Guest Reviews
- hussein (10/5): - Goog good
- Praneeth (2/5): - Terrible Experience – Misleading Charges and Poor Room Conditions
I recently stayed at America’s Best Value Inn in Bowling Green, KY, and it was one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a motel.
I booked a room for two nights with two double beds through Expedia for a total of $134. However, when I arrived at 4:00 AM to check in, the front desk staff demanded an additional $58.I explained that I had already paid online, but they refused to give me the room unless I paid more. At that late hour, I had no choice but to pay, which felt like a scam and extremely unprofessional.
To make matters worse, when I asked for a receipt for the extra $60, the staff told me there was no receipt available and gave me excuses that made no sense. This was shady and completely unacceptable.
On top of the unfair charges, the room conditions were terrible:
• The AC did not work properly, making the room hot and uncomfortable.
• There was a bad odor in the room that never went away.
• The room had very poor ventilation.
• The actual room looked nothing like the pictures advertised online.
• The walls were cracked, especially around the bathroom fixtures.
• The bed and furniture were in terrible shape, broken and poorly repaired with makeshift supports.
• The flooring and wall trims were damaged and dirty.
The condition of the room was simply awful, as shown in the attached pictures. For the money I was forced to spend, this was completely unacceptable.
I would strongly advise others to
- Sara (2/5): Dont waste ur time and money - Horrible walked in hair on the sheets and pillows. Blood and pee stains on sheet. Lokked like it hadent been clean. We went and told the rude front desk person and they said we dont do refunds. The picyures were not accurate.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Functional. - The stay achieved its goal of safe place to stay overnight. Needs repair and cleaning. No breakfast provided as was in description at booking due to "Covid " they said yet everything is open again on not even requiring masks on domestic flights.
- Dan (6/5): - It was noisy.
- Randall (2/5): Hotel from Hell - I was greatly disappointed in the facility. The bathroom was filthy. The scum was breeding. They need to invest in Comet and elbow grease. The worst was not even having soap or toilet paper. I was infuriated to have to leave the shower wet to retrieve soap. Spend a few dollars more and go to a different motel. Also, the loud cars with bad mufflers wokee up 3 times. Maybe gangbangers.
- Lydia (2/5): - The room was dirty, and cramp. The shower head was broke and only skulding Hot water was available.
- Lynda (2/5): - Would never stay here again!!! Dirty syringe needles were outside the room- I asked if they would clean them up - they did not!!! We stayed in room 211. Burned holes in bedspread and sheet. Only 1 wash cloth for two of us. I liked that there was not carpet on the floor but the floor was very dirty!! Lighting was poor. Several places in bathroom looked to have mold. After we checked in, I went back to the lobby to talk to the young man at the front desk. He said the room was clean and it just seemed that I was looking for something to complain about. He was rude. Seems they really don’t care at all
- Lisa (4/5): - Not very Clean, needs remodeling. A step up from being homeless for most
- Gary (2/5): - Well our stay was nasty. We booked a room for two days. The room was clean when we got there. The next day we was gone all day. We returned to our room and it was not cleaned. I went to the front office and asked about it. He said it showed it was done. Then he said he was sending house keeping down to clean it. It was his son and he handed me a garbage bag, a roll of toilet paper and towels and walked away. That to me was very insulting. I call America's best customer service and wax hung up on twice. They had no free breakfast or coffee when it stated they did. If there was a way I could get my money back I would since I paid cash. I don't think that will happen.
- Kelli (10/5): - Was only there to sleep … clean room and comfy bed
- Patrick (6/5): - The sheets are stained. Tv doesn't work
- Rickey (2/5): - The condition of the room was run down and not very clean. No hot water and was moved to another room. Stayed one night and booked another room for 3 days at a different motel. Would like a refund if possible for the 2 nights I didn’t stay
- John (2/5): - The place was dirty smelled like mold
- Douglas (2/5): Worst hotel ever. - This was the nastiest hotel i have ever been in mold all over the shower flies all over smelled terrible
- jeffrey (4/5): The Olddddd Motel 6 - Young man running the place was friendly and helpfull ,after that was terrible.
Dirty, broke down ,bathtub clogged,,fan broken,,,on and on ..
For 108.00 dollars a night ,I need half my money back..
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The whole hotel experience was horrible. Riom was very dirty. There was a half empty bottle of water in the refrigerator. The toilet stopped up, when I called the office, I was told tocome get a plunger. I didn't pay to be a plumber in a hotel room. The room smelled if cigarette smoke, we do not smoke. When we arrived back at the hotel from a day out, it was raining, the rain was coming into the room from under the door. My bag was in the floor. I got to it before the water did. We didn't even check out. We just left, still had another night, but just left. The right thing, the business thing to do is to refund my money, but with a hotel like that, I doubt it!!!!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Looked like they were trying to update. First opinion of the room was good but noticed some chipped paint and areas not clean. Then walked into the bathroom and realized that they had not done anything yet. Extremely dirty, there was dirty water in and on the tub, hole at the base of the wall. Also heard the neighbor go in and out of their room, seemed like not good a sound proofing.
- Shelley (6/5): - The pool was broken so the kids didn't get to swim. This is the number one reason we stayed in a hotel
- Cherellynn (2/5): DISCUSTING AND GROSS CRACK HOTEL. - This hotel is absoulutely horrible. A 100 percent crack hotel. Homeless living in the hotel. VERY LOUD cars and people roaming around all night. Online says breakfast, there was none also no coffee. The pool was a complete mess, so bad that it was covered with a tarp. Never ever again will I book a room with americas best value. Also the room was TOTALLY GROSS. FILTHY!
- Scott (2/5): Eeewww! - Do not stay here no mater the cost!
- Charity (2/5): Horrible! Couldn’t stay the night - Arrived around 11-11:30 or so at night. Got the key and went to the downstairs room. The main lights on the ceiling didn’t work. Light in the toilet area didn’t work. Only working light was the vanity lights. Once those were on you could see toilet paper floating in the toilet. One bed was pushed up against the A/C and had black stuff from the A/C on the comforter. Asked for another room so he gave us the one next door to the first. Again lights didn’t work, light in toilet/shower area worked - there was yellow stains on the walls, rust in the tub, and tiles down showing black mold. I lost $80 on this reservation - I was so disgusted I took the key straight back to the front desk and drove another half an hour to another hotel. Never, ever again will I reserve at America’s Best!! Front desk guy wasn’t rude but seemed a bit complacent. The place is disgusting.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Before I booked it said there was a out door pool and breakfast, both were ‘closed’. There was a giant moldy wet spot in the ceiling of the shower, the toilet lifted up every time I sat on it or got up, it also had mold on it from the shower since there was no way to contain the water that came from it. When I used the shower the water got everywhere so I wiped up the spot with a towel and the floors were absolutely disgusting, like they’ve never been wiped or mopped.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lots of lifht coming through the curtains hard to sleep plus other rooms were noisy but not staffs fault over all nice place
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked the property just fine me my wife and two kids stayed here at the America's best and were treated good the rooms were clean but the walls were a little thin
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Unsafe, not felt welcomed at all by staff, dirty, faliing apart tiles in bathroom, stains in bathtub and on chair in room. Ugh.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The room smelled stale. The uncomfortable mattresses were on a wooden platform.
No breakfast items as listed on website.
We will never stay there again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Turned bed down & found crumbs. Room was dark, blown light bulbs. TV didnt work.
- Gino (6/5): not bad if your traveling - Bed was comfortable and clean but the bathroom was disgusting mold in the shower
- Motel6 (2/5): - No pool... only about
4 channels on tv. No bath tub only shower. Only ice machine is 0n the very bottom floor where u check in... very disappointed at expedia.com for leading me here for surei
- Danielle (10/5): Ood place, good service - Very nice and respectful. Clean and presentable. No complaints here.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Not very clean not very friendly and not really happy with my overall experience
- Karrie (6/5): Get what you pay for - There were no serious issues, but it wasn't the nicest room I've stayed in. The price was right for a quick stay. The place was clean, but aged. The door didn't close without extra attention. Same for the shower door and the drain was very slow. Overall, not bad, but not great. You get what you pay for.
- Alexander (2/5): Very dissatisfied - Was very disappointed. Broken end table and phone. Light burnt out..my dogs found candy under the bed. Floors not clean. Microwave didn't work unless moved to an outlet. Broken piece of light fixture on floor in bathroom. Food caked on plate of microwave. Tv was in and out.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - My experience in inexpensive motels is extensive. Most motel 6's renovated several years ago. This one advertises pics of renovated rooms and put us in the part that had not been updated in 20+ years. The toilet was bolted down, graffi on the wall, stains on everything(the bathroom walls were the most disturbing), and roaches... No bueno
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was exactly what we needed. Clean room and shower. Fridge in room was unexpected but a nice touch. Counter service was great as we checked in late. Perfect for sleeping and a shower. Plus they allow pets.
- Michael (6/5): - TV inoperable; bad weather blamed. Has happened before to me and makes me choose not to stay with Motel 6 in the future.
- Steve (4/5): - Very dirty and small.
- Bulldog (6/5): - Property was in very disrepair and had a unfinished patch in the bathroom ceiling. The room has a very musky smell.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Ok place to stay for overnight. Wouldn’t want stay for multiple nights. Room was small. Paper thin walls. Staff was friendly.
- David (4/5): Non smoking dbl bed room - The bed was comfortable but room was extra small, the wall needed painting. The bathroom shower was awful. The floor of the shower was not stable and it needed to be redone, it looked bad. The AC was good.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Nope. - Dirty bathrooms, broken shower door, unreliable TV and internet. Probably won’t go back.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Old, dirty and unkept but accept dogs at no charge. That’s the reason I stay at Motel 6.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Wasn't terrible. Some of the channels didn't come in on the TV and the showers could use some TLC
- Warren (6/5): - Location good, friendly staff but our room was actually not clean. They need to improve the cleanliness of the room and clean walls off.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Facilities seemed cheap, as though room price should be less.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - There was nothing I liked about this facility. Upon arrival, I found the room to be unacceptable, dirty shower stalls, dingy sheets, as well as a smelly room. I immediately told the the night manager that this room is not acceptable. I asked for another room. The manager stated that he did not have any other rooms. I was informed to check with him in the morning for an available room. I left the hotel and found another room 30 miles away. I then returned withing an hour to cancel my stay there. I was told that I would not be charged for 2 of the 3 nights, but I would have to wait until Monday to get a possible refund for the 1st night, although, I never stayed there. Upon my return on Monday, I was not refunded. I was extremely upset. I will never stay another Motel 6 again. Their policy of not refunding my money for a night not spent in their hotel is totally unacceptable.
S. Gatlin
- Jason (6/5): It was so-so only - Rooms are cramped for space, have slick floors, and beds are terrible
- Julia (4/5): Disappointed - Road noise was unbearable, neighbors sounded like they were in our room, as well as people on the sidewalk. Probably the worst nights sleep in a Motel for me. Staff was nice
- Verified traveler (8/5): - no breakfast was the dislike. rooms were clean but the didnt make our beds one of the nights we were there
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It was extremely unique to wake up with a cockroach on the wall.
- G.Mac (2/5): - WOW, in all my years I’ve never stayed in such a dump. We had to unpack our luggage outside after returning home, just to make sure none of the German cockroaches didn’t tag along. Do yourself a favor , and book somewhere else
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Price out of line with property condition
Room not fully equipped
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room was good besides the NASTY pee stained carpet, the smell from it and the 50yr old toilet seat and tub. But the rooms are very spacious. Nice staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It's a bit bare bones, but it is also priced accordingly.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Tv kept going out .the toilet lid wouldn't stay up ..the safety latch on the door was missing..there was a hole in the wall behind the door.i woke up with bites on me either it was bed bugs or fleas..
- SG (2/5): - The outside looked fairly decent. When we got to our room the tv didnt work and the phone line was cut. When you walked into the bathroom I was completely disgusted. It looked like it wasnt cleaned in days or maybe weeks. I literally didnt shower there and I kept my shoes on everytime I touched the ground. I had to pay 127 and i would never again go to this place. Id rather sleep outside.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - it was all good except for not having a coffee pot anywhere......we need coffee in the mornings
- Verified traveler (2/5): BEWARE ... this place is a dump !!! - This place is NASTY !!! The beds are not comfortable … very cheap mattresses. TV did not work properly … wires hanging out of the walls … and kept smelling urine … I'm assuming from the carpet. You have been warned !!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pretty close to a lot of things, the flea market, Harley Davidson dealership.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - couldn’t get my door key to work, went back to the office twice to have it “fixed”, couldn’t get it fixed on top of the terrible smell in the office,
- Verified traveler (4/5): NEVER AGAIN - Moldy shower. Hair all over towels.! Nasty pool. Hard bed. Spider webs in vorners by the ceiling. No smoke detector. Front desk team was completely rude and lazy. Asked for extra towels and was told no. Cops there repeatedly. Loud people outside your room at all hours. Tv was awful, wouldn't even stay on. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
- On_the_road (2/5): - There were two problems at the hotel: (i) it was extremely dirty-the bathroom in particular. (ii) The front desk went to bed at a certain point and when I went to check out at 6 am, there was no one available. Other guests simply left their room key on the counter when they departed, but there was no one there during morning check out time.
- Kkayshook (6/5): Okay for the money - Older motel but it has a super friendly staff. Not a super clean hotel but beds are real comfortable and they have ood water pressure in the shower. Nice pool. Good enough place if you need to get off road to rest for a while.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean, pleasant, adequate, enjoyed the pool.
No bells and whistles but economical and met my needs.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The place was dirty. Blankets stained. Holes in the bathroom walls. No bed, just a mattress on a metal frame. Very dissatisfied
Felt unsafe as people ‘hung out’ around the doors. Lock broke on door. Marijuana smell everywhere.
Never again.
Thanking God my husband carries .
- Tom (6/5): Visit Bowling Green - Good location, freindly staff, small room.Beds could be better, large updated TV.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The room was not very clean the door would not lock the chain did not lock deadbolt would not lock room was not clean
- Nancy (8/5): - The room was clean and we'll maintained. The only issue was they had no hair dryer in the room. Was a spur of the moment trip to visit my son and I did not pack a lot so an inroom hair dryer would have we been nice
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The bed was hard. No box spring. No coffee pot for coffee. There was no continental breakfast. Coffee was only available from 6 am to 10 am . On the review of this place there was supposed to be continental breakfast. I will not ever stay at another motel 6. It was horrible. Plus there were people at the pool cussing and being disrespectful.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The only thing I liked about the room was that it was in the back of the motel so it was not facing the street. The location was near a lot of different places; so that was very nice and convenient. There were a few bugs in the room that my husband and I had to kill. The towels were threadbare. The floor had not been swept. The bathmat for the shower was not washed or washed well; perhaps. Although cheap, it was still too expensive for how the place looked. And there was a drug deal going down the one day about 5 doors down from the room we were in.
- Annette (2/5): - The room was very small even for 2 double beds, there were cigarette butts on the floor behind the bed, the bathroom needs upating badly - new paint, light fixtures and shower. In fact, we wouldn't even take a shower because we would have felt dirtier after the shower!!! Plus, the clientele were not the most trustworthy- looking or sounding people!! AND no free breakfast, even though I seriously doubt we would have eaten it!!
- Kenton (6/5): - TV worked when it wanted, tub was missing a drain plug, and the AC was sooooo loud!
But, Motel 6...
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Only big issue is i had to check out at 430am to catch a flight, no one at thr desk, i rang the buzzer twice and waited but no one showed and i had to leave my key on the counter for just anyone to take.
- Frequentguest (8/5): - Certainly a good value. But the odor of curry mixed with cleaning products in the lobby is a bit much. Also, some of the rooms have lock issues, either the latch doesn't work, or the latch is the only thing that works and so the room won't lock behind you.
- Louis (2/5): Worst hotel in Bowling Green - I stayed at the Hotel 6 at Springfield And at Columbia these hotels were fine no frills but satisfactory. The one in Bowling Green i wouldn’t recommend to board my dogs in 1st the room had a foul odor 2d the bedding had holes in it 3D the bathroom sink was cracked 4th the toilet paper holder was broken this room 303 was the worst room I have ever been given it was so bad I drove across the street and registered into the Red Roof Inn at my own expense I cannot believe that any hotel chain would ever rent this room to anyone!!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - My first and last stay at a motel 6. Cheap stay, but you get what you pay for.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It's in a great location and within walking distance of restaurants and other shopping.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I have stayed here several times before and never had a problem but this time the housekeepers really dropped the ball on the cleanliness of the room. The floor was filthy--the toilet in the bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned and the bowl was scummy on the inside and the seat underneath was dirty. The sheets looked like they hadn't been changed and there was hair on the pillowcase. I went to the front desk and she was nice enough to give me some extra towels and Pine-Sol to clean the room but I couldn't do anything about the sheets and if I'm going to pay $65 (not cheap for Motel 6) for a room I expect it to be habitable and not to have to clean it myself before I spend the night.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I didnt see anything special about the property and the staff was rude and disrespectful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I asked for an extra pillow and they didn’t have any the first night. The next night I needed more towels and they didn’t have any to give me so nothing was available that I neede. Also I had to buy a tub stopper so my daughter could take a bath because there was not one in there. It was as ok really small and hard to move around.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It’s really nice and really the rooms are really comfortable.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Sheets could have been cleaner along with bathroom. They were both dingy in places. The bed was uncomfortable and hard. There was only two flat pillows and the only thing offered was bar soap. I remember motel six being a nicer place to stay. Slow WiFi. Next time I will spend a little more to ensure the bed is comfy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Worth the price, and very calm. And accessible to stores and restaurants
- Sevie (8/5): - The one thing that was great is that I actually went through those “cheaper” sites to get my hotel. They didn’t communicate with the hotel so the hotel had no idea I was coming. The lady at the front desk was helpful, kind, called Expedia to figure it out. They couldn’t find it although I had the email and didn’t want to talk to me about it so the hotel clerk gave me my room cheaper and and accommodated my room! It was awesome!
- 977samd (8/5): Pet Friendly Budget Motel 6 Bowling Green, KY - This Pet Friendly, Budget, Motel 6 is located at 3139 Scottsville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42101, 270-843-0140. The property was recently, it has an outside pool, vending and ice machines, and the front desk is staffed 24/7. We checked in, the attendant “Crystal” was welcoming, pleasant, efficient, had our reservation at hand, it took a couple of minutes to be on our way to our room. There is plenty of free parking, we were able to back up to our room to unload, and the parking lot lights gave us a sense of safety and security. The motel is conveniently located close to numerous restaurants, and gas stations. 😎
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great pet friendly motel, we stay here every time we visit bowling green
- William (8/5): motel six - uneventful, every thing you would expect from motel 6
this one has location tons of things to, plenty of restaurants and shopping. the room has no frills but they are clean and comfortable.
i would not hesitate to stay again
- William (10/5): i cant im working - it was good
- Christine (8/5): - Room was ok but had a smell of smoking room
- Bill (4/5): - Location and staff friendliness the only redeeming aspect of this motel. My door was unlocked and actually open before inserting the key, so I entered with a great deal of caution (not a way to start a stay!). The bed was hard, the floors were not swept well, and the bed and pillows were uncomfortable ( it took four pillows to get it right!).
- William (10/5): Great Food and music - it was restful fair and older but excellent people
the restaurant staple food that worked out fine
I like this property
- Kyle (6/5): - It's okay, very clean, and the employees were nice. The room is pretty low-rent, and so is the price.
- William (4/5): - I left a message hot hotel.com this morning. I was told my credit card declined. I told night clerk impossible a manager came out and cor some reason they had checked the room out before I got there. Too bad the manager wasnt there when the clerk tried to explain that my credit card was declined as i gave him a debit card to rebook my room. When the manager arrived he said he would leave a cash refund but in morning the night auditor told me the debit charge was credited. So two cards were charged and on my debit card I was shown a credit for 58 dollars and cha he while I paid 68 and change on the original credit card I gave when booking with hotels dot com.
I opted to stay this night and paid cash to avoid giving any cards. I am really upset with how my booking was handled. A testimony is that i stayed today for one more night that says the hotel itself is fine. But the way my financial concerns are all wrong. When I book a hotel I need confidence to give my numbers out. And i feel short changed in this area.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Crappy employees, not very friendly. Would not recommend
- danbS4019EJ (6/5): ! Low cost, affordable Motel 6 ;-)! - ! ground floor, corner room provided me great access to office, laundry and pool areas. Free coffee every morning. Staff was pleasant and helpful with directions. Location was accessible to all areas of Bowling Green, KY ;-)!
- Randy (10/5): Great time - Location Location Location. Rooms were clean and service was outstanding.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Hotel was in major need of a deep cleaning. Maintenance issues abound and overall cleanliness was a problem.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The staff was friendly and nice, but the rooms were sub par the rooms were small, the main door had no weather stripping on it so wind, noise, the prople staying next store smoked outside so it came right in room. The bathroom door frame was broke and the shower water pressure was horrable and the door didnt close all the way.
The tv would turn on but had no cable connection and the remote was messed up also. Plus the beds were noisy and jamed up against the side walls and ac/heater unit.
- william (4/5): MOTEL 6 - Bare minimum accommodations. The Queen bed wasn't a Queen. There was only one straight back chair. They did provide the requested extra pillows. There wasn't even a box of tissues. The bed was noisy and uncomfortable.
