- BEVERLY (4/5): - Wallpaper ripped and peeling. Sharp edges on bench and table in “kitchen” area . Rusted refrigerator. Corroded pot/ flimsy utensils, spongy floor under rubber mat in “kitchen” carpets filthy, old space heaters in rooms, lumpy mattresses. Rooms were dark. Tom was pleasant. Towels were fluffy, bed linens were clean but everything else smelled musty. We stayed 1 rainy night out of three and checked out.

The property is clean and neat and offers anything you can need: for grilling, firepit, swimming at the pool, ping pong, volleyball, you name it. We also can walk to the stables next door to take a trail ride. We always want to book the following year before we even leave. We stayed 7 nights. See you next summer Tom!

- Alexandra (6/5): - I’m all about rustic cabins in the woods but these just need some TLC. I don’t even care as much about the peeling paint, or rusted shower but the smell of old, musty room enhanced every time the old window unit AC was on was little too much for me. We were lucky the weather was nice so we opted for open windows most of the time. We picked this place because it’s pet friendly. Upon our arrival, the owner/manager (?) greeted me by saying I was supposed to call ahead that I’m bringing a dog. Well, I didn’t know that. Then I was told to minimize the time the dog spends in the cabin alone. So that didn’t seem very dog friendly to me until I saw people who arrived a day after us letting their dogs run in the fenced in pool area off leash and swimming in the pool. Anyway, the rules for dogs just seem too weird and with everything else, I would probably not stay again. The best part is the location.

- Jeffrey (6/5): Clean and basic knotty pine older motel. - The owners are nice people, friendly and responsive. They took care of us when we needed to extend our stay another day, and upgraded one of our rooms to a better free-standing chalet-type unit. The units were clean, and the aesthetic is traditional knotty pine, old-time Adirondaks camp. Showing the era they are dated to, the bathrooms are small. The units are in varying conditions of wear and tear, some quite "tired" and in need of updating in various ways, such as very noisy air conditioners. The beds were fair to good. It fills the bill for a traditional old motel and affordable, basic accommodations. If you must have modern features like wifi and three-prong electrical outlets, or a luxurious bathroom, these are not for you. Overall we were satisfied to have stayed for three nights. We recommend the free-standing, chalet type units as they are in more finished condition.

Great location to explore the area without being in the busy tourist area. WiFi was fine Would have liked some basic kitchen appliances in the room (coffee/ tea maker)
- XIOMARA (8/5): - I travel with my husband and two sons.The location is close to the village of Lake Greorge ( by car), the staff are friendly and helpfull. We like this location becouse the cottage has everything that you need for a stay ( mini kitchen, bathroom with shower, beds, tv , air conditioner and some pots, pans, ect..). Also you can bring your own grill and kitchen items. The location is beautiful. We will back again.

Definitely would go back again!

There were a few guests that were a bit loud on occasion, but that can't be helped, especially during busy season. We would probably just choose a cabin that is alone rather than shared next time. - Christopher (9/5): If your looking for a relaxing rustic cabin experience, this is the place! - The location was perfect. Plenty of little stores and restaurants close by. The owners are very nice and go out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and we slept really well for our 5 night stay. The bathroom is really small. The water pressure was great but the shower head is very low and you have to duck down to wash your hair.

The cabin was clean, had a small fridge, small heater that worked a lot better than I had expected and had the basic amenities along with a flat screen tv with cable. The owner (or manager) was so nice and accommodating allowing me to check in early and check out late which worked out perfectly. There was parking right next to the cabin and a great deli / store up the road. The cabins are really cute! If you're looking for a luxury cabin this may not be for you but if you want clean, comfortable and a great host then I highly recommend staying here. I will be back!

I have a sensitive nose and slept nothing but clean county air while sleeping in this cabin.Each cabin has a little balcony with chairs which we enjoyed sitting out front before bed as well as early morning. We loved the location as it was minutes away from all tourist activities but just enough nature around us to feel we have successfully escaped for the weekend. We certainly would come back in a heart beat.

- Janice (10/5): It's a lovely spot to spend a few days! - This place is old-school Adirondack charm! It's not a fancy-schmancy top-of-the-line elegant showplace, so if that's what you need, please look elsewhere. If, however, you'd like to stay at a charming little retreat beautifully set among the trees, the Amber Lantern should make you happy. My small private cabin was perfect for one person, and I really appreciated my convenient dedicated parking spot. While I didn't use it, there's even a cute little front porch situated so you can sit and enjoy the North Country ambiance. The bed was comfy, the water pressure was great, the A/C, WIFI and TV all worked well, and the little refrigerator was handy. The cabin was also spotless, the grounds were well-kept and attractive, and the price was definitely right! I'd happily stay there again and would recommend it highly to all. In a perfect world, a microwave would be appreciated.

- Christopher (6/5): - Good location and a nice setting. But the place was rundown and in disrepair. AC was terribly loud, huge gap under entry door let any bug that wanted to get in, get in. No deadbolt or secondary lock on door and door fit very loosely so we slept with a chair wedged under the door handle. Was supposed to have a pool but apon arrival the pool was not available it was closed for repairs. Exterior lighting was very poor.

Blew a fuse because the outlets were not secure and connected correctly. Sink was very unsecured like it was glued to wall. Toilet was so close to wall that you had to sit sideways. Beds are too small. Looks cute from the outside. No light on sign so hard to see where it was located.

The owner is available and super helpful. The hotel is old school, but clean, and well maintained, and we love the rustic feel of it. The room is comfortable, we have a working fridge in the room, and when we needed help in an emergency, were able to borrow a microwave in order to eat dinner in. It might be time to replace the mattresses in our room, and the bathroom was in need of some upkeep.

(Mold inside lampshades, rusty, painted over shower and dust everywhere. Not to mention the musty closed up smell.
- Jo (10/5): Visit Lake George and stay at Amber Lantern Cabins - Tom and his wife who own the cabins are so hospitable and will answer any questions you have. The cabins are comfortable, with barbecues, playground and a pool, and close to all activities and are a bit down the road from places to kayak, trails, restaurants, beaches. It also a lovely place to sit outside and chat and relax. We rented 3 cabins. We are definitely thinking of going back next year. Prices are so reasonable.
