S4130HSdebs (2/5): Save your $ and go elsewhere!! - We couldn’t get together with family for Christmas so we decided to meet in Mackinaw city for a quick visit. Check in went great and they were able to put us all close together. The issues started when we got to our room, 1st, I hit all 3 lights upon walking in and non worked, flicked the bathroom light on to instantly see the mirror was covered in what I believe was water and toothpaste spots, from There we walk out to the bedroom area to a filthy floor, stained bedding, a white substance on the back of a chair, a nasty smell and a drawer full of men’s clothing. We used the conference room to exchange gifts and eat our dinner in and that floor was also filthy with huge cobwebs covering the light fixtures. Went to take a shower that night and ended up in ankle deep water because the drain was clogged. Save your $ and just don’t stay here. But beware, the owner of this place also owns a slew of other hotels along that stretch.

Carey (6/5): - The Crown Choice Hotel and Waterpark used to be the Crown Jewel in Mackinaw City when I was younger. This trip, the front staff didn’t know how to get us to our room except going outside in the rain (we could have taken the stairs in the lobby to second floor and gotten there); the Junior Suite we stayed in wasn’t cleaned when we requested, and there were no utensils provided as they have been prior. The breakfast option is no longer — LOTS of space that is unused or unadvertised sadly and not taken care of! The waterpark that was so beloved has broken faucets (9 that I counted!), the pool and hot tub were not cleaned, and the drain covers were broken, and the sauna is missing a knob so that is out of service for something that is an easy fix. There is so much work to be done during the winter season for the staff to do in order for us to stay again. Also, the breakfast coupons for the Lighthouse Restaurant were NOT accepted; we paid full price for breakfast and had a horrible server. Probably this was my worst experience in MC.
JESSICA (4/5): - Our room was not as expected. There was mold in the corners of the room and the wall paper was coming off the walls from possible moisure in the room. The bed definitely needed to be replaced and felt like an old camper mattress. Thin, springy, and concaving to the center. Will not be staying again.

The rooms were filthy…mildew all over the bathroom, mold under the kitchenette sink…stains on the ceilings where it looked like a bug was squashed, stains on the covers of the bed and the pillows. Floors were so dirty that the bottoms of our feet turned black. Musty overall smell. Pool/waterpark were ok but very run down. Will not ever stay here again or recommend this place.

Mark (6/5): - Rooms in the 5000's are above the waterpark, so the hallways and rooms are humid, but the a/c works nice in the room, and the mattresses looked new and felt good to sleep on. I had to reboot the cable box, and fully plug in the HDMI cord because the TV had no signal. No breakfast, but they do give out BOGO's for a couple local breakfast joints. Decent for $100/night (2 queen beds).

Made service didnt even replenish all the towels and matts. No coffee or cups left. They made sure to put a tip envelope front and center after they left. Mackinaw has turned into a scam. Dirty and unpleasant. Foods is horrible. For anything worth the money, you have to trvel at least 20 minutes away. Save your money and got to Traverse City. Better a one day trip to island and drive in hour to a place worthy of your money

But needs a major overhaul and maintenance help, most ac in the hallways broken etc. run down etc.

Our room seemed like ab afterthought to the hotel. Room on 4th floor but elevator only to 3rd floor. In an area by a large conference room and a 15 steps to get to our floor through the conference area. Back doors always open and unlocked to rooms so did not feel safe and secure since anyone could walk into building and have all floor access. Rooms adequate, beds comfortable, great pillows, and facility was clean. Had a good time. Would we stay there again? Probably!!!

Melissa (10/5): Must stay here! - This was a wonderful family friendly hotel! My grandkids and I had a wonderful experience, room was very clean, beds were soft and cozy. Smelled a bit too much of bleach, but I’d would rather have that than something else. Carpet was stained, but otherwise great shape. Our view was Lakeside w/ balcony and we loved it! The waterpark was just as amazing as the pictures showed- a must for traveling with kids! It is right across the street from the ferry we took to Mackinaw Island. I will definitely return next year!
Michael (2/5): - I was not able to check into my room when I was supposed to. Once my family was able to get into the room, we found a used half-gallon of milk in the refrigerator. I gave it to the front desk. My wife found multiple water and Gatorade empty bottles behind the bed and nightstands. The cabinet door did not cover the cabinet. It appears the hotel needs renovations.
Darrin (6/5): - Front desk service wasnt very good. The map she gave me and explanation of how to get to my room wasnt very good. Also, the outside jacuzzi water was cold and the indoor jacuzzi didnt have much for bubbles. Average stay at best.
Kristy (2/5): Dirty, late pool hours, broken/old, rude staff - The lady at the front desk was rude & unresponsive when spoken too (we had said thank you for various things and she said nothing each time). When another party let her know that the lobby coffee was out she did not even make eye contact or verbally respond but she rather shuffled slowly over appearing very annoyed. The headboard was broken in the room and couch and each bed was sandy along with the floor, the outdoor light (entryway) was also out. Pool did not open until 2pm so if you chose to stay there to swim- it’s not an option until mid afternoon.

We were there for 2 1/2 days never cleaned. The balconies were absolutely filthy. They need to be hosed off and scrubbed.

We enjoyed the balcony even though it overlooked the parking lot. The fireworks were visible from the balcony! The room wasn’t cleaned not even once in 5 days stay. We were asked one time if we needed towels. The water park needs operational attention and monitoring. Older kids kept the spraying water jets on continuously which was extremely intimidating to the younger kids. A timer would be a nice improvement. Younger 3-4 year olds were getting trampled by older kids 10-12 years old. The second you step into the water park you are getting sprayed by the jets that haven’t been maintained well.

Abigail (6/5): - Overall an okay place to stay if its an overnight. Didnt like the hours of the waterpark. Could've been eariler to get in before 2. Water was severly cloudy and yet you could smell all the cholrine used.

Robert (2/5): Go elsewhere - I have never been to a nastier hotel there was a strong musty odor, the filters were filthy, you could feel dirt on the floor and it appears that there is mold on the walls ( not seen until morning) we would have went elsewhere but didn’t arrive until midnight and had to leave early so we endured but never again.
Chantal (8/5): Will not stay again - Dated building. My friend and I ended up with an extremely strange, dated room that we had to go through a maze to get to. While going through that maze it felt like we were walking through a ghost town of rundown restaurants and unused banquet spaces. We were unable to even find the ice machine near our room. It was clean and were only there for one night so we made do. Great location too so that made it more bearable.
Tina (4/5): - Weird hours for the pool but other then that almost every room was disgusting, from the white spots on the couch to the ants under beds. There was mold on the shower curtain so we didn't use it while showering but what's funny about that is we had to take military showers because the tub wouldn't drain properly. I'm just glad there wasn't bed bugs. Just not a good experience and we left early because the longer we stayed the most disgusting stuff we found.
Stacy (10/5): - The staff at front desk was super friendly and even helped us when my daughter was sick from heat be able to move us to a lower floor and suite that was much more cooler and comfortable.definitely would recommend
Palak (2/5): - They don’t have breakfast. 2 queen beds are on the other side of the building where there is no elevator. You have to carry luggage by straits for 1 floor. Room and bathroom was too dark . Lights were not working. When asked for better room, hotel charged for upgrade charges and billed extra amount

Tammy (6/5): Moisture trouble - The overall cleanliness of the room was clean, I’ll give them that. But there was a definite moisture problem with that room. We arrived late into the evening and the rooms 2 ac unites were set on freezing. We had thought that because the room was so cold everything had gotten damp. Even all the pillows & beds. Well the dampness never went away. Throughout the next day while out of the room we left the ac off but upon our return it was just damp and warm in the suite. The suite has wallpaper throughout and where the seams didn’t come together the wallpaper had curled back with mold growing. The glass window on the door going outside it mold growing along its caulk line. The room had a jacuzzi, that we never used and the property has a water park which was its own building so neither of those two things were the leading issue of wet, dampness. We stayed two nights and each night you crawled into a damp bed. In the mornings when I’d put my Birkenstock sandals on, they were damp from the moisture in the room. If there had not been a moisture problem, everything would have been great

Lisa (2/5): Disabled go elsewhere - Go somewhere else no breakfast as advertised handicap room was a joke had 18 inches of brick in front of room so access for someone in a wheelchair is all near front lobby no blankets either night even though requested we were given sheets and a mattress pad had bathtub with bench so paralyzed family member unable to shower was not walk-in shower as most are just highly unsatisfied
Cindy (6/5): - Check in went well. Thought with a lake view room thought it had a balcony. Plus the hotel is accross the street facing the lake. Carpet was dirty. Head board was sticky. Husband woke up with a bug crawling on him. (It was dark. Didnt know what was) window seal was dirty. Dead bolt didnt turn. Would i go back. No.

Jeff (4/5): - No Breakfast and they still have signs up for Breakfast area. The kids in the park were swearing and scaring young kids, talking back to adults and telling them to leave, we called security after 4 people companied about these two kids. We tried telling them to keep peacefully and they would come back after they left 3 times.

Jennifer (6/5): - Issues with the tv and no one at the pool ensuring kids/people behave appropriately and safely. I was told there was an attendant but never saw one. Hot tubs weren’t heated to normal hot tub heat. Just warmer than pool.
Michele (2/5): DON ‘T STAY HERE - I would never stay here again.. It was super dirty, mold on the walls of the bathroom, furniture and carpet had cobwebs and dust behind everything .. Needs a major deep clean. The front desk ladies were very kind and this is not their fault.. not sure if they had a cleaning crew at all looks severely under staffed!

Sarathchnd (2/5): - Expecting to this rate atleast complementary breakfast...i came with a family of 5 and was under assumption that breakfasf wd be free like any other hotels around.....i feel without breakfast this rate is not justified..and to other point the hotel does not have a cafe even to.get coffee..and not even 1 water bottle was provided as a complement...the balcony door was not closing ...its a big safety issue

Verified traveler (6/5): Ok for one night - It was ok. The toilet broke and we couldn’t get help fixing it. The water in the water park was so cold you couldn’t even enjoy it. Room was roomy, beds comfy.

Joseph (6/5): - This property is dated. Rooms do require a bit of upkeep as some of the furniture is well used. However the reason we stayed here was because of the indoor water park and that was in great working order. It is geared towards young kids, 10 and under, and ours thoroughly enjoyed it. We spent 3 nights here and every night we were at the pool from dinner time until 9 with no issues. Would stay here again.
Becky (6/5): - This hotel was fine for the two nights we stayed. The water park is the only amenity and it was okay. The hot tub area wasn’t so hot and the jets didn’t work. Our room felt very sticky and didn’t cool off and they did switch us rooms right away. The hotel is within walking distance which is nice. I really did miss not having a free breakfast and they even have a really nice place to have one at the hotel. I wouldn’t likely stay here again.
Jose (2/5): - Building is old. I really don't like the fact that we have to walk around the building and find a hidden door to access the rooms then the elevator just go to the 3rd floor then you have to take the stairs carrying all your lougage. There is a dining area that looks abandoned and there was no sauna or ice machine. the arcade machines will eat your coins and most of the games will take your money and won't let you play at all. We checked in around 7pm and they were still cleaning the rooms as well bags of towels in the middle of the halls.we didn't get to check out the water park because the checkout is ar 11:am and the water park opened at 2pm.
Jennifer (2/5): Look elsewhere!! - We were on the 4th floor, but to get there we had to go outside and around the building to access an elevator to get to the 3rd floor, then walk up a hallway ramp and through an large open room that was having a family birthday party…walk through the middle of their party to access a stairway across the room and lug 3 suitcases and our personal bags up the stairs. Due to the cleanliness and overall condition of this facility, I would highly recommend staying elsewhere if you’re visiting this area.
Olivia (2/5): - Property needs major updating and repairing / cleaning. Tv didn’t work in room and no remote provided. Window was broken and wouldn’t shut all the way. Staff was friendly and welcoming, other than that just a place to sleep.
207cindyl (2/5): Don’t stay here - This place is awful. The floor was filthy it hadn’t been vacuumed or mopped. There was no rod for the toilet paper. The refrigerator/freezer had 1-2inches of ice. The top-sheets on our beds didn’t fit the bed. It took multiple times of asking to get them to vacuum and clean the floors. Our neighbors said that their room was the same and they would never come back, neither will we.

Joy (2/5): - My Mom and I just got home today from visiting. It was probable the dirtiest hotel I can remember staying in. The bed sheets were stained or dirty, the mattress pad looked like someone had peed a large area over it. I asked for new bedding our first night. The lady at the front asked me if there was a yellow bin on our floor. There wasnt, so I came back down and told her there was not. She came back to our room and handed me all new sheets to change myself. The mattress pad was disgusting. I ended up completely stripping my bed and I told them I did. No apology whatsoever. The day before we left I advised the housekeeper I needed complete over haul on my bedding. We had been gone all day and came back to still our room not serviced. It wasnt until I complained again to the front desk and after 6pm before our room was somewhat serviced. Beds made, new towels. No vacuum, no dusting. The sliders were caked with finger prints and smeared grease. The slider on one side screen was completely ripped about up 3 feet...couldnt leave that open because of bugs. The faucet leaked and created constant water puddling on the vanity. I would wake up with my makeup bag sitting in water. The cabinet the fridge is in, was also disgusting with dust bunnies and just dirt. It takes a lot for me to leave a nasty review. This hotel should be turned in for how dirty and lack of maintenance it showed. People were lazy, never went the extra mile to make you feel like your business here mattered.

Sandy (4/5): - The staff were very pleasant but the floor was dirty my granddaughter almost stepped on rusty nail the bed cover had a pee stain under sheets I couldn’t close tub to give my grandson bath had to stuff wash cloth in the hole the waterpark smelled like pee yes kids had fun but the man in charge didn’t move to turn on timer my husband did it several times the kid was too busy on his phone my granddaughter also turned it on they had to close it to clean it after my sister complained I asked to have my room cleaned since they don’t come in unless requested she left towels no toilet paper didn’t clean anything even the floor had to go get toilet paper

It was dirty, there was hair on the sheets, I’m questioning if they even changed the sheets, furniture was filthy and full of stains. The toilet had stains all over it and lifted off from the floor. Just save your money and stay somewhere else.

Robert (6/5): A little clunky getting settled. - Our room was not ready when we arrived at 5:30pm. We waited for a half hour to get into the room. All the hallways on our floor were filled with trash bags and linen bags. The room was as expected. Not bad at all. It was tight to find parking, but we luckily found a space each night.
