Guest Reviews
- Patricia (6/5): - The room was even smaller than it looked in the photos online. Wish it had a bathtub.
- helen (6/5): - very well situated near Notre Dame
- Derek (10/5): - Staff was very courteous and professional. The location was ideal for visiting many sites.
- Edward (10/5): - All in all delighted with this hotel. Two little issues in the bathroom, the door at the bottom could do with painting and the shower need replacing/descaling as water was coming out at angles
- Balarajan (8/5): - It’s a neat little hotel and just like any places in Paris, the hotel room is small but it’s cozy. They had a nice big TV and I wish the bathroom door can close properly.
- JANET (10/5): - This is a boutique hotel in a perfect location for visiting the renovated Cathedral of Notre Dame. The breakfast is good, and the staff are professional, knowledgeable and helpful!
- Juan Pablo (10/5): - My favorite place to stay in Paris. The beds are so comfortable! And definitely have the breakfast. Really good.
- thomas (8/5): Paris - Great area
- Marisol (6/5): - We were assigned the room in the very first floor. It was advertised as being the biggest room they have which we appreciated. However, we were a little concerned about the noise in the lobby, late night check ins or noise from the queer bar right across the small alley. Our window was facing the bar. Thankfully, my husband and I slept with a white noise machine to block any potential noise. The carpet could’ve used some vacuuming. Although the bathroom was huge, it is a handicap bathroom so no shower. The whole bathroom was wet. From outside the hotel looks nice but very plain when you walk in. The pros, plenty of nearby restaurants, they arranged taxi service for me, we only stayed one night, and they had a wonderful seasonal market steps away from the hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Room was Cozy & Comfortable - The room was cozy and had a very comfortable bed. My only suggestion would be to get an ironing board. I was able to get an iron but there was no ironing board. The staff was very curteous and knowledgeable about the area.
- Ann (8/5): - The room was an average size for Paris, ideally located, clean and staff very friendly and helpful.
- Maria (10/5): - Unbeatable location at the heart of Paris. The room was small but comfortable. Staff were helpful. Great value for the money.
- Violaine (10/5): Lovely hotel in a fantastic location - Such a lovely hotel, in a brilliant location. The service was exceptional from start to finish, with friendly and attentive staff. The rooms, and the beds in particular, were extremely comfortable, offering a perfect retreat after a busy day in Paris. Being so centrally located, it was easy to walk to many of Paris’ iconic sights and to a great selection of restaurants, yet the hotel itself remained a peaceful and relaxing haven. Highly recommended.
- Shaun (10/5): - Hotel and staff was awesome. Property was well maintained. Would stay here again! Don’t let poor reviews scare you!
- Sarah (6/5): - Very friendly staff, came to fix a curtain and a leaky shower. Very small bathroom but did the job
- Catherine (10/5): - Amazing
- Ruoyang (8/5): - Excellent location close to Notre Dame, Metro station and a lot of dining options, staff are very friendly and helpful. Conditions are bit old and cleanliness can be improved a bit.
- Christophe (10/5): - Beautiful hotel in a great area
- Verified traveler (8/5): Romantic stay in the Latin Quarter - Great location with plenty cafes and bars within 2 blocks. Our room was on the top floor with 2 windows offering a charming rooftop view. Front desk is 24/7 and ease of check in and out was very appreciated.
- Robert (8/5): - Location was excellent
- Dana (10/5): - Love the location. Bed was super comfortable. Checkin was easy.
- david (10/5): Great location - don't pay for early check-in! - Great location. A bit rich to offer to charge us £38 to check into the room before 2pm, even though the room was ready when we arrived early. This felt like exploiting the situation to make more money from hot, weary tourists
- Sylvana (10/5): - Very welcoming. Small but thoughtful rooms. Appreciated the air con as we were there during a heatwave.
- JENNIFER (8/5): - It good for one person, clean and friendly
- Joanne (10/5): - Perfect location for everything
- Edward (10/5): - Small but cozy and excellent service.
- Angela (8/5): - Had a nice stay, great area, easily accessible to metro and dining. There seems to be a bar or club across the street which got noisy at night. Other than that, staff was very friendly.
- Danielle (8/5): - Great location, friendly staff. All you need!
- Natalia (10/5): - Nice hotel
- PATRICIA (6/5): - Besides been in a good location , having many places to eat and a clean , but small rooms expected for Paris , friendly staff, the rooms in this hotel have a Pub right in front of the rooms so is very loud , people smoking outside screaming .. horrible … just for this I would not recommend this hotel, besides that very well located, metro near by .
- Christi (10/5): - This is in a quiet medieval section oof town at St Michel. Easy to get everywhere
- Ana (10/5): - Great location, friendly staff at a reasonable price.
- donna (10/5): - Great location in the Latin Quarter. On a small street, which actually got kind of noisy in the evening, so a room on a higher floor may be quieter.
The room itself was a very nice size, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was great, lots of hot water. There was nice carafe of water in the room when I checked in, along with a couple of nice chocolates on the pillow! There is an elevator in the hotel, but it does require you to go up a couple of steps to get to it but it's not too bad. Everyone that I had dealings with there was very pleasant and helpful. If you take the RER to or from the airport, you can access it a half a block away, Rue Xavier Privas (I think is the street) and this entry has an elevator that makes it easier to transport luggage up and down to the train. I can totally recommend this hotel, a lovely spot for a reasonable price.
- Kim (10/5): - Lovely staff, very quick to help however they could
- Evan (10/5): - Spent 6 nights at Le Clos de Notre-Dame, and really enjoyed it. It is a small boutique hotel in the heart of the Latin Quarter. Close to major attractions and the metro. For the location and what you get I found it great value for money. The room was cute, a bit on the smaller side, but I have stayed in much smaller rooms in other cities. The room was comfortable, but you are staying here more to enjoy and explore the city, and the hotel delivers on that.
- Juan Pablo (10/5): - What a fantastic building and location. Love the secret well in the dining area.
- LAUREL (8/5): - Pros:
Super great location near the Seine, Notre Dame and Sainte Chappele and a metro. Free coffee in the morning, very pleasant staff. Helpful with recommendations and communication. The Italian restaurant right next door is fabulous. Hotel is priced well, some interesting history (find the well and secret passage way)!
Cons: loud from street below at night, lobby is very small and not comfortable, the rooms were the smallest I’ve experienced yet but some good storage options on windows sills and closet. Breakfast didn’t look worth 14 euros.
Overall: we would stay there again for the location, friendliness and the price. We
- Mahendra (8/5): - Bathroom should have exhaust fan. Rest was all OK
- Lindy (10/5): Cute. Quirky and Fab Location - Love this hotel. Its in a brilliant location close to the Seine and Notre Dame. Loads of lovely places around to find nice eats and drinks. The street itself is super quite and the hotel is lovely. The staff are supper helpful and the rooms are unique. Would stay again and again!
- Chris (8/5): - Great location. Everything at your fingertips. Staff was friendly. Rooms on the small side but you're missing the point of a hotel like this if you aren't out enjoying what is just outside the door.
- mark (2/5): - The hotel needs to be professionally cleaned - my room had mold in the walls - it’s so unfortunate because it could be a cute boutique hotel - but so dirty!!!
- Andrea (10/5): - This hotel accommodated my 91 yr old mother who walks with cane with Room One. Perfect 1st Floor off lobby with walk in shower. Very kind, patient and helpful!
- Mark (10/5): - Very unique property which is ideally located for touring Paris. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely return to this property.
- chad (8/5): Great Location!! - Small but lovely hotel. This is a great spot to stay. Close to the subway (Metro) and easy access to all the wonders of Paris. Short walk to the Louvre and Notre Dam. Great Italian restaurant next to the hotel and great restaurants in the area. We would recommend this hotel! Lovely staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good quality small hotel - The hotel is excellently located right by restaurants, cafes, independent shops etc and for the location vs other offerings the price is excellent. The rooms are not very large by general standards but perfectly adequate. Water is hot and good pressure. Tvs in rooms with Youtube and many channels included. The front desk was always manned as far as we saw and staff were friendly and helpful. Our only complaint was the kettle not working and there were a couple of less clean items - stain on bedsheet, a little dusty
- Mychelle (10/5): - Lovely small hotel within spitting distance of the Saint Michel fountain but on a pedestrian side street so lovely and quiet.
Really nice room, air con (c.34° when we were in Paris) was fabulous and nicely appointed bathroom.
Perfect for our 1 night layover
- Mark (10/5): - Hotel is ideally placed. There is a Metro Station (St Michel) / RER train service to Charles de Gaulle Airport from the station starting from 05:18. Tickets cost 11:45 €.
Notre Dame is a 5-10 minute walk from the Hotel and there are many great eateries to choose from in the vicinity.
The staff are the hotel are very friendly, helpful, professional and efficient.
Highly recommended.
- Jacy (10/5): - Amazing stay
- Jamie (10/5): - Great location! We stayed here last minute as our flight was canceled!
- Patricia (8/5): Normandy Adventure - If you are looking for a perfect location in the Latin Quarter, this is it. The restaurant next door is great and so close. Very quiet
Now as to why I only chose 3 stars. Staff was very welcoming and accomodating. However, I booked 5 identical rooms for multiple family members. Besides being a couple all the other 4 rooms were single adults. The reason I say this is that the room I was given was tight for 2 people versus the one for my sister with added seating area space. It was a crazy busy trip and only stayed here 2 days.
TV's did not work in 2 rooms and 1 for my brother did not have one. Banister on stairway loose, almost fell. Key cards quite working. Blow dryer barely worked on cool setting, niece requested one from the front desk. I mention these things, as all minor and we weren't in our rooms long enough to matter.
But all of these things start to add up and are really an easy fix. Family was satisfied, I being the tour guide was not. felt it reflected on me for choosing. would I stay again, absolutely, but would not take the small room knowing there are larger ones for a couple.
- Leslie (10/5): - well maintained and a professional staff. very courteous, helpful & efficient
- LAURENCE (6/5): - good location, but a lot of broken things
- KARENA LEIGH (10/5): - THE STAFFF WAS VERY HELPFUL & FRIENDLY. THE STREET WAS FULL OF TRASH EVEN AFTER THE PILES OF TRASH AT THE END OF THE STREET WERE PICKED UP ON WEDNESDAY. THE BREAKFAST WAS AWESOME! I WOULD HAVE LIKED THE ROOM BETTER IF THE KLEENEX WAS STUCK TO THE BOTTOM OF THE BATHRROM SHELF. DID NOT PROVIDE ENOUGH SPACE FOR 2 GUEST'S TOILETRIES. i WILL STAY HERE AGAIN.
- Kimberley Isabelle (10/5): - Staff is great, speak good English, very flexible with check out!! Rooms were on the tad small side but area around hotel was amazing so no reason to be in the hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): Enjoyed our stay at Hotel le Clos de Notre Dame - Great location! Staff always king and willing to assist with anything. Loved the cafe Le Rive Gouche close by. Close to many other cafe's and restaurants within a short distance and very close to the Metro making it very easy to get around Paris.
- HILERY (6/5): Tiny - This hotel was difficult to find with our Uber since it’s in a pedestrian only street. At first they gave is the tiniest room ever although we paid $375 for one night, and there were narrow winding stairs to go up to get to the elevator and our room. We travel to EU a lot, but this was by far the smallest room. They gave us a slightly better room, but it was still tiny. The night manager was sweet and brought fresh croissants and made us coffee, but the breakfast was very minimal. This was our last night in Paris after spending 5 nights near the Eiffel Tower and 5 in Nice, so it was disappointing
- Jacqueline (4/5): - The property was fine, and very ideally located in the center of Paris in a quiet spot. The downside was that the staff were less than helpful with information/calling taxis; no interest in making the customer experience a positive one!. Also, there was literally NOWHERE for my clients to meet with each other. The rooms were postage stamps with NO ability to sit other than on a bed. There was no lobby, and the breakfast room was more of a storage closet than a room to sit with coffee comfortably. And no shower door on the shower meant EVERYTHING got wet during a shower.
- Joanne Claire (10/5): - Well, what a find! Having been to Paris three times, and stayed in other hotels in the Latin quarter, this was the best yet! As most Parisian hotels are in buildings not designed as hotels, often rooms can be "compact". We found our room to be a decent size, room 21, twin room perfectly big enough for the two of us, and a great bathroom well stocked with toiletries. Beautifully decorated, and so quiet at night, we slept better here than anywhere we had tried before. The location was perfect, right in the heart of the Latin quarter, but set back down a quiet alley, we heard absolutely no road or people noise, but you literally fall out the door in the morning into the hustle of Paris! We stayed room only so can`t comment on the breakfast, but the staff we encountered on reception were lovely, including the cleaning staff. We were offered a welcome drink on arrival, very welcome after plane and train travel, a nice touch. The Hotel is spotless and full of character, including the escape hole under the building that a King of France used to escape under the river Seine! We absolutely will return here on our next trip. Thank you for such a pleasant stay Hotel le Clos!
- Megan (8/5): - Location was fantastic. Compact room provided clean and necessary amenities.
- Mary (10/5): - This is a lovely small hotel in a fantastic location, with high quality beds, linens, and amenities. Our twin room on the first floor was small, and the bathroom was smaller, but we were quite comfortable and had excellent air conditioning. The front desk staff was welcoming, kind, and generally spoke English. They were even able to loan us a couple of items we had forgotten. The hotel is in a small alley (rooms facing the alley might hear some noise in the morning) less than 1 block away from St. Michel plaza. Multiple dining options and super easy access to the 4 Metro. Highly recommended.
- Susan Joan (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay here. Hotel in a great but quiet location, 5 min walk to Notre Dame, restaurants, supermarket, bars nearby. Also RER 2 min walk but works being carried out on our visit so closed. Taxi, flat rate of 37€ from Orly airport to Hotel, approx 25 mins.
The reception area very welcoming, staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
There is a lift just off reception.
The rooms are small, but everything you need and clean. A/C excellent, bed very comfy, safe, tea/coffee facilities, shower great with toiletries provided too.
Continental breakfast, great selection, a big thank you for the vegan breakfast that I requested, delicious homemade cake, and reasonably priced at 12€
Highly recommend this Hotel
- Tom (10/5): - The hotel is well situated and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are quite small without room to even open the suitcase on the floor and the bathroom doesn't have enough surface to place your items, but within those constraints it was a good experience.
- Ronuk (6/5): - Very central location. Attractive decor and art.
However there were dirty cups from the previous guest in the cupboard, and a half empty bottle of water.
I understood there was to be a half bottle of champagne as a welcome gift but I never saw it in the room.
There was a kettle plugged in, but no tea bags, coffee, cups etc.
Bathroom was nice but could be improved with a place to put your own toiletries.
When paying the city tax on departure, the change was not forthcoming and I had to ask specifically for the 20 cents. I felt that I was being inconvenient by requesting the change but I needed it for the metro.
- Jeremy (10/5): - This hotel was exactly what we were looking for. Obviously not the biggest rooms you've ever seen, but we needed a bed and a bathroom and that was it. It was clean, very nicely decorated, the staff was very friendly and was in a great location! I would definitely stay there again.
- Jonathan (10/5): - Single person travelling over November 2021. Great price for location (just down the street from Notre Dame), staff was amazing. It is small/cozy but expected for price and given it is a large city where square footage is a premium. No view form the windows, but just step outside and tour Paris, views everywhere! Metro stops are right there, so for location it was amazing.
- Jamie (10/5): - Perfect location. Perfect hotel.
- suzan (10/5): Charming hotel is fantastic location - This was a quaint hotel nestled in the Latin Quarter. It was very charming and is a historical landmark. Great location and great service. Rooms are typical of Paris, perfect enough to lay your head at nighy. Highly recommended. I will be staying here again next time I'm on Paris!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I am so glad I found this place. It is essentially a hole in the wall, but in the best way possible. It's located on this tiny side street that has a small restaurant and a bakery, up three stairs one way and you are in the heart of Saint Germain, with a 3-5 minute walk to the Ile de la Cite. Not only was the location close to Notre Dame/Saint-Chapelle/Saint-Michel, but many areas around for public transportation to go further. The Hotel itself was quaint and cozy. To a well seasoned traveller it was a perfect example of European lodging. Smaller* rooms, with large open-out windows, and a spiral staircase (elevator as well). It was the perfect place to rest our heads. The staff was as kind as could be and wouldn't let us leave without wishing us a good day. Breakfast had all it needed, including fresh croissants, pain au chocolat, and a baguette from the bakery across the alley. I would absolutely recommend, and look forward to staying there again very soon.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great little quiet side street
- Meredith (10/5): Small, compact, quiet gem. - This very compact little hotel is all you need when visiting Paris. It has the advantage of location - 2 minutes from the metro & RER stations (direct route from CDG airport), it's in the heart of the Latin Quarter and it is in a quiet little alley, so super quiet at night.
The rooms are tiny and compact, but comfortable. The bathrooms have nice showers but are also very small. The breakfast room has 4 small 2-person tables, but the breakfast choices are good. The staff were amazingly helpful when I contacted them in advance to ask about gluten free breakfast options, and bought in far too many options for me.
- John (4/5): - Very convenient location but room and toilet were not clean.
- Joanna D. (8/5): Good Choice - Ideal Paris location near Notre Dame and the Boul Mich — typically small Paris room, but comfortable bed and good value.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Our first impression was that the hotel was dim and gloomy. We were then shocked to find used beddings left in the staircase as we were entering our rooms. A few were given rooms with huge portraits which they found intimidating. But what was worst was that two room rates reported that there were bed-bugs in the room!!!
On return to the hotel after about a week (since I had paid for the room previously), we requested a change of room or for the room to be sprayed by insecticide first. Both requests were denied - there were no other rooms available and no insecticide in the hotel. So we had no alternative but to move to another hotel - all at our own expenses.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Our initial greeter was excellent. The next night and day we could not understand the greeters English. That was a bit difficult. The room was very small and there were some peeling sheet rock on the walls.
- Anne (10/5): - Perfect location, a great lesson of French history, an amazing staff for a wonderful experience
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked the location and the configuration of the hotel and room as well as the quality of bathroom.
- P (8/5): - The staff and service were excellent. Very friendly people and very accommodating. Unfortunately, a barely working TV (none of the English channels worked), a sink that never drained (had to be drained by staff every day), and an elevator that worked maybe 50% of the time resulted in a less than stellar stay.
- Annebell (10/5): - The location is perfect! The staff excellent and helpful. The rooms are cozy, quiet, clean. Everything was great
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The hotel was very dusty, carpet outdated and dirty
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely small hotel in a fantastic neighbourhood! Would recommend
- Ioana (10/5): Great boutique hotel close to everything - Me and my friend had an amazing stay at Hotel Le Clos de Notre Dame. Small boutique hotel close to everything. The metro station is right across the street. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The rooms are fairly small, but clean and welcoming. I would 100% stay here again, and recommend.
- J (6/5): - Not a lot of space and a tiny bathroom. If you wanted to use the sink you needed to keep the (sliding) door open. Whilst an excellent location, bijou and boutique, it was small and a little claustrophobically so. Never did get my welcome glass of champagne either
- charles (8/5): Really great value and excellent location - Just off the main square in front of the St Michael Fountain. Trains and subway right there
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location was very central. Quick walk from the metro and RER station. Lots of restaurants and shops all within walking distance and close to Notre Dame.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Expensive for what you get - Quaint location, but very small rooms. Booked a twin room for myself and a friend and the beds were pushed together. Paint was peeling off the ceiling, and tiles coming away from the base of the shower.
Breakfast was pitiful. No one to help - help yourself to a Nespresso type coffee machine with no instructions. Choice of a croissant or a dry piece of baguette or toast. Very basic for the price of the hotel.
We asked to have an additional room so my friend and I could have separate rooms. They said that there was one available on the 3rd floor but we couldn't check in until after 2pm, and that we would have to pay for it in full then. That was fine. But when we returned from our day out they said they didn't have a room and they were fully booked. Blatantly lied that they had told us they had a room. Shame - this place with a few tweeks could be so much better.
- Joseph (6/5): - The hotel is very nice and in a great location. However, we were put in a room off the lobby at street level. The AC wasn't working because it was October and it was supposed to be cold by then...huh?
The staff tried to be helpful, but were not overly competent, so were not as helpful as they should have been. Everyone we encountered there was nice and pleasant, but I got the feeling the place had just opened under new management and the folks were just feeling their way around.
The Italian restaurant next door, L'Osteria Del Passe Partout, is outstanding.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointed - The hotel appears to be under construction. Blow dryer didn't work. Room was quite small. There was a lot of noise outside. Dishes were not cleaned up timely at breakfast so you had to sit down at a dirty table. The place left a lot to be desired.
- stephanie (4/5): To avoid - the hotel is located in a small street, but the windows are above a bar/cafe so it was very noisy. upon arrival the main entrance of the hotel look like you've just arrive in a camping, there are cables on the floor, a small desk and it's not tidy, did not feel the price tag or the 3 stars of the hotel. our card was given but not the room number, that we had to asked about. then we went to the second floor, with half-stair to walk with our heavy luggage, then half-stair to go down when on the second floor. it's all half-stair in spiral staircase so not easy when you have large and heavy luggage.
then our card did not work, went back to reception, the woman did not know how to fix the card, so she came to open the room door while trying to fix our card (she did not had spare cards).
the room was ok, but way smaller than anticipated, you had limited space at the end of the bed to go on the other side, and had to be careful not to knocked down the tv on the wall, for which the remote did not work.
the windows were facing the street, and at night there is a bar, as the street is narrow, people are right underneath the window and it was very noisy.
the next morning, the staff barely say Hi, we did not know if they were making breakfast or not as nothing was mentioned upon check-in. then at night when we came back, the person at the front desk was again different, and not very friendly. Not a nice or comfortable feel. Left the next day, without asking us if we needed a taxi.
- Mariana (10/5): - This was a lovely place. We enjoyed the central location. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
- Michael (10/5): - Great location in vibrant neighborhood located just a minute from one of the major rail and metro stations. Also, if staying here, I highly recommend eating at the Italian restaurant next door to hotel. Some of the best Italian food I’ve had, and the owner is such a nice man who really gets to know his patrons.
- David (8/5): Good Hotel - Stay was good. Rooms are small but comfortable. Pillows smelled damp. Convenient to many attractions and Metro.
- Jorge (8/5): - convenient location steps to tourist St Michel area, lots of things to do
- James (6/5): - Great location, at a resonable price - except for the breakfast. If the breakfast isn’t included it’s 14 euros per person, which is the same price as 2 breakfast half a block away.
- Shannon P. (10/5): Great location with A/C - My 9 year old son and I stayed here and loved it. Most everything close by. We were able to walk just about everywhere. The room had A/C and everyone was so very nice and helpful. I will definitely return.
- Lewis (8/5): Loved it! - Hotel was in a great location, staff was friendly and very helpful. It was clean and nice. It was just very small. But that’s ok!
- Trevor (10/5): - Loved it. Great hotel close to everything. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Although we booked well in advance and reconfirmed before our arrival, we were informed the hotel is over booked and we were lead to another nearby (lesser) hotel which was not as good
- Jean-Mario (6/5): - Excellent staff, very quite, the room a little bit small
- Michael (8/5): Mike from Boston - Quaint hotel in a secluded alley off a bustling and fun neighborhood. Lobby is very unassuming and room was small but we didn’t go to Paris to sit in the hotel room. Staff was very pleasant and friendly.
- Greg (10/5): - Awesome place. Well centralized!! Staff is great, rooms are well equipped. I will make it my priority to stay here on my next visit.
