• Nathan (6/5): - Location is very good. 2 blocks from Notre Dame. this is a very old building with difficult stairway access and floor plan. I could not check-in the day I arrived by train in Paris until 9PM and Expedia charged me an extra $300. since the front desk was closed after 8 PM. I called a day in advance to arrange my check-in and got screwed for $300. As things turned out, I received instructions for access by email, but still lost the $300. Not happy!

The sheets and bedding and bed were luxury! The room was large and elegant - and the bathroom was so beautifully well done with tile and rock accents. And- the location!! Steps from Notre Dame! The reception was so friendly!! Beautiful stay in Paris!

• MICHAEL (6/5): Great, but… - The good: fantastic location, great shower, electric outlets for European, British and US type outlets. The bad: absolutely the smallest hotel room I’ve ever had. Made it hard to keep track of my belongings. Offer a breakfast if you are ready to eat at 8:30 am. And no staff on the property between 7 pm and 7ish in the morning.

Could not find anything to like about this building, it's on it's last leg's and sooner they are kicked away the better. The staircase is a nightmare, very tight with many trip hazard, and very poorly lighting, the room was dirty and in very poor condition ,bed old and worn out bed linen had holes in it, the bathroom had mildew and a shower door that didn't open properly, the door to the bathroom had clear glass window. The bedroom had electric wires hanging out the wall ...I could go on...you have been Warned

• Christian (10/5): - Definitivamente regresaré. Esta muy cerca de Notre Dame, a una cuadra de Av St Michel que está repleta de restaurantes, farmacias, supermercados y boulangeries. Es muy fácil moverse desde ahí a todo Paris. La habitación estaba limpia, de buena tamaño y la cama super cómoda. El personal del hotel muy amable. Realmente este hotel tuvo lo que siempre busco: comodidad, limpieza, excelente precio y ubicación. Llegué caminando de Gare de Lyon que está a 30 minutes a pie.
• Leonardo (2/5): - The only nice thing about this hotel is the location. Everything else is TERRIBLE. Please, stay away from it. To start the pictures you see ... NOT AT ALL. The place needs to be demolished. Good luck going upstairs with your luggage!!!! Our bathroom was full of mold, the bathtub is a challenge to get in or out and water barely comes out of you mini shower head. You can hear people coming in and out of the stairs (which are extremely narrow and dangerous) and that is the nicest thing I can say about it. Our not king size bed headboard was part of the exorcist movie and duck tape is everywhere.. yes, I have pictures to prove all of these issues, except the neighbors noise! For the (over) price you pay, you could do a lot better.. I am fighting this one with Expedia!

• EHSANUL (10/5): Great Charming Hotel!! - You are centrally located! Almost literally across the street from the Notre Dame! Everything is close by. The room is so charming! The window light was just perfect! But… you are on top of a bar. On weekends this will be LOUD! So sleeping with your windows open may need ear plugs. The staircase is EXTREMELY narrow, so be prepared for that when walking up. Overall… it was a wonderful experience!

• Annette (8/5): An old character hotel, opposite Notre Dame - This small hotel, right opposite Notre Dame, is over 200 years old, still containing the old beamed staircase and ceilings. Getting in and out is fairly cramped, but the rooms are a decent size. The rooms are clean, though not serviced daily (which we actually preferred). The breakfast is big and good value, though only served after 8.30 during the week and after 9 at weekends (which was a bit late for us).
• Peter (8/5): - Es ist ein kleines Hotel in super Lage. Dass kein Fahrstuhl vorhanden ist, war bekannt. Das Personal war nett. Wir hatten ein großes Zimmer, in dem das Mobiliar etwas zusammengewürfelt war, riesiger Tisch, Vitrine ohne Funktion, Kommode, leider nur 1 Sessel. Hier fehlt definitiv eine 2. Sitzgelegenheit, denn man möchte auch mal zu zweit richtig sitzen und nicht auf dem Bett hängen. Das Bett selbst war sehr gut, schön breit und bequem. Leider war direkt daneben die Schiebetür zum Bad. Diese Tür ruiniert jede Ruhe, nachts und am Tag - sie quietscht beim Auf- und Zuschieben fürchterlich. Die Vorhänge hängen mit nicht haltenden Haken an stumpfen Holzringen, die sich auf einer stumpfen Stange nicht ziehen, sondern hin- und herruckeln lassen. Die Vorhänge sind zu schmal für die Fenster. Zimmerreinigung erfolgte auf Nachfrage an der Rezeption, die benutzten Gläser wurden nicht getauscht, es fehlte ein Handtuch. Das Bad mit Fenster zum Zimmer, nachträglich eingebaut, ist ganz witzig. Die Scheibe kann mit einem Vorhang von außen verdeckt werden. Es sind keine Becher und Kosmetiktücher vorhanden, aber ein Fön und sehr gutes Duschgel. Durch die dunklen Holzbalken ist es sehr dunkel im Zimmer und wird durch eine Stehlampe und 2 Nachttischlampen nicht viel heller. Die Badbeleuchtung anzulassen, brachte auch nicht viel. Trotz allem war es ein schöner Aufenthalt, der durch die zentrale Lage und das bequeme Bett punktete. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Les Degres deux Notre Dame - Les Degres provides old Paris charm. It is a "walk up" for everyone where narrow winding steps (no lift) re the only way up. Consider this is you're not in the best of shape or have large amounts of luggage. Service the first week of January was quite minimal but I has stayed there 20 years ago with fond memories & it delivered again. Its location is hard to beat

• Orleilson (10/5): Muito bom - Foi muito bom, sempre estive em comunicação com o hotel e fui bem atendida, até o late check out. A região é excelente, transportes, atrações, tudo muito próximo. Nosso quarto foi o 35 (3° andar), silencioso, apenas qndo havia movimento no corredor vc ouvia alguma coisa. Fique ciente que não possui elevador, não recomendo excesso de malas.

• Marylène (4/5): Mal tenu - Emplacement idéal proche Notre Dame et Saint Michel. Établissement avec apparemment un certain cachet raison pour laquelle il a été choisi ainsi que le prix. Malheureusement cet établissement est mal tenu. La chambre était très sale et les peintures écaillées, le mobilier est très fatigué et les équipements défaillants (télé soit disant par câble en panne, lampe rafistolée au scotch, ampoule grillée sur un luminaire. Sommier pas très net. Au-delà de ça, l’annonce proposait de choisir entre chambre double ou chambre twin. J’avais opté pour une twin ne sachant pas lors de ma réservation (3 mois à l’avance) si je serai seule ou pas. Finalement j’étais accompagnée, ce que j’ai signalé par correction à l’hôtel. Mais SURPRISE, en guise de twin la chambre disposait d’un lit double et d’un lit d’appoint très inconfortable (une vraie planche). Enfin dernier point, notre chambre se trouvait au 4ème étage sans ascenseur MAIS l’annonce n’en faisait pas mention. Ma sœur handicapée a eu les pires difficultés à monter ces 4 étages par un escalier très raide et très étroit, problème pour la valise. A notre départ j’ai signalé tout cela à l’hôtelier qui me dit qu’il n’y a pas de twin dans son établissement (ma réservation était donc bidon), que je disposais bien de 2 lits et donc de 3 places et cela sans supplément. Mais ce monsieur s’est montré très commerçant : j’ai eu la satisfaction de payer la taxe de séjour à l’ancien prix.
• Verified traveler (4/5): - The location is amazing. Perfect. So close to everything and transportation is right at your door. One block to the Seine. That being said, the room had mold. The bathroom was especially gross. Even if we wanted to complain to management, there was no one at the front desk for days. The WiFi was not available in the room. We had to shave on the stairs or in the hall to use it at all. So that made it difficult to book tours etc. Overall, if they cleaned the mold and paid some attention to the guests, this would be a great place to stay. For us, two nights was barely tolerable. But the location is amazing.

We were on the 4th floor, and could see Notre Dame only a couple of blocks away out our window. Friendly check-in. Cleanliness was fine - clean bedding, clean towels. No service for our second night (no bed made, no clean towels), so make sure you hang your towels to dry. Bed was reasonably comfortable, and king size which is difficult to find in Paris. Be aware there is no elevator, and the stairs are windy (70 steps to the 4th floor). A bit difficult to navigate carrying even small luggage, as well as after a couple bottles of wine. :)

• Verified traveler (8/5): - Location great. Staff was very pleasant, but the receptionist that was there when I was checking out spoke absolutely zero english. Room was nice and fairly clean but it's a real pity that the building is not cared for properly. Could've been so much better... Can't say more because the price was pretty decent.

The single room was very small and very dated, but the bathroom was fully renovated. I would say that this was a great value for money, as it's as central as it gets, if I hadn't found a strange creature walking on my wrist as I was lying on the bed...
• Verified traveler (8/5): - It's got a lot of charm! We were on the 3rd floor (ie the fourth) and it's a narrow staircase, so if that's a problem, this place isn't for you. But it was comfortable and surprisingly quiet. Definitely not fancy, but it's in such a great neighbourhood!

• Natalie (8/5): Old hotel, great location - Location doesn't get any better than this. Literally across the river from Notre Dame. Easy walk to multiple metro stops, yet the hotel was quite quiet. Hotel is very old, and worn down. Bedding and towels were clean. You need to walk up narrow stairs to get to rooms. A bit moldy and damp but that is common for an old building. Staff was friendly and helpful, but be warned this is a small operation. We got in around 4, and I had missed an email from them asking when they would be in. It was locked and it took me some time to figure out how to call. Once I got in touch with staff, got in no problem, but this could have been a disaster for someone who didn't have a phone while traveling. I spoke with staff in French, not sure of their English skills.
• David (6/5): Good value - The location of this hotel makes up for any shortcomings it may have. For the price, you can’t beat it. As long as you are ok with packing your bags up the narrow staircase of 50 + stairs and lack of tv. It does have all the basics as well as a/c. Mediocre breakfast available for 10 euros each.
• Shelby (8/5): Unfortunate Fire Alarm - Room was very spacious and large bed. Lots of stairs to climb as we were on the 4th floor. Only negative is that we had the fire alarm ringing from 130 until 2am, and then again at 7am and 745am, something faulty - no actual fire concern. Needless to say we didn't get much sleep. Hotel attendent very friendly and apologetic. Room was very comfortable.
• gustavo (4/5): Não vale o preço que cobra - A pousada é velha demais e precisa de muita manutenção. A recepção funciona apenas das 8h às 20h. Como não há elevador, é extremamente desconfortável subir malas pela escada (pelo preço que cobra tinha de ter no mínimo sempre um funcionário disponível para auxiliar nesta tarefa). O banheiro não possui cortina no box, então molha tudo, além de existir mofo e infiltrações até no teto que, aliás, estava com a pintura descascando. Cama pequena com colchão velho e iluminação pobre do quarto. Meu destaque positivo fica apenas por conta do cordial e simpático atendimento da recepcionista Ioanna, que nos auxiliou com informações e transporte em Paris. Resumindo: é uma espelunca localizada em uma boa região em Paris (perto da Notre Dame), mas nem de longe faz jus ao preço que cobra (lembrando que se quiser café da manhã, tem de pagar à parte, mas eu não arrisquei).

My only issue is the stairs very narrow steep and winding, it was an adventure going up and down the stairs daily. The location was amazing you can hear the bells from Notre Dame and the D'Orsay was walking distance away.

L'hôtel pourrait pourtant être sympa car le bâtiment a beaucoup de cachet. Mais l'état actuel est plutôt délabré. Aucune envie d'y prendre le petit-déjeuner. Je l'ai choisi pour l'emplacement. C'est le seul côté positif

The view of Notre Dame was amazing and the size of the room and bathroom were wonderful! We didn’t get the breakfast.

• Jo (8/5): Quirky hotel close to Notre Dame - This little hotel is very close to the metro, the Seine and Notre Dame. It is surrounded by cafes and restaurants. We had a glimpse of the towers of Notre Dame from our top floor room, where we felt like poets in the garret.

The staff were more than helpful during our stay and was of great help in helping us find our way around to some of the exciting places to see nearby.

The TV didn’t work. The plus side was that the room had wood floors so the smell wasn’t as strong as it would have been had there been carpets. The hotel is in a great location surrounded by shops. It was loud at night. The staff was super helpful. The rooms pretty much look like the rooms in the pictures. This hotel needs to invest in new bedding.
• Verified traveler (4/5): - Reserved 2 beds, only got one. Was moved for 1 night to two different rooms, was moved again to a " suite" which consisted of one bed and a cot. Bathroom door had windows, with only sheats for "privacy". We stayed in the thitd floor, with stairs that were extremly difficult to navigate. Very narrow. Overall disappointed with the hotel.
• Farha (2/5): - Owner is an extremely rude person. Guests cant check in after 8pm. By the way, i sent message to the hotel before coming, twice, saying that we will be coming late at night, is there anything we should do. Never got a reply on that. We were ready to be stranded on the road, luckily a lady from nearby bar helped us out and luckily a couple who are staying in the hotel entered the hotel while we were waiting outside the door. We could get the emergency phone number of the hotel from the couple and with the help of the lady, we managed to get in the hotel. And even then, the owner was extremely rude and mean to both me and the lady who helped us. As if it was our fault that we came late. He never replied back to my message before. I cant stretch enough the fact that i will never come back to this place. Toilet seat was broken and tissue box had “2” tissue in that. And all this is from first 30min in the hotel.
• Linda (8/5): Best area - Wasn't too happy when I arrived at the hotel as it looked very neglected. For the price we paid though I tried to overlook that fact. The 2 gentleman who manned the desk were very pleasant and helpful. This hotel needs a massive make over but then the prices would go up. The beds were very comfy and clean . We slept extremely well and would use again .
• Peter J (6/5): - No elevator, peeling ceiling, burnt out bulbs, but clean. Front of property is embarrassing, worn down, not maintained. What this property has is location and price It is literally around the corner from Notre-Dame and the Latin Quarter shops and restaurants!
• Chloe A (8/5): Met my needs, great area - Location is exceptional, room is quaint and met my needs for one night. I did have some miscommunication with the receptionist and when i left early the next morning, i didn’t know where to leave my key since the reception area was closed off.

• Jim (8/5): Charming Hotel Les Degres de Notre Dame. - This hotel is a unique experience. It is a centuries-old hotel which only has 10 rooms. There is no elevator and you will have anywhere from 10-70 steps up to your room on a narrow, spiral wood staircase. We were at the very top and used those steps to earn our chocolate-filled crepes! There is a very small lobby with service only between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. You will use a keypad to enter the hotel in the off-hours. Because of it's age, it will always have character and it would take away from the hotel if you were to renovate/ modernize it. It could be cleaner but certainly was not filthy or bug-ridden in any way. The price was also very attractive since, like most tourists, we were only in our room to sleep. It's just old, and old is charming. The charm of the hotel is it's excellent and convenient location in the Latin Quarter to the Seine and the cathedral of Notre Dame. It is located half a block from the river and two blocks from the bridge to the cathedral. There are at least five restaurants within ONE block of the hotel and a dozen or more within a five minute walk. The nearest metro station is three very short blocks away and can be reached in about three minutes. We found this location extremely pleasant and centralized. The plaza in front of Notre Dame is very peaceful and mostly free of the street vendors and pick-pockets (with fake petitions to sign) we saw in most other places. I don't hesitate to recommend it.
• Ed (10/5): AMAZING LOCATION !!! - Incredible value for the location. The staff is great and speaks very good English and French! You will not regret your stay here!
• Richard (6/5): A sad decline... - We have stayed at this hotel a number of times and have always enjoyed it. It makes us sad to see the condition it is in now. It feels like ownership is no longer local and that is reflected in the loss of upkeep, staff, and amenities. We used to recommend this hotel to everyone but we can no longer do so.

• Mary (6/5): If a strike is looming do not visit France. - Over all the trip was ruined by the train strike and lack of alternative solutions by the French to help us get to where we needed to. The Girl on the information desk in the Airport was an absolute disgrace to her work ethic and profession, in how she dealt with us. I was glad I chose a hotel in the center so we could walk a lot, but the French in general did themselves no favors, to show their country as somewhere you would recommend to visit. If your thinking of going, and there is any threat of a strike either don't go or postpone your journey.
• marie g (4/5): A very quaint Parisian hotel. - This is a very old and charming hotel. I love it because it is just minutes from NotrenDame. Beware...there are only very steep and windy steps...no elevator! Also desk open for limited times. The hotel staff is wonderful and the bed was comfy.

I loved the view of Notre Dame from our window and we were one block from the Metro and RER station. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The five flights of stairs were a good workout with luggage but it was also part of the charm! The price was right, too!

• James (10/5): Tremendous find! - Just stayed for the one night but the staff were really friendly and welcoming and let us in early as our flight got us there in the morning. The room was big and comfortable by Paris standards. Location is unbeatable amongst the San Michel Bistros. Lots of character, just lovely!
• Matt (6/5): cheap and cheerful - This is a very basic small hotel and I would say good value for money. Its cheap and cheerful. The room was cramped but clean, wifi OK, hot shower, access via the hotel bar, breakfast if you want it, fantastic location and CHEAP! Don't expect too much for this price and you won't be disappointed.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Nice Hotel close to Notre-Dame - This was an enjoyable stay. The hotel is very well located, close to a metro station, to Notre-Dame and La Huchette street with its affordable and numerous restaurants. The room was clean and big for Paris standard. The staff speaks french and english, was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was affordable and really nice. Definitely an excellent place for a stay in Paris.
• Philippe (8/5): Great hotel, great location. - Typical small european hotel but well maintained. Very helpful front desk staff. No elevator which i found was custom for similar hotel this size in France. Paper thin walls might not suit everyone's definition of privacy. However, location is prime, rooms are decent and somewhat spacious and the price was excellent. Worth coming back.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Great location, cute features - The hotel was through a small bar, friendly receptionist who pointed us in the direction of our room. Up 3 flights of stairs, no lift, which were very cute. The room was clean and quaint. Would definitely stay there again! Location was brilliant for walking round Paris.
