• Darragh (4/5): Nice accommodation ruined by rude fellow guests. - The pool and rooms were to a good standard. I had originally booked 3 rooms for 3 groups. However, upon arrival the 3 rooms were not available. The host was able to locate 2 rooms in a nearby hotel of similar quality for my travel mates which was appreciated. On arrival to the apartments, some fellow guests made comments towards our travel group insinuating we did not belong in Moonstone or we had to be in the wrong place. This was rude and out of line. The issues with the other guests does not stop there. During the hours of 2am to 7am on the 20th of April, two guests were having a loud domestic dispute in our neighbouring room. They were roaring, slamming doors and punching walls for the entire night. It was a scary experience and ruined my entire evening and day-after due to a lack of sleep. When I mentioned it to a worker this morning and requested to speak with the Moonstone owner, my request was ignored. Good money was paid for the accommodation and nobody should ever be scared in that type of situation. I hope you read this review and learn from it. Also, if those guests are still on the premises they should be reprimanded. Thanks.

• Berney (10/5): We hadden een heerlijk verblijf, mede dankzij de eigenaar en leuke gasten in het hotel! - Wat me het meest beviel was de ruimte van de kamers, hygiëne, sfeer onder de gasten en eigenaar en het fantastische uitzicht. Als je slecht ter been bent is dit geen goede locatie omdat het hotel op een steile heuvel ligt. Of je moet met de scooter de heuvel op gaan dan is er geen probleem.

Even it was only 20 minutes walking distance, but maybe it was because of the direction of the wind. It was a little bit expensive but i think they increases the prices of the rooms because of the full moon party, which is understandable for me. It was an ok place to stay. The room looks like a place where you can get into the vibe. Big TV screen, nice colours, good view at the see and waving palm trees, weird fake wooden circle-stairs. The room doesn't have a very beautiful style but i think the furniture and decoration are just chosen because it is cheap and practical. You can drink beer at the swimming pool. Bar tender was very friendly, but i little bit shy. He directly helped me with any question I had. There were some other people who looked liked they were also going to the full moon party, laying down next to the swimming pool, staring to somewhere faw away by themselves. No social vibes. The stay in this hotel was fine for this occasion. But i was glad to leave Haad Rin as soon as possible the day after the party to visit better Places in Koh Phangan. Nothing

• Willemeyne (8/5): Een fijne plek om te verblijven op Koh Phanang! - Het appartement was netjes, schoon en alles werkte goed. De indeling is logisch en het heeft een hele ludieke uitstraling. Het zwembad is fijn met ligbedjes in de schaduw en een bar. Het ligt iets buiten Haad Rin beach maar is prima te lopen naar fijne strandtenten. De communicatie is erg prettig, makkelijk en snel. We wilden onze kamers toch graag naast elkaar en dat was geen enkel probleem.

They also extended our stay to accommodate the situation and helped us move to a more suitable room. The place itself is also amazing. The rooms are very spacious, and have amazing views of the sea and the pool. I honestly couldn't recommend this place enough.- It was a really lovely stay all round (apart from my friend having to go to hospital of course) The only thing that would have made our stay better, would have been if they had a restaurant. Apart from that it was one of the best places we have stayed

• Ameleah (2/5): Avoid !!! - An uncomfortable place with a very weird atmosphere. Room was not thoroughly clean, ants and other bugs absolutely everywhere, as well as hair and strange white stains. Ants ended up crawling all over my belongings. Forget about typical Thai hospitality and warmth that you’ve experienced on your travels, the owner/manager is not friendly at all, and is constantly hanging around on the property watching you go in and out, which is just super off putting. The only redeeming factor of this place is the incredible view, and the proximity to the full moon party - it was close enough to it but it was nice to come back somewhere quiet away from the bars and clubs. It was just about fine to stay here for 2 nights for the full moon party, but otherwise I would not recommend this place at all.

• Noam (7/5): A good place for a few nights near Haad Rin - The location is great if you don’t want to stay in the busy heart of Haad Rin, but also don’t want to take a taxi to get there. Haad Rin beach was only 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel. Also, the pool was great and the design of the hotel is groovy. Climbing to the hotel, and then to the rooms, is not for the faint of heart. We were 2 fit adults in our 30s and we struggled. Also, the bed wasn’t very comfortable. Was a bit too pricy for what we got in my opinion.

No black tea but that is my own fault for not bringing and you can't buy anywhere on the island sa tourist locally. Rainstorm stopped us from exploring island, no one's fault really that one. The worker looking after the guests was very reluctant to get involved and sat laying on the couch near the pool most days and usually just said no to every request I made. Only when I emailed the manager did he actually help and bring things to the room such as a cereal bowl after we were stuck inside because of the constant rain. The TV volume did not work for some reason so couldn't watch anything while stuck inside during the rain storms.
• 423garryw (8/5): Good - Stayed 3 nights at moonstone studio , booked the slightly larger room which was nice, room had fridge, safety box , kettle, pool was ok for cool down but quite small, close to haad rin beach 10 minute walk, , a few restaurants and a 7- 11 about 10 minute walk but not much around the hotel , pretty steep hill up to the rooms , not easy if u have any walking issues , much easier on a bike but need to be reasonably confident driving a bike going up and down , nice sea view from the room, 15 - 20 minute bike ride from the pier , staff good overall i enjoyed my stay
• Reut (3/5): Disappointed - Room was clean. We read the good reviews about this place before arriving and were excited for our stay. Unfortunately, our expectations were not met at all. Haad Rin in general feels like a ghost area, far from the more lively Sri Thanu. We felt very isolated at the studio. We’ll give the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe it’s different during high season (we stayed in the beginning of October-low season). We arrived and the studio seemed empty, until we saw one of the cleaning staff who showed us our room. He was the only staff member we saw our whole stay. On the first night we woke up in the middle of the night because of karaoke and loud people from the nearby hotel. On the days after, we kept hearing loud music from the staff room at our hotel. When we asked about laundry/motorbike services, it felt that it was a hassle for the staff and we were told to go do laundry in a nearby shop. Pool seemed ok, but nothing to write home about. We are very easy to please guests which is why we were very disappointed with our stay here.

Great view from the room and pool. The pool needs a revamp, the grouting is falling out and gets on your feet which isn’t pleasant. There were ants In the supplied tea/coffee box. Was no reception, and no manned bar next to the pool. You just have to wait for someone to walk past and ask for things. Very steep hill to get to the accommodation, if you have any troubles walking this is absolutely NOT the place for you.

Rooms abit outdated but nothing to worry about! Wonderfullllll view from rooms, great clean pool. Rooms abit outdated, room door cant be locked so dont leave important things in room. The hotel on a very high hill with no accessibility, not for eldery!! On the last day we’ve seen a guest fall and break his legs and head(skull), he laid bleeding in a very bad & fatal condition for 50 minutes before hotel did anything!!!!! Evenso the paramedic came, it was a hell of a challenge to take him down the steep hill!!! Becareful! Still a very beautiful hotel and view!! Worth the price!

• Thierry (10/5): Amazing Stay at Moonstone Studio Koh Phangan - I had an amazing stay at Moonstone Studio in Koh Phangan. The location offers stunning sea and jungle views, making it a peaceful holidays. The studio was very clean, spacious, and well-equipped. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, ensuring a comfortable stay. The property is accurately described on Booking.com, so there were no surprises. We understood that there was no restaurant on-site, but the nearby dining options more than made up for it. Highly recommend Moonstone Studio for a relaxing and enjoyable, fun stay in Koh Phangan. Nothing that I did not like; everything was good for an affordable price.
• Jiacheng (1/5): Worst experience after staying at varies places on the island. - Nothing The hotel was very unprofessional. The staff there showed no care for their guests. First of all, they refused to let us in 40 min early but they already have a room available. After we told them we want to cancel the reservation, they immediately checked us in. Secondly, the next morning, they refused to clean our room and give us water bottles for the second day. When reported to the manager, they literally told me that they are not a hotel but a “service apartment” so they don’t clean everyday (and the complimentary water you only get for the fiesta day, and that I “get what I paid for”. Thirdly, the location is very remote and far from everything. The Haad Rin area is rather dead over non full moon party time. The businesses there seem to be more concentrated in catering to party goers and tourist. The hotel is also very limited. The pool was dirty. Plastic wrap floating on the bottom of the pool, and I even found a lighter in the water while swimming. The bar is basically closed. They don’t serve breakfast or anything at all. Lastly, the entrance to the reception and the rest of the hotel is VERY steep. If you are riding motorcycles be very aware of it. It’s dangerous to get to. I’ve been staying at different places on this island, so far this is the absolutely worst experience ever, and I don’t remember being in this situation in the past two months in elsewhere Thailand. I don’t understand how they got the high score on the platform, but the staff there now were half arses (one of them literally walked around with half arse exposed), maybe they changed management group or something, but this level of unprofessional conduct is outrageous.

When we arrived there was no one to welcome you. However,when we pressed a doorbell someone came to show us the room (20min after pressing) Also, we stayed for 7 nights and even when you hung up the sign to clean, they did not really clean anything but the sheets and did some wiping of the floor. So the bathroom was not cleaned in the 6 days we were there. Also, the hostess was sitting at one of the 2 tables at the pool, staring at here phone, from 1pm till 6pm. It did not make us really comfortable to sit with here at the table and doesnt give a very friendly feeling.

• Laura (10/5): Beautiful property. Breathtaking views. Soft beds. Kind staff. Excellent value. - I stayed here because some friends recommended it to me — friends who had loved their own stay at Moonstone enough several years ago that they spent *two months* here. They told me that Moonstone was especially fantastic for its location (near the pier where we were arriving) and — above all — the views, at a very reasonable price. And what else can I say but wow? It was an excellent recommendation. I rented a studio here, and it was the perfect size, with a small desk, a mini-fridge, a bench, a space to hang some clothing, another small table near the bathroom, two mirrors, two trash cans, and air conditioning. The bed was spacious and very comfortable, with soft blankets. Best of all, you can see a view of the mountainside and the water beyond it *directly from the bed.* Absolutely breathtaking. There is also a lovely pool on the property (with a equally lovely view), but since the property is within walking distance to the beach (20 min. walk to Haad Rin) and Moonstone also offers a very reasonably priced motorbike rental, I didn't really hang around the common area long enough to try the pool. I recommend renting your bike at Moonstone for a hassle-free experience; Moonstone won't try to scam you (unlike some of the smaller bike rental shops in the area) because they respect their guests and want their guests to be happy with the services on the property. All of this was spectacular enough. But what REALLY impressed me was the kindness of the owners: I left a bag here in storage when I went to another island. However, I got very sick after some days on the other island and wasn't able to return to Koh Phangan for my bag. Moonstone actually arranged to transfer my bag to my doctor on the other island under these very exceptional circumstances so that I would not have to travel back to Koh Phangan while I was so ill and weak. I will be forever grateful for this, and I would absolutely stay here again. Thank you, Moonstone! There's nothing about this property that I didn't like, so the following is not a criticism, more so just a matter-of-fact observation for other guests to manage their expectations: Yes, it's true when other reviewers say that sometimes they see ants in the rooms. BUT this is true of practically *anywhere* on the islands in the Gulf. So it is not a cleaning deficit at Moonstone. My room was very clean. Ants are just a normal function of this climate, particularly in buildings that open their windows for healthy ventilation. You are in the tropics, you will see ants, deal with it. Just be smart and keep any food or sugary drinks in airtight storage, and don't eat or drink in the bed. If you do this (like I did), the ants are minimal and will not spoil your stay in the slightest. Also a friendly tip for guests with mobility challenges: this property is on a very steep hill, and some of the upper-level rooms also have steep spiral staircases. That's why the views from the rooms are so amazing. If you are unable to navigate hills or stairs, though, unfortunately this property might be a challenge for you.
