Guest Reviews
- Relax67678225460 (8/5): 1970’s Time Capsule - Loved it! - Stayed here with some friends as part of a cycling trip. The hotel is a living monument to the 1970’s, but do you know what? That doesn’t matter. The staff were friendly and the room clean. Breakfast was relaxed and had a good range, regularly replenished. The hotel is situated 5-10 minutes from the main street, where there are plenty of options for drinks/dinner. Would definitely stay again.
- AmericanMomInGermany (10/5): Honest hotel with a great staff, beautiful views and a big breakfast buffet - Having to leave the hiking trail for a couple of days because of the weather we found comfortable sanctuary at this hotel.
The view from our room 303 was breathtaking and our beds comfortable. The shower was fantastic — hot water heater is in the room so no waiting!
The first night we hadn’t booked breakfast because we used the fully equipped kitchen, but when we needed to extend our stay, Jose at the front desk gave us a good rate that included breakfast. And what a breakfast! Something for everyone.
The hotel is not new, and they are putting their energies where it counts: their friendly service and good food.
- D1225LBdane (10/5): A wizard base at the end of the world. - We had three nights here using the Navigator as a base. It was a great location with a wizard view of the headland to the fort and the lighthouse; we could even see the light at Cape St Vincent. On arrival, the chap behind the desk gave us a map of the area and told us of a few things we could do. We had intended to just sit on one of the beaches, but we ended up hiring bikes to explore. There's a cycle path all the way to Cape St V, so we did that. The beaches are amazing, there are cafes on most of them, and are great to watch surfers and windsurfers even if you don't do it yourself. The rooms were all we needed (even if the kitchen was a little tired it was clean and had all you'd want to make a light meal). The bed was comfortable, the air con was cool, and the bathroom clean. The pool was clean and sheltered. Value for money I reckon. The staff were all very friendly and the breakfast was spot on. The hotel was quiet with a good friendly, laid back vibe.
- Valery (10/5): - Very convenient, comfortable and clean. Entire apartment for the price of hotel room. Close to all sightseeing and dining options.
- simon (8/5): - clean friendly nice views from back
good place to walk along the coast - both directions
my porch 112
- 220violetg (2/5): Microwave criminal anthena exposion - cell tower to avoid - Unfortunly, we did not knew this hotel has a huge radiation anthena in the top roof that is highly health compromising and actualy criminal since the management is receiving money to boost us all...nearby, there have been casualties from cancer and authorities dont seem to pay attention...avoid being fried like we were!
- atamsc (10/5): Great value! - Good value. Yes, it is an older hotel, but it was clean and comfortable. Jose, at the front desk, is a gem! He gave us restaurant recommendations (Adega Dos Arcos and Carlos). Highly recommended hotel for Fisherman’s Trail (walking South to North). Leave early for cooler temps.
- Thomas (8/5): Perfect Base for Surf Trips with My Boys - I stay at Aparthotel Navigator often with my two boys when we come to Sagres to surf. The hotel is old, but everything works – clean, spacious, practical – and the price is a real bargain.
I’m glad they don’t waste money on unnecessary renovations. It keeps costs down for families like mine and avoids needless waste that’s bad for the planet. I’d rather spend on experiences with my kids than on shiny hotel decor.
If you want honest, affordable comfort in a great location, this is it. We’ll keep coming back.
- Katherine (10/5): - We had an excellent stay. Our room was spacious, with a separate living area, and had spectacular sea views. Plentiful parking on site, friendly staff and an excellent buffet breakfast. The ApartHotel offers a great value-for-money stay.
We really appreciated the self-catering facilities, but it would have been helpful to provide washing up liquid and a cloth.
- Gábor (6/5): Time travel at the edge of Europe - Hotel location is perfect. The quality of the building was perfect when it was built, but it is 50 years old now. Needs a big renovation. There was some kind of drilling on the 3rd floor and the complete contrete structure was shaking.
- Verified traveler (6/5): More like a 2-star hotel. Good location. - The location was good. We asked the hotel to provide our sea-view room on top/upper floors, but we were given the room on the first floor. We were told that the second and third floor are temporarily closed, but we did see a guest in a room on second floor, so it was strange. The hotel didn't have a warm breakfast for vegetarians, but a few vegan items were arranged on the second day. There were some unknown noise during the night. The toilet seat could not stay in up position. The room and overall hotel gave a feel of 2-star hotel and not 3-star hotel.
- Pauline (6/5): - Staff were great, property description does not match what you receive. Property is a 1980’s pretty dilapidated building, rooms are adequate but not great - twin bed situation, kitchen area very basic and the shower needed an update about 15yrs ago. Breakfast was actually cold. Staff don't seem to have any pride in their environment. Owners need to spend €€ updating everything. Staff were wonderful though.
- Martin (8/5): - Lovely rustic feel
- Nathan (8/5): - Great staff and helpful.
Good location as walkable to everything.
- isabelle (4/5): - Very old need new bed and furniture
- Guillaume (10/5): Nice stay in Sagres - We had a nice stay! The location is amazing and the room was spacious. The view from the room is something. The only thing I would say is when we arrived, the bathroom smelt awful (sewer smell).
- Verified traveler (8/5): Custo x beneficio - Excelente custo x beneficio. Hotel antigo, simples e funcional.
- Karen (8/5): - Excellent location staff very friendly and extremely helpful. Hotel needs a bit of an update but overall a good experience
- A (2/5): - Eine Reise in die Vergangenheit. Hier wurde viel zu lange nichts investiert.
- Juan (10/5): - Nice staff , David was very accommodating and helpful
The room was spacious and clean , very good aparthotel with amazing views of Sagres beach
- Juan (10/5): - I loved my 2 days here , clean , great view and spacious, David was very nice
- Rosemary (4/5): - View was excellent. From 3rd floor you can lie in bed and see the ocean. 10 minute walk to beach. Long to other locations mentioned on Expedia web site.
Rest was sub par, spars. No couch or good chair to sit on. Plastic patio furniture for dining. Extremely poor lighting. Had to use cell flashlight to see what we were cooking in evening. No double beds left even though booked one. Can hear everything from hall/ next unit. Very few plugs. Very very old. No modern conveniences. Whole place smells like cigarettes. There was an ash tray in our room even though we requested non smoking. I do not recommend.
- Ivan (10/5): - It is clean, safe, and with friendly and helpful staff. Near the beach, and dinning spots. It is also quiet at night, and with beautiful view of the sea.
- Krystyna (6/5): Very old - Very old hotel in a desperate need of renovation. Terrible bed, I had to go underneath it and fix its legs because they weren’t straight.
- Stefan (6/5): -
- Corinne (4/5): - The property is in need of an update. The outside is run down. Furniture, sinks, appliances are very old and outdated. It appeared to be clean, but there was an uncomfortable odor present.
The room door and balcony windows don’t seal well. You hear people walking by including their conversations.
Check in and out was easy and quick. The hotel is located overlooking a cliff.
- Allan (10/5): - Love this place. Small town charm with good restaurants only a block or two away. Safe and quiet. Feels like a California beach town circa 1965. Hotel is well maintained and rooms have great views.
- yassine (4/5): - Sea view clos to town free parking
- Jerome (2/5): - Attention
- Bella (4/5): - Hotel very run down and expensive
Would not recommend it or stay there again
- Dr_PhoenixAngelfire (8/5): Value for money - The staff were very welcomeing. This is a wondy corner of the world, but well worth a visit. The rooms were adequate, but the furniture was a bit dated. we really could not complain given the democratic prices. We even had a beautiful balcony with a view of the beaches.
- 398louiseo (6/5): Keep the windows closed - Staff are very nice and breakfast was pretty good value at 6 euro. Room was very clean and shower was a new one and very nice. Bed was comfortable enough. However there was a musty smell in my room so I opened the window to air the place and was bitten alive by mosquitos for a few nights. I slept poorly because of this and left after 6 nights had booked for 8 nights. Is cheap and cheerful but for me not a place to stay for a long trip. Next time I visit Sagres I will pay a bit extra for a more comfy setting. It's well situated.
- Daniela (10/5): Muito bom!
- DAMAS (8/5): - Bien
Algún electrodoméstico no funcionaba correctamente.
A rendimento bom.
- Antonio (4/5): - It is a very old apartment with furniture removed from a horror movie, the sofas in the living room are uncomfortable, the blackout curtains let in the light, the mattress on the bed is uncomfortable, which does not allow a restful sleep. There is no electric coffee maker, kitchen utensils are few and uneven. There was no iron and clothesline to dry clothes. On the last day there was a breakdown in the water distribution, which forced us to move to an apartment on the ground floor, of worse quality than the initial one. It was not possible to use the pool because it was closed pending maintenance. Points in favor; the staff is friendly and very helpful, the apartment is cleaned daily and taken care of.
An experience not to repeat,
- xixamor (6/5): Good location - Hotel with wonderful location. Very nice Staff in the Reception. It needs maintenance!! Old furniture and old kitchen!! Good restaurants in the area! The room has a beautiful view over the Coast and the Sea!!
Preciosa zona!!
- K5085KZlisaw (10/5): Relaxing sagres. - Excellent hotel, fantastic value for money. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Cleanliness was top quality. Excellent value for money for such a stunning location. Will be all back very soon for the 3rd year running!!!!
- vivekgokarn (10/5): Rooms with beautiful views - Lovely views of the lighthouses and sea from the room, spacious room, nice veranda, very quiet stay, smiling friendly staff, good location all restaurants and sightseeing spots within easy reach by car or walk, ample parking.
- SeaViewParker (6/5): Purposeful - The room was very spacious and was tidied every morning. The breakfast was functional. The staff were friendly. There was off road parking. We had a pleasant time staying here although it was nothing to write home about.
- quatrofamilia (2/5): Pool terrace in desperate need of maintenance - The sun&pool terrace is so shabby that it can’t be used. The pool is dirty, the small pool is without water, tiles are loose, painting is falling off etc. Stay somewhere else if you would like to use a sun&pool terrace.
- 606dj (8/5): Wonderful location! - Had a great stay with a good room, everything one needs in a room including kitchen. Good polite and friendly service and a brilliant view. Swimming pool. Would definitely consider returning to this place in the future.
- michaelhZ6758XY (10/5): Excellent 3 star accommodation with superb view - Budget accommodation was spacious, spotless, great room heater and comfortable beds. We were in room 308, worth the extra few euros for the spectacular sea view.
Sagres has a pretty good grocery store, five minute drive, it had everything you needed, plus a little fast food restaurant.
We spent four days in this hotel and absolutely loved sitting on the balcony watching the sun go down.
- Krista (8/5): Clean and comfortable - Clean and comfortable older hotel with great staff service close to beach and fortress.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Easy stay in sagres - Clean and comfortable hotel with helpful and friendly staff. Great location with lovely views in an older hotel close to the beach, easy walk to fortress and all local restaurants.
- calgaryguy (8/5): Nice and Roomy - My wife and I stayed here for a week as part of a hiking tour. This is a really nice place. The rooms are suites and we had plenty of space to spread out. We overlooked the sea, which is always nice. We used the balcony on a regular basis. Each suite has a kitchenette, though we only used the fridge.
The hotel is at the top of a hill, and can be seen from quite a distance. That does mean a bit of a walk to restaurants, but that was fine with us. We were on a hiking trip, so we hardly noticed.
The rooms were clean and tidy. Breakfast was good: quite some variety from which to choose.
There is a pool which we used once, but it was not the best time of year for it.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay.
- AlanTheWalkingMan (6/5): Functional - My latest trip took me to the more remote area of Portugal. I stayed at the Navigator hotel.Although it may seem to many to slightly dated this hotel is very functional for a base to stay and explore the local walks and beaches. The rooms are very clean with a lot of space. There is a sitting room with TV, good and spacious toilet and shower/bath room. For those who might look to self cater there is also a kitchenette with fridge and cooker/microwave.The breakfast though are only continental style. There is a very good pool also with seating/loungers available.
- Alyssa788 (10/5): Peaceful,Spacious, and Reasonable! - Each apartment has a well-equipped kitchenette that included microwave and double hot plate. We also had a toaster which is not usually provided. The apartments are quite spacious and the two of us liked having a bedroom separate from the sitting area. The pictures are reliable as to the appearance of the room. We loved the view out to sea. We would sit on the balcony and be treated to a fabulous sunset every evening. Although the furnishings are not modern, I don't expect that when visiting a small village in Portugal. Restaurants are all around and easy walk to the beach and fishing pier as well as night spots. I couldn't ask for more!
- K5085KZlisaw (10/5): Portugal dreams - Excellent hotel. Fantastic accommodation. Very friendly staff. Cleanliness spot on! Affordable luxury! Beautiful spot for surfing, beach & pool fun.. Great value for families to explore sagres & surrounding areas.. Cordamma & zavell great surfing spots. Marietta near the hotel good for surfing & Sun bathing. Local restaurants are fantastic & plenty. The marina is very close by & worth visiting .
- KATHLEEN (8/5): Hotel stay at the southwest corner of Europe - Our stay was very good. The reception staff were helpful when we were arranging emergency service to our vehicle. I'm not sure why everyone we saw at breakfast had a prepaid meal - I guess y6ou happened not to offer the inclusive rate. The hotel website lists a games room - there was no such thing, which causes me to reduce the overall mark a little
- Patrickamonaco (8/5): Second time and as good as the first one - We stayed at the Navigator for the second time. Our stay was excellent, as good as the first one. Staff is friendly and efficient. The room is large, clean and well equipped, offering small kitchen, A/C and Wi-Fi. The terrace offers you a great view, a plus for sunset!
Excellent value for money...we will come back!
- LadyFaygz (8/5): Exceeded our expectations - We came here for a chilled 1 week holiday and arrived very early hours and were met by a 24 hour check in, man was polite and helpful. When we got to our room we were delighted and impressed at the cleanliness of our room! Yes it is old and dated but we liked that old fashioned charm. Our rooms were cleaned every day to a very high standard and when we woke in the morning the sea view was breathtaking. Can not fault this place at all for a simple relaxing holiday where you are left alone and for the price of the rooms it really is worth it! Would certainly come again!!
- Damien (8/5): Great budget stay - Stayed for a week at the navigator to use as a base for a surfing holiday. Great location within easy walking distance of local supermarket, shops and restaurants as well as the stunning Sagres coastline.
We had a one bed apartment. Staff helpfully put an additional bed in the living room for us. Apartment was spacious - yes, a bit dated, but I wasn't there for interior design!
The staff of the hotel were consistently friendly, relaxed and helpful from the moment we arrived
- renato (8/5): otima localizaçao - OtimA , conhecemos belas praias e diversas cidades
- Siu (8/5): Nice view and location - Large room with nice view from the balcony. Good price.
- Cornelia PM (8/5): Great value for money (interior old) - Great location, yes the interior is old. I paid 38 EUR for a big room, living room and kitchen, so I would say this is great value for money.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Little bit dated but a Jewel and very economical - Parts of the building could do with a spruce up but the views are magnificent . Very clean , staff lovely and allowed us a late checkout. Walking distance to the town and beaches. It was significantly cheaper than any other hotel and I would rate very highly . The sunrise from the balcony is beautiful .
- jen (8/5): Basics for a great price - The hotel is nothing fancy, but you are in the most beautiful location. Walkable to everything including the beach. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
- Renate (6/5): Good location for a tired hotel - The location was very good and our room had great views of the lighthouse and Cape Vincent. The beds were the worst we had ever slept on. The rubber sheet wrinkled and your just hurt and felt bruised. The light in the bedroom was so dim a flashlight was needed to see in the suitcase. We stayed 2 nights and there was a kitchen but no dishcloth or soap to wash your dishes. They said the guest provides that. Service is indifferent.
- Haris (8/5): Nice hotel - Nice hotel on the cliff close to the beach with a fantastic view.
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptionally clean and great views - We would definitely stay again. Like others mention, the decor is outdated. But it's very well maintained and comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly. Spoke very good English which was a big help. It's located within walking distance to the beach and to local shops. Including two small grocery markets. The hotel breakfast was just right. The views from our room were stunning. We could see the ocean, including the beach. Along with views of the town. Which is a quiet community even for the middle of summer. Hiking trails are just across the street and bring you to gorgeous views of the ocean. It is a little far from the airport, but totally worth the drive or shuttle ride. Wifi worked like a charm without issue. Overall, very happy with our stay.
- Carol (6/5): Great location and view but it's very old - Great location and amazing views from the room/hotel but it's very very old building
- George (10/5): A brand new experience - We had the greatest time of ouf lives, relaxed, never ever been so chilled and relaxed 20/10
- Roger (6/5): A jagged hotel. Ok - Good spot great staff but tired looking aparthotel and doesn't compare to tbeapartenents next door, Sagres offen windy was flat calm and boiling in June 17 . Lots of local places to eat but still a. It algarvish not the true Portugal if that's what you're after. Cape v ticks the box but full of coach parties
- Verified traveler (10/5): Convenient, clean property with a great view. - The Hotel is located in the middle between the flippy surfer side of Sagres and the fishing harbour. Sitting on top of a hill with a magnificient view to both sides.
As a matter of fact, sitting on a hill also means steep climbs - but that's just what the Algarve is loved for anyway.
