Guest Reviews
- Amaka (6/5): - When I arrived they let me know my room was already occupied which was extremely inconvenient as I had booked a month prior.
This shows extremely poor management but other daily staff were nice and supportive. Please give them a call before showing up.
- Frantz (6/5): - Good stay in general
- Frank (8/5): - It was okay
- lisacorbin1 (8/5): Nice hotel stay in Nigeria. - So let me say that this was my first time in Africa, so I do understand that things are done differently than in the US.
When I arrived at the hotel, I found it to be very clean and the employees are welcoming and helpful. I filled out some information and my room was ready in less than 10 minutes.
Walking into the room, it was very cold. I loved this. I am from Texas and a/c is important. There was a nice sitting room with a comfy-looking couch. Sitting on the couch, however, it was like sitting on a park bench with fabric on it. But my husband told me that couches are made that way in their country, so I accepted it. The bed was big and comfortable to me. We had a jacuzzi tub and I had an issue with that. I am 5ft 3in with short legs and I had to step up into the tub by holding on to the door. And when getting out, I was always afraid I would slip when getting out. My husband always helped me get into and out of it. If I choose to stay again, I would go for a normal bathtub. We never used the jacuzzi. Most of the time, the water was hot. Sometimes, the water was just barely warm. The first few days, the water was very slow to drain, but the cleaning guy came and did something and the water drained faster after that.
Back to the a/c, there was a unit in the sitting room and another in the bedroom. We found that if we turned one of the units off, the whole room would still be cold. It works very well. There were only 3 working tv channels … 24hour music videos, news, and sports. Sometimes we’d see big brother, but I brought my own entertainment. The WiFi was ok. My husband brought his own WiFi.
The hotel food was ok. My reservation gave me 1 free breakfast and I let my husband eat it. He seemed to enjoy it. Now I knew that Nigerians loved spicy food, but almost everything is spicy. I wasn’t prepared. The hotel has a menu that you can access by scanning the code on your phone. The pictures of the food on the menu is not the same food you will receive. We ordered the ribs and fries. The picture shows a slab of bbq ribs, but what we received was 2 big ribs, mostly fat, and some veggies and fries. I tried to order some fish sticks but they didn’t have any, so I asked for chicken nuggets. They brought me some chicken covered with spicy sauce all over it (maybe they didn’t understand me when I said chicken nuggets). I couldn’t eat it and my husband ended up taking it to go. Unfortunately, I have stomach issues and can’t handle spicy foods. I did have pizza and some KFC, so I was good. I did order the actual chicken nuggets from the hotel menu and they brought me 2 huge fried chicken patties with fries. This was actually good to me. Not spicy at all. I ate one of them and went back a few hours later and there were gnats all over it even though it was covered. So I threw it out. I ended up ordering this again on my last day there, but my stomach was nervous because of my upcoming flight, so my husband ended up eating them.
The pool area was very nice. We didn’t swim, but just sat outside and enjoyed the light breeze.
There was a small fridge that kept our things cold. The room also had a water kettle. It already had water in it. Luckily, I always travel with some cleaning supplies, so we scrubbed it out and used it to make noodles and coffee. The water gets very hot. There was only a remote control for the living room tv but not the bedroom tv. Same with the a/c… only a remote for the bedroom but not the living room. We just flipped a switch to turn off the living room a/c.
During power outages, the generators kicked on quickly, so that was good.
Some things I didn’t really like was that when trying to book this hotel, I had to use Expedia. I’ve never used them before, and I was nervous that something would go wrong because I was not booking directly with the hotel, but everything worked out fine. Also, I took a few credit cards for emergencies or shopping, but when trying to use my card at the hotel, my payment wouldn’t go through because it was not a Nigerian bank card. I was so happy that my husband was there, because I do like to travel solo sometimes and I would have been lost without having a local bank card. It is definitely a learning experience for when I travel back to Africa in the future. Also, there were a few critters. My husband did kill 3 roaches and we had gnats during the last few days there. I live in an apartment complex, so I’m not afraid of roaches. But that’s just an fyi.
With everything I have reviewed, this is not a bad hotel. I enjoyed my 10 days in Nigeria and I would choose this place again. The hotel price was not bad at all and everyone was nice.
- Victoria (8/5): - We paid for a suite but we’re given a superior room instead. The hotel insisted that the price that we paid wouldn’t make up for what they charge for a suite. From a customer service standpoint this was poor. I don’t even think the staff took into consideration that at the time of me booking the room, the exchange rate would have been significantly different from when I had checked in. I’m sure the hotel provides Expedia with their prices and if there was any issue with this, the hotel should have taken it up with Expedia. Expedia tried to contact the hotel but they weren’t successful, leaving us with no choice but to manage what we were given. The staff didn’t seem to care about this.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Morning Side Suites Experience - On the first of my three night stay, I was put in a dirty room with dysfunctional amenities. The room for had no key card so the door can only be opened by the hotel staff. The AC has no controls and was dripping water on the table, the bathroom was unkept and the hot water never worked. I was moved to a supposedly better room the next couple of days but the AC still had no controls and the hotel staff never followed up on my complaint until I checked out 2 days later. The hotel complimentary breakfast options was also never available.
- Obinna (4/5): - Very slow WiFi. Sad gym. Inefficient AC. Very friendly staff
- Darylle (6/5): - Bathroom had mold in it toilet constantly run all day all night. Fridge didn’t work properly.
- Suz (4/5): - Generally most of the staff are miserable. The place is not managed well. Fixtures and fittings are dated and unsafe. Cracked light switches, a window that had a sign saying not to open, a shower door that just fell off, (no-one came to fix it)a hydro bath and shower....none of which worked, never leaving 2 towels, despite knowing there was 2 of us in there, staff who come into your room and steal from you , food that takes over an hour to come out, only to be something completely different to what you ordered, door that doesnt lock, people smoking skunk so it stinks out the whole hotel, constant loud nightclub level music around the pool even if you are the only one there. It drives people away. Intimidating groups of men who bring their own music to play loud, again driving all the other customers away. A manager. Who does nothing to stop people from smoking skunk on the property. Or from intimidating other customers. When the food was done right, it was good and the pool was nice when not having your ear drums blasted or driven away by skunk- smoking. Customers. It seems that if you want something done they dont respond to asking nicely.. the admin system suxks too. We paid up 3 days before so we could leave at 4.30am but because a food bill was put in afterwards, from before we paid it, we had to debate where this came from, making us 30 minutes late. Without the pool it would be 1 star
- Rickisha Vennette (8/5): - My stay was ok could've been better
- Levell (8/5): - Staff and service was great, was a little loud in the mornings and water in shower sometimes ran out.
- IBEAWUCHI (6/5): - Staff are excellent. Bathrooms could be cleaner - walls around tub need a good scrub, possibly with bleach, and all sealants need replacing. Rooms not well-insulated, so chatter, footsteps and loud music will keep you company until you get used to them, and you will. Curtains in some rooms do not open and windows have no decent views. All this being said, i still enjoyed my stay, a nod to the friendliness and hospitality of the staff. They also have a good chef!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant hotel - Great clean and comfortable hotel. While advertised as "free breakfast for two," upon check-in was informed that it did not apply to my booking. This should be made clear. Other than that, it is a pleasant hotel with nice amenities.
- Denise (4/5): - I am disappointed at the way the manager handles complaints. There had been several issues and for them it was informational for me it was painful and costly. Disappointing.
- Christopher (10/5): Excellent service! - This was a good experience staying in Morning Side Suite. All the staffs were helpful and friendly. They let us made ourselves at home. We had good conversations with them and gave us recommendation. Will definitely go to Morning Side Suite again!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good Customer service and clean environment
- omamuzoe (8/5): Good Service - I stayed here as a last resort as the hotel I was stay was fully booked. The service was professional. Neat rooms and the staff were polite. Onome and the others made my two day stay comfortable.
The food was tasty. However their complimentary breakfast was non existent. They need to work on it. To call the spread they had as spartan would not be an understatement. It was that insignificant!
I stayed in the suite and the bathroom was top notch. One of the best I have used.It had a steam bath. I will give them an A+ for the bathroom.
Will be returning
- nvenitius (10/5): Mr - Morning Side Suites is a standard hotel situated at 11B Taslim Elias Close Off Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos. Morning Side Suites is a five minutes’ drive to Silverbird Galleria and Bar Beach.

Laundry/dry-cleaning service is offered at an extra cost. Car hire can be made available on request. Ample parking space and security is guaranteed.
- 523Sadcustomer523 (8/5): Surprised! - I have always thought hotels don't make great food in Nigeria, generally. This hotel was an exception. Their jollof rice was good. Very decent rooms although the amenities should be upgraded..courteous employees as well. In a serene area.
- ajibadeo2019 (8/5): Friendly and smiling staff who are willing and ever ready to help - My daughters love Morning Side Suites, especially the swimming pool with a ready instructor to help.
The environment is clean.
The ACs are all working.
TVs are showing multiple channels.
Lighting is good and almost everywhere remain well illuminated. And above all the lift works all day
- graemes693 (2/5): A sad return trip - It pains to write this review as I praised the hotel previously. I have been to this hotel 3 times now and since my first trip the hotel has started going down.
In my latest visit there was a massive hole in the roof, scaffolding was erected in front of my room to the point I actually had to climb through it to get to my room. The hotel did not acknowledge this fault either. My roof had a massive leak in it and water poured out the roof and flooded my bathroom, the hot water ran out two mins into a shower preventing me from bathing before a meeting. The hotel could not furnish me with a new room either as they were fully booked. Their solution provided to my shower woes was a room with a hole in the bath and a working sink.
The final nail in the coffin was when my team ordered 4 different meals to which the response was they had none of the food items we requested. Someone in my team ordered a plate of chips and they had no chips.
The saving grace at the moment for this hotel is the staff whom are incredibly helpful and friendly.
I post this review in the hopes that this hotel uses this criticism constructively to fix their problems.
- ChefSnail (8/5): 3 nights stay for a business trip - Small hotel that is well maintained, good food at the the restaurant and a nice pool area to chill out in the evening. What makes a difference are the very personal staff at the reception, restaurant, housekeeping who made my short stay very enjoyable.
- hammiselara (10/5): Great service - Excellent service, room arw neat, and staff are well mannered. Stayed here for a few weeks when i was in nigeria. Strongly recommemd for business or family.its also close to the cinima for movie lovees
- JohanL2836 (8/5): Very comfortable stay and friendly staff - This was my first trip to Nigeria, I have been warned about some of the accommodation options in Lagos which are less than ideal. This hotel was a pleasant surprise though. The food was good, we slept well, the rooms are clean and serviced daily. There is even a pool if you want to cool down! It is also fairly close to the business district, with uber rides available fairly close by. I can highly recommend this hotel for anyone on a business trip.
- graemes693 (8/5): Refreshing change to what I am used to - This is my second trip to Nigeria, my first trip was at the Best Western Hotel, it was not a pleasurable experience at all so my return trip was not filled with much hope. I was incredibly surprised staying at the Morning Side Suites, the rooms were clean, food was good and service was excellent. This definitely sets my mind at ease when I return here for business. Will most certainly be staying here again.
- lambertj2018 (8/5): Your Buffet was lovely. - The amenities in the hotel is very OK, and the room services too. I wish to still do a further exploration as my stay was just a very short one. Kindly forward a price list of your product and Services. Thank you
- simeont89 (10/5): Suprisingly refreshing and good value for money - Right from the reception, the ambiance is relaxed and welcoming. The staff are friendly and very attentive to your needs. The hotel is new, clean and homely. Above all, it is great value for money.
I truly enjoyed staying at the Morning Side suites and will go back at the earliest opportunity.
- chandr_b2017 (8/5): Very Friendly and Helpful Staff - I stayed at Morning Side Suites while on business in Lagos. It is situated very close to the Grand Federal Hotel and other prominent points on Victoria Island.
The staff are very friendly, and always more than willing to help out with what is necessary. The rooms are clean and neat and the swimming pool area is lovely and has sun loungers. As the hotel was mostly fully booked by our company, they let us play our own music over their speakers which made for a lot of fun while we were off.
There is also a gym, that has the bare minimum. Enough to keep you going if you are in Lagos for work.
The kitchen is open 24 hours which is great if you are coming in on a late flight. Expect a lot of Nigerian cuisine on the menu.
The staff really deserve a lot of praise at this hotel.
- ayodelefm (8/5): Lovely - You need a good place to stay without breaking the bank, this is your best bet. The rooms are lovely, space is well managed. Live flowers, yeah fruits were placed in my room on The house. The complimentary breakfast could be better arranged though. But it was a great experience.
- CitySampler (8/5): Positive Experience - My husband and I hosted family to a birthday lunch over the Independence Day weekend. We also took advantage of the long weekend and took a suite at the hotel for a night. We had a very good experience all round. The food and beverage contact, Ernest, was very pleasant and professional in all the arrangements for the private buffet lunch, and Samson and the front office team were similarly helpful and friendly with the suite booking. The food was excellent, and the waiters were very attentive. Our group really enjoyed the ambience, including the lovely pool area.
The suite was roomy and on the whole very clean, although the wallpaper was tired and could do with a refresh. There was a wide selection of amenities, free water and tea/coffee making facilities. My main complaint is the height of the bath. Getting in and out of the tub is a tricky business; you need to be careful not to lose your footing. Also the shower hook had broken, which was inconvenient as there was nowhere to hang the hand held shower in the bathtub. These little details unfortunately are all too commonly overlooked in Nigerian hotels.
That notwithstanding, our experience at Morningside Suites was very pleasant and we would happily recommend it for a leisure or business stay. Thanks to all for helping make my birthday celebration a lovely one.
- ToluwaniDaramola (10/5): Had My Honeymoon Here - This Hotel was picked out by my wife, I have to say it was a great choice, it was central to the movies, beaches and some great restaurants around Victoria Island Lagos.
They even offered Us Continental Breakfast for the both of Us and gave Us a wedding gift when we were about to check out.
The ambiance and customer service was top notch.
The facilities were in great condition especially the Jacuzzi, this is an hotel I would definitely want to visit with my wife next time I travel to Nigeria,
A World Class Hotel for a great price.
- Oluseyi (8/5): Quite Good - Quite good but customer services needs improvement
- Oluseyi (8/5): Good - It would appear that they have issues with their Expedia accounts which needs sorting out.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Note : they charge 6% to use your credit card!!!! - Nice hotel, slow Resturant service but good food. Breakfast selection sad.
- 696kennetha (10/5): Terrific ambience - Your love for this hotel starts from the moment you step through the well cleaned glass doors.
The light effect if coming in the evening is amazing. Tall flowers lines up the walk way. The bar immediately on the left beckons on you with the beautifully arranged chairs.
I have met different receptionist and found them warm and nice. The reception table itself is a beauty.
- 283jeanined (10/5): Absolutely lovely! - Morning Side Suites is truly a lovely boutique hotel. Fantastic customer service, beautiful lobby with a bar and restaurant, nice pool, good rooms, and great location! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We felt right at home and pampered by the staff. They even helped us to print and make copies of a few documents that we needed for an appointment, and they had the added touch of a nice, cold glass of orange juice on arrival. We will definitely be staying here again when we're back in Lagos!
- 934princee (10/5): WELL DESERVED STAY - The facilities are still good and well maintained. The staff are well spoken and very friendly. The serenity and ambience is worth the commitments; that is to say there was value for money. I could be there over and over again.
- timmosuzuki (10/5): Great staff made me feel right at home - I felt a little tug on my heartstrings on leaving the hotel, as the staff actually made myself and my colleagues feel incredibly welcome. The room was a good size and quiet, bed comfortable, aircon worked. I noted there was a power adapters in the room which was a nice touch. Mt room was actually big enough for three of us to work in for a couple of hours.
We had to work at the hotel on a Sunday and the chef made a buffet lunch. This was the same sort of things as in other buffets in Lagos - but nicely presented. As with the other restaurant that I visited in Lagos though, a-la-carte orders take longer than I would expect to get to the table. This is more an observation, than a complaint, and the chef was a great guy who made my special request of Akara for breakfast one day - and they were delicious.
- couple (8/5): Nice cozy hotel - We arrived to check in after booking with Expedia and getting a confirmation to be told that our reservation could not be found and then we were told they couldn't find it because of the rate we were given. We then had to wait for the supervisor who continued to argue that he rejected the reservation with Expedia even though we got nothing but our confirmation. The Supervisor was very rude and unprofessional he then threw up his hands and told his staff to check us in. This was the worst way to be checked ever. He never apologized or even make any service recovery. Once we checked in the experience got better and we enjoyed our stay. This male supervisor must be reprimanded for representing this hotel in such an unprofessional way. Having guest argue about a booking already paid for.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very good hotel! Will stay again - Great environment near silverbird mall, fanataatic polite staff and food was very good. Very nice place to stay. Coming from London and USA.
- ronke (10/5): Great. - My fiance and I checked in for a one night stay at the hotel. From start to finish, I was impressed by the excellent customer service and attention to detail. The room was impeccably clean.Let me tell you. Having been to two other so called nice hotels on this same trip. I must say I enjoyed my stay. My only complaint is that the wifi is pretty much non existent.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good location - Good location and reasonably priced
