Guest Reviews
- Amy-Jo (6/5): Great location but needs cleaning and repairs - Location downtown valpo was perfect so I’d looking for great location I would give it a 5. The place needs some cleaning since blinds were dusty and vents also dusty. Ceiling above the bed needs repair since looks like water leak and can see the drywall seams which is not pleasant to look at when laying down. But love the vintage style and location so has great potential to be a 4 or even 5 if fixed repairs and did deep cleaning.
- Brian (8/5): No WiFi and special check in required - Nice room. The bar that rents out the rooms is only open 5 days a week and 3 other days is only open for 4 hours a days (it was closed on our check-in day and we had to make special arrangements to check in).
Seems problematic at best for check in. Also advertised free WiFi which is inaccurate. There is no WiFi available in the rooms and the only common area is a bar that is mostly closed. When I asked for a WiFi code they refused to supply one as they stated it wouldn’t work.
So if you don’t mind no WiFi and need to make special arrangements to check-in, it was a pretty nice room.
- Mark (10/5): Quaint quiet stay - We love this little gem. Close enough to home but far enough for a getaway.
- Adam (10/5): - Very nice fun couples getaway spot in downtown.
- Jeff (10/5): - Very clean
- Tyler (10/5): - Very nice
- Michael (6/5): Good area! - Location was great! Plenty of good restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance. The staff was kind and courteous.
There were some issues with the maintainence of the room - trim that was peeling, shower door handle was hanging halfway off and the drawers and cabinets were in poor condition. The shower also felt pretty slippery to stand on and while I did not fall, I could see how someone might.
- Kimberly (8/5): - Was a great location
- Charlene (4/5): Family visit to Valpo - This 2nd floor apartment was charming, but needs a few simple upgrades to make it bearable. A mattress pad would help the hard king bed tremendously. A box of tissues would have been nice. Maybe a small electric hot water pot for tea would do. Noone supplied us with the wifi password. We stayed 3 nights during which the restaurant below was closed. We would most likely pick an available modern hotel next time.
- Cari (8/5): Meh room but great location - They say this room sleeps 4 but the small pull out couch is extremely uncomfortable. The shower has no water pressure at all.
- LAURIE (10/5): - Super cute place!! Only complaint is the mattresses on the bed and sofa bed aren’t the most comfortable , but loved the place overall! Will definitely book here again if we go to another concert.
- Frank (10/5): - Great accommodations steps from great restaurants and shops. Comfortable bed - slept well.
- Fred (10/5): - easy access
- Theresa (10/5): - A great room with a great location! Staff was very friendly!
- Donna (10/5): - We loved everything!
The double room suite oozed retro-charm
The two cleaning guys were great
Steve the bartender is a hoot
The food is fabulous—especially the desserts
- Andrew (10/5): - The staff at the check in were very helpful and friendly. The only 2 issues were the rock hard bed, and no tv service. The bed was acceptable, but quite uncomfortable. The tv had only 1 channel when we were actually able to even get it working. By the time we wanted to watch tv, the bar and restaurant were closed, so no staff were available. It’s a beautiful place, just needs a bit more attention in some areas.
- Scott (8/5): - Very nice unit to stay overnight. Worked for my needs. Only complaint if I were to have one is couldn’t turn down air enough to get cold overnight. Otherwise it was good! But that is subjective to different people
- Tom (10/5): 2nd story miracle. - Easy to find. Really enjoyed the restaurant and friendliness of the staff. The room was quiet despite being right next to busy highway/street. Will be back.
- Theresa (6/5): - I wanted to stay there because I was having dinner with friends that night at the Tavern downstairs. The suites are very old, and that was what I wanted to experience. The bathroom was clean, and the bed had clean sheets on it. The Keurig didn't work, and the TV would not change channels. I don't live in Northwest Indiana anymore, so when I go back, I like to watch Chicago TV stations while there. Those two malfunctions ruined my morning.
- Donald (10/5): - Property is located across from Valparaiso Central Park, and many walk-able dining locations.
- Tamara (8/5): - Quaint, cozy, and clean.
- Steven (10/5): - Newly renovated - but the host decorated with antique (1920's) furniture. Very pleasant. The rooms are located over a tavern, that served wonderful food.
- Evan (10/5): - Place was awesome! Stay here every time I’m in town.
- John (8/5): - Great location which makes it attractive for a short visit. Downtown has limited parking but manageable. Room was clean and quiet after closing time which was nice. Likely to return. Thanks
- Kurt (10/5): - This is truly an inn. There is a restaurant and bar downstairs, which closes at 10:30, so there is no noise problem. The bartender checked me in and showed me the room. The room was three, a huge, brick and wood living room with couch, overstuffed chairs, inn table and television and a view of the town square park, a separate bedroom, a separate big bathroom, with a big, walk in shower.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely spot but the air conditioning couldn’t keep up. It was in the mid 80s in my room and didn’t cool down until early morning. Also, there is no mini fridge or microwave available, nor an ironing board and iron. I travel for business and find these things important.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very unique & cozy room. Dining downstairs was also excellent!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Located directly in the immediate downtown area. Dining, entertainment, and shopping within a short walk.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location and very comfortable
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The suite was decorated very nicely. Wasn't expecting 22 steps up to the suite. This is not a place for someone with a cane or wheelchair. This suite is for 2 people not 3. The sofa bed is very uncomfortable. And there really isn't any parking. The food in the tavern was very good! The staff was very pleasant.
- Laura (10/5): - Wonderful, unique, perfect location and great service!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quaint and Pleasant Surprise Gem - This was a pleasant surprise as a last minute booking. The room was large and very comfortable. There were no issues with checking in and parking was provided. Everything was exactly as promised. The only minor issue is being on top of a restaurant, there was some music coming from a speaker which could be heard in the unit, but the music was turned off at closing at all was good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Well done, unique property. Located on top of the restaurant.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful interior design. Excellent service. The dinner was on point.
- JLC (8/5): - We chose Pikks for the unique decor and location. The room was spacious with plenty of room to kick back. The antique style and rustic living area was nicely done. I would recommend it for a weekend getaway. Local bars/restaurants and boutiques are within walking distance.
- nicholas (10/5): Excellent - Cute, awesome place
- Jane (10/5): - It was a lovely place. We enjoyed the location and the place. It was perfect for us.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Location - Nice place downtown. Close proximity to some great restaurants.
- VanWagner (10/5): - Great access to their great food and beer. Friendly personnel.
- brooke (10/5): - This was absolutely precious. It's a two room 'hotel' in the middle of downtown. Spacious, clean, and quiet.
- Verified traveler (10/5): pik - Great recommend! Large rooms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room was actually a suite decorated with lovely antiques. The staff is friendly and gracious. As a bonus, Pikk’s Tavern is right downstairs where you can get a terrific meal. Pikk’s Inn is a welcome departure from the cookie cutter chains.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Spacious room with tons of character, natural light with great decor
- STEFANIE (8/5): Awesome little space - I have never stayed at an inn before so this was a different experience altogether. You check in at the bar and The innkeeper takes you upstairs to the room. There are 23 stairs so if you have a hard time with stairs this is not the place for you, however the room is very quaint and decorated I guess and older antique type style. The couch is comfortable the bed was comfortable I really love the high ceilings and the decor. I don't know if I want to stay there for more than a day but it's perfect for a one or two-day stay. There's no refrigerator in the room but you are surrounded by great businesses.
- JAMES (10/5): Highly Recommend - Very nice, clean, spacious rooms in a good location. Staff was very friendly.
- Selina (10/5): Valpo - This is a cool place to stay above a bar/restaurant. Valparaiso is a cute town and it is nice to stay in the middle of it.
- Derrick (8/5): - The room is beautiful and striking with old country comfort, yet modern facilities. Very roomy and comfortable. Long creaky steps to get to top floor. The room is almost theatrical with many artifacts. Getting double billed was annoying as the attendant billed my card again after seeing I already paid, but problem fixed by calls to hotels.com. The attendant is not present as the two rooms are above a restaurant. But restaurant employees are friendly and helpful. It's a very unique and memorable place to stay in downtown Valparaiso.
- Tracie (10/5): - Amazing! The hotel is quaint and historical.
- Sharon (8/5): - Wonderful location and decor. Bed was fantastic. Nice large rooms. I felt very comfortable here. I wish they would have had a small fridge and microwave. Pikk's restaurant staff was outstanding. Thank you Andy, Connor, and Erica.
- Chris (10/5): - My wife and I were looking for a place close to downtown since we would be visiting the breweries in that area. This place is right downtown across from the park and is within walking distance of everywhere we wanted to be. The room had a very cool old timey style to it and a great view of the city center. It was clean, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet. I would definitely stay here again, and they also gave us a $10 credit for the bar downstairs.
We were going to end our night watching some DVDs, but there wasn't a DVD player unfortunately. The only bad thing I can say really. It was surprisingly great.
- Eleanor (8/5): - This place and the street it was on were super cute. Very walkable with local shops and restaurants. Staff was attentive and accommodating!!! Had a great stay, my only suggestion was that the room be brighter, only because I was there for work. Otherwise, very cozy!
- Laura (10/5): - We stayed at Pikk's on a recent trip to Valparaiso and will stay there on all future visits. The room was large, comfortable, clean, and beautifully decorated. Our room overlooked downtown's park and was within brief walking distance of local dining and attractions. And, of course, right above Pikk's Tavern for drinks and delicious food!
- Jake (10/5): - Great apartment right in lovely downtown Valpo
- MARKatTheAlley (4/5): - So amazing remodel, in love AT CHECK IN than let down. Said wifi and continental breakfast, neither existed, only two pillows, cable broken ONE CHANNEL, room is over kitchen of this "great place" and the walk in cooler vibrated into the room all night. Yes, we are in the country and I get it but the last straw was the bug in the bed.Someone put a TON OF LOVE into this rehab, we were so excited when we first checked in, my wife LOVED IT. It was $200 a night as well in tiny town. Room was worth every penny if they had it right. Hope they fix this, have eaten in the food place downstairs, great place, SO SAD
- Jerry (8/5): - Needs four things: bathroom glasses, full-length mirror, mini fridge and some hangers for the armoire or a dresser. Very nice, reasonably priced room in a great downtown location. Would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was great, but it appeared that they were not expecting us or were surprised when we showed up to check in. We waited downstairs in the bar, someone got the man from the Inn who asked us how we made our reservation, then disappeared for about 20 min or so then finally came back down to give us the key, etc. The room was super hot (like the ac had been off and was just turned on) but when we got back later it was cool. Other than that, we loved it, the food downstairs was great, the room was really cute, comfortable and a great location!
