Guest Reviews
- Robyn (8/5): - Nice but but for the money
- John (10/5): Somewhere in Time - Great location. Easy check-in. Clean, comfortable room. Jane Seymour on the island this weekend.
- Steve (10/5): - Nice hotel. Great location, excellent staff, clean room. Loved the huge hot tub and coffee and doughnuts in the morning. Room is outdated and bathroom is tiny but that is to be expected in a historic hotel. Would stay again.
- Alfred (10/5): - Nice location. Right in the heart of the main street.
- Darrell (10/5): - The view from our room was absolutely fantastic, the spa pool was really nice also. Would give this place 10 stars if we could.
- Shauntel (10/5): - This is a typical Mackinac Island hotel. Lovely, right on the main strip. Easily accessible to ALL of the island treasures.
- Carl (8/5): - Unique property with old time furniture staff was very welcoming
- Karin (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay; conveniently located, clean, comfortable, friendly staff, spacious room, good bed, beautiful bathroom.
- Linda (6/5): - Large room. Nice hot tub area
- Robert (10/5): - Free donuts
- Michael (10/5): Hospitality - Thank you for a wonderful stay!
- Dorothy (10/5): - The hotel was easy to get to, clean comfortable & staff very friendly! Only negative this weekend the elevator wasn't working & our room was on the 4th floor. Good exercise!! They are going to have them fixed today, no fault of theirs. I would definitely use this property again!
- David (10/5): - Room were individually decorated with antique pictures.
- DAVID (8/5): - Nice stay
- Elmer (8/5): - Located right in the downtown shopping area and close to several good restaurants. The staff were friendly, courteous and efficient. Good counter space in the bathroom.
- darrah (10/5): - Wonderful location with very helpful and friendly staff.
Best fudge around.
- Rich (10/5): - Very well maintained
- Tom (10/5): - Delightful and reasonably priced stay. Would do it again.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Clean eveything
- Connie (10/5): - Beautiful old hotel
- Eugene R (6/5): - The large hot tub is located on the second floor. Not a rooftop in that it is surrounded by hotel rooms. No view of main street from the hot tub. It is not a pool, most children would be very disappointed if they were told they were going to a hotel with a pool.
The shower units are very slippery. I actually fell and fractured a rib the last day of our vacation. They need some bath mats or non-slip strips in the tub/shower units. The best thing about this hotel is the location.
- Regina (6/5): Road Trip to Copper Harbor - The Murray Hotel is an old hotel. The hotel staff was EXCELLENT but the hotel itself needs some updates and some deep cleaning. We had a Spiderweb over our bed that had been there for sometime. The Fudge was awesome!
- Nancy (10/5): - Rooms are old and beds uncomfortable however location is perfect and staff are helpful.
- Kristen (10/5): - Charming stay with an amazing hot tub!
We loved our stay at the Murray Hotel! The highlight was definitely the large hot tub and the private area where we could relax in the sunshine—such a treat on Mackinac Island. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. We also appreciated the complimentary coffee, tea, and donuts in the morning, and the breakfast burritos were delicious! The hotel has that classic historic charm and is conveniently located right on Main Street. We’d absolutely stay here again!
- Trenton (8/5): Hotel needs to updates - Hotel was in a good location was an older hotel Might need some updates
- Kim (10/5): - Great location
- L (10/5): - Had a last minute friend’s birthday on the island and thought I was going to wind up paying an arm and a leg. Found Murray and thought it might be dodgy at the price, but really like the location, the room, the pool and hot tub area, and the staff were all lovely. I’ll definitely stay again the next time I’m up.
- Cassidy (10/5): - I stayed in the single travelers room and it was perfect size for me/ I had a great view of the water and street activity. If you don’t want to hear the hustle and bustle of the street I suggest a room in the back. I had a nice corner room in the front. The bathroom had a lot of counter space and a window which I loved. Only suggestions would be bigger side tables and a plastic laundry bag. Also it would be nice to have access to the balcony but I get why they don’t allow it. 10000% would stay here again
Oh, SPA POOL IS AWESOME
- Beverly (10/5): - It was all we hoped it would be.
- Clarence (10/5): - From the first view of the room, it appeared as if I had gone back in time to a Victorian period home. The room was smaller than most hotels but arranged so that there was plenty of room. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The location was right in the center of most of the businesses and activities. This was my second stay at the Murray.
The downsides were few and not necessarily enough to be disheartening. The television only received the low channels, while some other guests said their reception was better. The most noticeable negative was that the odor from the Mexican restaurant on the premise permeated the hotel, even up on the 4th floor. Perhaps better ventilation would be the answer?
- Bradford (10/5): - Loved the lake view.
- Bill (10/5): - Great friendly staff
- Michelle (10/5): - Quaint hotel with simple rooms in the middle of Main Street.
- Gary (10/5): - Murray Hotel has maintained their historical ambiance while still making you comfortable. The bed and pillows were very comfortable.
- SHERRY (8/5): - I think they need a frig in room room snd at least a queen bed. Also the sheets were a bit scratchy but everyone there very nice
- Steven (10/5): - Fabulous place with decent amenities!
- Amir (8/5): Good experience - It was good.
- Angela (10/5): - This is an excellent property. Thank you to Donovan for carrying our luggage from the dock to the hotel. It's very close to the dock only a couple blocks. The location is right downtown amongst all the shops and restaurants, you really couldn't ask for a better location. The hot tub and area around are great and super clean. They have free donuts in the morning and coffee, tea, hot choc. They do not have fridge or micro in the room, but you are allowed to use the micro down at the restaurant which worked out just fine. You can walk to The Grand and the Arch from this location. The hotel staff was all very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, I look forward to staying again.
- Viresh (10/5): - Location
- Amanda (10/5): - Perfect location! Elegant and comfy.
- John F (8/5): - The beds were comfortable, there were multiple dining options nearby, and the location was excellent.
- Gina (8/5): - Great location . Quaint older property. Small hotel. Clean rooms. No fridge or safe in room.
- Chelsie (10/5): - Loved staying here and being right in the middle of the main part of the island. Bring your walking shoes!
- Gina (8/5): - Basic room. Very clean. No fridge or safe. Staff very helpful.
- Ilana (10/5): - Staff was very friendly and helpful, we felt so welcomed it was lovely. Room is adorable and very comfortable and clean
- Gail (10/5): - Downtown. Friendly atmosphere. Best fudge! Beds very comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great convenient location. Quirky. Room with balcony, although small, was a plus to sit out on to enjoy the sights and sounds of Mackinac.
- Denise (10/5): - Burrito bar and fudge was excellent. Rooms were clean and quiet. Great location!
- Kylie (10/5): - Very comfy and homey feel.
- Melissa (10/5): - Great location
- Renea (10/5): - The staff is phenomenal. Unfortunately, my friend sprained her ankle and we had to go to the med center. Everything turned out alright and that is mostly due to the staff helping us with getting ice packs, extra pillows/towels, and just helping us with the little things (doors, bags, cabs…) So we could continue to enjoy ourselves
- Susan (10/5): - Clean, convenient,courteous staff
- Lance (10/5): - Nice place to stay on Mackinaw island
- Penny (10/5): The Murray is perfect in almost every way - The Murray is perfect in almost every way. It’s centrally located in town steps away from shopping, restaurants and the fort! We didn’t eat in the restaurant but it smelled good. We loved the 24 hour, complimentary coffee, tea and hot cocoa. My daughter especially loved the hot cocoa. The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. The blanket was cozy. We relaxed on the sun deck and it was lovely. The pool/hot tub was very relaxing after a long day of horseback riding. My daughter and I loved the rocky road fudge, especially. Finally, the price is the most economical I could find especially for the value of the accommodation. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you for hosting us.
- Stacey (10/5): - Has a really nice Hot Tub and close to all the shops on Main Street. Great location and very nice rooms.
- Jessica (10/5): - Great location on island with tons around to do and eat
- EmmaRose (10/5): - The Murray Hotel has exceeded our expectations! The room is wonderful, staff is excellent and they have fudge and food right in the lobby! Very impressed and would stay again
- Rebecca (10/5): - Fun location. Nice room. Great view. Friendly staff.
- Judelyn (8/5): - Beautiful
- Dana (10/5): - Clean
- Julie (10/5): - Charming and clean - all hotel employees were friendly
- Gloria (10/5): - This was a great boutique hotel right in the middle of downtown Mackinac island. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were cute.
- Jay (2/5): - Metal piece sticking out from bed caused guest to cut foot. No tv, strong deodorizing spray used, dirty, small, was described as a cabin but was an old hotel room
- Mark (8/5): - Comfortable room. Great location. Friendly staff.
- JUSTIN (6/5): - Great location!
- Mike (6/5): - There was no coffee maker or ironing board in the room. The coffee in the lobby was terrible. There was no fresh water to fill bottles in the lobby.
The tv was too low on a low dresser, hard to see from the bed.
The bathroom was amazing, clean, and spacious.
- Nicole (10/5): - It was a beautiful Hotel for my anniversary and staff were very nice and friendly.
- Brian (10/5): - Friendly, helpful people.
- Luzadiela (10/5): - I like that the property was clean. However I gound the sheets not totally ckean especially the following days.
- melinda (8/5): - Vintage hotel provides nostalgic stay. Easy access to shopping and dining. Short walk to the ferry terminal. A bit noisy though. Overall very happy with the accommodations.
- Gina (4/5): Stinky - This was our second time staying in the property. It is one of the more affordable and easy to access properties in the island, but the condition has declined too much. Our room smelled like mold and urine. The bed and the toilet were both slanted considerably to the right. Considering the price us still fairly high, I would rather spend another $100 a night to stay somewhere else.
- Kelly (10/5): Relaxing, clean and conveniently located - Hotel was clean, quiet. Kids loves the hot tub! They listed it as a pool but definitely a hot tub. Only complaint is the hair dryer plug was messed up so it didn't work well but I informed them of this at checkout. Desk staff were very polite and helpful.
- DOYLE (10/5): - Easy to get to Hotel from Ferry Dock.
- Tess (10/5): - Clean
- James (8/5): - As advertised. If you want up to date this isn’t it but if you want reasonably priced for the island and right on the strip then it’s perfect. No regrets.
- Chris (10/5): Nice Place! - The room exceeded expectations. The big tub was great. The outside hot pool was nice. Good to be on Main Street.
- John (10/5): Comfortable, Clean, Excellent Location - The location is amazing. Its right on the main strip. Right across from the Star Line ferry drop off dock. We were on the third floor with a harbor view. It was gorgeous. It had a balcony, but you cant use it. That was disappointing. The in-hotel restaurant had great breakfast that is totally big enough to share. The service was amazing and the staff are very friendly. They even allowed us to check-in over two hours early.
- BETTY (8/5): - Room was small but beautiful. Hard to find room for two suitcases. Main problem that it faced east and only had shutters on the window so early morning sun woke us before dawn. Would have liked curtains to put over blinds.
- Christine (10/5): - Staff were all so friendly and helpful! Great place to stay and convenient to everything.
- johnny (10/5): - They are the best
- Virginia (10/5): - We had a very nice stay at the Murray Hotel on Mackinac Island. It is conveniently located, the staff was very helpful and our room was spotlessly cleaned.
- Carol (10/5): - Our room was nice and everyone there was very helpful.
- Connie (10/5): - Spent the night on Mackinac Island with our best friends and really had a great time! Check-in was super easy, loved that our bags were delivered from the ferry and in our room, waiting for us! The only thing that could have made the trip better would have been if it didn’t rain our 2nd day, but we still enjoyed ourselves, and it gave us an excuse to buy souvenir hoodies!!😄
- nancy (10/5): - Totally enjoyed our stay
- Tonya (10/5): - The porter service to come get your luggage and bring it back to the ferry was awesome.
The location of the hotel is great and the amenities were great. Comfortable beds and clean rooms. Definitely would stay again.
- Alexander (10/5): - Quiet and Relaxing
- R (10/5): - Property was right on main street which is very convenient to restaurants and shops and ferry terminals . This also makes the area busy though so if you like very quiet I would choose an area to stay away from the crowds on main street instead . The room was very nice and staff was amazing . Spa / pool was not working properly so we didnt get to use it which was a disappointment for us . I would suggest calling ahead when making reservations to confirm it is working if this is a major thing for you but the private sun deck is a nice getaway.
- kyle (6/5): - Loved the theme of the room, bed was a bit uncomfy. And the shower was a bit small. The floor in the bathroom was also a bit slippery even when the floor was not wet. But the overall stay at the hotel was good. Would recommend to friends.
- Kathy (10/5): - Extra friendly staff
- James (10/5): - Great traditional type property. Very comfortable. Awesome location. Had a really nice corner room. Staff was super nice.
- Airen (10/5): No frills .. just charm and cleanliness. - Older but full of charm. Clean, comfortable and friendly staff. Suprisingly with how many rooms i walked past to get to mine i didnt hear much at all in the hall. The halls are a bit narrow heads up. They have a hot tub on the second floor that is outside. Unique flavored fudges in the lobby, and a restraunt that you can purchase breakfast and lunch at. A pleasent stay and looking forward to staying here again.
- Karen (10/5): Quaint and pretty - We stayed overnight on the island. This was a quaint hotel on the main road. The hot tub was lovely and the complimentary hot drinks were nice on a blustery spring day. The luggage service was especially helpful getting to and from the ferry.
- Troy (8/5): - Small rooms no fridge or microwave
- Patrick (10/5): - Nice older hotel right in the middle of town. Perfect location for a weekend getaway.
- Kimberly (10/5): - I can’t say enough good things about the Murray Hotel. The rooms are quaint and comfortable, the hot tub is great, the staff is phenomenal and the location is perfect! We always look forward to our stay here!
- Tiffany (6/5): - I’ve stayed at the Murray before so I knew what to expect. What I DIDNT expect is to come home with bites all over my ankles and realize I also brought home fleas!!! Unfortunately I placed my suitcase on the floor & left it open. I hadn’t had a vacation in a long time, I was so excited and just didn’t think about it. I’ve never have had fleas even when I had animals. I had bomb/fog the entire house and then clean and wash everything. Fun times after vaca. And hope I don’t see more in a couple weeks to do it all over again before the holidays. I’m still so grossed out. I paid a lot to stay overnight 3 nights & should not have this happen. Lots of dogs on the island now & most don’t look happy to be there. Barking echos through town. And I am a dog lover. Just so disappointed & my feet/ankles are still healing. I sent a message to them before doing a public review… crickets. Otherwise the location is excellent.. we didn’t spend time in the room anyway. Always out shopping, eating & riding.. guess they munched down while I was tired and sleeping. YUCK!!!
- Dave (10/5): Macinac Island - Staff was very friendly and informative.
- Daniel (6/5): So so. But convenient. - The hotel was nice. But we had no luggage racks in the room, our room was small. We felt crowded. We could not get our devices on the WiFi. The small amenities that we take for granted were missing.
The staff and luggage porter were great. They have a nice hot tub that we were not able to use. The Mexican restaurant in the lobby, where we ate twice, was good but sort of filled the entire hotel with the smell of food. Overall, ok. We probably would not stay there again.
- Carl (8/5): - We loved the classic decor, with an updated bathroom with a big tub. Close to the local market for anything we needed and the park because we are smokers. We didn't use the hot tub pool, but the area looked wonderful and not over-crowded. Walls are thin, but not too noisy with other's respect. We were located by the ice machine which is used 7am to 10pm, but we were okay with that. We enjoyed the hotel and its location!
- Robin (2/5): - While booking was lied to by the front desk only to allow a couple to do the exact thing I was trying to do over the phone. Rooms need updated severely. Should have just stayed in the city for the price of what we were getting. We would have been better sleeping in the chairs in the room that were provided instead of the bed. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Looks like they spend the money on the hot tub instead of updating.
