Breakfast at the hotel is very nice, with an above average selection of items. The staff was very helpful dealing with our delayed luggage, and providing directions and recommendations.

I was so irritated by the low quality stay, I actually left after the first night (booked for two) to book a stay at a nearby hotel.

• Alexandra (10/5): Great stay near Borough Market! - It was our first time in London and this was a good hotel choice because of the cleanliness and amenities. Upon check in we were able to chose our floor height and room view. Close to Borough Market and London Bridge. Our room was cosy, with a very comfortable king sized bed. Breakfast was excellent with a lot of healthy choices and americanos/cappuccinos included. Although we weren’t in the heart of London, we found most of the sites we wanted to visit were walkable.

• Reginald (8/5): - Hotel is near bus transit and a short walk to the tube as well. Very nice and quiet area. The hotel itself was nice. The staff were very helpful as well and it was convenient to have a bar/restaurant downstairs that was open late. My only complaints were the temperature in the room was rather warm (regardless of how low you set the thermostat). Also the one lift in operation was a bit of an inconvenience, but not too terrible. I’d also say that the room was clean, but could definitely use a deep clean for sure. Overall, I would stay here again.

• Richard (6/5): - There were problems at the hotel that impacted our stay. One elevator out of two was inoperable. The air conditioning in the entire hotel was not working on the first night of our stay. Our window blind did not reach the bottom of the window. We had an internal room overlooked by several other rooms so the only way to achieve privacy was to use the blackout blind. We were assigned an accessible room which we did not want but the were no alternative rooms available. I read previous reviews about the bed and how one side is up against the outside wall. To get out of bed one has to basically crawl over one’s partner and try not to fall off. Much more inconvenient than I had imagined. The staff were courteous and the common areas by reception were contemporary and enjoyable. Our room was very clean. Based on our two night stay we would not recommend this hotel but I think that timing was an issue that contributed to the problems we experienced.

• Gavin (4/5): - “A Shadow and a Stench Have Fallen Upon This Place” Four nights at CitizenM Bankside. Three rooms. And from the moment we crossed the threshold, it was as if we had entered Mordor by way of a train station loo. Both rooms carried the same unwelcome signature: the persistent odor of toilet brush holders clearly on a long, unbroken tenure. The climate control, set with hope at 20°C (68) refused to yield anything below 28°C (82). The air was heavy, unmoving — more Mount Doom than London in August. A fan was promised but, like the return of the King, never came. We were offered a room change, but the new room bore the same scent and heat, as if cursed. The iPad “controls” were little more than props in this drama, serving the role of magical talismans that, sadly, held no actual power. At checkout, they offered one free night — a gesture that seemed almost rehearsed, perhaps given often to travelers who endure the same fate. Later, when I requested a full refund, they declined, narrowing the whole affair to “an AC issue on the last night” while politely ignoring the matter of the smell. This place is marketed as 4-star, yet I can find no evidence of official accreditation from the AA or VisitEngland. I’ve reported the matter to both, and to Google, for review. If you seek a night’s rest, look elsewhere. But if you wish to undertake an endurance trial worthy of the Fellowship — complete with heat, odor, and empty promises — then by all means, CitizenM Bankside awaits.
• GABRIEL C (10/5): - Excellent choice. Only just one issue: not easy to find a parking lot close by
• Gregory (6/5): - Well, I’m not quite sure how to rate this hotel. The other reviews are correct- the temperature in the rooms is exceptionally hot. They gave us a fan for our second night and that helped, but you’d think that after many reviewers comment on the temperature, that they would try to fix this issue. The rooms are also quite bizarre (again mentioned in many other reviews). The bed takes up a third of the room and one person needs to climb over the other to get out of bed. The shower and toilet are located together and enclosed in frosted glass and not conducive to privacy. The sink is in the main bedroom area. The room feels more like a space shuttle pod than a hotel room, but we enjoyed our stay. The place is quirky for sure. The location is fantastic.
• Richard (6/5): - CitizenM is long on attitude but doesn’t always live up to the veneer. This property suffered a total breakdown in video service for my first day (about which the front desk was a bit clueless) and had one of two lifts out of service, which made waiting times often quite long. A request for a one-hour late checkout was met by the demand for additional payment (I declined). It’s slick and techie but felt lacking in genuine service and quality.

• Abdul Aziz (4/5): - It was meh and the layout of the room is a bit weird. to add, the sink was really smelly and my ac was not working which took two days for the hotel to fix. They had “fixed” it the same day however the cold air started to come on the second day. Also the bed had hair on and it the sheets did smell a little. Also very little ventilation in the room, so I had to order a fan. It was ok for once but I would not stay here again

Didn't have a chance to try their breakfast but it looked really good. The hotel is perfectly situated across the street from and M&S and Saint 9 Coffee (awesome).

I couldn’t fault the staff at all they were all extremely polite and friendly to me and my daughter. They all greeted you with a smile and were all helpful. I will definitely be returning for my other daughter’s birthday and I will now always stay here when I need to be in London. This hotel is also in a great location and has a real edge with their unique design.Thank you again CitizenM 🙂
• Corey (8/5): - Property was great, staff very helpful. Left our previously booked accommodation to come here, shared a king size bed with my cousin and was still a massive upgrade. Facilities clean, aircon room, great technology and amenities. Only downsides were aircon on lowest temp and highest speed didn’t really cool down the room enough, and unfortunately the elevator broke on our last day which is not the property’s fault, but we did have to drag our luggage down 5 flights of stairs.
• Jemelle (8/5): - Unfortunately, the hotel was down to one working elevator when I first arrived. Within the 4 days of my stay, the only working elevator also went out of service which meant taking the stairs 5 flights of stairs a couple of times a day. Very inconvenient and difficult after walking all day sightseeing in London. Hopefully, both elevators is up and running safely very soon. Fortunately, the hotel staff were kind and helpful during my entire stay. Shout out to Shani at the front desk for being so kind and helpful. Another staff member named Shaniah was also helpful and polite. Overall, I had a pleasant stay minus the inconvenience of no working elevators for the majority of my 4-day stay. I would still recommend this hotel because of it’s location, well-equipped room, nice lobby, and helpful staff.

Also, the bathroom is super small! You have to go over the other person to get in and out of the bed if there’s two of you.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Quirky and lovely, but maybe not for all - This is a lovely hotel with a beautiful lobby and quirky room features. The location was fabulous. The room temperature was very warm. We had the thermostat on the very lowest temp, but did not feel it ever reached the stated temp, nor felt any air flow the duration of our 3-night stay despite the fan on the highest setting. The toilet is visually private - you can see a shadow at most - but it is not sound-private. There is no vent/noise of any kind, so be very comfortable hearing even the slightest sound made at the toilet. No problem here with a small room but no option for the suitcase except the middle of the floor and moving it around the room throughout the day. Otherwise, we loved the lighting options, and the big bed was very comfortable. The service chat was unable to help us get the mobile app to work, and I think that would have been helpful.

• Juke (6/5): - This hotel is over-designed to the point of being counterintuitive. Signage is too clever for its own good and thereby confusing. The room had a very comfortable bed, but everything was controlled by an iPad - that didn't work. Breakfast offers a buffet with a good selection.

• Suzy (8/5): - Hotel was lovely however it would be nice if the cleaners didn’t start cleaning rooms over a weekend at 7:30am and onwards as it’s very disruptive when trying to sleep - especially considering you’ve paid for this. This happened both mornings to us and we struggled to sleep past as they were making a lot of noise and doors were slamming.

• Katy (6/5): - Positives: + Very large and comfortable bed. + Quiet room. + Good size television, with chromecast capabilities. We had a minor issue that required a staff member to enter our room to fix it (I blame Google and not the hotel for that issue!), but it only took a few minutes, and they compensated us for the inconvenience with free drinks at the bar. + The TV, lights, blinds, aircon and cleaning schedule are all easy to control from an ipad in the room. + Clean shower with good water pressure and temperature. + 24/7 bar, which serves food at all hours as well. + Nice cocktails! + Very close to the Tate Modern. Negatives: - The side of the bed near the window had no plug sockets, which was inconvenient and unexpected given how modern the rest of the hotel looks. We ended up sleeping on it sideways so that we could both reach our phone chargers. - At about 6 pm every day, the ventilation suddenly filled the room with the smell of weed for about 10 minutes. - The bathroom walls are translucent - creepy. - There was a book in the room called "Why You Will Marry The Wrong Person", which I found off-putting since I was travelling with my husband! - On check-in, we were able to choose which part of the hotel to stay in, e.g. high or low floor, quiet area, etc. Why isn't this done at booking instead? What if the room I wanted was taken by a walk-in when I'd booked in advance? And it just makes the check-in process take longer. - There was one staff member who was really over the top

• Nicholas (8/5): - Great location near south bank behind the Tate modern. Clean functional rooms that tick all the boxes other than no coffee facilities or water bottles. They are quite small but very comfy beds, good shower and good tech with an iPad that controls tv, room service, blind, music etc. Cool trendy bar and restaurant with arty vibe. Good value so would definitely recommend for a short stay.

• Noah (4/5): Absolutely NOT a four star hotel - Absolutely NOT a four star hotel. Should be two at most. Don’t get fooled by the lobby. No reception, very small room made of plastic. Toilets are basically in the shower, with the lavatory in the middle of the room (you read that right). Bottled water: in your dreams. Instead two plastic cup with a note telling you to sort yourself with the tape. The bed is literally wall to wall to window, which means that if your spouse has to wake up or go to the toilets, they have to go over you. Floor made of cheap linoleum. Check in, no early options, won’t even give you the keys before. And you better be there in person for the keys, otherwise your spouse is not getting the room, even with booking receipt and ID showing the same family name and the baggage receipt tag from checking in earlier. Had to argue for 20mn. No bathrobes provided, or anything. Never booking again.

• Ryan (6/5): - I really liked the single ipad to control everything, the lighting and overall general concept. Unfortunately, my shower had mold all around the top, the room was much smaller than expected with very little storage with some of the controls being pretty confusing to where I never figured it out (thermostat). I also requested for the room not to be cleaned the night before and they cleaned it anyways. The breakfast was mediocre for the price.
