- Patricia (7/5): Lovely place good location and good breakfast - Lovely big house shame it is not full of customers as lovely place and grounds We were there as been to saffron Walden so not far to drive and pubs were close to walk
- Alison (7/5): Good base for visiting local area - Comfortable room and bed.
Well placed for visiting local pubs for a meal. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was just ok, but not exceptional. Bedroom in stable block across from main hotel. Hotel itself in need of an update, a little run down.
- Stefan (7/5): -
- Turnbull (8/5): -
- Julie (9/5): Good stay - Breakfast was good. Bed very comfortable Slight musky smell in room when first arrived
- Jovi (9/5): Fantastic. - Fantastic. Staff are amazing. Breakfast is amazing. Room was lovely. Only pointer, updating the old carpets in the bathroom for hygiene purposes. Carpets in bathrooms hold so many germs. It was very clean in fairness, but that update would make it that little bit better.
- Martin (7/5): Comfortable stay for our one night in Great Chesterford. - Good quality room with en suite, TV and tea/coffee facilities. Comfortable bed. Great breakfast. Plenty of parking. Good wifi. It was a hot night so it was a shame the landing radiators were full on, also in the restaurant radiators full on when no need. Thermostatic valves had been removed or fallen off. Seems a waste of energy with windows and doors fully open. Generally a but tired and needs a lick of paint on the window frames.

- Peter (9/5): Really like this place, will always use it for my local stays - This is a great stay, simple, but clean and well maintained. Great breakfast too Nothing

- Graham (10/5): - Slept well good breakfast I booked on line when we arrived at the hotel it said on the door it was closed ee drove to the plough in the village there boss new the boss of the Crown he apolgised and said it was a staff error and he was back at the crown we drove back and we wanted to go back to the plough for food as the crown doesent serve evening meals the arranged for someone to take us and puck us up
- Christine (8/5): -
- Ewa (6/5): Nice staff but rooms a bit dated - Good location and kind staff Beds were too soft and uncomfortable, facilities in room were dated and WiFi was terrible which was an issue as I had to work from the room
- Justine (10/5): - The location was nice
- John En Jeannet (9/5): Prima kleinschalig hotel. - Rust, vriendelijke gastheer/vrouw. Uitstekend/lekker ontbijt. Heel lekker tap bier. Prettige kamer. Ontbreken diner mogelijkheid in het hotel.
- Kathleen Crawshaw (10/5): - Everything, from the welcome to the service at breakfast, the food, the cleanliness of the room and the facilities in the room. We were on the main road in the village. However, although there was a reasonable amount of traffic, we weren't disturbed by it.
- Peter (7/5): Just stayed for night , it was fine for the price. Would certainly go back . - Plenty of parking space very good breakfast
- Grant (9/5): -
- Benjamin (10/5): -
- PATRICIA (7/5): The staff and breakfast make up for outdated plumbing - Really old historical building in a convenient location for our stop over stay
Pretty room in the annexe.
Amazing staff who clearly are very committed to excellent customer service.
Great freshly cooked breakfast Overall in need of a refurbishment, but accept that is very difficult in this current climate.
Saying that, would definitely stay again if we were in the vicinity, because we were made to feel so welcome and that goes a long way in my book
- Jackson (8/5): Great place to stay at a good price. - Room was clean and comfortable and set up with twin beds as requested. The breakfast was lovely and the vegetarian option I had requested was available. The room was a little warm for our liking but we were unable to find the heating controls to reduce the temperature.
- Vishal (7/5): Comfortable, could do with some updating. - Clean, comfortable, reasonably spacious room.
Friendly staff.
Good amount of space to park vehicle.
Decent full English breakfast options. Awful mattress (v saggy!) - needs replacing
Bathroom recently renovated and very clean, but water pressure in the shower was very poor.
- Emre (10/5): -
- Andy (9/5): The stay was excellent with the local attractions attended. - Friendly staff, location, room played out as requested and the breakfast was really good with different options. Nothing had a fantastic stay.
- Warren (10/5): A simple welcoming place to stay with great staff - Staff went over and above and made me feel very welcome Nothing.
- Philip (9/5): - Our room was very comfortable. Huge comfy bed & modern, clean bathroom. We were made welcome on arrival & information we were given was very helpful. The breakfast was very good too. We had a lovely night here. Would highly recommend. Nothing

- Caleb (10/5): -

- DAVID (9/5): Made our holiday just right - Breakfast and room and staff excellent
- Kenneth (10/5): The staff made the stay absolutely brilliant - The staff were so helpful and friendly in difficult circumstances
- Nikki (8/5): Homely feel with personal touch - Full of character but comfortable
- Karin (7/5): Perfectly ok for one night, with very friendly staff - The room was functional and quiet, the bed ok and cosy. I enjoyed a typical English breakfast in the morning. The staff at the reception and at the breakfast buffet was very friendly. The house has seen better days and has some defects, e.g. the window in my room was broken. It is ok when you do not have very high expectations for a solid, high-quality construction.
- Norman (8/5): - Good room and its facilities. All Staff very polite and approachable Good breakfast selection. Not really a dislike but would have been much better if they were able to supply evening meals!!
- Judith (8/5): Welcoming and relaxed - Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was excellent. My room was cold. Could do with an update but it was clean and bed was great so no complaints other than could have done with a heater but had I asked for one I’m sure it would have been found.
- Kevin (10/5): Great place, friendly people and fully recommend. - Great place, architecture and history. Nothing
- Gisele (7/5): -
- Caroline (10/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): -
- James (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): - Amazing room and fun staff. Great fun and tunes in the bar
Short walk to the pub in the village for Thai food
- Joe (9/5): - Great veggie breakfast.
- Broad (8/5): -
- Lucy (8/5): Does what it says on the tin - Easy to find and accessible for what I needed Bed/ mattress is a little dated, would be nice to have decaff in room as well as a larger mug for cup of tea but all minor things
- Jeff (8/5): - Great friendly, helpful staff, lovely room and really good location
- Andrew (10/5): Brilliant - Location and staff
- leonie (8/5): Good value lovely helpful staff - Friendly staff, cosy room and lovely breakfast .
- Paul (9/5): -
- Paul (9/5): -
- Christine (5/5): - The room was large and comfortable, although the decor is a little tired. We were expecting a bar as advertised. When we returned at 9.15 on a Friday evening the main building was was locked.
To call this a hotel is something of a stretch, it was a room plus breakfast.
- Gordon (9/5): - The convenient setting. Nothing
- Lucy (7/5): -
- Timothy (6/5): Wouldn’t stay again - Good WiFi
The second room I was placed in was much better Had to be move rooms as heating wasn’t working and was freezing
Very dated and abit tatty.
No restaurant
Shower pressure and temperature terrible
- Claire (9/5): - Traditional house with plenty of history. We had a lovely meal in the village crown and thistle pub. Thai and pizza. Excellent this was recommended by the owner. We also had an upgrade on the room i had booked that was amazing and beautiful traditional room. Nothing
- Pete (8/5): Very good - Bed was very comfortable, Breakfasts were very tasty, and staff great Rooms a little dated, and broken shower
- Philip (7/5): -
- Legg (7/5): Crown house review - Staff friendly and helpful . Great breakfast.good bar. Good atmosphere. Bed in room 18 was poor Old and tired. As were the fixtures and fittings
- DAVID (8/5): Chris was extremely helpful in fixing the mirrors on my motorbike -
- Sandy (5/5): -
- Candice (9/5): - Spotlessly clean, staff helpful, quiet, warm, great position in the village, ample safe secure parking, comfortable beds, spacious room and large bathroom with bath and septic shower cubicle, large fluffy towels, tea/coffee making facilities Slightly tired in decor, but that's a minor point
- Marcus (8/5): Reception staff made us feel really welcomed and breakfast was perfect - The property has a lot of charm in its old age and that’s why we booked it, loved the individual character that only a property like this can provide. Being an older property not everything is in perfect condition, however that is to be expected and what gives an old place like this its charm.
- Guy (4/5): Sadly can’t recommend. - Location was good for my visit, friendly staff and good parking. Bathroom with black mold on shower head and growing on the ceiling. Double bed which can be split with 2 x very soft mattresses creating a raised central bit where they met right down the middle of the bed.
- Manuela (8/5): As above - Great location for what we wanted. Good room with everything we needed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Upon arrival Clare was very helpful and recommended local pubs for dinner. Nothing comes to mind
- Piet (7/5): -
- Lynn (10/5): Lovely stay in Great Chesterford - The staff at this property are very friendly and made a great impression on us. Our room was very nice and we appreciate the staff making sure we were comfortable. I can't stress enough how helpful they were. Our bed and room was very comfortable. Breakfast the next day was nothing fancy, but still quite nice. Nothing, we did have some issues with our satnav finding the property, but then we sorted it out.
- Allan (7/5): -
- Belinda (9/5): Lovely, characterful hotel with great staff and comfortable rooms. - Very comfortable and well located property. Good facilities. Great room, very spacious. Staff were so helpful and efficient. Breakfast was super. Everything neatly arranged and nothing seemed too much trouble at all. Good bar facilities for the evening, would happily return, Nothing, it was all very good indeed.
- henry (8/5): Good stopover after a long drive, would stay again. - Very comfortable room and beds, nice and quiet. Staff recommended dinner at the other Pub. Very good and reasonable and nice to have a little walk. Breakfast was OK but not very exciting. Packets of everything was a bit disappointing.
Bathroom was a bit tired.
- Leigh (9/5): Lush! - Everything was lovely. More tea & milk provided in the room.
- Lynton Edwards (8/5): Pleasant place to stay. Make sure you are self-sufficient in the evening. - Bedrooms were in a separate block, were clean and comfortable, a good bathroom, comfy beds, tea and coffee, tv. All fine. Lots of parking. Quiet and private. 1. At about 8.30pm I really wanted a cup of decaffinated tea - there was no access to the Reception block and no one around. In the room there was no phone number or suggestion how to contact people. This was not an emergency obviously, but what if there was? I think guests, staying away from home, do need support some times. I needed a cup of tea and perhaps an aspirin - no one to help
2.Breakfast was served on time. Coffee was in a big flask, tepid, tasted a bit weak and might I say, old. Asked for hot water and got a little jug which was not hot enough. The food was fine and there were juices, but. Coffee/Tea are important at breakfast aren't they.
- Hans Josef (8/5): - Das Hotel ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen bräuchte eine Renovierung, das Personal nett, zuvorkommend und überaus freundlich Hier und da renovierungsbedürftig
- Bob (9/5): Highly recommend Crown House. - Relaxed atmosphere, great staff. Very comfortable beds. 2 of the showers lacked pressure

- michael (8/5): Nice hotel - Nice and friendly staff .bedroom was nice and comfortable. Bar was not open on a saturday night
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Patricia (10/5): Excellent - The breakfast was really good, we had a full English and it was enough to last us all day.
The staff were really helpful. Nothing
- Terry Millband (9/5): -

- CFenn (9/5): Fantastic hotel like a home from home - We arrived late in the evening, yet were given a wonderfully warm welcome and offer of drinks and making ourselves at home in the lounge area. The room was clean and comfortable and excellent breakfast.

- Rogers (8/5): -
- Yetman (10/5): -
- Hollis (8/5): Perfect for one night - great staff - Friendly staff. Gardens are lovely and comfy bed. Needs an update and a bit of a scrub.
- Geraint (9/5): Great little weekend getaway. - The hotel is situated on the outskirts of a small village (Great Chesterford), right next to the main road. Even though it is next to a main road, in the garden it is quiet and relaxing. Noise was minimal in the room that we were in as well. Staff were warm and friendly. The cooked breakfast was very tasty. You just helped yourself. On offer were eggs, either poached or fried; bacon; sausages; beans; fried bread; mushrooms and hash browns and toast. I dont think I've missed anything out. Everything was hot. Other options included cereal, fruit, and yoghurt. Coffee was hot and string. Lots of history with the hotel, if you find that interesting. Car parking was ample.
- joan (10/5): We would book the crown next year for our visit to the sue show it was just perfect - Clean rooms lovely surroundings lovely n to a very pretty village
lovely breakfast
Accommodating staff
