- Catherine (10/5): Excellent, well managed hotel. Definitely a great place to stay in Roscommon!! - This is a friendly, fun hotel that even the locals seem to enjoy. You can always get a pot of tea, a snack, a meal.. They are very accommodating. 5 star service!! Nothing!! It’s great!!

- Reinhard MS (8/5): Ordentliches Hotel im Ort - Es ist ein gutes Hotel mitten im Ort. In einem Bereiche wurde die Renovierung gerade fertig gestellt. Das frisch renovierte Zimmer war super. Frühstück war ok. Preis/Leistung stimmt! Unser zweites Zimmer war nicht renoviert und "old school". Eine Auffrischung ist dringend notwendig. Das Abendessen hat uns auch nicht so wirklich überzeugt.

I thought this was strange. The room was very dated but really clean. The room had everything you’d need except an iron. The breakfast was lovely and the staff were really pleasant.

Noisy air con or whatever was making the horrendous noise outside my window at 6a.m. Struggled to turn the shower on, had to get help as it was so hard to turn the plastic dial.

Nothing too much trouble It's not that we didn't like it, but we booked 3 rooms - some more updated than others. A few of the rooms had heaters in to keep them warm, but I understand renovations are in progress

- Theresa (10/5): It was like home from home! Thank you for the warm Roscommon Welcome! - Firstly I have to commend the excellent staff at Gleeson's. Every member made you feel so welcome and valued. That was the biggest bonus. They will do what they can to help guests out...within reason obviously but they definitely went above and beyond for me. The food is also excellent there. I am vegetarian and there were a couple of options. As well as the wonderful breakfast I ate lunch there and dinner on a few nights during my stay. It didn't disappoint. It is also so close to Athlone and other places I wanted to visit so a great location all round. Nothing.

- Kira (6/5): Book direct, and know what you're getting - My first recommendation is that, if you want to book, do so directly with Gleeson's, because the price I paid through booking.com was almost twice what Gleeson's charges direct. This family-run establishment is served by really helpful and mostly friendly employees. As other reviews say, the breakfast is quite good, and I highly recommend trying their homemade scones if you have any interest. So, the breakfast and location are good and the staff is really nice. There are quite a few downsides. I heard every single person who walked by my door or up or down the stairs which were right by my room. I also heard everything from the rooms on either side, because it seems the walls are paper thin. Additionally, the rooms are quite dated and less in a charming way, and more in a 'wow, this is old and stained' kind of way (see pictures of chair and carpet). So, the room was loud and pretty dingy. Also keep in mind that when they say 'double bed,' they mean it. As two adults used to a queen, neither got much sleep.

- Brendan (10/5): Great stay at Gleesons R&R for my week in Roscommon. Comfortable room, good food and friendly staff made for a food - Great location, comfortable room and friendly staff. No concerns and all good
- Brian (9/5): Gleesons' is what hotels should be. I'd live there permanently if I could afford it! - All staff were friendly, professional, and efficient. Karen at Reception was particularly kind and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, with great choices of cooked options to suit different tastes and appetites. Dinner was lovely and good value. Hotel is very comfortable and cosy. Location seems central to everything in the town. I stayed in two rooms, the first a twin. Despite turning on the radiator, it didn't generate much heat. Radiators seem to be turned off by default. A friend staying in another room needed my advice on how to turn theirs on. Maybe some advice about that when checking in would be good. There are supplementary oil-filled electric rads provided but I imagine some guests might not be familiar with them. I'm not complaining - I wasn't cold. This comment is intended to be helpful to the Hotel, rather than a criticism.

- David (10/5): Excellent, friendly, funny and helpful staff, excellent food (particularly the lamb stew!!). - I loved the full Irish breakfast, served every day by friendly staff. The location was excellent, right next to the tourist office and a number off local bars. Public transport connections (rail and bus) were also within easy walking distance. I really can't think of w word of criticism...if I was being *picky* it was that I was unclear where I had to drop the key off at the end of my stay.
