The car park was just outside and secured by a gate, accessible only to guests. Unfortunately, the beds were too soft for us, and we did not have a restful night, but we are used to very firm beds.

• Mona (8/5): Absolutely fine stay - The room was a large size, bed was comfortable! Our bathroom was a good size, shower was great. Staff were friendly! Affordable stay and there’s a pub right next door!

The secure parking was also a great asset of security. The short walk to the Hotel provided a great value buffet that was thoroughly enjoyed. There was no instructions for using the tv and being techo illiterate I failed to find a TV station. They did provide a help service but I do not like calling late at night for minor issues, whereas instructions could have been provided.

Being woken at 2am by a person beeping their horn x5 times in motels locked carpark where I am supposed to feel safe! Yet I was opening our door and telling another customer to stop beeping their car horn.

When I booked, I wasn't sure about the property because it was very cheap compared to others, but I was pleasantly surprised. I have paid more than double the price for rooms of lesser quality. Good on-site parking with gated entry. The room was spotlessly clean and refurbished to a high standard. If I were in the area again, I would definitely stay here. nil

Although I’ve said that the rooms are always clean, this time there was an overpowering smell of bleach in the bathroom that was also evident in the room where we slept. Only really a small issue.

The location was good distance with their pub, local shops and train station. The room does not have clothes drawers. The toilet flush was a bit slow. The door was not easily locked.

• Harald (1/5): Because of this comments we organised somewhere else to stay. - Location of the property was good. Staff where helpful. The wardrobe was full of cobwebs and dirty and then under most cupboards as well. It was not inviting. When we moved in an other apartment at 3am in the morning it was cleaner but the floor was sticky. Next morning we talked to the Lady manager and she said that it is normal in this country area and there is nothing to complain for this price.

• Russell (8/5): Very satisfied, good value and friendly. - We got early access to our room which was appreciated as we were carrying packs. The staff were very friendly and cooperative. The room was clean comfortable and well serviced. We stayed for three nights and considered it very good value. The effectiveness of the air conditioner. The room was quite warm and the air conditioner ran continually despite being set at 21 degrees. As a train traveler being positioned about mid way between Ferntree Gully and Upper Ferntree Gully stations meant a walk of around a kilometre. A small criticism that would not effect a return visit.
