- ElizabethB5150 (10/5): Tranquility and Suree’s personal touch in the heart of historic Bangkok - If what draws you to Bangkok is the rich culture and history of Thailand, the incredibly tasty food conjured up in the smallest and simplest of kitchens, and a sense of curiosity about the everyday life of Thai people, then Rattanakosin is the ideal area for your stay. And if what you’re looking for in accommodation is a tranquil, comfortable and characterful home away from home, then Sourire, the labour of love of owner Suree, is just perfect. The garden area at the entrance and the spacious rooms with their dark wood floors, beautiful furnishings (no plastic, bling or glaring colours here) and powerful AC are havens of relief after a day out exploring the historic heart of the city - which you can easily reach on foot, as it’s all walkable distance from the hotel. The hotel kitchen provides a simple but good European style breakfast, but there are many other options in the area too, including home kitchen cooking where you pick your meal from pots of prepared foods. Be aware that construction is going on nearby on the extension of the Metro line; but this doesn’t affect your stay at all as what noise there is during the day is only very faint, and there is no noise at night at all. You’ll sleep very tranquility, perhaps hearing the call of the koel and other birds early in the morning. In addition, if you’re ever faced with a bit of a crisis, like we were when something accidentally got left behind, Su is a problem solver of note. Facilities: Each room has a small fridge and deluxe rooms have a kettle; bring your own coffee/ tea and hair dryer. Ironing board available downstairs.
- Sharon (8/5): Quiet room near Khao San Rd. - It is an older building. The hot water wasn’t at night, but was nice and hot in the morning. The lady at the front desk is very friendly and the location is perfect! It is also quiet when you want to end the night, which is really nice. The bathroom is quite small. I was happy that there was a very small balcony to hang our wet clothing after Songkran. I would stay here again but maybe opt for a more expensive room.

- 115ludovicaf (2/5): STAY AWAY!!! - The structure is totally different from the pics on Booking. The room was very dirty and in 3 days noone come to make it. We had only one small tower for all the stay. The owner is awful and mainly not collaborative. Even the run-down elevator was swithced off in the night. I would highly reccomend to stay away if you do not want to have a nightmare vacation.

The women who owns the place gives off grandma/loving aunt vibes. She's always caring and super-friendly, (just like her staff), and she makes excellent recommends about what to see and where to go. The cost USD to Baht is very affordable for a location so close to Khao San road. I would definitely book here again!
- LaurentCL2 (2/5): Be aware when booking through an online travel agency! - I booked a room with this hotel through an online travel agency in April for January 2025, and I received a confirmation email for the booking. Since then, I’ve tried to reach out several times via the same online platform, both in English and Thai, for some practical inquiries but never received any response. In August, I decided to finalize my trip to Thailand and contacted the hotel directly via email in Thai because I wanted to pay for the four nights. I was already suspicious since the hotel hadn't requested a deposit upfront, which is quite unusual for a Bangkok hotel. Once again, I received no reply. I then sent a message through a well-known instant messaging platform, and I could see that it was marked as “read.” It took them more than a week to finally respond. Their explanation was that there had been “an error in the system” with my reservation. Firstly, it's not the system that’s at fault, but rather the person managing it who made the mistake. When a hotel receives an online booking, it should be entered into their reservation software, which provides a second chance to spot any errors. Telling someone four months later that you can’t honor their reservation is unacceptable. They then offered me a “special price” if I booked directly with them: 1,200 baht (around €32.50). However, this wasn’t even for the room I originally booked, but a lower-category one. This was also more than double the amount I was initially supposed to pay. If you want to avoid any unpleasant surprises when you arrive in Bangkok—such as being told there was an "error in the system" when you check-in—I would advise booking elsewhere. My experience with them was frustrating and far from professional.

- Scott (6/5): - It's a very basic property in need of some updating. Some complaints: Only one towel and it was pretty old and had holes in it. Noisy hallway. No way to secure the door from inside the room. Somewhat isolated from central Rattanakosin Island by the large boulevard in front of the property. It is possible to cross the boulevard with a crosswalk. The owner was very nice and helpful regarding where to go and where to eat!

- Sophie (8/5): Best location - Nice place to stay, they have the ideal location to visit Bangkok. 10 minutes walk to Khao San, bus stop for many route 3 minutes walk, lots of restaurant etc. But it’s really quiet so you can have a good sleep. We arrived very late and there was someone waiting for us. The only thing is cleaning staff are noisy in the morning in the hallway and the shower flood the entire bathroom. But overall we enjoyed our stay and we would stay there again without hesitation.

- Brandy (10/5): - The place was a hidden sanctuary right in the middle of everything you want to see in the City. Su was very helpful in giving directions and options of what to do, even down to the day of the week. She made sure I didn’t miss the weekend market since I arrived on a Sunday and showed me how to do a self guided walking tour of the temples. I recommend taking tuk tuks even tho things are close, it’s cheaper and easier especially when it’s really hot. I highly recommend eating at the Family which is nearby and also a hidden gem! Everything was great I’ll stay there again on my way back out of Thailand at the end of this trip.

There was a safe - but no directions how to use it (I wasn’t going to use it anyway). For location - it’s great. Khoa San Rd is walking distance. Very safe area. The road it’s on may seem a little sketchy but it’s very safe. The hotel entrance is what sold me - the greenery and the atmosphere was great! Would definitely recommend.

Always there, always caring and super-friendly just like her staff. If you need tips on how to get somewhere or where to go just ask here. All in all a great base to explore Bangkok with Khaosan Rd just a 5 min walk away and several other must-sees in walking distance. PS don't miss out on that omlette for breakfast!!!!

- EKeeler1 (8/5): Lovely experience; would stay here again - We stayed here for a few days after arriving in Bangkok, and we really enjoyed it. The rooms are very basic, but clean and the air con kept us comfortable. The location is brilliant: close enough to walk to the Khao San Road (5-10 min), but far enough that you can't hear the noise. There's a 7-11 a few minutes away, which was quite useful for drinks and snacks. The hotel is a bit difficult to find for tuk tuk drivers, so we just told them to drop us off at Democracy Monument (there's a McDonald's there). The hotel is run by a lovely Thai woman who speaks English and French well. The only drawback is that I wish it had a swimming pool, just something small to dip into at the end of the day. Overall, we would stay here again when we next visit Bangkok.

- miroslavz554 (10/5): Super - This hotel and staff is an absolute oasis. I have been going to this hotel with my wife for 16 years. And I wouldn't change a thing. It's within walking distance to many major sites, but far enough off the beaten track to be a peaceful respite from the city. The accommodation was much better than what they charged. I usually choose a budget hotel because I'm not there that much when I travel. This was billed as a budget hotel but offered much more. The rooms were clean, the people were wonderful and very helpful, the breakfast was served at the table, tasty and plentiful. The plants and trees added a tropical atmosphere. I can't recommend this hotel more, except to say "don't book any day trips online - book them through this hotel", they were much cheaper here than online. When I come back to Bangkok, and I will, I will stay here and only here.- As a final note: The lovely owner Sourire, she speaks many languages so you can feel comfortable with her. Complained at reception and was told we would have to pay again for an upgrade.I tried to explain that I had already booked and paid for a superior room but to no avail.asked for my money to be returned but was refused.had no choice but to hand over more money. for the rest of our stay we were ignored and even the a/c was switched off in our room the morning we were leaving even though we had paid for the day

- rickbZ1241NG (8/5): Friendly and met our needs - We spent 3 nights. The location is on a quiet side street close to the democracy monument and not far from attractions. We walked or used the Grab app (recommended) to get around. Hotel staff were very helpful in providing information and recommendations. Our room was basic but met all our needs. The AC was effective and quiet. The shower had good water pressure and temperature control, but it leaked onto the tile floor. I had to duck to get under the shower head. No big deal. Shampoo and body wash were provided in pump containers, bring your own if you prefer bar soap. The 2 single beds were firm but comfortable. We returned to our room in the heat of the afternoon twice and the housekeeper hadn't got to us yet. She supplied fresh towels and water for the mini-fridge which was enough for us. Breakfast was a fruit plate, toast, tea or coffee, and eggs cooked to order with a strip of bacon. We tried scrambled and the omelet and both were good. The dining area is not air conditioned but it has fans. I tried to use the TV to watch an NFL playoff game but it didn't work. A very minor disappointment, we didn't come to Thailand to watch TV. - cornwall15 (8/5): A gem of a place - Myself, wife, and two relatives stayed here for 5 days recently and we're very pleased with the property. I strongly recommend it to Western travellers, and recommend to everyone else. We had a room for 4 adults. It was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was large. Hot water was plentiful and easy to regulate. There is a combo tub/shower. Guests are requested not to flush toilet paper. A room sink eased the morning bathroom crush. Bottled water was given daily. Beds were firm and comfortable. Linens were in good shape. Breakfast was included, Western style, not large but sufficient. The hotel is invisible from the street but is quite attractive inside. WiFi not usable on 4th floor despite attempted repairs. Location is good near Khaosan road. Very quiet at night. Tuk-tuks and taxi easily flagged down, water bus nearby. Excellent staff speaks decent english, all shifts. Loved the place!
- Reader03 (10/5): Clean, quiet, and great location - This hotel was exactly what we wanted for our three nights in Bangkok. The room was basic but it was large and very clean and the bed was firm but comfortable. We slept well--it was extremely quiet at night. A hot breakfast was provided every morning with fresh fruit, tea or coffee, toast, and a choice of eggs all served with a smile. The location is very convenient--close to Khao San Road and less than a thirty minute walk to the the temples. We would definitely stay here again if we ever return to Bangkok.

I had a couple of days in Bangkok before returning to Canada and wanted to visit the Grand Palace and a few other historic sights all within walking distance. Khaosan Road is only a few minutes away as well. The Sourire is small, even cozy. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was not opulent but more than enough for a short stay. I was too lazy to get up in time to take advantage of the free breakfast and my only wish would be for a kettle or coffee maker in the room. I arranged with the desk for a taxi to Suvarnibhum Airport for my early flight (600B) which got me there in good time. I’ll stay at the Sourire again.

- stephen (2/5): ugh! - we stayed in room 409, my advice to anyone who is staying or considering staying here is AVOID room 409 it was a dull and depressing room, low natural light, no outside view due to the window being coverd over, the couloir scheme of pink walls and ceiling dark woodwork was ugly and dirty scratched paintwork added to to dour flavour of the room, the bathroom area was so tiny thay i could barely get my leg between the wall and the front ent of the toilet bowl, and when using it i had to sit with my knees wide apart so as to fit in the space, the shower was a fixed head type, anyone over about 5’6” would need to stoop in order to wash thier shoulders and head, the hot water tap head came off twice due to the fixing screw missing and again the black and white tiling looked old and dated, the breakfast was dull and not very interesting at all, our room was only cleaned twice because we were in the room when they called, they never came back later, the staff were friendly though and the location of the hotel was good, but i would not recommend or use again

Was sehr gestört hat war, das uns verwehrt wurde etwas zu drucken. Die Begründung war nur das sie keinen Drucker haben? Schwache Leistung. Auch auf anfragen ob uns ein Taxi gerufen werden kann würde nur auf den Airporttransfer hingewiesen für 600 Bath. Eine Frechheit, ein normales Taxi kostet keine 400 inkl Trinkgeld. Also dürften wir uns eins aus dem Verkehr ziehen.... Vorzugeben war aber der ältere Herr an der Rezeption der uns ein frühes Frühstück ermöglicht hat :)

- Susanne (8/5): Sehr zentrales, angenehmes Hotel in der Altstadt - Wir hatten am Ende unseres Urlaubs 4 Tage Zeit in Bangkok, in denen wir möglichst viel von der Stadt und ihren Sehenswürdigkeiten sehen wollten. Dazu eignet sich das Hotel sehr gut als Ausgangspunkt. Der Palast mit Wat Phra Keo, das Nationalmuseum, Wat Po, Wat Arun, der Fluss und die Klonks mit den Ausflugsbooten sind in 15-20 Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar. Ebenso die Khao San Road mit ihren Shopping- und Street-Food-Angeboten, Restaurants und Bars. Chinatown ist absolut sehenswert, dauert zu Fuß etwa 30 Minuten. Das Hotel liegt in einer gepflegten, sicheren Gegend, verkehrsmäßig gut erschlossen durch öffentliche Busse, Taxis und Tuk-Tuks. Das abwechslungsreiche, wenngleich nicht allzu üppige Frühstück wird am Tisch serviert.

Very close to all of the major sites but also very quiet and peaceful.

- v35together (8/5): 便利・快適・お得 - 建物は若干古いですか、清潔にされており、スタッフの対応もすばらしかったです。 まずはロケーションから。 エアポートリンクの終点（パヤタイ駅）からタクシーで70bで事前にこのホテルの地図をプリントアウトして提示した方がスムーズです。（バンコクでタクシーを使うのであれば地図か、住所をタイ語で書いたものが無いと難しいです）カオサン通りまで徒歩10分、エメラルド寺院まで徒歩20分、サイアムスクエア周辺にはセンブー運の終点バンファまで徒歩で10分でセンブー運河の船に乗り終点プラトーナムまでスイスイ20分で行けます。（プラトーナム周辺は若者が集まるショピング街です） 航空機が遅れ、チェックインが0:00をまわりそうだったので、ディレイのメールをすると返信が直ぐあり、お気をつけてのメッセージと地図の添付ファイルがありました。 実際にはチェックインが0:30時頃でしたが快く迎えてくれました。 ホテルの人と一緒に部屋の説明の為に部屋へ‥wi-hiの説明、エアコン、冷蔵庫には水とペプシコーラがフリーですと‥ 部屋には普通に鍵を使って入ります。 部屋はシンプルでスッキリしておりベッドは高めですが普通です。 日本のホテルのアメニティーと部屋内の付帯設備の違いは、浴衣、歯ブラシ、髭剃り、ポット、ティッシュ、スリッパがありません。 セキュリティボックスはあります。 ベッドの感覚、枕の高さが私的にはピッタリで朝までぐっすり寝る事が出来ました。 朝食は1階フロント前のフロアでいい音の音楽を聴きならが、係の人が順にフルーツ3種、コーヒーまたは紅茶、パン、卵料理（4種類からチョイス）を持ってきて、普通に美味しくいただきました。（フルーツは3種の内一つが毎日変わります、また、テーブル上の調味料に醤油がありました） お客にアジア系外国人は少なかったです。（滞在中日本人とは会いませんでした） ネットワークはwi-hiがストレスなく無料で使えます。 帰りは夜のフライトだったのでチェックアウト後荷物を預かってもらいました。 そこそこいいホテルを利用している人にとってはイマイチと感じるかもしれませんが、便利でコストパフォーマンスが高いホテルでした。

- Heidi (8/5): Een superplek op een toplocatie in Bangkok. - Ik voelde me hier direct thuis. Het hotel is zeer sfeervol, personeel is fantastisch, kamers zijn schoon, hete douche, kortom perfect. Zeer goede locatie in het centrum van Bangkok. Dichtbij allerlei bezienswaardigheden. Kao San Road is slechts 5 minuten lopen. Ik was met mijn zoontje van 1,5. De kamer was keurig voorzien van een net ledikantje. Ontbijt was inbegrepen en was prima. Watermeloen, ananas, banaaan en toast met beleg en ei. Voor de prijs echt heel erg goed.

Nosotros fuimos en taxi y llovía mucho, eso es cierto, pero estuvimos 20 minutos dando vueltas con el taxi para encontrarlo. Llevábamos el precio del taxi cerrado, no nos dio vueltas para sacarnos la pasta, es porque no es nada fácil de encontrar. Cuando llegas, tanto el hotel como la habitación tiene más pinta de hostal que de hotel, si lo comparas con hoteles españoles. Reservamos una habitación superior, no la básica. Al entrar nos sentimos un poco decepcionados, pero tengo que decir que tanto la cama como las almohadas eran cómodas y pudimos descansar muy bien, que al final es de lo que se trata. Además no hay mucho ruido, precisamente porque está bastante escondido y no se oyen los coches. La habitación tenía bañera y neverita. Te dan agua y té gratis. Era relativamente espaciosa. Básicamente es un sitio cómodo pero antiguo y con pinta de hostal.

Our double room with a view of the courtyard! we had a view into flats opposite, looking directly into there rooms, some 5 mtrs away from us. Black out blinds and curtains! No, just a thin net at window and door looking out to belcony, just big enough for one person to stand! No privicy, especially at night. toilet ect, very small, need to airside ways on toilet, due to only 1 ft from wall! Air conditioning, very noisy! had to request they look at and they did make it a little quieter. We were woken each morning at about 6.30 am with music from the Breakfast room and noisy staff. We requested a quiet room when we booked with a view, good job we did or who knows what room we might have received! Breakfast, well I was very disappointed. no choice other that egg choice. First you get a little fruit brought to you table, no choices, but very little cube's. then you have to choose either tea, coffee or fruit juice, not all, only one! then toast arrives, again no choice, just toasted bread. think plain bread should be offered! Then comes the eggs x 2 poached, fryed or a tomato and onion omlet. Think this hotel needs to update rooms and offer a fuller breakfast choice. I would rate this hotel as a 1-2 Star hotel only.

The old-fashioned furniture and lace curtains might be called charming - they reminded me of eastern Europe 20 years ago. The toilet didn't have a good odor. Anyone with long legs wouldn't be able to sit on it because it's so close to the wall it faces. Wifi was good. Downstairs lobby and garden were nice. The alley you walk down to Democracy Monument was creepy and smelled like urine at night. I read reviews saying the bigger rooms are great, so maybe book one of those. There are many better places for the price in Bangkok.

- Tanya (6/5): Ok, but... - Booked a superior (basic) room, which turned out to be small with a bathroom you could barely turn around in nothing like the photos. It was also not very clean and unkempt - handles missing from bedside cabinet, no safe in the room, when we asked for one a small safe was brought in and placed in cupboard. Had we not already paid in advance for the room, we would have left. As it was we decided to upgrade to a deluxe room, which was slightly better, however we had to pay nearly full rate to do this (50B) per night discount. Although the bathroom was bigger, the shower curtain was torn, handles missing from furniture, the towels had seen better days and the shower tiles were water stained for the whole four day stay. The good points - the bedding was clean and the bed comfortable. The breakfast was good and the staff are friendly and helpful. Overall I suppose you get what you pay for, this is an older hotel in a rundown area that could do with a spruce up. If you are on a budget it would be ok, but there are better hotels available in Bangkok for a similar price.

If you're looking for a safe, friendly comfortable play to lay your head at night I do not hesitate to recommend this hotel
- Emma (10/5): Really lovely staff and well located, clean rooms - We really enjoyed our stay here. When we arrived, our bags had been lost and the staff were amazing at finding us some food and directing us to where we could find some supplies. The room was spacious and the temperature nice and cool in the summer heat. Bathroom really clean and we had no problem with wifi or outside noise. Would happily return!
- Verified traveler (4/5): I would not recommend - Difficult to find at first. It isn't walking distance to anything, not even food so a taxi is required to get any where...not many taxis want to give you a ride, they are just passing through but not interested in transporting. Didn't see tourist and I felt unsafe walking the surroundings area. This lead to me leaving after the second day to a different hotel. The rooms are small and the bathroom is the smallest I have ever seen. When you sit on the toilet your knees touch the wall (im a 98lb female - can't imagine someone bigger sitting there). Also, elevators don't work. So be ready to drag your bags up and down the stairs. The staff was very friendly and helpful but it was just an inconvenient stay.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Couldn't do better. Great place! - Great hotel. I was worried about the breakfast reviews because I don't eat eggs, but my fears were unwarranted. You get fruit, toast, bacon even.... you don't have to have the eggs! That said it is the same every day. Nevertheless, I have no regrets about theis hotel and strongly recommend family travellers on a budget to give this serious consideration. It's very central and you can walk to the main historic and cultural sights easily. The democracy monument is a hub for taxi and tuk tuk travel so you can easily get further afield. Great hotel and great people... very friendly. It is a little hidden though. Take a map to show the taxi driver!
- michael (8/5): 2 night stay in Bangkok - Had a great stay at sourire the hotel was clean tidy and comfortable. All the staff were very helpfull and polite I would stay there again. The only thing I did not like was we had an early flight and arrived at 7 o'clock but could not check in till 2 o'clock .
