David (8/5): Good traditional hotel - I had a good overnight stay here. The receptionist was very friendly and welcoming. Spacious room with a comfortable bed. Room temperature was just right, shower had a good flow and was nice and warm. Breakfast room was a lovely old fashioned space. Fried bread, not toast with the cooked breakfast, wonderful 👍 Allocated table, not sit anywhere, which brings back holiday memories from the past. It's not a modern chain hotel, so some things are a little quirky, and nothing wrong with that! Only problem was that the lift had gone wrong just before my stay, but not an issue for me..

Mark (1/5): Dreadful. I'll definitely avoid this one in future. - The breakfast in the morning was OK. The bed was comfortable, the room was a good size and it was clean. The staff were unhelpful and unwelcoming. We'd arrived after a long car journey to be met by a jibe when my partner couldn't remember the car number plate. Also, we were told that we were too late for dinner (we arrived circa 8.30pm) and the receptionist recommended we go to Minehead high street but gave little direction or where we should eat. When we got to the pub by the quayside/pier we found they stopped serving meals at 8.30pm!! When we returned to our room (circa 10pm) we found no hot water in the shower (fortunately the shower was working in the morning). The hotel information suggested there was an issue with hot water after 11pm (which I believe we should have known about in advance given there is an on-going problem) but this was earlier, so we shouldn't have had the problem. When I mentioned this to the receptionist in the morning there was no apology just a simple response -they'd look at this later. Having already made my views known to the receptionist re poor experience, it was rather strange/disingenuous to ask "how was my stay" when checking out, When I gave her a full list of the issues, she offered no apology, and no offer of a discount indeed she hardly registered it, it was like she was on autopilot. The final straw was the printer wasn't working properly so I couldn't get a hard copy of the invoice. Very poor.

The same young lady who served us both at breakfast and dinner was both friendly, respectful, efficient and made us very welcome. The fact that we came for only one night.

Margaret (8/5): Beautiful hotel in excellent position. - Room larger than anticipated and furnished with comfortable chairs. I had requested the room for 14.00 so I was surprised on arrival to be told not ready until 15.00 but within 15 mins we were in. Breakfast was listed as from 8.30. We arrived at 9.00 only to find that the orange juice was nearly out (I tipped the container to fill two glasses) and my bacon had definitely been around a while. I presume these difficulties were due to a large party dining before us.

You were able to order what you wanted from the hot breakfast rather than having a full English. The room was a little out dated, but was clean. The only problem was that the room was next to a boiler or generator that kicked in at 6:00 am - which made it difficult to sleep.

Breakfast was delicious and the location near the beach was perfect. I stayed for 4 nights for a work trip and I would definitely stay here again. The pool and leisure facilities were a lovely bonus as well, especially at somewhere so reasonably priced! Nothing in particular.

Generally clean although some mold in the bath mouldings and peeling paint on bathroom ceiling. The food quality is very low, more like that which is served in a care home, microwaved veg, soggy roast potatoes and small portions. Only 4 options for each course. Lamb was pink when served which is lovely but the meat was so so hot it must also have been microwaved, the potatoes seemed like leftover from the day before also. This obviously works for the clientele they seemed to have in, but it certainly did not meet expectations when spending £60 on a meal.

Five minutes walk from the seafront and ten minutes walk from the high street, it is perfectly situated for exploring Minehead The building itself is beautiful with high ceilings and original features so it really feels luxurious, and we had a beautiful view over the gardens. All this plus free parking, excellent service and a leisure club with steam room and pool, it far exceeded our expectations. We couldn't fault anything but we didn't use the bar or restaurant so can't comment on those.

shirley (10/5): - Lovely hotel, very clean, friendly staff,good breakfast. It was nice to have the pool, jacuzzi and steam room to use.
Maud (10/5): Beautiful place and view - The location is amazing ! You have a beautiful view and you can go to nice hikes from the hotel ! I loved the old vibe of the place ! The staff was also very nice ! I didn’t water on day during the day to take a shower
Elizabeth (9/5): Valentine's weekend birthday breakaway. - Practically everything! We had a very pleasant stay. All the staff were helpful, accommodating and friendly. We thought the dinner and breakfast were excellent value, very tasty.and nicely presented. At dinner a few more vegetables would have been nice but that's just personal preference. But compliments to the chef on duty! We were very happy to be upgraded with a sea view as it was my daughter's birthday the day before and we were unable to celebrate because of a wedding. All in all, we had a lovely mini break and would gladly recommend it to others and maybe return another time. Very little. The only thing I found was the furniture in the bedroom was a little too low for my comfort and the bed not quite firm enough but that's probably because I'm noticing these things now with age. The heated pool could have been a little bit warmer but again that's my personal preference. I did not go into the pool but sat in the sauna and unfortunately I reacted to something possibly in the steam spray. (I suddenly had a very itchy rash that night and the following day but recovered well with a couple of showers. No harm done there.
