Guest Reviews
- Bernard (8/5): -
- Trinquart (7/5): Confortable, belle vue. - La vue, la chambre Le restaurant est à éviter.
Service très très long.
Burger immangeable à cause d'une sauce au poivre immonde !
Beignets de crevettes sans goût (congelées)
- Michaela (8/5): -
- Graeme (9/5): - Views from the room Nothing
- James (8/5): Would recommend, good value - Parking good, restaurant excellent. Rooms quiet and comfortable. All a bit dated
- Julie (7/5): Comfortable stay - Lovely location. Bedroom and bathroom looked recently updated. Staff were all lovely. Good value for money food with plentiful portions. Very clean. I thought from the pictures that hotel was going to be a bit posher than it was but it was fine.
It’s an old property so stairs are precarious and wouldn’t recommend to anyone with mobility issues.
I hadn’t realised I was only going to get a continental breakfast. Breakfast was fine though.
- Gillian (8/5): -
- Helen (10/5): Enjoyable stay and good base to expore Oban. - Lovely views, comfortable room, dog friendly and friendly staff. Nothing
- Jonathan (10/5): - Location is incredible with a view of the bay in dinning areas and our room. Close to the coastal path as well. Friendly service as well.
- Ashok (9/5): -
- Karin (9/5): Mooi hotel met een gemoedelijke sfeer op een mooie lokatie. - Hele mooie en ruime kamer, met heerlijke bedden. Locatie ook zeer mooi! Ontbijtzaal met uitzicht op de rivier. X
- christelle (10/5): - Tout Rien
- Sheila (9/5): Overnight stay - met all our needs. - Close to ferry terminal Easy to find
Friendly welcoming staff very comfortable
Our ferry from Tiree was delayed and a member of staff contacted us by phone re our dinner reservation which was helpful
Staff in restaurant both for dinner and breakfast were lovely Nothing
- Ruth (8/5): - Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Premises were very clean throughout. Good sized room. Tea and coffee in room. Good views over the loch. Shower was very small.
Breakfast ingredients were basic quality
- Alan (9/5): Very comfortable for an overnight stop before travelling to the Isle of Mull. - We were given a room with a panoramic view of the sea. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was continental but if requested you could have a different type. Staff friendly and helpful. nothing
- Catriona (8/5): - The staff. The view. Disappointed that no cooked breakfast available. Booking.com stated breakfast included. O ly continental breakfast.
- BOCQUET (9/5): -
- Craig (4/5): It was ok, nice and clean and friendly staff but could do with some renovations and modernising and definitely need to d - Lovely location and the staff that we met were friendly and helpful. Rooms were basic but spotlessly clean. Over priced for what you get. The breakfast was awful, it was only a “continental” breakfast but the choice was dire. A couple of cereals, some bread, a few bits of ham and a couple of youghurts & a sad bunch of grapes.
We couldn’t quite figure out why the tables are set with knives and forks when there was nothing to use them for 🤔
- Nikki (8/5): Enjoyable stay. Great food and great staff with a comfy room - Great staff, great food and great location as an alternative to staying in Oban. Lovely views from the restaurant Would have preferred more choice at breakfast but that’s just a personal choice.
- Michael (3/5): Disappointing - Staff were friendly Tired and overpriced for what it was.
- Craig (8/5): - Great location and lovely building The breakfast was limited with no hot options or salad
- Steve F (6/5): -
- Drew (9/5): - Hotel was really nice , excellent staff , quiet location, hotel not far from amenities. Shower cubicle and having to climb stairs as my wife has difficulty climbing them and getting into shower cubicle , down stairs rooms would be an advantage to some people with disabilities.
- Miluse (5/5): Do not book if you want decent breakfast. - Evening meal in bar was excellent, friendly staff and great service… Mould all over shower corner, bathroom in need of deep clean.
Breakfast was a joke.
Serving tea/coffee, fruit juice, some toasts and cereal should not be advertised as breakfast. Not all of us eat sweet cereal crap for breakfast.
- Krzysztof (7/5): Was ok - Beautiful location, breakfast ok TV was not working, one of bedside lights not working
- Jérôme (9/5): Hôtel typique, loin des chaînes d’hôtels mais très convivial - Très agréable . Super resto
- williamson (8/5): - When we arrived Evie greeted us and couldn't have been nicer!! She is an asset to any hospitality establishment.
Our food was freshly cooked and very good 👍
Also Fraser the waiter who served up our meal was excellent!
The continental breakfast was very good aswell, plenty of variety 👌 Nothing to report!!.
- Christopher (9/5): -
- Fiona McArthur (10/5): Brilliant hotel - Gorgeous hotel, great location, food was amazing and great value for money, staff excellent. N/a

- Stephen (10/5): We came to Scotland on a touring holiday staying in 14 different hotels over 14 nights. This was by - A beautiful room, hotel and location with a well cooked breakfast. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anybody staying in the area. Skin on chips !
- Gordon (10/5): Nice hotel and friendly staff, we would stay again with a car. - We received an upgraded room with balcony overlooking the river at no additional cost, and the view was outstanding. The room and ensuite bathroom were fine. We ate dinner there, it was superb. Breakfast was continental with plenty of choices (warm food was available at extra cost). Staff was friendly and accommodating. Location for us was good as we had a rental car, but since it is 5.5 miles north of Oban across the river, those without a car would encounter difficulties getting around.
- Sarah (10/5): Perfect little stop for a Scotland adventure - Last minute booking and was made to feel very welcome and they welcomed the dogs too, giving them a bowl of water and blanket in our rooms.
Staff were friendly and the place was cute.
Nice cocktails and a yummy breakfast Can’t fault anything
- Julian (10/5): Brilliant & saved details for my next trip - Very good
- ARCHIE (6/5): Handy bed for the night near Oban - Lovely view of the Connell bridge. Nice touch hof dog bowl and blanket. Room and bed fine...it was only a bed for the night after late ferry arrival.
Breakfast continental only...don't know if always the case of just that day but disappointing. Breakfast. Only continental...poor show. Maybe in the smallprint i didnt read

- Andrew (8/5): -
- Derek (8/5): -
- Ken (8/5): -
- Stewart (9/5): Nice place to stay, good staff, good location - Staff attentive and professional, room was clean Place was a bit tired externally- severe lack of lights in the car park
- Andy (8/5): Recommended - good meal and pleasant staff - Friendly staff, nice view - evening meal was very good.
- Anne (10/5): Charmante auberge - L’accueil Manque un peu de chauffage pour les frileux dans la salle du petit déjeuner.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Good - The rooms were clean and warm with comfortable beds. The restaurant food was excellent. We were given a free continental breakfast which was all we wanted. It was a little further out from Oban than we had anticipated but drivable.
- Tim (9/5): Cosy welcoming hotel with good restaurant and bar. - Very cosy warm room with everything you need. Bathroom was a decent size and clean.Restaurant and bar looked great and excellent menu. Friendly staff. Good value. Floorboards a little creaky and sound carried between rooms but not too bad. Breakfast was nothing special but pastries were fresh.
- Lesley (8/5): -
- Julie (9/5): Twixmas break - Staff were very friendly and helpful, phoned us enroute to hotel to let us know issues with availability re dinner menu. Room was very clean and comfortable, great pillows and shower. Location absolutely beautiful. Nothing - all good
- Billy (10/5): - Lovely room overlooking the falls of Lora with nice welcome from Lauren We had nice meal in restaurant in front of open fire . Also dog friendly as well which was bonus Nothing negative at all great place to stay
- Pamela (9/5): - The room had a lovely view , it was very clean and the evening meal was lovely. The staff are very welcoming.
- etkwebster (7/5): - Very clean room with fresh decor and nice clean bathroom, room was cleaned and beds made up on 2nd day of our 2 day stay, food at the hotel in the evenings was excellent and the staff were brilliant, welcoming, open and friendly, the location is good being right next to Loch Etive. Personally the bed wasn't supportive enough for me so I ended up with a sore back and the breakfast was quite a poor contonental with only instant oats,a few cereal choices, some fruit and a poor selection of meat and cheese and toast.
- Douglas (9/5): - All very nice
Staff were friendly and it's good value Nothing it was all good
- Heng Wan (9/5): - A quite place to relax n mediate. Good facilities. Nice restaurant breakfast ambient. Nil
- Thomas (9/5): -
- PETER (9/5): -
- James (9/5): Very enjoyable visit - Room warm and comfortable.
Staff very friendly
- Marc (10/5): - A very warm welcome on arrival. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Excellent food. Continental breakfast was very good with the waitress being very helpful also.Room 1 with the balcony is a must. Thank you to Lauren and her amazing team. Highly recommend. 🙂🏴
- John (10/5): -
- Fátima (7/5): -
- François (8/5): OK - très bon emplacement, hotel très agréable chambre petite, salle de bain idem.
- Laura (10/5): - Perfect location, beautiful rooms and restaurant bar and breakfast room. Staff really friendly and helpful. Great price. Stayed overall 3 nights on two separate occasions. Would definitely stay there again. N/A
- Véronique (9/5): -
- Robin (10/5): Great location and top class service and amenities. Would definitely visit again. - The area is fairly quiet in the winter and the weather wasn't wonderful, so the amenities provided at the hotel were much appreciated. I ate in the restaurant both nights of my stay and the food choice and quality were excellent. There is also a bar on site which I visited on one night - good beer! Breakfast was great and my room was extremely comfortable. There was nothing I could have improved about the hotel, I really enjoyed my stay.
- Laura (10/5): - Fabulous location, lovely hotel, amazing staff, very friendly and helpful N/A
- Vicky (8/5): Lovely lochnell - Lovely setting. Dog friendly. Car park was rather dark at night, bar closed really early.
- Maria-Jesus (9/5): - The hotel was fantastic. The staff were incredibly friendly, especially the lovely, smiling girl who welcomed us so warmly. 😊😀 The views were absolutely beautiful, overlooking the stunning beach of Oban. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable — a perfect place to relax. The breakfast was a little limited. The second morning we went, there were no croissants available and they were not replenished.
- Rich (7/5): -
- DAVID (9/5): Good overnight stop - Good breakfast and good parking
- Kari (8/5): Good place to stay. We went back there a second time. - Comfortable room, nice view, very pleasant staff. Good evening meal. It was fun watching the robotic lawnmower whilst eating breakfast. :) Very minor problems such as the kettle not working. Breakfast was OK but not exceptional.
- Simon (8/5): A very good small hotel, pub and restaurant. - Nice bar with an open fire serving good pub grub and good beer. The room had a view over the Falls of Lora and was very well presented. A substantial continental breakfast provided a good end to the visit.
- Eldrid (8/5): - The staff and location Shower water pressure
- Silvia (10/5): - Muy bonita las vistas desde el hotel. Todo muy limpio.
- Eoghan (8/5): -
- Mathew (10/5): Very nice - What a lovely little hotel lovely staff so friendly and helpful room was lovely and so clean bed was so comfortable food was really great will be back again no problem I can't think of anything
- john (7/5): - Nice views and good location Common areas a bit tired and breakfast wasnt great, it was generally ok and the room was nice
- Alan (6/5): Lovely hotel, great location! But! 'Minute' shower, luke warm trickle! Rubbish breakfast! - Excellent location, lovely building with a wonderful view, and friendly staff.
Great room, with balcony. The room was fine, though a bit small!
The bathroom was 'OK', but the shower was so ridiculously small that it was impossible to do anything other than stand! The shower unit was the lowest kilowatage possible, so the water pressure was abysmal and luke warm!
Why do hotels go for the smallest, cheapest shower cubicles and units?
The breakfast was disappointing to say the least. It was only 'continental', though I don't recall being made aware of that! Not much choice and the staff member was 'not the best' by any means. 'They' were cold and robotic, and to be honest not best dressed. Somewhat 'gothic' with a black 'beany' hat!
All other staff were excellent!
Evening meal was 'passable ', just!
- Kirsten (10/5): - The staff were excellent, really friendly and helpful. It was great value for money. The location is great and the food was delicious 😋 There wasn't anything.
- Robert (8/5): -
- Kath (9/5): -
- Kath (10/5): - Location, room with roof balcony has a fab view. Very clean and staff were excellent.
- Lisa (8/5): Lovely views - Lovely views from back of hotel. Staff helpful . Some areas needed abit of attention, shower very small
- michael (4/5): Below average - I was confronted about none payment even though the money was paid in advance and I had shown him proof on a email , not very welcoming staff.
- George H (8/5): enjoyable - Nice relaxed atmosphere, friendly to dogs nice staff. nothing to report.
- Gordon (7/5): Great one night stay with good hosts - It’s was right on the Loch with great views. The pub had a good atmosphere The room was small by comparison.
- Isaac (8/5): -
- James (10/5): - I use 4 basic criteria for travel lodging reviews: clean, quiet, safe and how well the experience met expectations. I do my homework in advance so I know what to expect and to make sure that I’m fair to the host.
Lochnell Arms Hotel was great on all counts. The check-in staff (Ben) was friendly & helpful, the room was spacious, quiet, the bed was comfortable and the continental breakfast was more than sufficient to get a good start to the day. Overall a very pleasant experience. Nothing, although the coffee could have been stronger.
- Ayla (10/5): - We were kindly upgraded which was very much appreciated after camping in the Highlands! The room was beautifully decorated, warm, comfortable, and everything was very clean. Breakfast was very tasty and great value for money. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and the views of the ocean are an added bonus.
- Graham Smith (9/5): Wonderful - Friendly staff, beautiful location, very clean, food superb Not ideal for people with difficulties negotiating stairs, probably my fault for not asking
- Marie (10/5): Was a great relaxing break away staff went above and beyond for myself with having allergy - It’s was welcoming clean a great location Nothing
- Nicola (7/5): - Food good. Contanental breakfast? Would like full Scottish breakfast. No cooked breakfast
- Vivienne (9/5): Alright - Great location, staff where friendly and welcoming, booked a double room with a view ,room was clean with great view ,continental breakfast was ok ,not wide selection though Only one chair in the room ,so partner had to sit on the bed couldn't enjoy the view ,arrived in the car park bit bewildered how to enter as there's 2 entry doors not clearly signed where reception was ,we went down to restaurant ,partner ordered fish an chips ,plenty on the plate but not worth the price ,I ordered the classic burger which was in my view not worth nearly £15 ,burger was alright ,never tasted any cheese ,the colslaw was like a dessert spoonful ,French fries came in a bucket ,which there was plenty and 3 onion rings again nothing that warranted the cost
- Paul (8/5): - Very friendly staff and the food was lovely Nothing
- Marianne (7/5): -
- Kenneth (6/5): Cheap and cheerful - you get what you pay for. Sort out breakfast! - Room was clean, reasonably comfortable and functional. Staf were thoughtful enough to call me while I was travelling to remind me the dining room closed at 2030 and if I was arriving later there would be no food available but should get something on the way. Barman showed me round and was generally pleasant and helpful. Its a budget hotel so expectations were not massively high. I didnt eat so cannot comment on dining. Breakfast (described on Booking.com as 'fabulous breakfast' was a pretty miserable selection of continental stuff and cereal - no cooked options at all. Somewhat misleading on the booking site I would suggest.
- Jean (8/5): Relaxed and friendly… - Welcoming and helpful staff. Newly decorated spacious bedroom and en-suite. Nice relaxing spaces in lounge, bar and dining areas. Good views. Restaurant food delicious. We stay in the area regularly and would go back. The bed was a double and seemed quite aged. I believe the place is being upgraded by new owners so hopefully this is something that’s on the list to be improved for future. We would prefer a cooked breakfast for the price we paid. The continental had good variety.
- Dietmar (9/5): - Sehr schönes Hotel mit sehr freundlichem Personal.
- gordon (9/5): Very enjoyable would stay again. - Hotel was very dog friendly. The staff could not be faulted, friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived.Perfect continental breakfast. Only small fault shower cubicle could be bigger.
- David (7/5): - Setting and view The stairs
- Iona (8/5): Two chairs would be nice in a twin room -
