Guest Reviews
- Michael (8/5): Enjoyed the visit - Breakfast excellent A property nearer to York
- Sarah (8/5): -
- Terri (10/5): A perfect experience - This hotel is wonderful! The room was comfortable and well appointed. The facility is beautifully decorated and the staff were friendly. A great experience and I highly recommend.
- Fiona (10/5): - Very pretty and comfortable place to stay. Staff extremely helpful. Parking spaces available. Expensive. It's more a b&b than a hotel. Only breakfast available. No evening or afternoon food available.
- Smith (10/5): -
- angela (8/5): - The room was beautifully decorated, spacious, and clean. The breakfast.
- Megawati (10/5): The BEST Boutique Hotel in YORK - The BEST Hotel among all Hotels that we stay during our road trip around England. They allowed us to check in early and gave the biggest room that we ever stayed in England. The room about 30m2 and has own foyer. The City center also only 10 minutes walks. We love to stay at Boutique Hotel Clementine đ Little bit stuffy because no windows. But because the room is big so just OK
- samantha (8/5): A quirky hotel that felt classy and comfortable - We absolutely loved the hotel, its decor & our room was exceptional!
The breakfast was nice but the only part of the stay that wasnât exceptional, the coffee was very weak & the saysafe & bacon couldâve been cooked a little longer.
But we absolutely loved our stay thank you Sorry i have filled this in above
- Robinson (8/5): -
- Lee (10/5): A must Stay - Everything the location is great hotel is superb
Rooms are absolutely amazing Nothing absolutely outstanding
- Wendy (9/5): - Beautiful decor
- Stuart (9/5): -
- Vilma (9/5): Nice short stay in the personal style hotel room. - Cute room, very nice staff and comfortable bed. Nice little walk from the center and railway station. Cute cat in the reception! The soundproofing wasn't the best and someone was talking loudly during the night in one of the other rooms.
- Pamela (10/5): -
- Jason (7/5): Average stay, but paying for the hotels private carpark is completely unacceptable.. - The location of the guest house / hotel is perfect with only a short walk needed to get into the city centre. The staff were helpful and friendly and the room that we had was spacious oldy worldly with a few nice touches. Paying for the private carpark was a complete surprise and we did not see this during the time of booking. The water that was given as drinking water for the room was in a large none sealed bottle so most likely tap water. Breakfast was ok, but our order was messed up when we clearly give specific instructions on how to cook our eggs.
The paying for the private carpark was the big disappointment and so we shall not be staying again.
- Robin (10/5): Wished weâd booked a longer stay and we will be back - Very impressing building and the room was beautifully themed Parking not guaranteed although wasnât a problem in the end
- Jonathan (7/5): -
- SIVA RAMI MUDIMELA (8/5): - Although the booking is for one day all hotels in UK are actually checking in 1600h and checking out at 1000h, which effectively means only 18 h??!!
This is not good Parking 15 lbs/day

- Karen (9/5): Quirky fantastic place to stay local to Lovely York - Breakfast as always was superb & staff were excellent too! Paying for parking
- Kelly (10/5): - Stunning rooms,very clean,friendly staff,really enjoyed our stay
- Nicola (9/5): -
- Dan (5/5): Misleading - The location The room we were given was not the room I had chosen on booking.com: when I questioned this with the staff it was mentioned that the rooms arenât always what was booked due to availability. Due to the amount paid for the room this was disappointing.
Also the room looked very tired and there was a lot of touching up needed
- Catherine (10/5): - Very quirky, lovely and clean very comfortable Nothing , everything was superb. Couldn't fault a thing I would definitely recommend.
- Head (10/5): -
- Payen (10/5): -
- Natalie (8/5): -
- John (10/5): Enjoyable and relaxing - The hotel was not clean on the stair was comfortable Friendly staff
- Humber (10/5): - Staff excellent. Breakfast great Price for paying for parking when its onsite bit expensive
- Paul (10/5): Loved here that much during our first visit we just had to come back and will again. - Attention to detail is noticeable everywhere, it is nothing short of a spectacular hotel. Exceptionally clean, extremely helpful an friendly staff and the full English is top notch. 5 stars is not enough.
- Kirsty (10/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): - Love the After Eight room breakfast very good also
- Becky (10/5): Gorgeous hotel, ideal location, lovely room and staff. - We loved the rooms, the lobby and how welcoming it was. The hotel is in an idelic location and the parking is brilliant. I couldnât reccomend this hotel more. Nothing! It was lovely.
- Ian (10/5): -
- Debbie (10/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Tom (10/5): Excellent - Very clean Nothing
- Vicki (10/5): Beautiful surroundings & dog friendly! - Stunning style to the whole place! Quirky and comfortable. Great to have a lounge, bar & breakfast onsite.
Garden is lovely too.
Perfect location for walking everywhere in York!
Even our dog had his own little rug and bowl đ N/a
- Connor (10/5): Great stay very happy - Lovely cozy place to stay Nothing
- John (9/5): -
- Aileen (5/5): Disappointing - Liked the room, although the balcony overlooked the car park, floors were very creaky, the pumps on soap dispensers didnât work. The greeting of âyou canât park here â when it was obvious we were only unloading bags. Car park costs ÂŁ15 per night, doesnât say on website. The only available breakfast slots were 7am or 10am, nothing on website about this. Receptionist taking full payment then another swipe of credit card âin case you go all rock star on us and trash the place we can charge you!â Holding onto credit card for ages while telling us the computer was glitching, we were worried we were having the card cloned. Wasnât made to feel welcome at all despite ÂŁ170 (without breakfast) charge.
- Champion (10/5): Parfait - TrĂšs accueillant et dog friendly
- Ashima (4/5): -
- Georgia (9/5): -
- Brendahak (10/5): -
- Angela (9/5): - Cameron was very helpfull great staff
- brett (10/5): -
- Kinver001 (10/5): - Quirky hotel and the staff were friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast.
- Rebecca (8/5): Beautiful boutique property - Beautiful property with excellent design and quirky interior- great location. Our bedroom was beautiful but absolutely stiffling in the night despite opening the window and turning the radiator off
There was a fan in the wardrobe that we found in the morning that may of eased it.
Also whilst the staff were wonderful we were not asked about our stay at checkout or asked for any feedback.
- Dalton (9/5): Very good excellent for value - Quirky, clean & comfy Room could do with some shutter blinds as we were on first floor across from the main hotel building and other rooms could see directly in to our room meaning we had to have curtains shut trapping the heat in the room
- Przenioslo (8/5): Overall really good stay. - Room had nice and rich atmosphere due to modern and fancy decoration, and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was really tasty. Dealing with a cramped room layout, especially having to squeeze past the bed to move around, definitely impacts the comfort of a stay.
- Brian (8/5): Wonderful ambiance, lovely rooms, very nice staff, easy access to York City Center. Nothing to dislike. - Very nice boutique style hotel within easy walking distance of York city centre.
The staff were excellent! Friendly and very helpful.
Excellent Breakfast!
The rooms are cozy and in Art Deco style.
Would we book again? Absolutely! Loved the Art Deco styling and friendly helpful staff đđ»
- Kirsty (8/5): Easy check in, nice bar, spacious room (even though we had a small double), friendly staff. Next time Iâm in York Iâll a - Great location, friendly staff, gorgeous hotel cat! Our room was very hot and the sunlight came flooding in early morning due to shape of windows and curtains
- Davison (10/5): -
- Danielle (6/5): Lovely hotel, great location. - Great location and an on site parking is a huge pro for me. We didnât have it this time, but had breakfast previously and itâs gorgeous. This is the third time weâve stayed at this property and the room size really let us down this time. Always booked the same room, so unsure why this one was so small. The bed is wasnât a king size or anything, but we had to walk side ways to get around the bed.
We were also slightly disappointed with the negotiations of us staying an extra night. We had booked online at the best offers for an extra night and this property wasnât the best priced. However, we thought weâd ask reception if we could book online for another night, as online showed there were rooms still available. I advised that the price weâd found was ÂŁ30 cheaper than their online price and if theyâd be willing to match it. Pure and simple, was told no. Apparently with how things are, you could only offer the higher price⊠thatâs it. No negotiations, no slight discount, no loyalty offer as we kept coming back. Slightly disappointed as surely an extra night off us would be better than nothing if the room didnât sell last minute? Just a bit let down as this aspect.
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Crystal (9/5): -
- Hamid (10/5): -
- Rebecca (9/5): - Such beautiful decor, excellent location and staff were so welcoming. We will definitely be back
- Mal (9/5): Hotel with great character and helpful friendly staff in perfect location for city centre - Nice quirky hotel with lots of character and a great breakfast, we got a suite with its own entrance and separate bathroom. Nothing much
- Aaron (9/5): Nice break is a beautiful old city, hotel well located and clean and welcoming. - Very cosy and friendly helpful staff. Property was good we have no dislikes
- Duncan (9/5): - Hotel was lovely, comfortable - excellent decoration. Breakfast - lots of choice! Hotel garden was lovely and secluded. Hotel has a really friendly cat called Teddy - Loved everything about our stay! Price was really good (especially for York) Got no criticism
- Ian (10/5): -
- karen (10/5): Super room - Gorgeous room, fab hotel. Friendly helpful staff. Good location.
- Pascal (9/5): -
- Nicolas (9/5): - Un hÎtel trÚs agréable, à deux pas du centre. Recommandé
- Donna (9/5): - This was our first stay in York. And was very pleased I found Hotel Clementine, the room was lovely and comfy. Staff was very helpful.
- C (10/5): Excellent - Comfortable, stylish and friendly.
- Jessica (10/5): -
- Rachel (10/5): - Quirky hotel, nice breakfast. 2nd time we chose to stay here. Walking distance to city. Very close to Minster.
- Lisa (9/5): Boutique and beautiful - Great location, beautiful rooms and garden area
Breakfast was lovely Weren't able to open the skylight window. But we didn't raise it as we weren't in the room for long periods of time. Just wanted some fresh air with the lovely weather.
- Sarah (9/5): -
- Laura (10/5): -
- Jane (10/5): Perfect York Stay - Comfortable beds, great showers.
Friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble.
Close enough to walk into the main centre. No smart TV.
- Vanessa (10/5): Fantastic. Would stay again! - Lovely property, fantastic location for exploring. Staff were so helpful and super friendly. N/A
- Mark (10/5): - Lovely hotel. Great staff Our room was quite small
- Joseph (9/5): Very good, a characterful property quite close to the city centre. A good breakfast included. - Friendly and helpful staff, very convenient location Limited parking, although evening and night street parking was available and convenient
- Anthony (10/5): - Perfectly situated, quiet hotelâŠbeautifully decorated and Teddy the hotel cat is adorableâŠa hidden gem and highly recommended
- paul (10/5): Outstanding experience! - The whole experience from start to finish was excellent. The staff were super friendly and helpful, the room was clean and really well presented as well as being spotless, the location was ideal and the breakfast superb. Nothing!
- Beth (10/5): Lovely stay and a bonus cat. - The room was a total triumph of maximalist design. It felt like stepping into a very chic, moody botanical garden where every corner had something beautiful to look at. I spent a significant amount of time admiring the wallpaper before I even remembered there was a bed. It is the kind of beautiful space that makes you feel much more sophisticated than you felt when you arrived.
âThe staff were brilliant and incredibly welcoming, though I suspect they are merely the supporting cast. The real manager is the resident hotel cat who was spotted patrolling the corridors to ensure all guests were meeting it's standards. It seemed the sort of feline T.S. Eliot might have immortalised; unlike Macavity, however, he was very much there, keeping an eye on everything. I felt thoroughly supervised in the best way possible. Returning to my own home was a crushing disappointment as it looks offensively boring by comparison. I was also politely but firmly informed that the cat was not a complimentary souvenir available for relocation.
- Pieton (10/5): - The hotel is beautiful and very stylish. The rooms are spotlessly clean. The staff is very friendly and professional. Very close to the city, with on-site parking. We were very impressed. The restaurant is great, as is the bar. We can't wait to return to the Hotel Clementineđ„°đ„° Everything was perfectđ€©đ€©đ€©
- Alan (8/5): -
- John (9/5): Will be using again - York is notorious for not being able to park your car (cheaply) so a hotel, with a carpark within a ten minute walk of the city centre was ideal. Yes, there was a charge but well worth it imo.
All the staff were brilliant and this hotel has a 24 hr reception too.
We were persuaded to order breakfast by another guest. He said we wouldn't be disappointed and we weren't. All the food was cooked to order and using quality ingredients (apart from maybe the obligatory hash brown.) The breakfast kept us going all day. Saved a fortune not having to snack all day.
The bed (and linen) was amongst the most comfortable I've slept in.
This hotel would persuade me to visit York more often. The room was a loft room, with only the one velux so a little dark. The dark painted walls didn't help but no shortage of electric lamps.
- Di (9/5): Lovely friendly hotel - Friendly staff
Cosy & warm
Lovely breakfast
Clean
Convenient to centre
Quiet position N/A
- Margarita (10/5): The warmest stay ever - It was the best stay ever, gorgeous room, friendly staff, amazingly decorated lobby and lounge area. Everything was just perfect! I wish we could have stayed longer
- NICOLA (8/5): -
- Emma (8/5): Ok, I would return but book a bigger room. - Location superb, lovely staff, quality beds with a lovely night sleep. The room was exactly described as booked, a small double room. ( very small) However I feel certain changes could have been made to make it more user friendly. Move the mirror, on entering the room to the wall where the chair was situated. This is much closer to the plug sockets. Get rid of the chair completely to make more room. The charges for parking are excessive ÂŁ15 a night, is way over the top.
- Dawn (9/5): A wonderful place to spend a few nights in York - Perfectly located for day tripping around York. Situated in a quiet road, a short walk from York Minster and the medieval city centre.
The room was enormous and well furnished.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was terrific (and the chef was easily able to accommodate dietary restrictions).
- Wolloms (8/5): -
- Helen (10/5): -
- Anthony (8/5): Lovely cosy place with great staff. - Really friendly helpful staff
- Angie (9/5): Good choice for a great stay! - Lovely quirky hotel - great decor and really nice deluxe room. Very friendly staff - particularly Cameron! Let us leave our bag before check in and after check out - nothing a hassle. Lovely breakfast. Nothing to complain about.
- Matthew (9/5): - Great Hotel & location!
- John (9/5): Would recommend this hotel to others - Easy walk to York city, breakfast was very good and lounge was relaxing to have a dtink after a tiring day Why do you have to pay for parking ? Toilet roll holder loose resulting in toilet roll dropping on floor
- Fiona (10/5): Fantastic Hotel, full of character and delightful surprises, lovely staff, calming and relaxing. â€ïž - Delicious breakfast, cooked to perfction !!!
Fantastic location, lovely neighbourhood, quiet. Great garden area too and a lovely barand lounge.
Amazing decor throughout the hotel. Every member of staff was polite, efficient, friendly, welcoming and happy to help. Attention to detail was spot on - well equipped room, hot shower, lovely comfy bed, fluffy towels and Kitkats ! I did not like having to leave, wanted to stay longer !!
- DEREK (9/5): Excellent stay for my wifeâs birthday. - Was very handy for city centre. 10 mins walk up the road. Bed was a little too hard.
