We understand that the technicians were not working over the weekend but this problem was active before our occupation of the unit.

• Dasen (5/5): Location is the only good thing - The location is the only good thing about the hotel. I liked having a room with a view of the ocean and walking across the road to the promenade. The Palace was one of the nicer hotels on the beach in the 80s and 90s. When I stayed here in 2018 it was really good so I decided to come back. It has really deteriorated in the last 7 years in terms of general maintenance. The cleaning could also be improved - the fridge in my room had old food left by a previous guest. I think the hotel needs a shutdown for a complete refurbishment to bring it back to its original standard.

Rooms are comfortable and there is a parking garage n the building for guests' vehicles. Good air-conditioning and wi-fi. Staff is friendly and helpful. Housekeeping control is bad. Forgot to replace towels twice. The linen is tired, but clean. Bathrooms uncomfortable with shower over the bath and towel rails & paper holders generally falling out of the wall. Replacing baths with showers would change the experience. room 602

Only one lift working about 50% of the time. Had to use goods/maintenance lift once. External wall broken outside window on 11th floor - Dangerous to passers by. I killed a cockroach on the bedroom floor. Towels, bathmat not replaced one morning. Only one towel available that day. Extremely noisy (Staff ?) from 5am. Sometimes earlier.

• Marina (10/5): Felt as i was staying at home with friendly and helpful stuff - I liked the way stuff accomodated us with all possible needs. I did some mistakes with booking, they sorted it out. Every day someone was coming and cleaning our room to the best standards. I forgot my cosmetic bag and came back in 5 hrs time to collect it . I felt as at home . Could also cook and enjoy fantastic view. We also enjoyed a reptile show and spa on yhe 5th floor. Parking facilities are good and convenient. And it’s reasonably close to Ushaka Marine World. I loved everything about this hotel. Nothing

The day we didn't go we could see the kids from our room. The stuff was lovely. The breakfast was delicious. As a plant-base person the menus/meals did not really cater for us . Nothing 4 star about it. there are better hotels with the same price range - There hotel is very old, the furniture looks like it has been there since 1994. there is nothing to like about it The air conditioning is those old ones that have one controller for the entire apartment as a result the "main bedroom" was not getting cooled while the other rooms were freezing The restaurant is horrible... One time we got served rotten food and there waany even an apology. The stuff doesn't seem to know what's going on and are not trained There was mould growing on the shower ceiling. The chairs had rust. The couch had bed bugs... The room service comes knocking at 8 to collect towels so she can wash n return them so the towels are old. This hotel is not 4 star maybe it was buy not anymore.

• Senzo (2/5): Very poor - The location close to the beach and uShaka Marine The room allocated first of all it was a paraplegic room, lights not working by the lounge side and we were told that they know about it and it was okay fir them while we pay for the facilities to be working perfectly fine. That was room 1805. The extractor fan in the bathroom never worked and it was smelling pretty bad. Balcony was never cleaned and the patio chair never wiped or cleaned.
• Jabulile (8/5): It was not bad, the stuff made it worth the stay.. - 1.The property’s location is nice,it is close everything and everything is in walking distance to everything. 2. The hotel staff was always friendly we had Zanele was our cleaner and she has amazing and a young called Nosipho and the restaurant at Pesto always so friendly and served us with the smile. 3. We arrived early before the check in time and we got assisted very quickly and we got a room early and that was THE BEST THING THEY COULD DO. 4. I like that when you check out they can keep your luggage for you for the rest of the day until later on at night free of charge. 5. The common area( the 5th floor) is amazing and you have access to it the whole day. 6. The pool is great too. 1. The blankets that were kept in the wardrobe didn’t smell nice, the need to be washed every time guests leave. 2.The blinds on the second room with the twin beds was not working well, it had a burnt spot and wasn’t working and made the room full. 3. My bookings include breakfast, they don’t have a breakfast buffet but they gave us a budget of R130 per person but you have to pay a Vat of 15% with your meals so basically everyday I had to pay after eating breakfast. 4.they usually gave tea/coffee sachets everyday after the cleaning but this time they only provided it once on the day of your arrival and when I inquired the said they it’s a self catering hotel.. they don’t provide them anymore. 5. We booked for Christmas week and we were not told about it as guests and when we went for breakfast were not rushed to finish as they were preparing for the lunch, it was not a nice feeling having to be rushed to finish your food. NB: I have stayed at The palace 4 years again and they were a lot of changes with the system, which could have been communicated before we get to the hotel. It’s a nice place but I don’t think I’ll be coming back.
