Guest Reviews
- Rocio (4/5): - Solo la ubicacion. Las instalaciones, habia mal olor en la habitacion.
- Donna (8/5): - Great location right on the lake and next to the historic downtown shopping area. Very quiet area and comfortable room.
- linda (2/5): Uncomfortable - Location Outdated with rusted sink and fixtures. Poor mattress and bedding. Very outdated
- Jana (10/5): - Beautiful view off of the patio. Fantastic little bakery around the corner and restaurants andshopping on the next block. Highly recommend.
- leah (8/5): - Location across the lake and free parking, 5 stars. Facility needs a makeover, 3 stars.
- Gregory (10/5): - Beautiful lake front views and walkable to shopping and dining options.
- Alayna (10/5): - Staff let us do an easy late check in! Room was clean, thermostat did not work but a beautiful stay with friendly staff!
- CHRISTOPHER (8/5): - Evertthing
- Catherine (6/5): Sufficient - The views of the Lake, proximity to town and the polite young lady that checked us in on 9/15/25 were the positives about this property.
Then there was the stain right outside our room door and more stains on the carpet as you entered our room, carpet was also pieced together in the second room, maybe from a bathroom leak or something, the security lock was damaged and unusable, just remove it or replace it, there was a stain on the sheets on the main bed, thankful we had a room with two beds and the second beds sheets were clean. Mattress also wasn’t the most comfortable. The bathroom had low counter tops and a low round toilet which clogged up twice on us. We also left before sunrise and there was no outdoor lightning. As I already mentioned, this hotel had a nice view of the lake. This was a sufficient one night stay, but I would not have been comfortable staying longer. Property needs some remodeling. I also think we paid too much, but my husband says we paid for the Lake View.
- Robert (6/5): - Far too expensive for the actual amenities...
- Jaroslav (9/5): -
- Sara (4/5): - The only redeeming thing about this place is the location. It's central in town and has nice views of the lake. Otherwise, it's outdated, bordering on decrepit. The bathrooms are particularly run down and my shower had a dead bug in it. And there doesn't seem to be a way to control the volume of the TV. I would not stay again.
- Leigh (4/5): Just an old run down motel - Bathroom was very small and outdated.
No coffee service whatsoever
No coffee in the mornings
The whole town looked old and rundown just like the. Motel Definitely needed coffee service
Especially in the morning
- 797denisr (8/5): Spectacular views of Grand Lake! - Gorgeous direct views of Grand Lake. While the motel itself is nothing special, it's location is lovely. The motel is a typical 2 story strip of about 9 rooms on each floor. No elevator. Free parking. Lobby opens at 9 am. There's a drop box for keys for early morning departures. Rooms are relatively clean. There are no safes in rooms, but they are equiped with microwaves & mini fridges. No restaurant or breakfast, but various eating establishments are an easy 1 block walk away in the center of town. Friendly staff.
- John (9/5): Othe wise Grand Lake and this motel are always a great place to go for a few days away !! - Third time we've stayed at this location. The price was right ... close to the lake and food .... a few of the pieces of furniture have seen better days. the desk where the coffee maker and microwave are located
are very sticky. the round table by the door is scratched and needs to be refinished or simple replaced.
- Stephen (8/5): Beautiful views in a charming town. - The location is the best thing about Riviera. It has wonderful views of the lake, and is walking distance to everything lakeside and downtown. The nearby bakery and restaurants are excellent. Parking is easy. The bathrooms are Tiny and dated.
- Gloria (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay! The view was beautiful! The staff seemed to be only one person and her name was Sam! She was very good and gracious! The room was adequate and rather dated but clean!
- Patricia (10/5): This is the perfect property for relaxing and enjoying Grand Lake. - Location is excellent. Perfect view of the lake. Loved the deck. Small property.
- Carolyn (8/5): - Quite different under nee owner/management. Less friendly and not appreciative of our 20 years of loyalty staying there.
- Guest (9/5): -
- Ruth (6/5): - Great location!! Handy to all the town amenities but outdated facility!!!
- Patricia (5/5): It was okay for a one night stay. - The location is excellent with a view of Grand Lake. Very walkable as hotel is located in the middle of town Little or no soundproofing between units or the floor above.
- Guest (5/5): Location is only their selling point - Location Clean and comfortable
- Adchsmack (10/5): Best place to stay in Grand Lake - Picked this place due to reviews. We weren’t disappointed!
Had a ground floor King room. Lovely view of the lake. Room was clean and big enough for the 2 of us. No AC, but I asked for a box fan at check in (they mention to request one in the email they send a few days before check in). We weren’t disappointed plenty cool enough at night! Towels nice and thick, we exchanged them the next day (no housekeeping service). Location was excellent, walking distance to everything. So once you park your car, you don’t have to bother with finding a spot in town!
Highly recommend!!
- Kellee (8/5): - Great
- Chase (10/5): - Perfect location for a young family with little ones. Right on the lake and couple hundred feet to beach/boat rental , icecream, park, great food/drinks. It’s not brand new and could use a little updating but it was cozy and great bang for the buck.
- DPfromColorado (8/5): All about location - This place is all about location. Lakeside rooms, all facing out, with lots of tables/chairs on the porch in front. Friendly guests (some appeared to be repeat visitors). Easy walk to just about anything in town.
On the other hand, the main room lighting was absolutely horrible. And in the room, there was only one very hard chair.
- Rebecca (4/5): Book someplace better when in Grand Lake! - We rented the apartment and it was on the second floor with no elevator. The hotel had no AC and it was not disclosed on the hotels amenities page. The room was clean enough but old fashioned, old smelling and dingy. The staff was a delight.
- Bill (2/5): - There is no AC!!. My wife and I were on our anniversary vacation from Texas to a beautiful location. We stayed one night with our window open and blinds open just to get a little air in the burning up room. Our room was at the top of the stairwell where everyone going up or down could see into our room, but if we would have closed the shades or window it would have been too hot even on top of the cover where we stayed. We could only stay one night even though I had booked four. The owner refused to reimburse any of my money. He actually said if I checked out by 10am and someone else booked it he would give some of my money back, but when I checked out before 10am they didn't even list the room on the sites. I am guessing they probably found a way to rent it and also take my over $1000 for three more nights. I feel like the owner is a con man! The room is truly ugly. ex: old green tile shower from the 60's... The view is beautiful, the staff is sweet and the location on the boardwalk is great, but in July it needs AC! It never advertised that it did not have AC like other places ex: YMCA hotel. Please do not fall into the same trap I did. It cost me over $1000 on my every five year anniversary with my wife to find out.
- Patrick (10/5): - Lake view of fireworks was incredible.
- Anonymous (7/5): Good - Location, comfortable bed, amazing views No AC, overpriced for value.
- Jeffrey (6/5): - Location was nice in town on the lake, walk to just about anything. Did not like window coverings that ket people see inside unless modified, slow draining tubes, windows that open for your air conditioning no way to keep so.eone from entering.
- Bradley Scott (8/5): - Good view of Grand Lake
- Renae (8/5): - Everything was great. We love staying at this place. The only concern we had was the parking spaces, the vehicles were tooooo close, ppl were banging cars when opening doors.. The rooms are usually really clean our suite could’ve used a lil more TLC, There were tortilla chips on the floor and hair left around the toilet bowl.. Other then those few things everything was great.. Staff is very friendly and welcoming.. We will definitely be back all summer and in the further future.. THE BEST PLACE TO STAY WHEN VISITING GRAND LAKE!!.. Enjoy your vacation everybody and safe travels..😊🌹
- Steve (10/5): - Location
- Hani (9/5): Superb -
- Anonymous (8/5): Lovely views across the lake. - The position next to the lake was beautiful. Nice to sit outside and take in the view. The room was very dark even with the curtains drawn back. The bath was very slippy even with the few grippy strips in it. You had to be very careful getting in and out.
- Sarah (10/5): - Excellent location right on the water. Older but very well kept and clean.
- Karen (10/5): - Room was adequate with a comfortable bed and table and chairs. Loved the blue tile bathroom! Location is amazingly quiet and the view is spectacular! No a/c though and even with the windows open there is almost no airflow. They provided a fan but we really needed 2! Steps away from the shopping area. I highly recommend!!!
- Sherri (8/5): Views - Great location. Amazing views!
- Christine (10/5): - Wonderful location. So peaceful and walkable
- 139lanie (10/5): Cozy cabins, beautiful lake views, and a laid-back vibe—great spot for a quick getaway. - Stayed at Western Riviera Lakeside Lodging recently and it was great. Perfect spot right on Grand Lake with awesome views. The cabins were really comfortable and had everything we needed. Staff was friendly and helpful, and it’s close enough to town to walk to restaurants or shops. Overall, it was a super relaxing stay—I’d definitely go back.
- Clare (9/5): Superb - location was perfect quiet and relaxing
- Karen (8/5): - We had stayed there before, the first time the room downstair was very stuffy. This time we were staying upstair, the room is better and not stuffy.
- Amora (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linda (10/5): - Beautiful view of Grand Lake! All rooms face the lake. Easy walking distance fom downtown shopping & resturants.
I would definitely stay here again.
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): - Great place and affordable.
- Kevin (9/5): Superb -
- ellawX8225AZ (2/5): Avoid at All Costs – Misleading, Noisy, and Poorly Managed - This place is advertised everywhere as a “hotel,” but in reality, it’s a run-down motel—and they even admit that on-site.
Our nightmare started at check-in. We arrived at the listed 4 PM check-in time, only to find the front desk closed with a sign saying “out of office, on site.” We waited in our car until 4:40 PM, but no one showed up. Since we had plans, we left, hoping to check in later. We returned at 7:30 PM (just 30 minutes before the latest check-in time of 8 PM), and the front desk was already completely closed. Instead of a proper check-in, they left an envelope in an unlocked lockbox with our room key inside, meaning literally anyone could have taken it.
Then came the room itself. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by a half-drunk tequila bottle on the floor—so clearly, no one even bothered to clean properly. The motel was incredibly old and run-down, and it only got worse from there.
The noise levels were unbearable. All night, the heater banged, our neighbors’ TV blasted until midnight, and even after that, we could clearly hear loud snoring through the walls. To make matters worse, the fridge wasn’t even cold and made a high-pitched ringing noise all night. Just when we thought it couldn’t get worse, at 5 AM, we were woken up again by the thunderous footsteps of the upstairs guests.
And despite all of this, they still had the nerve to charge $110 for one night. The motel falsely boasts a “lakeside view,” but (through no fault of theirs, but still worth noting for winter travelers) the lake was completely frozen and covered in snow, so that “view” didn’t exist.
We got out of there as fast as possible the next morning. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else.
- Lyndal (6/5): - We loved the location of the property. It is close to the water and restaurants but we were not warned about all the road blocks around the property the day before when I contacted them for late check-instructions. We arrived after 8pm on a Friday in the dark and there was no mention of the event in town or that we would not be able to reach the property to park. Communication was poor and the arrival was stressful. There was also no map of where to find our room, which we later discovered was on the 2nd floor. In future, please notify guests on any complications in getting to the parking lot for the property and of your winter hours (8am-8pm) in advance for planning purposes.
- Courtney (10/5): - Appliances in the room were a little loud when trying to sleep and sound from second floor above carried and was a bit loud.
- Ronnie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great for group of friends - Our hockey team comes every year for the Grand Lake Pond Hockey Tourney and this was a great place for us to stay!
- Skinner (9/5): Very nice - Quick pleasant service. Got my quiet upstairs room. All very nice All was good
- Shontelle (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and the price is great. Room was clean and warm. Staff very friendly. I’ll be staying here again.
- Hengjie (10/5): - We visited in winter and it is a very nice hotel with nice lake view. Easy late check-in. Cozy stay. The staff is friendly.
The only issue we had is that the heater is making some small cracking sound when on. Hope this could be improved.
- Vana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bethany (9/5): Superb -
- Hatem (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danielle (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was excellent and helpful. The location is perfect and beautiful!
- SANDRA (10/5): - Great reception! Beautiful view.
- Patricia (8/5): - Easy to get into RMNP early. Afforable and parking right across from my room although parking spaces were tight. Really lovely setting and easy to take a walk along the shore of Grand Lake.
- Debra (9/5): Superb - Perfect location Need a stopper in the bathtub.
- Shirley (9/5): Just wanted to enjoy the last of the color. Spent a lot of time on the balcony!!!!! - The close view of the lake. Had a grill. Very friendly staff. Good beds and pillows. Great parking. For the price, there was nothing I didn’t like.
- Patrick (8/5): - What a great lake view!
- Carol (10/5): Would come here again - This is a great location. On the water, right in the heart of town, easy parking and nice staff.
- Dennis (8/5): Wonderful fall stay - The location is excellent right on Grand Lake. Very convenient for walking to the shops and restaurants. Grand Lake takes great care of the town. We had noise neighbors one night leaving their TV on late and loud.
- Marsh (10/5): Exceptional - Nice view. Close to shops and restaurants. Friendly staff.
- Joyce (7/5): Good -
- kevin (10/5): Zillion $$ Views and Location+++ - Faboulous lakeside, mid-town location. Splendid views.
Check In was easy and the manager is very friendly.
It is an older building and the rooms are plain. Sink, toilet, bath/shower is dated. Note: It was a VERY clean room. The heater worked quite quickly when I turned up the temperature. Parking is reseved for guests and in front of the building in plain sight. Food and drinks are a short walk away. I would recommend 'Riviera'to my friends.
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional -
- billd399 (10/5): Fantastic view, great staff and very comfortable. - This is an older property but very well maintained. There are only 2 floors, but no elevator. They did offer to help me with my luggage. We had a suite on 2nd floor with the absolute best view of Grand Lake. I sat outside my room for hours taking in God's glory. Very good internet. No A/C but at over 8600 feet, it's not needed. Each room has floor heaters. I only used the bathroom heater during a shower in the morning. The office staff was very helpful before and during our stay. We stayed 3 nights and while they don't come service the room, we had enough towels and anything else we needed.
- Claudio de Souza (10/5): - x
- Connie (5/5): Passable - Location was good Rooms need attention.
- F181MYdeand (10/5): Grand by name grand by nature… - We stayed for one night but wish it could have been longer. The Western Riviera has the most amazing views across the lake from every room and is less than a stone’s throw from the lake itself. The rooms are spacious, extremely clean, and everything you need for a great stay. The owners have clearly put a good deal of thought into it and they were very kind and welcoming.
Grand Lake is a wonderful place to stay - great location, wonderful views, lovely places to eat and browse, and so close to Rocky Mountain National Park. But do make sure you plan to stay for longer than one night!
- Jacqueline (9/5): Really exceeded expectations regarding location. Modest lodging but expensive views. - Breakfast not provided but a great little place next door where we could sit outside. A bit more space to store personal items in bathroom area. And disband leg on bed frame.
- Charles (10/5): - Very comfortable and great view, easy walking to town businesses!!
- RetiredNotSoonEnough (10/5): Figure out how to stay here at least one night! - Am I in heaven?? Finally made it back to Grand Lake to visit my favorite place as a kid. Adjusted schedule to make sure to get at least one night here and everything else we had to miss - did not matter. Sitting on the porch of this special place overlooking the lake . . . nothing better.
- Laura (6/5): - We loved being right on the lake with amazing views. The staff was very friendly. The property and rooms were clean, but keep in mind it's an older motel. The bathroom was very small, which was fine for one night but would have been inconvenient for a longer stay. It was recommended that we eat at The Rockies across the street, but we sat there for 45 minutes after placing our order, while others who came in after us got served, and then the waitress couldn't remember what our order was supposed to be, so we left. In the morning we discovered that the mini-fridge was warm and my diabetic supplies (insulin) were barely still cool simply because my ice packs had saved them.
- Casey (10/5): - Nice, clean hotel with beautiful views of the lake and a couple minute walk to shopping/dining. Highly recommend!
- Karen (10/5): Great location - The Western Riviera has the perfect location on Grand Lake and close to shops and restaurants. We visited during a weekday in late August, and the property was quiet and peaceful. This is an older, very well kept, clean hotel.
- T (10/5): Great Motel on the lake! - Great motel on the lake and by the main street with restaurants and stores. Older facility but in good condition and kept up nicely. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
- Melody (8/5): - It was a wonderful lake front location. The beds were comfortable and clean. The restroom, while outdated was very clean. We used the BBQ. The coffee was good, although not available until 8AM (otherwise instant.) an area of note: steps are required for even the 1st floor rooms. There is no ADA ramp. We loved it..stayed 4 days.....would have stayed longer if not for the cost.
- Raymond (10/5): - Loved being close to town and right on the lake. Dated, but clean and comfortable and amazing views from every room. Very quiet and peaceful and close to beach and boats too.
- Marshall (5/5): Location and views are amazing. Facility is ok. - Location Walls and floors are VERY THIN. You hear every noise including low level talking and the neighbors urinating.
- Bonnie (10/5): - I worked with Carol at the front desk. What a wonder lady to represent your hotel. She worked with us storing our helmets and parking our motorcycle. Will certainly stay with them again. Wonderful “walk to everything” location.
- Rajesh (10/5): - Beautiful location right in the lake. It’s simple lodging, nothing fancy but good location and staff. Clean.
- Lawanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (10/5): Disappointed! - The young lady receptionist was superior.
The room was clean, but very dated and in dire need of a renovation. Bathroom-yuk! Bed-ok. For $240+ our 1 night stay was a rip off. I suppose because it is a tourist town, they can get away with it. We definitely will not go back.
- amiee (10/5): Fun, old school motor inn with a great view - This was a sweet motel in a fantastic location. I would stay here again.
- Marilyn (8/5): - Older small motel but nice place to stay. Located on beautiful Grand Lake. Location is ideal as it is very convenient to the water front, restaurants, shopping and activities around town.
- Aimee (8/5): - We’ve been several times and enjoyed our stay and the views!
- Linda (7/5): Good -
- John (7/5): The two nights were very peaceful, a bit overpriced ! - Close to the lake's edge, maybe 300 feet ! Also very close to the shopping and restaurants on the main streets. The room was a little stuffy, even with a floor fan and ceiling fan. My wife didn't like the constant noise the ceiling fan made. The room was very clean but the walls were kind of sticky feeling possibly from being so close to the lake. Detailed above ...
- Patricia (10/5): - We always like to stay here. Great location
- Victoria (10/5): - Very clean and neat, the property is right on the lake and rooms have lake views.
The stuff is very friendly and helpful.
- lesley (10/5): - Nice, clean room and great location
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shashi (10/5): - Beautiful property with a perfect balcony view of grand lake . Highly recommended !
