnished with cheap furniture that wasn't antique; it looked like used Walmart furniture. The room wasn't clean, the tub didn't drain, the wall paper was peeling, there were no windows, and the list goes on.
- Hatice (6/5): - I hang "Do not disturb" sign, but each day someone enter the room just take a trah and go.
I think they do not know the sign meaning
- Michael (10/5): - Room comfortable and clean. Love the location and parking on site. Would certainly stay there again.
- Thomas (10/5): - Staff was friendly and room comfortable. In a good area with restaurants in walking distance.
- Peloquin (7/5): Quaint old building with comfy rooms and friendly staff - Everything was good! I was on the 4th floor which might have been a problem for some consumers but I was ok with it.I could have used a full length mirror in the room. Breakfast could have been a little more generous ( no fresh fruit or yogurt)
Overall , a good experience
Coffee was really good! Parking should be included in the hotel fee or disclosed as not included when booking. I found parking at 1788 Beacon St. Through the police dept for 10.00
- Erika (6/5): In desperate need of a glow up - Have you ever wondered what it would be like to stay in a dusty old doll house? Here's your chance. Hotel Beacon Inn 1750 is a conundrum. The location is great, right on the T, Green Line, with easy access to the medical district, Fenway, and nice restaurants/cafés within walking distance. The price is a good value for Brookline. The front desk attendant was friendly.
The problem is this old girl has seen better days. Check in is mashed up with the 'breakfast' service area, just inside the front door. The rooms are in rough shape, and the bathroom was in bad shape. The brand new television hung on the wall didn't work. No night tables by the bed and only two outlets in the room. The window air conditioner was taped into the window.
Hotel Beacon Inn 1750 needs a glow up in the worst way but has a few good attributes most specifically location and walkability.
- Rebekah (8/5): Great location, good value for what you get, would stay again. - It was really spacious and perfect for what I needed for a couple of nights last minute. The staff were really kind and accommodating! The room I was in was right by the street and by the lobby area so at times it could be loud, but honestly it wasn’t unbearable by any means.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Not very clean and had mosquitos and flies in my room. Outer door to fire escape would not lock and the tv was very confusing?
- Lan (10/5): - Great service!
- caroline (7/5): Décevant. - L’emplacement et le tarif. Chambre au plafond très bas, située au dernier etage sans ascenceur. Le personnel parfois absent, dans tous les sens du terme. Petit déjeuner quasi inexistant.
- Danielle (9/5): -
- Lynda (4/5): - Where to begin……I flew to Boston with my daughter to get her settled into a place nearby the hotel as she was attending BU in the fall. I was there for 6 days total and the first few days wasn’t bad until finding out a few items purchased at the BU campus store were stolen!! I told a young man named James what happened and he was so nonchalant about the matter stating he didn’t think it could be his housekeeper! The male housekeeper was the only person in our room!! Who else could it be other than staff at that point. I received no apologies, just said he would relay this to the manager. I asked him for a managers name and he refused to give me this info!! What kind of Mickey Mouse running hotel is this?! Words cannot express my anger and frustration. I had to call Expedia and take it up with them instead. I regret ever staying at that ridiculous hotel. I would not recommend this place to anyone especially if you don’t want your belongings missing!!
- Ashley (2/5): - There is nothing we would recommend about this property. The room was dirty. Crumbs on the mantle and table, the bathroom had “splatter” all over the sink and medicine cabinet along with balls of hair on the floor and in the mats. The bathtub still had dirt from the previous user on the bottom of it as well as hair coming out of the drain. The linens all had a yellow stain or two on them. The air conditioner would only do one temperature. Parking is quite sketchy. We were very disappointed.
- Ruth (6/5): It was pleasant. - The staff was very helpful and accommodating.
The location is very good. There breakfast area was not stocked at 7am , no coffee , creamers etc. Cabinet fairly empty also.
Hook on the back of bathroom door fell off when I went to hang something. The towels are very thin and don't absorb much water, they need to be replaced.
- John (10/5): - Excellent for the price and location.
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional - Location, quaint, staff great Breakfast
- Heena (6/5): -
- Brenda (10/5): - We were there literally ten hours, but it was a great place to stay. Our train was stuck on the track for hours, so we missed out on our evening in Boston before a dr appt. We will be coming back to Boston, and will definitely stay here again. It is clean and comfortable, and access to transportation is great. It is a great place to stay and a great value too.
- Vanessa (5/5): It is very good for a night's sleep - breakfast is snacks.
Room is clean, there isn't any outlet to charge my phone except in the bathroom.
Location is very convenient for me. No charging outlets.
You can hear people outside of your room because the door has a big empty space on the bottom
- Karen (8/5): - I’m at wrong building but staff is great
- Rachel Anne (10/5): - Everything was lovely but the area parking.
- Jared (8/5): - Beacon 1750 is a "you get what you pay for" boutique hotel. Even modest hotels near the city center cost at least $300/night, so for $200/night this property met my expectations. First, it's about 2 miles (15 minutes on the trolley) west of the metro/tourist zone in a residential neighborhood. Second, it's rough around the edges but functional. The negatives: the bathroom was tiny, the towels thin, there were no outlets near the beds and the room was clean enough but not immaculate. The positives: the hotel feels very safe, the beds were comfortable and it was very easy transporting to and from "the city".
- Ibrahim (8/5): Very good -
- Trichtinger (8/5): July visit - The location was great.
A walk-in shower was appreciated. Glad to have the snacks in the evening. Muffins were good but always the same. Different or a variety of muffins would be a nice change
- PHYLLIS (10/5): - Very historic building nestled in Brookline. Building is warm. But luckily the room we were in had sufficient AC. The tv was broken my biggest complaint. But very homey would stay again
- Leeb (10/5): Quick and comfortable - Location! Location! Location!
Fun and funky. Luxury accommodations this isn’t but it is clean, comfortable, and funky. So, really there isn’t anything we didn’t like.
- Bourque (1/5): Will Not Reurn - Last minute reservation to attend a funeral service. Walking distance (.2 miles) to a great Jewish Deli. Staff was courteous, all young college students ( never met the same one twice) This is not a B & B. Its a bed and stay. Notification received after reservation parking requires additional fee of 33 dollars.
In an alley , leave keys at desk , may move your car to let some else out. We were wedged between trash can and a vehicle with a flat tire. Parking to front door access through a brick tunnel, broken ,irregular height pavement, trash cans, rodent boxes.
Room must wear shoes exposed nails, raised floor board nailed over ? old heat register , small flying insects in tub drain. Verbally let front desk know about insects. Pictures on sight do not accurately reflect current state of dwelling
- Peter (8/5): - I like Coolidge Corner. Parking is a bit difficult but doable
- Clare (3/5): Poor - The location No elevator (which was not specified in booking process) which made it very difficult to get luggage to the 4th floor.
The room was not very clean, the bed linen was very poor quality and uncomfortable, the mattress sagged and was uncomfortable and the bathroom was in poor condition.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Simple, basic, clean - I had to be in Boston at the last minute over the July 4 holiday. I was happy to find this reasonably-priced room in the area where I needed to be. It was clean, quiet and basic. Had the feel of someone's infrequently used guest room. The bathroom sink was slow, but other than that everything was fine. Note that if you plan to arrive late, you ll need to alert the hotel ahead of time so they leave a key for you. I didn't see this when I first booked, but luckily I read the fine print.
- Rebecca (1/5): Bed Bugs! Do not stay at this hotel! - Bed Bugs. Bed covering stained with blood. Shower curtain rail coming off the wall. Carpets dirty. Toaster oven filled with debris. Had to sleep on the floor because of the bugs in my bed. Have a photo to prove it. Showed the front desk and NOTHING to compensate me for it. Booking.com is harming their brand by affiliation with this horrendous and horrible hotel. EVERYTHING but particularly BED BUGS!!
- ed (8/5): - pleasant, quiet room. Would have been nice to have good coffee but we would stay there again.
- Mindy (4/5): - Nice historic ambiance. Had to fix the mounting of the ac unit myself with towels and cardboard given by the staff. Offered maintenance the next day.
- Sam (4/5): - The hotel is fairly cheap, and unfortunately the quality of the room aligns with the price. The large bed was put up against an old fireplace in the room with no backboard, so above your head is a dusty cave all night. The outlets were all loose, making it less convenient to charge my devices. A little bit of effort would go a long way here.
The room I had was right behind reception and only had a small doorknob lock, I didn't feel very safe without a deadbolt or other stopper. In addition, my location was very noisy as guests checked in the rest of the day (I could hear each one)
- Angela (9/5): Lovely Brownstone - Love the old brownstone in nice quiet neighborhood. Restaurants walkable. Comfy room but on 4th floor. Hope you don't have much luggage to carry up! Nice staff.
Fee for parking.
- Tarrie (10/5): - Lovely place close in Brookline. Parece t for a few nights. Would recommend!
- Meri (10/5): - Only good things to report. Excellent customer service. Good location. Love the feel of the brownstone.
- Felix (10/5): Exceptional -
- Connie (8/5): - Property is really clean. Plenty of hot water and the continental breakfast was a surprise with plenty of choices.
It was cold while I was unseasonably cold while I was there. They did turn on the heat Friday night but shut it off
on Saturday and it was cold in the room Sunday night and the front desk could not turn it on. They need to improve that service.
- Isabella (8/5): - Excellent customer service, very clean. Good public transportation
- Martinez (8/5): I would stay there again. - The Staff, Rooms and the Location were great! Need to be a little more updated.
- Daniel (8/5): I would stay again. - Location. Green-C stop about 200 feet away. Lovely old home conversion on Beacon St. Staff is accommodating and attentive. Needs a bit of TLC. Like so many older homes, the beautiful woodwork is covered with multiple layers of white paint. Some ordinary maintenance of doorknobs and interior latches would help. That being said, the structure and all around it are probably 125-150 years old so don't expect a slick new stainless steel and glass facility.
- Angela (10/5): - Nice location, no water for coffee
- Mark (4/5): No elevator - Only after checking in to a third or fourth floor room and finding no elevator and going back thru Hotels.com listing a scrolling down thru the Inn’s description, did I find the comment of NO ELEVATOR.
- Scott (8/5): - We liked it. It’s an old home, and the rooms are just off the main floor. For instance, the coffee maker was about a foot from our door. Our door was a standard interior door, so the feeling of someone right outside our bedroom wasn’t great. The staff is very nice and accommodating.
- Jennifer (10/5): - The Beacon Inn was quaint, clean, and comfortable. Great location with easy access to the train/subway. Would highly recommend it.
- Marie (7/5): Good -
- Diane (1/5): Bad - Not a thing The whole experience
- lynn (10/5): - Nice staff , breakfast muffins great
- William (8/5): Very good -
- Laura (8/5): - Friendly, quiet, well located.
- Terrie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zoe (6/5): Comfortable enough, but could use updates - Our stay was fine- but the rooms could really use some updates. Everything just looks a little rough-around-the edges. Clean and comfortable enough. But there seems to be no care put into the decor… It was also strange that several mattresses were being removed from the rooms while we were there. It seems like this is what you get for under $200. Ultimately, it was fine, but not nice enough to ever want to return.
- Adel (8/5): Good Authentic Inn - The authenticity and style of the building, stairs, room and overall vibe. Lack of AC in my room. Other rooms had window units so overall it may have AC??? Not sure.
