The rooms are bungalows with little kitchenettes and private patios in the back. The grounds are spacious, the pool and hot tub are great. Hammocks close to the pool, are great in the evening. It’s quiet and well managed. The bungalows feel private are super clean, and have basic amenities. Some kitchenware, small fridge, small tv. It’s a simple room. But comfortable and functional. Don’t expect frills. But enjoy the privacy and nostalgia. I’ve stayed 2 times and will continue to do so. A Place in the Sun is special.

A clean and spacious patio King to myself on a killer rate booked same week for a Thursday eve. The Aircon was great but too loud for me so had to turn off overnight... Which could be a problem for some.

Powerspraying the white exterior brick would do wonders. Also we stayed in room 18....it looks like at one point that was probably the place the groundskeeper stayed....so you walk into the front door and there is a locked door to your left which I realized where the current office is, you walk down the hallway and your bedroom is through one door and your bathroom through another. But you kind of feel like you have no privacy because just down the hallway is the office door.

- 575bradley (2/5): Horrible - They claim to be dog friendly! They charge 30$ per night for your dog. Your dog has to be in the room 100% of the time! You must take your dog off property to go to the bathroom…they are not allowed outside at the hotel! In a one week stay not once did they ask if I needed anything. I had to put garbage outside and ask for new towels, never once did they ask if my room needed a refresher, not once! Lastly, there are huge power lines over the pool area, not healthy! I do not recommend this hotel!

There are so many nice places out there do not be fooled or drunk and female . Shady .

Next the metal door you must enter with a code is not user friendly. Lost a bunch of food due to the refrigerator kept trip turning the power off, the room we were assigned was ok but the patio was loud and noisy traveling with a pet I had requested a quit area this was not the case . Now Alex was great! got there was no towels you have to text no front desk the poor guy was the only one there and as the place filled up he was busy. I’m not sure if I would stay there again due to the inconvenience of the place . But if you’re with a group the rooms are large pool and spa were nice the grounds were well taking care. So might be worth it but if you’re older this might not be what you’re looking for . Best of luck !
- Edgar (2/5): - I was never greeted. When someone finally helped me it was after waiting almost 20 minutes. The host showed no hospitality. Made it feel like I was not welcomed. I had booked in advance and had already paid for the room. I was asked for an extra deposit that I hadn't seen mentioned on the contract. I agreed to pay it but requested enough time to charge my cell phone and access my accounts. He denied me any help and said they're is nothing he can do and walked away. After finally getting my phone to charge by having to get a portable charger I looked for assistance again to get into my room but wasn't helped until past 8pm

All rooms are close to the pool. There is a BBQ gas grill for community use. Rooms are equipped with all basic essentials. Everyone, including guests were nice. Something I suggest bringing, beach towels...there are some provided but i like covering the entire chair. That's just a me issue.

But only amenities were a pool and hot tub. Small tv in the room - not 55” as stated. Workspace was small outdoor style metal table with tiny metal chairs. I would never have booked this hotel for that price. Very disappointed.

Quiet, clean, walkable downtown location with wonderful heated pool f - The location can't be beat - right downtown where we could walk to everything without getting winded. My knees aren't what they used to be, so that was a blessing! Robert didn't have to move the car once during our 4-day stay. The rooms were a pleasant surprise - so spacious! Plenty of room for all our luggage (you know how I pack!) and Robert's CPAP machine. Everything was spotlessly clean, which matters more and more these days. That heated pool and jacuzzi were heavenly for our joints - open all night too! We enjoyed our evening soaks under the stars, reminiscing about our first trip to Palm Springs back in '79. What a difference from those motel pools that close at 8pm! We appreciated the "adults only" policy. Don't get me wrong, we love our grandkids to pieces, but sometimes you need peace and quiet. No cannonballs or Marco Polo games to disturb our afternoon naps by the pool! The dog-friendly policy was wonderful although we didn't bring our Mitzi this time. Those private patios would be perfect for her, since she gets nervous around strange dogs ever since that incident at the dog park.
- scott (2/5): - I had a strange experience here. Coming from LA - 2 hours from the property. Wanted to check in early to drop off my stuff. Called - and called - and called. They simply didn't answer their phones. Tried calling to make a reservation and was on hold for 2 hours. Finally made it to the property (while still on hold). The property has a parking lot and wall - can't see in. Is this really a place to stay? Waited. A customer came out and said it was was, indeed, a place to stay and had 17 units. She got an employee to come out. He basically said they don't answer the phone until 3:00 when people can check in. They didn't respond to texts or phone calls from multiple cell phones. Aggravating! Property is old or classic, depending on your tastes. Things seemed to work well. Quiet - it's in a residential area. It's essentially 17 little bungalows assembled around a pool and lawn. Wish I could give them a great review - but you really have to answer the phones.

- Roam43663587991 (2/5): Disappointing - I understand that this motel used to be well maintained, beautifully landscaped and very pleasant. Those days are gone. It’s fallen under the mercy of inept new owners. I stayed in a spacious bungalow with a kitchen and a private outdoor space. That’s the good. The check in process is strange to say the least. Text your ID and reservation information to a phone number posted on a wall outside near a metal gate.there is no front desk to check guests in. Once you get inside, the grounds are shabby with gravel rocks in areas where live landscaping used to be. Tall security walls all around. The original mid century architecture is there but, the garish exterior paint colors and cheap outdated furnishings don’t compliment or reflect that. Reminded me of a lesser version of an 80s Golden Girls set. The fake indoor plants didn’t help much to dress u the interior. The bathroom had large partially used soap and shampoo containers. There were closets with padlocks on them . While I appreciated having a kitchen it had the cheapest dollar store like plastic ware and no exhaust fan above the stove. Electrical cords dangled off the back of the bungalow. Under the right management,someone with real hospitality management experience A Place In The Sun could be a charming destination property. Given its unique storied past and ideal location I hope someone vision will take over this property.

- courtney14905 (10/5): ABSOLUTE PERFECTION! - We visited Palm Springs for the first time right after Christmas. Our intention was to leave on 12/29 but we loved it so much, we decided to stay through New Years. The original hotel that we were in was not able to accommodate us past our original check-out date, so we had to find someplace else e to “move” to on very short notice. Luckily we stumbled upon A Place in the Sun! Alex was fabulous ~ so welcoming and helpful! As soon as we got there, my husband and I both said that we wished we had stayed there from the beginning! Adorable little bungalow, awesome pool & hot tub, immaculate landscaping and we even had an enclosed back patio which was perfect for our little dogs! The location is also great! An easy walk to pretty much anywhere you would want to go. We can’t wait to visit again! Thank you, Alex, for making our vacation so amazing!

We had a long flight and we asked to check in 30 min before but were told to pay extra . The guy who is running this place is quick to respond but not very accommodating . The rooms are so old , cheap looking . We stayed in a room so claustrophobic dark and dingy . Heating system didn’t work first day and we were cold couldn’t sleep . Came and fixed the next day . Coffee maker didn’t work . There is construction noice till very late night . It looks from inside and out very cheap motel and shouldn’t be calling this a hotel . This place is very disappointing . I will not recommend this place to anyone !

The grounds are kept up nicely. Adults only, means no screaming kids running around. All you hear are the birds and the wind rustling through the palm fronds. The view from the pool area is beautiful and it's open 24/7. All this for a very reasonable price.

Staff was friendly but that’s about it. Place is gross. If everything else around wasn’t booked solid we would have left immediately.

The rooms are clean, well kept and have plenty of room regardless of your selection. The outdoor patio areas for each room offer privacy and sun. One look at a map and you can see how close you are to everything you need. We will definitely return. Thanks Alex.

- Kimberly (10/5): Bungalow Heaven in the Desert - What a cute set of 1950s bungalows. Perfect for a friends get away. Adult only which was nice. Pool and jacuzzi are open all hours. Theres a Bar area and BBQ great for gatherings. Private and small so it feels cozy rather than the larger resorts. Each bungalow has a nice size kitchen some have living rooms and dining rooms and private patios. Quite too as it sits away from busy Palm Canyon Drive. Cute neighborhood and 5 mins by car to Downtown Palm Springs, grocery stores and restaurants. Cant wait to come back for another stay.

- Pieterwas (2/5): Double standards and rules which apply only to some - I have stayed there every month from December 2023 to July 2024. The place is gated with little plants unfortunately. When I saw pictures before it had beautiful bushes and flowers. All gone now. Few trees at the property. Lots of gravel stones which gives it a cold feeling. Some bungalows are big and spacious, some are too small for king size bad. #14 has a constant noise from A/C and the light from outside coming in. #7 is the nicest room at the property (according to Alex) but you can’t open the window in the bedroom there. #4 has an orange tree on the patio. But when I stayed there first time in February couches in the living room were stinky. The bed is firm mattress which I personally love but I know many people don’t. I had to bring my own sheets and towels because theirs smell like strong chemicals. Even after keeping it outside for two weeks, they still smell. Never hung out by the pool because it doesn’t feel comfortable being watched, and they have installed cameras everywhere. There are little Christmas lights all over the property which makes some rooms bright during the night. Overall I love the property and its location but I would change so many things there! Let’s start with the owners and Alex, the person who does it all there, reservations, check-is, cleaning, and maintaining the property. At first, super nice to me, good deals, welcoming etc. But in May something felt off, and I like transparency, and they hide who the owner is. I’m very conscious customer/guest, I like to know who I support and give my money to, so I did a little digging. Starting with reviews, and OMG, check the Yelp reviews of the property after new owners took over. Never seen something like this! People leaving honest reviews, and the owner hiding behind false name Peter B. is insulting, degrading, disrespecting the guests. It was very disturbing to me even by reading this, so imagine how these people felt since he was literally attacking them verbally. I’m an empath so I feel everything through my body. And when at my last stay I voiced my concerns to Alex, I got a text message “ We are unfortunately not able to accommodate any future reservation.”, and then they blocked me everywhere! From beloved guest to a banned guest. Just. Like. That. Which was hurtful because I’m clean, quiet and respectful of all the places I always stay in. So, yes, they are super nice to some people and “rude, prejudice and discriminatory” to others (like one guest on Booking.com wrote). I totally believe it now. Sadly, honesty, transparency and integrity you will not find there. Also, now knowing who the owner is, and how he treats people, I would have never supported this business in the first place.

- Hoffners (10/5): Lots of tranquility, space, and value at A Place in the Sun - A Place in the Sun is a wonderful, tranquil get away in the heart of Palm Springs. The rooms are extremely spacious with living room, kitchen, and Bedroom. Elizabeth Taylor, when she built it in 1951, definitely wanted her guest to enjoy their stay. That ambiance is still the same. Be sure to sit poolside early morning and enjoy the serene surroundings while watching the mountain turn orange at first light and the hummingbirds dancing about you. Highly recommended and a great value.

- MICHAEL (8/5): Why didn't I stay here before? - The opposite feel of a chain motel. Magnificently lit and decorated courtyard with hammocks, golf, trees, warm pool that isn't the usual "heated but cold", clean hot tub, relaxing atmosphere after dark. Pools open all night. Text support unresponsive at times, zero roof/ceiling insulation so you have to run AC all the time, jalousie window slats look good but let the hot air in. Very comfy bed. Beautiful polished concrete floors and period details. Needs elevated solar panels 12 inches above existing roof for air movement to solve problem.

Alex the gentleman who checked us in was so kind and you can tell he works hard to keep this cozy place in check. This hotel was much more affordable than the other options down the road and we are glad that we opted for here. I will definitely be back as I feel super refreshed and relaxed. This is true Palm Springs and did not disappoint.

- Steve (2/5): - This is a tired, old property. The electrical outlet used to plug in the coffee maker appears to be overloaded and causes concern for potential fire hazard. I was in room 18 and the configuration of the hallway allowed for the loud late night (11:30 p.m. to midnight) yelling of the residents in #19 to be easily heard. Complaints on the loud noise to management got a response that they were advising #19 of the quiet time policy -- it did little to handle the situation which disturbed my sleep.

Had to stay out front in the hot sun additional 15 minutes after the regular check in. check in process was slow and painful and the room still wasn't done by 330. the complex was kind of old but the pool was extremely enjoyable. No Condiments available for the coffee.
- Sherry (10/5): What an interesting place! - So much history, I had no idea until Alex checked me in and explained everything, I was really surprised! The place was very safe & secure, which was important to me as I was travelling alone. The bed was SO comfy & you had a choice of pillow comfort. The room was a little retro, which was fun. I didn't use the pool or spa, but wish I would've. The outside nightlighting was beautiful. They have done a nice job in preserving all the beauty & history, it really was an interesting stay!

Was worried about some of the reviews, and yea the rooms could use an update, but my room was huge, had private patio, full kitchen, and the grounds and pool were lovely. No complaints whatsoever. Friendly staff.

- Wanderer59591294147 (10/5): Funky retro vibe - Besides being only a twenty minute walk to downtown, this motel has a funky vintage feel, making it a nice change from a chain experience. Super clean and Alex was super helpful. All of the various accommodations face on to the pool area. Also liked that the motel is surrounded by a fence, giving it a private vibe.
- LauraN479 (10/5): Just lovely! - This place was exactly what we were looking for, old school mid-century modern Palm Springs. Small, maybe 19 rooms, super quiet and secluded. Our host Alex, was just wonderful. After one night in our studio room, Alex moved us to a bigger room due to unexpected repairs behind our unit. This was not inconvenient for us at all, yet he was so gracious. So we loved it…pool and hot tub were perfect, and we met many nice people!! Also worth mentioning it’s adults only here, not going to lie, that worked for us. 😀 Can’t wait to return!! Best, Laura and Brian Pacific Grove, CA

- dancing_girl14 (8/5): This is a 2 1/2 star hotel! - Keep in mind above all, this is a 2 1/2 star hotel, so lower your expectations to that level before going! Pros: super cute, old school 1950s bungalows with cute kitchenettes, nice clean pool, and adult only!! Within easy walk to restaurants and shops. The host Alex likes to tell little stories about the rooms and who stayed there over the years, but if you actually research some of his tales online (I did), you will see they are told more in fun to add some history to the place, but may not necessarily be true. Moving on...Cons: amenities are all from Walmart. Now, don't get me wrong, I love a good deal at Walmart as well as the next person! So, you will need to remember, this is a 2 1/2 star hotel! Walmart coffee machine with Walmart great value brand coffee. Walmart Beach towels and bath towels. Probably Walmart shampoo and shower gel. What I would advise: bring your own kcups for coffee, definitely bring your own shampoo, conditioner and soap, and bring a warm blanket if it is chilly. Otherwise, the rest is livable. At $299/night for our room, I really think the owners could upgrade these things. The kitchen worked great for our daily breakfasts, even though we couldn't get the pilot lit on the oven, we improvised. So, would I recommend? I give a hesitant yes because we enjoyed our stay, but don't feel the cost was in line with the amenities.
- Anderson (10/5): 1st night in Palm Spings - We needed a night upon arrival and wanted a place close to the airport with a vintage feel. Alex was friendly and greeted us upon arrival. Heated pool was nice.

- 789rayy (2/5): A shady scam. - This place is a straight-up scam, and shady as heck. We booked a room for an event weekend months in advance. We had a receipt by email. We had a booking number. We had multiple text messages saying "You're all set, we're ready for you today." etc. We arrive at about 8pm the night of our reservation after driving hours, and there's a sign at the gate saying "Text a photo of your ID and email address to [random phone number]." What? Just pay someone to greet us like a legitimate hotel at $400 a night. Holy moly. I texted them my name and confirmation number - I was not about to send a photo of my ID to someone I don't know. I got a text back almost immediately saying "Alex is on duty tonight to check you in. Please text him instead at [another random phone number]" What? What the hell is up with that? So I do text Alex, who despite my many different proofs of booking insists there's no booking under my name, email or that booking number. And then ghosts me. I ask him if we can talk face to face to figure this out, because there will be no reservations for any other place since it's an event weekend in Palm Springs. Nothing. Complete silence. Alex never answers. I call him. No answer. I call the first number. No answer. I had to initiate a charge back with my credit card company because they refused to even talk to us.
