• B9895DQandrewb (10/5): A stunning hotel in a perfect loaction. - Everything about the hotel exudes quality. The location is perfect, close to town but quite. Being on an island the balcony room offered fabulous views of the waterways and boats. The staff were amazing. We were given a heads up on the wild day of constitution day celebrations, suggestions on where to visit and best of all blankets to keep warm on the roof top while having a few late beers. The room design and quailty is exceptional and the food at breakfast and dinner were perfect. Can't wait to return.

• Anastasia (4/5): Best breakfast but choose the room time wisely - The breakfast is absolutely fantastic, that’s what made me stay in this hotel the second time. High quality dishes, great service during breakfast and decent coffee which is so rare even in luxurious hotels. Located in a beautiful neighborhood. Staff at the reception was helpful and friendly. Room service and cleaning were great. I was absolutely disappointed with our room. Paying almost 500 eur a night (with breakfast), it was very unpleasant experience that I doubt I will repeat. First, our shower was constantly leaking into the toilet so we had to wipe floors every time we took a shower. Second, the AC is not working properly in this hotel (now I know it for the fact, as during my first stay I had the same issue). It was very cold on the room, but I could not increase the temperature even asking the reception twice and following all their advices nothing had improved. Third, the room was extremely dark as it was facing a tall office building. We were fully aware that we will not have a sea view in the Superior double room, but it came as a surprise that it will be no view at all but instead seeing people in the office 3 meters away from our room. I do think the rooms with this view should be cheaper, because it does not feel good at all. Forth, room had almost no amenities except for useless shaving kit - again smth you just don’t expect in the room for this price, adding basic amenities in the room would show hospitality and that you care.

Stain on those fashionable pillows, dust on shelves or uncomfortable bed and flooring. Food often tastes bland and not fresh. But... This hotel is exception! Modern and at the same time clean and comfortable. Very good experience with them. Food was amazing.

The concierge service was particularly poor — they were unable to properly arrange even a simple taxi, which is a basic expectation for any five-star hotel. Cleanliness was also substandard, and the overall hygiene level was unacceptable for a property claiming five-star status. Considering all of this, we strongly believe this hotel does not deserve its five-star rating. It is absolutely not worth the price, and we would strongly not recommend staying here

From the moment you walk in, you can feel the unique atmosphere – the combination of modern design and an incredible art collection makes you feel like you're in a gallery, not your average hotel.

• ALWALEED (9/5): Great stay - In fact, it is one of the most beautiful and pleasant hotels in Oslo, Norway. I really liked how easy the check-in process was, as well as the cleanliness of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff. The hotel is located in a very beautiful and very safe area, and the breakfast is very diverse with excellent, high-quality service. The room’s view overlooking the lake is absolutely beautiful. Honestly, everything about the hotel is wonderful in every aspect. I liked it very much, and the rooms are lovely, although they are somewhat small; however, this is generally the standard in Europe. Overall, the hotel is good and clean, and I highly recommend staying there. There is no private parking owned by the hotel itself, even though it is a five-star property. However, the hotel cooperates with a parking facility located underneath the building, on the lower levels, but the cost is very high — approximately 550 Norwegian kroner per day. In my opinion, it would have been better if the hotel offered at least a discount for guests who have cars and use the parking regularly. From a personal point of view, five-star hotels are expected to provide the highest level of care for their guests, and paying around 550 NOK per day for parking is simply too expensive. The second issue is that there is no luggage porter service, as is usually available in some other five-star hotels. The third point, which really bothered me, is that the hotel charged 95 Norwegian kroner to my Visa card. When I contacted them to question this charge, they said it was taken by mistake for a toothpaste fee and that it had been refunded. However, until now, nothing has been returned to my account. This issue was very upsetting, and I hope they will refund the 95 NOK as soon as possible.

• PH120124234 (6/5): You pay 100%, but unfortunately you only get 90% value for your money. - The Thief is supposed to be one of Oslo’s best hotels, and you are certainly allowed to pay as if it is — but unfortunately, the quality only lives up to about 90% of expectations. This is one of Petter Stordalen’s pride and joy, but that does not help much when very simple things end up damaging both reputation and quality. The breakfast buffet is extensive and partly nicely presented, but when you go to the cheese section it is completely empty for 1.5 hours, and no one refills it. The only cheese available is half of a hollowed-out, unappetizing rind that clearly bears the marks of many hands having touched it. No thank you — not for me. Cold cuts should be arranged so guests can take what they want without touching everything else. This is a matter of hygiene. The evening before, we stopped by the bar for a nightcap before going to bed, and that also came with a surprise. The bar only had three types of red wine (which would have been fine), but the bottles were placed on a trolley in a warm room with a fireplace. I would guess my Pinot Noir was at least 23–24°C. That is basically mulled wine. The bartender explained that the bar is not equipped to keep wine bottles cooled, and that this has been a problem for a long time. A long time…! Petter Stordalen is a billionaire, yet apparently cannot afford a wine cooler for the bar at The Thief. The room also shows signs of lacking that little extra. The bed was not properly made, and in the bathroom there was a trash bin that had clearly been knocked around hard — it was covered in dents on the top and sides. And perhaps housekeeping could be taught that when placing two drinking glasses next to each other for a guest, they should at least be of the same type and size. As mentioned, it is the small things that are missing. On the positive side, the staff are friendly, welcoming, and helpful. You pay 100%, but unfortunately you only get 90% value for your money.

• annettemarie1965 (10/5): Perfect location! - Stayed at this hotel one night as we were only in Oslo one day/night - Love the location of this hotel - the small island it is on is quiet, yet full of amazing restaurants and bars - and some great shopping. Close to the Noble Peace Prize Center and other sites of interest - we could walk everywhere we needed to go from the hotel - felt very safe, busy but not crowded as it was more in the city - we ate breakfast at the restaurant and it was 10/10 highly recommend - amazing service and food - service at check in was also great - and we booked our car service through the hotel to the airport as well - as a side note prepare that it is not inexpensive for car service or beer in Norway!

All the staff who looked after us were excellent and professional. Our room was beautiful with nice touches like the gorgeous Tu and Dam Nordic toilettries, Home made chocolates and personal card. The 5 course meal was delicious with perfect portion sizes. Every course was memorable. We enjoyed the wine pairing, which included an English sparkling wine!. Breakfast is up there with the best Ive ever had in a hotel. Attentive service, perfect Eggs Benedict and well thought out buffet options. Enjoyed the views of the Oslo fjord on a cold and frosty New Years Day. And then there is the spa...its had a refurb since our last visit and was even more beautiful. Lovely warm pool with twinkly ceiling lighting, pots with sea salt and Natura Biss Vitamin C mask for the rasul room and lovely staff. Came out glowing and completely relaxed. Late checkout was no problem and the icing on the cake. We cant wait to return. Itis hard working NYE in hospitality so thank you to all the staff, well done for your top notch service
• SDHtraveller (2/5): False mini bar charges - BE AWARE - Received an invoice by email two days after a stay for mini bar charges for items we DID NOT take. All guests please be aware that either housekeeping or management are falsely making mini bar charges hoping these will go un-noticed. The NOK 155 charge is irrelevant, but the principle remains. Very poor form, from a hotel that pitches itself as a quality establishment.

• Chris (8/5): Good hotel, in a good location. - Breakfast was excellent, service impeccable, general ambiance was very good. Rooms were clean & tidy and all the staff members were very polite. There was no indication on the initial booking that the spa needed booking separately. When we tried to book the spa and pool the night before the staff member said it wasn't possible to do at that time. When we tried to book the pool & spa the following morning all the days slots were fully booked. We purposely opted for a hotel with a spa & pool facilities so were disappointed not to use them.

From the moment I arrived until the moment I checked out, every aspect of my stay at The Thief Hotel was nothing short of brilliant. ​My room was a perfect blend of comfort and style—impeccably designed, quiet, and equipped with every modern amenity you could ask for!. ​What truly elevated the experience, however, was the fantastic staff. They are the heart of this hotel. I was personally thrilled and incredibly touched when the receptionist Newa , presented me with a complimentary "booty bag" full of thoughtful goodies simply because she recognised that I was polite and kind when I checked on. This single gesture perfectly exemplifies the hotel's personalized, generous spirit. It’s a wonderful reminder that kindness genuinely pays off. ​The service throughout the hotel is brilliant. ​Finally, the food experience here is exceptional. Every meal I had, from breakfast to dinner, was utterly delicious. ​The Thief Hotel is a shining example of what a world-class boutique hotel should be. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I booked this hotel because it has a pool, which we could not use because it is for 18 y/o and older, no matter how well behaved your 12y/o is the hotel policy says no minors, that was not in the website.
• WOTHtraveller (10/5): Super stylish and cool - Honestly if you are staying in Oslo and want a great location then this is it. Situated on a little 'island' at the far end of the Aker Brygge harbour area, this is a beautifully cool and stylish hotel. The decor is elegant and the rooms are large with the comfiest bed I have ever slept in. We had dinner in the rooftop restaurant first night which was faultless and cocktails in the bar with the sunset behind. My favourite was the breakfast which had so many delicious options, cold or hot, one of the best breakfast buffets I have experienced. It's less than a minutes walk to the harbour if you like a morning swim and there are dozens of restaurants and cafes within 10 minutes walk. plus only 20 minutes walk from the train station for the airport. If you want to eat out then the little bakery opposite is fab but for lunch I'd recommend the restaurant at the Astrup Fearnley museum and evening the restaurants along the Bryggegangen have the best sunset options looking onto the harbour. Lekter'n is a fun place for cocktails or burgers. If we return we would 100% stay at The Thief, worth every penny.

She was so service minded that I would definitely come back to the thief because of her. The breakfast was amazing, but a long waiting line to get in. Not much choice at the area, but they had the most important that is needed for a good start of the day

• MaliFamily (10/5): A beautiful hotel in charming, peaceful location close to city center. - We enjoyed our stay a little off the beaten path from city center but easily walkable or accessible via public transportation. We loved the charming, quiet location by the water and close to great restaurants. Importantly the beds were comfortable, shower was hot, towels absorbent and room felt clean. Our favorite aspect of the Thief was the wonderful employees. They are friendly, helpful, gracious and professional. After a difficult day of travel, Isabella warmly greeted us at the front desk and the stress of the day melted away. She upgraded our room to a higher floor. We were very pleased. The following morning we were greeted by Sylvester in the restaurant. You can tell the man is a consummate professional. I enjoyed watching him as no detail went unnoticed by him. And his staff followed his lead. I commented how much I enjoyed the cozy table at which he sat us and he remembered to seat us at the same table on the following mornings. I ordered tea with honey and milk and the milk was warmed so it would not cool the tea. We were disappointed not to see him on his day off, but Sylvester’s colleague, Marika, took wonderful care of us. She knew to seat us at our favorite table. Because of the people and good food, morning breakfast became a routine to which we looked forward. We will stay at the Thief on our return to Oslo and will recommend to friends and family!

• rtwlee (8/5): It's just OK - How to describe our experience in The Thief? We weren't robbed 😂. I made reservation thru Amex FHR and the check in was a breeze and we got upgraded 👍 to a room with better view. The room was small like everywhere in Oslo. The pool was warm and very refreshing. Saunas were very dark and they made me uncomfortable. The breakfast was good, they serve a delicious berry juice. Patisseries were very good. We can order 1 item of menu and they serve an so so egg Benedict but there weren't many choices of flesh fruits. Dinner at the restaurant is so so. The service was good. So why 4 starts? It's because there's something off that I don't know how to describe..... Anyway, The Thief is the best option in Oslo so just enjoy.
