Guest Reviews
- Todd (10/5): - Our two night stay was perfect. Peaceful with a beautiful view of the mountains.
- Colin (6/5): - The room was nice and spacious and clean but it lacked furniture for sitting, the bed was extremely firm and uncomfortable, the sound proofing didn’t work was able to hear people above walking around very clearly. The view was good when it wasn’t blocked by the view of extremely close neighbours and the back parking was difficult to enter and exit.
- Robert (10/5): - This was a great find. Owners very accommodating. Lovely waking up and falling asleep looking at the mountains outside the windows.
- Linda (10/5): Easy check in - Had self check in that working great. Instructions were very good.
- Michele (10/5): - Great place, lol could use a little WD40 on a few door ;) but overall very nice. Thank you
- Marlee (6/5): - This little place was really cute and everything was mostly great! The space itself was clutter free, and tidy. My only feedback is that I think the bedding needs to be replaced. It had a very strong sour mildew like odour and I think it was the pillows, duvet and the sheets. It was so strong, it clung to our body and sleep clothes even after we left. A few other reviews mentioned the smell so I think it’s just time for a replacement! One other thing to mention is you might want to bring hair conditioner if you have longer hair. Not a big deal, there’s body wash that can be used as shampoo but beware long hair folks. Otherwise, great location and and space.
- Delaney (10/5): - This is our third time returning over the last several years and still impressed with the property every time.
- Abigail (8/5): Nice location, good size, lacks comfort - Based in a lovely neighbourhood, we found it very quiet at night during our visit.
It’s not a B&B if that’s what you’re looking for: as breakfast isn’t offered anymore (clearly stated), and you don’t have any in person interaction with the hosts.
Really spacious room, lovely modern bathroom. The room needs more soft furnishing added as if you speak any louder than a whisper it echoes all around the room as it’s so sparse.
Useful tea & coffee making facilities, plus a fridge (but it does hum all through the night which gets annoying).
We found the temperature of the room fine - it’s controlled by one main controller upstairs by the owners.
The one thing that really got to us is the bed. It creaks with the slightest movement as it’s made solely from wood so wakes you up in the night. Also the mattress is rock hard, even for someone who likes a firm matttess, and the pillows need replacing.
- Lyndsay (10/5): - Great place to stay while visiting Fernie. The hosts had some excellent recommendations for food.
The suite was clean and comfy
- Simona (8/5): Bed & No Breakfast - The place was very spacious and clean. Great location, quiet surroundings.
We did look for a Bed &Breakfast, however a day prior to our check in we were informed that breakfast was no longer offered. I would definitely recomend adjusting the description of the add so it is not misleading. That was our biggest complaint about the place. Other things to consider would be the comfort of the bed. It was very hard. Little other things were missing hair dryer and ironing board, the things that you would normally find at the hotel. Temperature control was also somewhat misleading. The room had thermostats, however, the note from the owner the day prior to check in stated that only the owner had control of the thermostat and even though they did mention that they would be adjusting the temperature per request, i would have like to have our own temperature controls. Again, not a big deal, but it should have been included in the description, since we would have chosen different accommodation if we knew about it. We were informed about all of those things a day prior to our check in and a day after a full refund.
- Mylynn (10/5): - Loved this property! Easy to find, in a quiet area still close to downtown. Loved the sauna. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great little spot - Great space, well maintained. The sitting chairs aren't super comfortable, but its a minor concern. Would be nice to bring the breakfasts back, or just change the name.
- Luis (10/5): - We loved the stay at your B&B!
- JAMES (10/5): Beautiful View - Gorgeous room, the view was sensational, it was exactly what we were looking for.
- Bill (8/5): - Il liked the new moderrn furnishings large shower and upstairs location.
- Britainnie (10/5): - The only thing amiss is the sauna wasnt getting hot for us. Perhaps in keed of repair? Or user issues? I wasnt stressed enough to worry too much about it, but was a little disappointed after a 5 hours hike haha.
Everything else was great; view was stellar, room was spacious and confortable, quiet, only a 30 min walk from main Fernie.
Thanks for having us!
- Alison (10/5): - Loved our stay. Beautiful view from the room. We enjoyed sitting out on the chairs and having our morning coffee. Bed was comfy, and room was very spacious.
- Justin (8/5): - We stayed in Room 3. The view was great, it was quite spacious...perfect set up for a twosome.
- Brent (10/5): - Beautiful location in quiet neighborhood and nice room.
- Carson (10/5): - The room I stayed in was lovely, and quiet, the aesthetic was gorgeous aswell. The owners were very nice, we had an incident checking in and they were quick to help us. The house is beautiful along with the rest of the neighborhood. 10/10
- Roberta (4/5): - The bed and pillows smelled moldy. Also, the wood platform that the matress is on creaks loudly when someone rolls over, woke me up throughout the night even while using ear plugs. The owners response was: "I’ve heard from a couple of people over the years that the creaking gets to them, and I would have been more than happy to bring you different sheets last night." The owner knew about the problem with the bed platform for years and has not fixed it! I was very tired when I got into bed and noticed the smell so didn't call. I was not sure if it was the sheets or if it was the pillows and mattress that the odor was coming from. Travelers expect a bed free from odors and loud noises, that was not the case.
- Martyn (10/5): A great stay close to downtown Fernie - A great place to stay – beautifully designed room, comfy bed, and a short drive to downtown Fernie. I loved staying here and will 100% be back soon!
- Samantha (10/5): - Absolutely perfect stay with incredible views of the mountains. The property is immaculate and the surrounding area really makes you feel like you’re treating yourself to a luxury stay. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. It felt brand new. Truly a 5 star accommodation. Thank you for having us and we hope to be back soon!
- Beanie (10/5): - Was very cozy and had a lovely view in the mornings looking at the mountains. Host responded promptly and was helpful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good potential - The surrounding area is very nice. The room itself was contemporary and spacious with a great shower and vanity area. The table only had one chair when two would be expected. The bed was very disappointing. The mattress was most uncomfortable and the bed frame was noisy. The pillows were lumpy. It was clean.
- Peter (8/5): - fix lighting in bathroom shower and toilet area and would be nice to round out the edges of the bedframe. Bruised ankles are annoying.
- mike (8/5): - beautiful place. perfect view. The bed could be quieter and more comfortable. but not a big issue.
- Victoria (10/5): - Stunningly well decorated and designed. Well positioned for walks.
- Heather (10/5): - Overall I loved this B&B. Very nice touches.
However, I would recommend bigger ice cube trays.
- Melanie (10/5): - Blackstone B & B was perfect for a couple's getaway!
- Myron (10/5): - The property was in a quiet residential neighborhood with a deck and view of the mountains. The host gave excellent directions as well as suggestions for dining in Fernie.
- Mary (8/5): - Spacious and comfortable room.
- Lois I (10/5): - It is a gorgeous relaxing place to stay. The views are incredibly beautiful, the place is clean and comfy& just awesome! Just watch the corners of the bed..... they are sharp! I did wish for a microwave so that i could heat up leftovers.
I'd definitely stay here again.
- Terry (10/5): - Nidhi was very wonderful and helpful staff member. It was a masterfully handled rental transaction with no issues whatsoever.
- Candace (10/5): - A beautiful space for a visit to Fernie.
- Nara (6/5): - Pros: Owner was very helpful, responsive, and friendly (all by email/text). Views are lovely and outdoor patio was a nice reprieve in the evening. Place was clean and new/modern. Lovely bathroom and nice shower. Bed was fine for us - firm as some mention, but not uncomfortable for us.
Cons: We had the top unit which is a king suite, bachelor style. The “living room” area had two outdoor plastic chairs in it, a love seat or small couch would be much more comfy for relaxing. We ended up just sitting on the bed. Also the A/C is controlled centrally by the owner and they won’t run it at night - so if you visit like we did during a heatwave it’s a hot sleep at night even with the two openable windows fully open. Worst thing about this place was we booked it purposely to “get away from it all” and be in a quieter place, but with all the house and road construction happening next door and a block down, be aware that for the next few months (summer/fall 2024) it will be very noisy all day on weekdays starting bright and early 7:30am! We woke up the first morning to saws, hammers, nailguns, dump truck unloading gravel, etc and it didn’t stop. Not the owners fault, but I do think it needs to be mentioned on the website until it’s over and done with otherwise you’ll book under false assumptions of peace and quiet.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Very nice B&B, located just up the hill from town in a nice new development, very picturesque views and clean modern interior
- David (10/5): - Easy....Quiet
- Chelsea (6/5): - Room was 24 degrees, host would not return calls and only would text. Would not go back.
- Chad (8/5): - Great place A
- Märt (10/5): - Such a beautiful scenery!
- Azra (10/5): - My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Blackstone B&B! The hosts were very quick to answer our questions are resolve any minor issues that came up. We took advantage of the sauna and it was awesome! The room was huge, very clean, had great lighting, lots of tv options and had incredible views. We highly recommend staying at Blackstone B&B!
- R. (8/5): - Our experience was good. The hosts both very helpful. The unit is brand new & trendy decorating. There could be more amenities… like Kleenex, a waste basket in bathroom, a corner in the shower to hold your shampoo etc. we could not get coffee pot to work or TV without help.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Exactly as Advertised. Felt safe and at home. Easy to find.
- Ashleigh (10/5): - Was excellent. We will be back forsure!!!
- olexa (10/5): - Fantastic property in a fantastic neighborhood, with the very best views! Really, really nice play to stay. We loved it. The host was great! Thanks!
- Mary (10/5): - Great place to stay - hosts were extremely accommodating on many fronts!
- Niall de (10/5): - Great place to stay in Fernie, nicely decorated, close to downtown
- Tracey (10/5): - Great stay. Loved Fernie, BC
- Glory (10/5): - We just had an amazing stay at Blackstone. Everything you could possibly want. Clean, gorgeous, close to town and incredible attention to detail.
- Heidi (10/5): - A lovely little getaway placed in a very beautiful location in Fernie. It was the perfect spot to spend the night, and we only wished we could have had more time there!
- Hannah (8/5): - The place is tastefully done and gives a rustic feel. Simple and elegant.
However, there are a few things that I did not like. First is that the sign of "Blackstone B&B" is not very visible. These days pretty much everyone uses google maps and the map doesn't always give exactly which side of the place is the entrance. In this case, the entrance to the B&B is actually on Sunniva Dr and not on Piedmont Dr (the house is at the corner of Peidmont and Sunniva). If there's another sign on Piedmont Dr, it would help a lot, especially if the lighting isn't well.
The keypad to the room is awful. It's so sensitive that where ever I touch to activate the keypad is the first number keyed so I kept entering the wrong code because I didn't realize the first code was already entered. I also did not know that I had to enter the number again to lock the door. Might be helpful to have a small sign by the door to remind guest to do that.
It's also super annoying that it's such a nice place and yet there is no rack or some sort to put the shampoo/conditioner. I have to bend down to get to the shampoo.
It would also be nice to have a box of tissue paper in the room. I haven't been to a hotel or resort that doesn't have that.
Also a note to those who does not have a car, as it's a 2.2 km walk to the town area for dinner/food. Fine for the summer but probably not great in the winter? There's also limited taxi service so you should plan ahead in your time.
Otherwise the place is great!
- Eri Ratnawati (10/5): - The room is nice, clean & spacious. It’s relatively quiet despite the patio is close to the neighbour’s house. The property is just minutes away from the town center, so convenient.
- Peter (6/5): - The place was beautiful. Gorgeous views from a very clean well-maintained suite. The downsides were the bed was as hard as sleeping on the floor. And the air conditioning was not running. When brought up to the owner, was told it had to be turned on from his end (even though you have a thermostat in the suite) and it still did not run. So very hard and hot sleep. If these two issues were addressed, I would give this place 5 stars.
- Deb K (10/5): - We really enjoyed this, but it needed a bit. The bed really creaked when getting in or out & was too close to the floor. No shelf in shower to hold anything. And no breakfast at the B&B
- Trevor (10/5): - Great location in a beautiful neighbourhood.
- Carol (10/5): - Great place t stay with beautiful views
- Alaina (10/5): - My husband and I were only in town for one night and this was a beautiful property. Very quiet and the views were amazing. The host made everything very easy even when we needed to switch payment methods. Our host recommended some places for dinner that were amazing. We will definitely revisit this property in the future
- Candace (10/5): - Beautiful space and location!
- Trish (10/5): - Very beautiful suite. Very happy to have a private suite. Gorgeous mountain view!
- Shelley (10/5): - Very clean and newer. Host was friendly and helpful , offered ideas for dinner. Beautiful view, cozy and comfortable
- anthony (10/5): - Great
- Alana (10/5): Tranquil & Breathtaking - Felt Like Home - The room was absolutely beautiful. It was modern and brand new with gorgeous decor. It truly felt like home and the quiet tranquility and breathtaking views of the mountains made it the perfect choice. I will note that no soap or soap bar was provided for the shower. I’m not sure if it was forgotten or just not provided but we had to go buy some. Just a heads up. A roll of paper towels would also be beneficial to wipe down the table if eating or drinking coffee. These are just small improvements or suggestions. We will 100% be back for the next trip.
- Elliot (8/5): Nice room, great location. - It’s a nice modern room in a quiet location just 20 minute walk from the town. Very pleased with the good recommendations and the owner was very quick to respond any requests and concerns.
- Robert (10/5): Bob and Dawn's Valentine stay - We traveled here from Rexford, MT for a Valentine date. The town is so charming and dinner was fabulous at the Fernie Cattle Company steak house. We stopped at the Fernie distillery and had great service with splendid drinks. The room was nice and modern. The view was awesome. The stay would have been much better with a upgraded and higher quality mattress. The coffee Kureg was nice but lack creamer. The location was great and the check in was seamless.
- R DE (10/5): Highly recommend - A cozy place to stay in Fernie, and I highly recommend it.
- Mark (10/5): - Very comfortable and quiet….lock box for entry host shared helpful info prior to check in
- Timothy (10/5): - Fantastic. Came to ski for a few days and this was just the place to stay. Clean, modern, very comfortable with a sauna to ease those aches and pains. The owners are super friendly and helpful (my car got stuck in a snowbank in their driveway and they got me out without even a hint that it caused them trouble. I will absolutely stay here again on my next trip out to beautiful BC!
- Elliot (10/5): - Great stay and super cool view from the room of the mountains. The hosts were wonderful, even helping me and my car out of a snowbank. Thank you!!
- Jon K. (10/5): Great stay in beautiful Fernie! - Everything was great. Really well appointed, love the design. Nice amenities, roomy. And gracious, helpful, and communicative host. Thanks! We will return.
- kourosh (10/5): - Beautiful property accommodation and view, very large room, it's about 3-4 years old but looks brand new.
- ryan (10/5): - Great little spot for a weekend getaway
- Allan (10/5): - Clean, quiet, comfortable, and good hospitality. I recommend it to anyone for any event. The place is in a beautiful area with a great view of the mountains.
- Seth (10/5): Go here - It's great! - Always responded promptly. Good info when I asked. Clean and comfortable. Good suggestions for dinner and breakfast; both the best we had on our whole trip. Would return here for sure!
- Agnieszka (10/5): - Great location, good place to stay for a weekend get away.
- Darrell (10/5): - First time staying at a B & “V” - Bed with a view.
Huge room and much nicer than your average hotel room.
Was dead quiet and nice and dark at night.
True that the beds are hard like the reviewers have said but really no different than the beds at most all inclusive resort We’ve stayed at in Mexico and the Caribbean.
We would definitely stay here again.
- Alessandra (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay however, our room was very warm. The units/home have AC but it’s controlled by the owners that live upstairs on site. We weren’t able to turn the temperature down in our room to cool it off for sleeping. We ended up having to open the windows and were woken up several times by the train. When we went to bed our room’s thermostat said 24 degrees and that the AC was ‘on’. This made it difficult to get a restful nights sleep.
- Rebecca (10/5): - The view was amazing. We loved sitting on the patio and listening to the fountain.
- Colin (10/5): - Great stay! Quiet, nice location and comfortable! Recommend!
- Michael (10/5): - Great place. Clean, spacious, nicely appointed. The only improvement would be to clearly mark the parking area for the guests upon arrival. Appreciated the reusable coffee pods and the coffee was excellent!
- Mark (8/5): - Very large room. Bed is excellent. Bathroom was great (though shower was not clean enough for my wife). Room is huge and would benefit from some more comfortable seating (perhaps a loveseat in front of the TV?). There is a small "kitchen" area but no real utensils- ie. there are wine glasses and new corkscrew; there is a small cafe table but nothing other than coffee/tea equipment and a single spoon. Property is walkable to downtown (about 2km). Owner was responsive and easy to contact.
- Gayle (10/5): - The view was amazing. We were able to leave our blinds open and see the mountains from our bed every morning.
- Robyn (10/5): - Beautiful property, very comfortable! Will return.
- Tara (10/5): Love it. - Most comfortable bed ever. Easy in. Easy out. Quiet and private.
- KEN (10/5): - Very modern decor. great bed.
- Paul (10/5): - Great size, decor and location
- Brian (6/5): My stay in fernie - Nice looking place with a comfy bed . Hot water kettle looked a bit rusted and dirty and no microwave or paper towel in the room which would have been convenient. Window in washroom had no blinds so a bit uncomfortable taking a shower when you can see other people in the house across the street. Easy self check in . Hosts sent emails to check in on us however the service was non existent when asked for fresh towels . Good rate for the stay however my next visit to fernie will probably be at a resort or hotel . Overall stay i would give 3/5
- Katherine (10/5): - Great property and friendly management. Only caveat, hot water could be higher temperature in shower.
- Mark (10/5): - Our room was large with a rustic-trendy ambience. Beautifully appointed in every way, comfy robes, great sheets and pillows.
Really appreciated the ski boot warmers. Owner was beyond accommodating and friendly. Private, keyless entry was a plus too. Very safe and quiet. We will return!
- Audrey (10/5): - Everything was excellent!
- Lorraine (10/5): - Great!
- Durwin (10/5): - This is a beautiful home about 3 minutes from the heart of Fernie. Beautiful mountain views. Suite was gorgeous and well equipped with a gorgeous washroom. Owners were very friendly and communicative. Even Netflix on the television. Perfect stay!!
- Ashley (10/5): - Great location, great patio views. Our host checked in with us everyday to make sure we had what we needed. Would def stay here again!
- Garrett (8/5): - Beautiful views and a lovely experience. Bryn was awesome and made sure we had everything we needed.
Bed was a little too hard for our liking.
- Jeremy (10/5): - Beautiful spot with an amazing view. Spacious and cozy. The owner took terrific are of us! We’ll be back! (Side note - this place is super close to an amazing disc golf course!!)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a cozy space perfect for our overnight getaway!
Would bring my own pillow next time but everything else was perfect!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great view from the room. Beautiful location, nice main floor patio with water fountain and garden.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet location, great room and view, easy parking and air conditioning.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was a beautiful property. So many unobstructed views of the mountains and very close to the down town strip.
