Guest Reviews
- mohanraj (3/5): We got breathing issue because of more.Location and food was good. Room was not neat. Full of dust. - Good Room was dust
- Christina (9/5): Would stay here again. Thank you. - Perfect stay No answer
- June (4/5): Would not stay here again. - never went there. Going to another hotel was the choice for the breakfast option. The cleaning of the bathroom was terrible. Toilet ran unless the handle was adjusted after every use. The sink drain plug was covered n mold and the bathroom ceiling fan was filthy. The whole room smelled moldy.
- Vandan (3/5): - Good Location, Great view of the lake from the property, decent size room, relatively clean Smelly Carpet, Spiders in the room, bathroom and trash/towel removal was lacking on one of the days
- Kari (7/5): It was great for a last minute change in plans. - Breakfast was excellent tasting. Wishes the time frame was longer than 2 hours. The fan in our bathroom was super loud. Couldn't turn light on without waking everyone up.
- David (8/5): - Great breakfast and the beds were extra comfortable.
- NICOLE (1/5): I didn't even get to enjoy my stay. Worst hotel I have booked at in the area. - Everything about this hotel, and their customer service was terrible. There is nothing good I can even say about this place. Customer service was terrible. All they care about is making money.
- Amy (4/5): 2 nights - Convenient location
The two young front office staff were very nice and helpful. The pool area was not updated and looked dirty.
The sink in the room was leaking and when I called the front desk, she said someone would come check it out, but no one did while we were there.
The room was not cleaned during our stay, only dropped off new towels.
Also the beach in the back was dirty. Trash all over it.
You also have to go next door to the other hotel for the breakfast that is from 7-9am only. That’s not long enough.
Will not recommend this hotel.
- Julie (10/5): Great stay walking to everything - The view was amazing rooms were very clean and spacious. Staff was nice and welcoming More parking
- angela (8/5): Relaxing, quiet, peaceful - We liked the location. Having a balcony was wonderful. The walk to the pool. When its cold and you're wet, not good.
Breakfast was a bit of a challenge to find. Signage would be nice as we didn't see any.
Our rooms smelled kind of funny. There was something between the bed and nightstand, some sort of liquid.
- Burrell (7/5): - Good.
- Janina (8/5): -
- Koni (10/5): - Clean, comfortable, good amenities
- Matthew (10/5): - Property was a very good value. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, but not great. For the price. This property is awesome. Just dont expect too much. The price matches the quality.
- Tom (3/5): Worst breakfast bar experience - On the beach. Smelled like mold
- Theodore (10/5): - Great location right on the beach. Walking distance to Sheplers.
- enrique (4/5): - The room was what I would expect from a 2 star hotel and that is not my problem. The staff were not friendly even down right nasty and uninformative. Almost mad that you asked a question, this based on my responses and what I witness with other guests. The breakfast is in another hotel and she did inform me of that. I walked all around the hotel ending with the lobby, no breakfast. I go and ask her about it and her response did you go to the 3rd floor. No I wasn't told that. We just left and ate somewhere else. Not worth the aggravation. Plenty of other places to stay.
- Hackney (7/5): - Could walk to many things Walk to another building for breakfast
But breakfast was very good
- Ray (10/5): - Great all the way around and close to everything
- Barbara (10/5): - Convenient, beautiful view, nice breakfast
- Diana (6/5): - The bed was the most comfortable of any hitel we havw stayed out. However, our room had a weird smell that we could not place, there was no wash clothes in our room and it was attached to another hotel that you had to go to for breakfast or to return your key card. Our bathroom door also did not unlock so if you shut it when no one was in there it took some time to get it back up. The fan in the bathroom was loud.
- Susan (10/5): - The front desk staff was exceptional. We came in late and he was cordial and friendly. Bery clean rooms, great view. Will definately be back.
- Thomas (7/5): -
- ASAPNorthCarolina (2/5): SO BAD I''VE REPORTED THEM TO CORPORATE - I would do less than 1 if I could. If this lets you know how bad it is, I've reported them to the CEO of Comfort Inns (the hotels are owned by Lieghio’s Hamilton Inn Select, Inc. who is currently being investigated by the Michigan AG for deceptive praactices. I'm also reporting them to the BBB in Mackinaw City. DO NOT BOOK!!!!!
- Jane (10/5): - Cute
Quaint
Clean
Super friendly and helpful check in host
- William K. (10/5): - Excellent place to stay. Great hot breakfast
- Doug (1/5): Worst place ever, rudest staff, avoid it! - The staff was so rude about everything, we have never been treated so badly at any place we’ve stayed. Breakfast was inedible, horrible, broken cereal dispensers, juice containers empty, eggs burnt, dried clumps, ham was rubbery! Towels had brown stains and not sure what that was, disgusting!
- Tammi (10/5): Great stay. - Staff was friendly and efficient. Room was clean. Hot tub was wonderful after walking The Mackinaw Bridge. N/A
- bruce (7/5): It was ok - Close to downtown. Using the elevator from the next door motel to access our room
- Joanne (10/5): - The young man that cleaned our room was very nice and our room was excellent.
- Craig (4/5): - Tired property, room did not have lake view and was very dark. Breakfast is on the 3rd floor of a nearby hotel. Needs a refresh.
- Sherry (8/5): - Good location, friendly and helpful staff Strong cleaning product smell that was unpleasant.
- D8585MZamberb (2/5): Horrific - Absolutely disgusting. This establishment is so beyond run down and uncared for. Booked a room for $227 walked into room and there were large cobwebs in every corner. A white substance all over the carpet and puke stains on each bed. Took pictures and videos and showed the lady at the front desk. She was beyond rude but did switch my room to a room that was in similar conditions. Had I not traveled over 350miles and not been driving all day with my 3children I would have left the second room and hotel completely. Wasn’t safe for me to drive as exhausted as I was. For this hotel to be in such a great beautiful spot it sure was horrific. The pool was freezing and slimy. Out door hallways and overhangs covered in spiderwebs and dirt. Breakfast was cold and stale. Customer service doesn’t exist in this hotel. I’d advise to never stay here
- cherry (4/5): - The room we got looks like it hasn’t been occupied in a long time and never been cleaned again since. Corners are dirty, carpet is dusty and has a musty smell.
- Z7550RIkellyd (4/5): Terrible - The rooms are outdated but seem somewhat clean. Coffee maker was gross. Breakfast was terrible. I’m not a picky eater but even I had to pass on breakfast. Hamilton inn actually hosts the breakfast in their hotel so you walk over there. The hotel front desk workers are rude/ not friendly. I actually did not encounter 1 friendly worker at this hotel. It is on a nice beach and a short walk to downtown area.
- Christopher (2/5): - Older motel that isn’t cared for. No house keeping! When I asked about the room not being cleaned, was told “we don’t do that anymore more.” Breakfast was bad in every way. Skip it .Nothing good to say.
- Marcia (8/5): - Close to events
- RR_Mville (4/5): Hazardous and inconvenient - No grab bars for shower.
One working USB port.
Sporadic housekeeping.
Pealing wallpaper in shower.
Very difficult to review on their site and app if your room was booked with a tour company.
- Lyz (10/5): - Property on the water was great to see the fireworks show for the 4th of July.
Breakfast was in another building up the stairs, and it had poor air conditioning. Apart from that all was good.
- Tim (10/5): - Beach front was awesome.
- Robert (6/5): - We had a good night's rest and the staff were pleasant. The curtains were too long and covered up the AC unit. There was a floor tile missing in the bathroom.
- Noreen (10/5): -
- Pam (10/5): - very nice
- Laurie (6/5): - The water temperature in the shower rotated between freezing cold and scalding hot. It could not be regulated.
The sink faucet was very hard to turn off.
The room definitely needs updated, if not, then a good cleaning.
- Kerry (6/5): - Room smelled
- Michelle (10/5): - The staff was helpful and polite. The foom was clean and cozy!
- Laura (4/5): - The instant I walked into the room I was disappointed. I was overwhelmed by a musty smell. It was obvious that the cleaning that had been done is bare minimum. It was very grimy. The pool was very hazy as well. There was continental breakfast but we had to go next door to another hotel to get it.
- Hesham (6/5): - Definitely not the lap of luxury. And room and bathroom were clean as far as I could tell. Just needed a place to rest my head and it fit the bill. Still too expensive for the amenities offered.
- Elena (6/5): - Property needs maintenance. Carpets in room and hallways needed cleaning.
- Partin (8/5): - Not too impressed with breakfast, quite a walk from the room! Location of breakfast and items served!
- Jillian (10/5): Great spot - Great value. Great spot, easy and walking distance from town. Decent beds and pillows. Staff was friendly, efficient, and virtually unseen.
- SALAM (10/5): -
- Derek (8/5): Nice hotel in Mackinaw City - Outstanding location with comfortable beds, ok breakfast, and ok service.
- KAREN (10/5): - Everything was perfect. Come check out to when we left. I would say it’s easily one of the better hotels I’ve stayed in at this price point. The property is right on par.
- Amy (10/5): - For the most part staff was excellent. Room was decent. Coffee maker in our room was faulty. Had to hold cord just right or it didn't work. Coffee was tasteless like tea. The rest of our stay was fine other than
ignorant guests. Left a day early because I couldn't enjoy my balcony (that you pay extra for) because of the ignorance of other guests. Throwing rocks at birds and our balcony (ground floor). My 84 year old mother was uncomfortable. I do understand it's not the motels fault but no matter what we said the father wouldn't stop them, he actually encouraged the 2 teenage girls. Shouldn't always rate the staff, something needs to be done about ignorant guests!!
- Melissa (6/5): - I wasn’t sure what to expect after reading some of the reviews but our stay here was pretty good. I booked this hotel because of the location, we liked that we could walk pretty much anywhere we needed to go. I liked having a balcony and being on the water. The room was pretty clean but could probably use new carpet or a deep cleaning. The toilet seat was cracked but we were out and about for most of our stay so it didn’t bother us.
- Nicole (10/5): - Nice stay in Mackinac. Walking distance to shopping, restaurants and the ferry to the island.
- Laura (4/5): - We stayed for 3 nights at this property with a large group and reserved two separate rooms. Our stay was “fine” the rooms were generally clean, albeit dated as mentioned in other reviews.
This property, is in pretty rough shape. We had torrential rain while we were there and the gutters were all overflowing signaling a drainage problem. This was later confirmed when water came into one of the rooms that we were staying in. The front desk staff quickly dispatched the handyman to fix the ceiling and tried to get us to keep the same room which we refused. Clearly the water problem would not be fixed with a patch on the ceiling, and we did not want to risk getting hurt when the “fix” got wet again.
The front desk staff was not apologetic for the situation, in fact they were upset that we asked to switch rooms and had a pretty bad attitude about the whole situation.
Overall, if you’re looking for a conveniently located place to lay your head, this place may suffice, but I personally won’t be staying here again.
- Yue (10/5): Amazing work - I really enjoyed the view it was amazing, I also liked how it was quiet and very clean.
- Ann (4/5): - This property and rooms need maintenance. In our room the tv did not work well, a lightbulb was out over the bathroom vanity, the peephole in the door was stuffed with paper, there was no microwave, and so on. The lake area needed cleaning, raking, removal of some large rocks. The rooms were noisy - kids running in the halls, plumbing from neighboring rooms and voices were easily heard. And guests in another room were feeding the gulls, which was noisy and dirty.
- Jill (10/5): - This is our fourth year staying at this property, and it never disappoints. The staff are outstanding—always going above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The rooms are clean and comfortably sized, and the location is perfect, with the added bonus of having the beach just steps from the door.
- Yvette (8/5): - The room was nice with a lovely little balcony that overlooked the lake. Reasonably priced with lots of dining and shopping options within walking distance. The one area needing improvement was the breakfast which was mediocre at best. The eggs were awful! Absolutely no flavor and the pancakes were tough.
- Emma (4/5): Spend the money to stay somewhere better - Location was nicely located in the city. Bumps was good The room smelled very musty with lots of bugs. They placed us on the ground floor with a window that faced an indoor wall.
- Molly (3/5): Poor -
- Jim (6/5): - The rooms need updating, the interior needs a makeover, would not stay again
- MaryAnne (6/5): -
- Jackee (10/5): - Everything was good
- Beverly (10/5): - Great balcony viewing of Lk Superior. We will be back!
- F7112QDjayw (2/5): Horrible - Absolute trash. One star is given because zero or negatives are not an option. Staff lies and gives false manager contact information. Corporate does not help when you contact Choice Hotels (1.6 rating and now see why). Bugs and trash everywhere. Linens sitting in bins with bugs and linen sitting outside under running water where trash bins typically sit. Dated and smelly rooms, humidity built up in glass blocking view, bird feces all over deck, thousands of bugs all around community, smashed bugs on back of doors. Plenty of other options nearby - avoid this place at all costs. They are clearly desperate for guests - keep driving!
- Rachel (6/5): Family trip - Our stay was okay. Nothing special but was a place to sleep. Needs updating.
- Margaret (2/5): To much money for the room it was. - It was available when we needed a room.
Didn’t read the reviews before we booked The smell in the room was bad! Very damp and musty smelling!
- Torres (5/5): Passable - Front desk staff was very kind and when we had an issue with the TV the maintenance man came promptly and fixed the issue. Room was dusty and not up to standard. The beach area was also dirty with cigaret butts around the picnic tables. The hall to get out to the beach area was filthy and covered in sand... didn't seem to be swept during our stay.
- Ashley (6/5): Good price and location but wouldn’t recommend the breakfast. - The hotel was close to everything in mackinaw city, the location was great. The price was good for a last minute stay after we got rained out camping in the UP. The bed was very comfortable and check in was super fast.it. The lady at the front desk wasn’t very friendly and didn’t give us much information. She didn’t inform us about breakfast and when we asked about it she gave us short answers and wasn’t very helpful. The breakfast was in another building and not good at all, we ended up leaving without eating anything and went to a local restaurant. The room was a little dated but wasn’t too bad.
- Brenda (9/5): Superb -
- laura (6/5): - Would have liked a shelf in bath room with towels
- Addison (8/5): Very good -
- Devon (6/5): - -
- Jamie (5/5): Mediocre hotel very short window for breakfast.over priced fo the value bed was super hard and pillows were a weird siz - Proximity to the ferry Outdated rooms. Not worth the cost especially mid week.
- Marsha (8/5): Good time had by all. - Staff was excellent. Breakfast area a little difficult to find.
- Ericka (6/5): - The building was in disrepair. Needed a good deep cleaning
- Mzkim (10/5): Comfortable Amazing Stay - Easy too get around town Nothing
- Meridith (10/5): - Very clean, right on the beach. Close to the ferry to Mackinac Island. Lots of restaurants and souvenir shops near by.
- Kirsten (10/5): - Our new favorite hotel! Love the beach access!
- Phyllis (8/5): Didn’t dislike the hotel, it was centrally located for our activities, but it was overpriced like most things in that ar - Location Property is a little dated. Too many seabirds to enjoy the balcony. Crowded breakfast room that you have to share with guests from other hotels.
- Anne (8/5): Very good - Great staff and hotel for the price
- Kimberly (10/5): Exceptional - Location was great. All staff were professional and friendly. Room was comfortable and clean and well stocked with plenty of towels.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gregory (4/5): - I was not happy
- Lori (6/5): - The lakeside view was enjoyable and the fireworks a plus. Very convenient to town and dining options. The staff were friendly but gave incorrect directions. The connection between the two hotels was inconvenient and confusing.
- Worden (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - Is was quiet, very clean, really comfortable beds, walking distance to downtown and Mac Island ferry. No complaints.
- Melissa (7/5): Good -
- Ahmed (8/5): - very nice staff
- Shemar (2/5): DO NOT STAY. BEWARE - Nothing about this hotel is decent. It’s DIRTY AND RUN DOWN. The best thing about it was the hot tub which barely looked clean. Poorly kept rooms- dark and dingy and dated and the air conditioning is inconsistent then have the audacity to leave an envelope for a tip in the room. I would t recommend anyone to stay here.
- Josseline (2/5): - Room was nasty! There was bloody stains on the sheets. The bathroom was disgusting.
- Tim (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (7/5): Good - We weren't informed there was breakfast. We wanted a printed receipt at checkout but didn't get one.
- Ariker (10/5): Exceptional - Bumpus was great house keeper. Clean room nice staff. Great spa tub
- Shaji (10/5): - Seasonal vacation spot.
- Carl (10/5): Quite. Clean room - Breakfest was great Nothing
