Guest Reviews
- Trent (10/5): -
- Brenda (10/5): - Ski in ski out The stairs
- Brenda (10/5): - Ski in ski out is great, wonderful staff. No elevator, only stairs.
- Kelli (8/5): - Beautiful hot tub. Temperature was perfect. Heated pool very nice.
- Brian (10/5): - The property was well maintained; but due too it's age they don't have a lot of room or service options for guest with limited mobility, or a general inability to climb stairs; still the staff went out of their way to be helpful and considerate of me, during my resent stay; shout-out to Steve, Elana and Alex for their efforts on my behalf, as well as their general good nature and professionalism; Even tho I was only there for a wedding event, I would definitely stay there again, and recommend the resort as a very good option for anyone vacationing or planning a wedding in the area; their full-service wedding coordination was the best I've ever been a party to...
- Jeffrey (6/5): No coffee? - For the price they could've at LEAST put a coffee maker in the room. They didnt have breakfast, or coffee. We had to drive 20 minutes to get a coffee in the morning. They had a restaurant but it was closed. The hallway had old dated carpet and dirty walls. We had to climb up a flight of stairs to get to our room. It just didn't live up to it's name IMO
- Jennifer (10/5): - Great golf , room and amenities. Staff helped me with our luggage since there is not an elevator.
- Ross (7/5): We would like to come back if dinner was available on-site. - Beautiful wooded setting. Clean spacious room. Ultimately, the manager gave us a discount for the reasons stated below - A happy result. No food was available on-site, and the closest restaurant is 16 miles R/T. A dining provision for guests needs to be offered. In the summer, how difficult would it be to have a grill set up outside with a chef flipping burgers and sausages? A tub of beer & soda on ice. Fun, effective, and scalable!
Also, loud construction noise was an issue in the morning.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Such a great stay. So quiet and gorgeous! Highly recommend
- Beth (10/5): - Great stay, clean room and friendly staff. Highly recommend!
- David (10/5): - Pool and hot tub. Awesome!
Outdoor heated crystal clear waters
- Mary (8/5): - The views were stunning and the room was beautiful. The bathroom was very small and we had to run the water for at least 10 minutes in order to get warm water for a shower.
- JAMES C (8/5): Seniors Beware - Bar restaurant was closed on Sunday evening. We found out it was only open on weekends. Lodge has no elevator we had to walk up steep stairs to the second floor. Clerk wanted $80 to upgrade to a main floor room. Building has no Smoke alarms, sprinklers or fire detection.
Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Had to run the hot water at least for 5 minutes to get hot water to the sink and shower.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Highly Recommend it, very comfortable but wish they had included breakfast in mornings.
- Leah (4/5): Unsatisfied - When we arrived, we noticed there was a rehearsal dinner in progress. We were told at check-in that there was a wedding all weekend. We had to leave to eat lunch and dinner because the diner was closed due to the wedding. We planned on being at the resort a majority of the time to relax and golf. Unfortunately we had to leave to eat and didn't enjoy our experience to the fullest. This is something we should have been informed of prior to check-in. We definitely would have spent our money elsewhere if we would have known this.
- DEBORAH (3/5): - The room looks nice Had to run the hot water for 15 minutes for it to be Luke warm never got hot. Beds uncomfortable. No microwave in the room
- Yuri (10/5): - Friendly staff. Good value.
- Padmaja (6/5): - Expected a lot more amenities from the way the hotel looked in pictures and for the price I paid. They didn’t even have a tissue box or a coffee machine in the room. They only had one soap which we had to use for the outside washbasin and for a shower inside the bathroom.
- Aarica (10/5): - Staff was really helpful and kind. The restaurant was closed due to a wedding so we had to drive to dine. Beautiful property, room was simple and clean.
- Paula (10/5): - Great place to go.
- virginia (6/5): A Very Plain Stay - The room and main areas of the hotel were clean, but there was quite a bit of noise in the Hal. Voices and door slams really carried in the building. The bathroom was ridiculously small and difficult. Front desk staff was friendly, but the hotel had very few amenities and absolutely no nighttime choices for food.Pool was very small and taken over by one party of people for the entire evening.
- Jason (9/5): Superb - Very clean. Friendly staff. Far from any restaurant or bars
- Mindy (10/5): - Yep
- Sidney (8/5): Very good - There was no elevator to our room. At our age going up a steep stairway was difficult. Thankfully the desk person helped. I think your ad should the no elevator situation.
- Carla (8/5): - Beautiful hotel and grounds. Clean and warm pool and hot tub! Friendly staff. Cool handmade furniture.
- shane (10/5): - Passing through on a Thursday. Great value for what they offered. Clean, polite, quiet
- Craig (2/5): You have to walk - Everyone was pleasant and helpful, but it went downhill from there. I had booked a double queen room, got there and found it was on the second floor with no elevators or baggage carts; I have some health conditions which limit my motion and balance, and getting up the steps was going to be difficult. I couldn't get the room changed to the first floor because, as they told me, first floor was all kings and I had booked a queen. So... up the steep and narrow stairs we went, with me hanging onto the rail and lifting my bag up one step at a time.
Room was OK once we got to it, except that the bathroom was small and cramped. No breakfast except for some old coffee, granola bars and pop-tarts left on the counter, nearest restaurant open at breakfast time is in town fourteen miles away.
The front desk closed and padlock went on the soda machine at 7 pm. There were some handicapped parking spaces, though, so it wasn't quite as far when we came bumping down the stairs slowly and backwards the next morning.
It was the off season with hardly anyone around, we were there for a family event and it's probably a lot better during ski season when the place is full and busy. Definitely some frustrations this time, though, particularly with the room change.
- Tim (10/5): - Great!
- Lina (8/5): Quiet, peaceful - Nice location There’s no elevator
- Miranda (8/5): - The stay was awesome! Came from out of town for my brother’s wedding. It was off season so not too much to do unless you travel back into town.
- Shae (10/5): - During the summer months, this is a hidden gem!
- Clinton (6/5): - Pricey for offseason. Restaurant was closed. No elevator.
- Mark (10/5): - Normal size room, two queen beds, very clean, no in room coffee maker BUT there is a coffee machine in the lobby available 24-7, 32 room golf/ ski resort. Immaculate grounds, pool is heated, small, has a hot tub (didnt use either), tons of parking, at least during non-ski times. Overall, great place to stay. It is off the beaten road and tucked away in the forest. Second time there and certainly not the last.
- Steven (10/5): - Beautiful place. Great balcony.
- Jeff (10/5): - Love this place! We've been back 3 times!
- Castro (3/5): Never go back, glad it was only one night - Nice looking building No elevator, no luggage cart, no open restaurant, over priced for off season, pull out sofa very uncomfortable.
- Thequick (10/5): Had a great stay and will definitely come again! - The young lady at the front desk was nothing but exceptional! Friendly, helpful, she was just the best! No issues
- Thomas (8/5): - Lovely property with friendly staff
- Jeanne (6/5): Disappointing - We did not feel welcome at this hotel. We have been road-tripping as a family through Michigan and this was our only negative experience. The guy who runs the breakfast in the morning is particularly rude and unhelpful- (there’s a really nice waitress though-put her in charge?)
We went to places that were less expensive yet more comfortable and friendlier. Also: dead frogs floating in the pool?!!!
- Peter (10/5): - None
- Andrea (10/5): - it was very clean and well maintained
- James (8/5): Nice Hotel - Nice, clean hotel. Upset that the lobby bar and grill was closed for a private party and had to drive to get food at 8 pm.
- Ruben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonald (9/5): Something else - Most of it
- Lonas (6/5): Pleasant - Staff was great carried my bag up 3 flights of stairs. No elevator
- Edward (10/5): - Beautiful area
- Pierre-jean (8/5): Great place for a summer or winter getaway, a bit expensive for what it is, however excellent staff - We did not have breakfast as this was a stop to another end destination. It must be very nice in the winter. The rooms are similar to ski resorts in Europe. The mountain was higher than we expected. The outdoor pool in front of the building looked very nice but it was late and there were also quite a few people out there already so we opted for sleeping a bit longer. The parking lot made the property very accessible. Finally, outstanding service, they even gave us a call back because we forgot something... We would recommend this place without hesitation. Thank you! The bathrooms could use some renovation, especially the showers, the water temperature was hard to adjust. A bit more shower gel in the rooms would be nice.
- Helen D (2/5): Over charged and no food - I was over charged when I checked in even though I had proof of paying my deposit. The restaurant wasn't open and we were not made aware of that. Closest food options were over 30 minutes away. Not a good experience.
- Judith (8/5): It was friendly and relaxing - Location Restaurant was closed and small bathroom
- Joseph (10/5): A nice value - It is well known that this property inexplicably has no elevator. It is located in a somewhat remote area with no real dining options or retail options close by.
The bathroom in our room was surprisingly small, but the room was spacious. The room was clean. The pool and spa were outdoors.
Overall, not a bad place to stay for the money. Just try to get a room on the first floor :)
- Travis (8/5): Quiet and cozy - Simple room but great resort
- todd (10/5): - It was a nice quite stay
- Elyzabeth (8/5): Would stay again! - Great location and staff. No elevators made it difficult to bring luggage up to the 3rd floor
- Rhiannon (10/5): - Great!
- Archie (10/5): What a Gem - This place was a little hidden gem. Reserved a room in the off ski season. Very laid back, quiet and comfortable. Check in was very easy. Room was exceptionally comfortable. Cleanliness 10 out of 10 . Prior to my stay i read reviews regarding door not locking The door locks but if you open from the inside it will open making you think its not locked however it is just the style of the lock, It does in fact work properly and lock. I would definitely stay again and recommend
- Christian (10/5): - Na
- Service (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff, great location.
- Steve (8/5): - Beautiful area, but no restaurant and you are 20 minute drive away from anything decent to eat. No workout facilities.
- Jeff (10/5): - Fantastic place to stay, Shane at the front desk is awesome! Met great people around the fire and outdoor hot tub. We can't wait to go back!
- Ivy (10/5): - Beautiful! Nice balconey off the room with table.
- Steven (10/5): - it's a little dated, but very clean. Beatniks Breakfast was very good quality. Staff was super friendly! Room was very comfortable. My wife loved it!
- Suzanne (9/5): Over all great experience! - The room as super clean and very nice and spacious. The bed was comfortable.we had a king size. Tje bathroom room and shower was fantastic. The shower was high enough my son in law 6’.6 could have used it with out bending over. But he was not with us. The hotel actually looked like the pic. There was a breakfast but we had to go so we did partake. Over all experience was fantastic. Nice walking trail also. We are planning on booking to stay there again.
- Virginia (10/5): Good stay - The stay was good the only issue I had was that the room was opened when I got there. Door wouldn’t close or lock so I had to put the couch in front of the door to keep it closed for the night
- Lisa (10/5): Great! - Staff and amenities are wonderful!
- Niddodi (8/5): - We just stayed here for one night on our way to upper Michigan. Property is away from the city. Not all rooms are renovated. But the one we got was clean and spacious. Easy checkin. Only thing which is mentioned in the listing but we missed to read is that there are no elevators.
- Rowley (9/5): Superb - Cell reception was terrible, even with the WiFi. Our overall experience was wonderful and are hoping to stay again. We were disappointed that the Bar & Grill was closed. The Bar & Grill was closed. We were able to purchase a 6 pack at the front desk so that helped. Didn't want to drive back into town so we ate out of the vending macine.
- Heather (6/5): No hospitality - We walked in they gave us a key never once told us anything about the hotel. We found out the restaurant and bar were not open during our stay that was a big thing for us we were never told about the breakfast option.says no smoking people were smoking on deck.. No hospitality at all
- Lisa (10/5): - Quiet and very old school (they had key keys)
- Norman J. (10/5): - Being awakened at 6:00AM by a Beer delivery truck being unloaded and loaded in back of the facility.
- Sherri (10/5): - The location was amazing and the staff friendly
- Robert (6/5): - It’s was a nice place to stay for one night.
- Adam (2/5): Disappointing - Nothing The shower didn't have pressure because it has leaks everywhere. The fridge didn't work, the bed skirt was nasty. The restaurant was closed. We couldn'trent the golf carts. The pool is really small. There's no elevator, eo we had to carry everything to the 3er floor using the stairs. And nothing was close by.
- Evelyn (4/5): - Lack of accessible restrooms in banquet facilities, no elevator, many stairs. Rooms need updating. Bathrooms inside room horribly small and tub shower a fall hazard.
- Judy (10/5): Amazing stay! - It was amazing. The staff went above and beyond.
- Marcia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wojciech (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Jill (8/5): - Positives. Love heated hot tub and pool. Nice rooms. All staff was awesome. Negatives. Huge issue with WiFi. No elevator, no microwave in room and tons of kids past 100 running races in the hall
- Kate (7/5): Good -
- Laythen (10/5): - So good for families! Will definitely stay here again!!!
- Tim (1/5): Ridiculous! At this point, I don't feel that we will go up there anymore! - We have went up there 5 times lately now, and it feels like being at A frat house! Ever since they built the rental hall it is full of drunken wedding quest's. The restaurant and bar is never open, and there is nowhere else to eat near it. The room was loaded with flies and lady bugs. Pool closes at 10:00 but it was full of loud drunk's all night long. We used to love this place! everything that was stated on the booking, for amenities! Go back to the way that it used to be A nice resort in the middle of nowhere. Concentrate on quest's, and not just the wedding patrons! At this point, I don't feel that we will go up there anymore!
- Don (5/5): This was our last chance stop to stay somewhere. - There was no breakfast. Coffee machine was terrible. No elevator. Everything
- Della (8/5): Fall retreat. - Old school Ski Lodge. No elevator. Rooms are only what is needed. Shower has to warm up for awhile. Staff were great! Pool and Hot tub were nice! Beds are comfortable.
- Susan (10/5): - Tucked away in the woods, this hotel would be a quiet respite away from the world. We only stayed one night, as we were on our way somewhere else, but I wish we could have stayed much longer. We stayed during late summer, so I bet the place is bustling during the winter/skiing season. But my stay was blissfully quiet and safe.
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tina (10/5): - Easy and quick. Too bad there is no elevator. Not a bad climb but it can be a bit much with lots to carry!
- Matthew (9/5): Hidden gem - Very clean, very quiet, GREAT rate for a very nice room. A little off the beaten path...but only 15 minutes to drive to Cadillac. Also the in hotel bar was not open which was disappointing. But all things considered areally nice place.
- Beth (6/5): - This hotel is just average. The staff were friendly- but the restaurant was closed for dinner, forcing us to drive for several iles to get something to eat. And their breakfast was a joke. $10 for food that my husband said was worse than military food. Staff were friendly. Maybe it's better on a weekend.
- Terry (10/5): Was nice it was a unique experience better then being in city - Very friendly staff and nice outdoor setting
- Mary (10/5): - Minimal amenities at this hotel.
- Hensley (7/5): We had a nice get away but will prouba le stay closer to town next time - The kids enjoyed the pool There was no coffee pot, microwave, or elevator
- Suzanne (9/5): Fine - Location , rustic , clean , mop Need walking trails in the woods
- Nandani (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bruce (3/5): Think twice before staying here. Not a good value. Pitiful customer focus. - Not much besides location and availability. Beds were comfortable. Lack of elevator not disclosed until check-in. Steep stairways with minimal tread depth increases risk of falling. TINY bathroom forces one to sit sideways on throne due to terrible toilet roll location. Breathtaking view of rear parking lot through small window. Lack of food / bar service staff because they were assigned to a more profitable private event on a Friday night.
- Natalia (10/5): Exceptional - Pool, peaceful atmosphere, nice staff Everything was great!
- Susan (8/5): Ask for a main floor stay if possible! - The biggest issue is we were staying on the upper floor, but there is not an elevator or valet service for our bags! Other than that the stay was pleasant.
- Catherine (10/5): Amazing surprise - Beautiful property surrounded by national forest
- sarah (10/5): - I love how chill everything was and how quite it was, the staff was fabulous. Rooms were basic but served its purpose. The pool was warm and beautiful.
- Debra (6/5): - The beds were comfortable. The water in the shower takes ten minutes to heat up so be patient. We didn’t get a room with a balcony so the room only had one small 30” x 30” window that did not open. The electricity was out for about 4 hours so we sat outside by the pool for an hour. Couldn’t turn on air conditioner so it would have been nice to be able to open the window. The furniture is a bit beat up. And there was no breakfast. Bar and restaurant was closed. Staff was nice and friendly. Free coffee in lobby but not in room. This is a no frills motel.
And you would think management would have compensated their customers with something. We had to all go back to our rooms in the dark and make our way in the room with the light on our cell phones. No one told us the reason for electricity to shut off because there was no bad weather.
- Mary (8/5): - We were pleasantly surprised with the resort. The room was clean, bathroom nice and bed was comfortable.
There was no brekfast and no elevator, but we only stayed overnight.
The staff was very friendly.
