• Carl (10/5): Fantastic Stay in the Heart of Nature - I missed the opportunity to stay here during my previous trip, but this time I finally experienced Occidental Paradise Dambulla. It was a wonderful stay from start to finish. The environment is peaceful, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the staff provide excellent service. The buffet was also very good with plenty of options. I’m glad I finally got the chance to stay here. Everything is perfect

Bathroom showers are moldy, towels old, wardrobe doors do not open, TV remotes missing pieces, windows and curtains not cleaned in ages, didn't have hot water until we reported and got the rooms changed.

• Louise (10/5): Heerlijk verblijf met ons gezin - De kamer was supergroot en comfortabel. Het personeel was erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Slapen tussen de apen en andere wilde dieren was erg bijzonder. Er zat een deur tussen onze kamer en die naast ons, dit was gehorig.
• Thushan (5/5): While the property has good features, overall it was very poor value for the price paid, especially given the condition - The pool was nice, the buffet was enjoyable, and the property itself is very large and spacious. The chalets have a nice layout and potential. Unfortunately, the chalets feel quite old and in need of refurbishment. The smart lighting system was frustrating to use and would be better removed altogether. The wooden floorboards in the bathroom were old, mouldy, and even crumbling. The TV was very small, and for the price, a smart TV should really be standard.

• OliverSimionescu (8/5): nice place - big rooms - good restaurant - Occidental Paradise Dambulla is far from being a true 5-star hotel, especially by Sri Lankan standards. The rooms are spacious, which is a plus, but there is definitely room for improvement when it comes to cleanliness. The same goes for the staff organization. While the reception team is very kind, friendly, and helpful, the rest of the staff felt a bit disorganized. We had an issue with the laundry service: we left a few clothes to be cleaned and almost left the hotel without them. We were told they would be delivered to our room in the afternoon, but when we returned in the evening, they were nowhere to be found. The reception staff had to make several calls to locate them, which was a bit stressful. On the positive side, the food at the restaurant is very good and diverse, both for breakfast and dinner. There are plenty of options, and I highly recommend trying the dinner buffet, especially if you want to taste local Sri Lankan dishes — it’s worth it. We stayed here for two nights and overall we felt good, but we believe some small improvements could really make a difference. Also worth mentioning: the swimming pool is large, clean, and very enjoyable.

• ThamiraW (9/5): Had a good time. Relaxed and energized. - We stayed for two nights. The staff is very kind and helpful. They looked after us very well with a personalised attention. Environment is very calm and relaxing. Lot of trees, with a adjacent lake too. Fine weather, not hot. Food was good. Staff was friendly and helpful to make customized items as well, when we had needs for kids. Overall it was a wonderful experience we had. Thank you Occidental. All the very best for new hikes!!!

• Claudia (7/5): A rustic experience in a green environment - The cottages are spacious. The pool and the green surroundings are great. The staff was very friendly and solved problems quickly. The English level was sometimes questionable. The communication was difficult. I wrote many times and my request was still not met upon our arrival. They then found a workable solution. The Aircon upstairs was not working and they gave us an additional room. When we arrived at the car park, there was rubbish everywhere. While waiting during checkin, I used the public toilet and it was dirty and smelly.

• Yasas (9/5): Nice and calm stay that is worth for the money spent - We stayed at Occidental Paradise for one night and we were pleasantly surprised with the service of the staff and location. We had a quite good spread as Breakfast and Dinner options and food were tasty as well. We got a room upgrade for 3 of our rooms and management was nice enough to arrange all our requests quickly. We also enjoyed the complementary Spa treatment per room and pool facilities. Would recommend Occidental Paradise to anyone interested and would definitely check out other hotels from the management as well. Low lighting setting in the rooms with the rainy conditions

• Danielle (4/5): Disappointing - not worth the 5 stars or the rates! - The staff is generally really sweet and nice, though sometimes a bit much. Very overpriced for a hotel that is in need for maintenance and refresh. Our biggest issue was that the electricity kept falling out, also in the middle of the night. When that happened a big emergency light in the rooms would turn on. It happened two nights at 4.40 in the middle of the night and once again at 5.00 - the whole family was wide awake. When we called reception they said ‘they knew’. The next mornings no reference was made by the team. The staff is generally really sweet and nice, though sometimes a bit much. It is not possible to enjoy a meal without having 4-5 ppl from the staff come with long lists of questions. Of course meaning well, but this is sometimes a bit much. The rooms need a thorough clean. It seems like they only get quick updates or they don’t have the right cleaning material. The showers hardly worked due to the extreme amount of chalk, so we used the hand shower. The bathroom had many chalk and mouldy stains. A lot of the roofs had plastic on top. I moved the bedside table as we lost an earplug. Under it were many dead bugs, swept underneath. The bed had several stains when we arrived. The gym was very outdated and the AC did not work there. The security guy also could not get it on. The machines need a good clean, they are sticky. As for the food they offer buffets both for breakfast and diner. It is nice that they vary in the evenings. We mostly tried local food which was nice. But in general this also needs a ‘2025/2026 update’. For example plant based milk options for coffee, fruits like pineapple, plant based yoghurt, a bit more healthy food options. It is better to have a littles less options but all of them are really good. Right now they relay heavily on sausages, bacon or Sri Lankan curries. We went to a 3 star after and it was so much better than this 5 star location.
• Jonathan (9/5): Nice place to explore the region from. - Relaxing setting. Friendly staff. The pool. Easy access to Lion Rock and the elephants. Most of the kids activities were closed including the zip line, rock wall and high ropes which our kids were looking forward to. The road to hotel is also in very poor condition. Both were impacted by recent heavy rains and may not have had time to be fixed which we understand.

Vi hade 15 min spamassage och middag inkluderat i priset. Mycket vänlig personal. Rent och fräscht rum, bra AC och stort badrum med dubbla handfat. Massagen var inte bra. Kladdade mest ner med olja hipp som happ, inte utbildade massörer. Var lite oförstående att middagen ingick i vår bokning men de löste det snyggt och var inga problem när jag visade bekräftelsen från Booking.

The manager, Niroshan, and Ranga truly made our stay easy, memorable, and great value for money. They looked after us exceptionally well and were flexible and understanding of our situation, allowing us to fully enjoy our time at the hotel. Ranga ensured we had an outstanding food experience and went above and beyond to make sure we were completely satisfied. Niroshan made sure our entire family received the complimentary spa package, which was a lovely touch. Instead of strictly following hotel rulebooks and policies, they focused on creating the best possible guest experience. Their hospitality truly made our stay special. We have no complaints

• Hellena (10/5): Really beautiful place - Really beautiful place with overly attentive and helpful service at all times! Safe journey and place even shortly after the cyclon in Dec 2025. The rooms are lovely and well-equipped, the buffet is huge with a great variety of freshly prepared local and International options, savory and sweet! Huge pool and great workout room, lovely spa and bar. The surroundings are quiet with great nature. Peacocks, lemurs, cats and more on the beautifully green grounds. Sound athmosphere at night is jungle feeling. Clear recommendation!
• Anastasia (6/5): A hotel with a great concept and spacious rooms, but in need of some updates and improved cleanliness. - The idea of the property is lovely. The Superior Duplex is very spacious, the setting is peaceful and surrounded by nature, and the glass-walled gym has a beautiful view. We also liked that there was a complimentary spa treatment included in the stay. The property feels old and poorly maintained. Cleanliness was a real issue: stains on curtains, unpolished bathroom fixtures, visible mould in the shower and gym, and the spa experience was uncomfortable. The therapist did not wash hands or change the towel between guests. It didn’t feel hygienic.

Some of the facilities were dated, tired eg shower doors, room doors. These all worked fine but just old school now. The pathways from the main building to the rooms and pool could do with being refreshed. The hotel also caters to group travellers so it can be noisy or feel it's catering to the masses. Location is good for the sights but not for eating elsewhere

Nos dieron una hanbitacion superior a la que habiamos reservado, y nos permitieron early check in y late check out para disfrutar del hotel. La piscina es emorme, con bar y personal pendiente de lo que necesites. Te ayudan con el transporte, esta algo alejado de Lion Rock, pero a cambio el enclave del hotel es increible. El desayuno buffet era increible y muy bariado. Tambien cenamos en su buffet un par de dias, variado y buen precio. Todo el personal del hotel es super amable y te ayudan en lo que necesites. Especial mencion a Feroz, que estuvo super pendiente de nosotros e hizo de nuestra estancia una experiencia increible. En resumen, una estancia perfecta! Nada, todo perfecto.

The place itself was just perfect: not too big, not too small – with a beautiful atmosphere that made it feel like a true retreat. The Chalet is spacious and nice The bathroom can be modernized and refreshed Maybe the breakfast can be improved but it is the same thing in all the 5 good stars hotels we were in
• CORALIE (10/5): - Chambres datées mais qui sont malgré tout tres confort, literie au top, lieu calme et paisible, buffet petit dejeuner et diner incroyable, service irreprochable, belle piscine, nous aurions bien aimé prolonger le sejour, j y retournerai sans hesiter. Rien, c est un excellent rapport qualité prix
