Guest Reviews
- Courtney Cruse (9/5): Cosy, Family oriented and amazing location close to town and the beach. - Loved the fact that they could accommodate my special requests ahead of time with ease as I was traveling with a 1 year old had 5 year old. They allowed a early check in as well as a cot and chalet right next to the play area. The chalet was fully equipped with amenities to enjoy. I have already recommended this place to friends. I would have liked if the tikki bar was maybe open for service to enjoy,
- Hendrik (10/5): - The personnel went over and above their way to make our stay comfortable. No complaints
- samsodien (10/5): -
- AJ (7/5): I payed for 2 chalets by mistake so I cancelled 1 when wil I get my refund -

- Dashika (4/5): Disappointing!! - First time visit to Knysna with my family,, the pictures and info when I did the booking was misleading as the place did not have a jacuzzi and the game room has broken equipment and was not maintained well for kids entertainment. Tea/coffee, toiletries, towels, were available inside the chalet when we arrived the 1st day for 1 day's supply, however since the 2nd day, we had to continuously request for these basic items, throughout the 6-day stay. There were also lack of communication between staff and no records maintained of other items I purchased from the reception area, which led to confusion when I checked-out of the amount owing. I was fed up at this stage. However Knysna is the most beautiful place I've ever visited, but staff could have made it a more pleasant stay. I stayed at gooderson in Drakensburg and it was a totally different & wonderful experience.
- Manmohan (7/5): - Location No hot water for bath
- Zanele (8/5): - The place is clean There was a lot of ants
- Siphokazi (5/5): -
- Robyn (10/5): - Vert convenient everything was supplied and the cleaning staff were absolutely amazing I just feel a little more tlc in the chalets, also some much needed tlc in the gaming area. Also recommend the bar area be available in the facility it would boom!
- Toerien (10/5): - Friendly staff, Clean units, lots of fun facilities and things to do, beautiful location, safe parking, Wifi, dstv, complementary toiletries, coffee/ tea / sugar and mini milk boxes available Units are fully equipped with everything and an outside table/ chairs and braai area.
Change of clean towels daily and pool towels provided, which is lovely.
No bar is available only for events or functions, which i do undrestaurant but needs to be clarified on the booking.com site. Also, no jacuzzi as advertised, but the pool and slide were enough.
Loved the game room! Such a good idea!! The shop could definitely stock up on more items though.
Big thank you to Jo-dene for all her help and for making us feel extremely welcome ♡
Would definitely return for a longer holiday!! R500 cash only deposit upfront needs to be clarified before arriving

- Anushka (6/5): 50/50 - It was kept clean and tidy daily
Comfy bed.
Everything you need in the unit
Comfortable patio Our units door was broken, so we were not able to lock it.. and it was a major struggle to open and close.
After a day out, we got back to the chalet where the gate and door was left open after the cleaners left.. with all our belongings inside. That was not okay.
The amenities are not up to par.
The braai facility is really unpleasant. All other units had a weber on their patio with seating. Our unit, you had to walk down steps and braai on the smallest little braai, that had no seating. So we just stood there. Really uncomfortable.
You live across the lagoon, next to a bridge and main road. So a bit far from town and noisy.
The tv didn't work for the first 2 days, then maintenance came to fix it.
The couch is very uncomfortable.
Not the most private place, but alas... it was just ok.
- Leigh (8/5): Lovely stay for us with our 2 kids. -
- Linda (8/5): Good - Location Bit small.
Stock take process, time consuming
- Solomons (6/5): -
- Eckhard (2/5): Never again! This place unfortunately gives Knysna a truly undeserved bad reputation. - The bed was very comfortable and if you like being outside of the centre of Knysna, the location is Ok. Before you get your room keys and manage to check in you're given an inventory list of over 100 items. You have to check yourself if every item is present in the accommodation, before having to pay a deposit, as the staff is obviously extremely worried you will walk off with a teaspoon, pillow case or electric kettle. Bring your own pen!
Braai facilities are advertised, but again, for a deposit you have to find someone at reception to give you a grill to be able to use the braai in the first place.
Hot water is on a gas heating system that either scalds your skin or runs ice cold. Don't even try to use printed directions for using hot water because they simply don't work.
If you live in the bottom apartments you will have to deal with an unbearable stench in the evenings when they pump out/clean the septic tank. We called reception in an emergency as the gas smell was so bad, we thought there was a big leak on the gas bottle heating system, only to be told that the sickening smell of sewerage being treated would be gone in about half an hour to an hour. It is truly unbearable!
Games facilities are available but at a deposit again...
Staff is very eager to do the change-over while you're still packing up, hours before the intended check-out time. Perhaps this can be listed as a positive as they are the ones checking the inventory in order for the deposit to be handed back. God forbid you're on a schedule and there are 3 simultaneous check-outs. Plan this into your timing itinerary for checkout day.
Maintenance seemingly gets done during the absence of the guests, however finding a crew of 3 people with power tools hovering around a lock being changed on a wide-open sliding door, with all your belongings inside the apartment, can be a bit unnerving.
If you have the misfortune of having booked at Gooderson Knysna Chalets, I'm sorry.
Don't paint the town of Knysna with the same brush. The location is otherwise magnificent!
- Kruger (8/5): -
- Gert (5/5): This place needs a refresh, and better inventory management process. - The location was good. The fact that we had to check inventory of the chalet on check-in, was frustrating - find another way to manage. The rooms were dated, with stains on the carpets.
- Grant Kingwill (6/5): -
- Denise (10/5): -
- van Rooyen (6/5): - The safety and the friendly staff. Facility is nice and clean. there is a swimming pool as well Dstv was not working. You are not aloud to take anything to drink down to the pool but the bar is closed. Very rude guy at the pool ensuring noone takes anything in.
- Willemburg (9/5): Amazing venue. Loved waking up to the birds. - Very friendly staff. Loved the chalet and the housekeeping. The bed was the best that I have ever slept in. Wanted to take it with me home. Thanks Nothing.
- Jonathan (5/5): It was fair - Good location, games room and swimming pool The chalet was small for 4 people. No oven or air fryer. Carpet and sleeper coach not clean. Should have an aircon for hot nights
- Paul (7/5): -
- Abrahams (8/5): -
- Lynne (8/5): - Loved the shower pressure. Everything was adequate. The aircon was difficult to operate and was very noisy.
- Antoinette (10/5): -
- Angela (6/5): - Schöne Anlage, guter Preis Die Couch sollte als vollwertige Schlafgelegenheit für einen Erwachsenen geeignet sein, war dafür aber viel zu kurz
- Lara (8/5): -
- Nomthandazo (8/5): -
- Mudzusi (8/5): -
- Donnithé (10/5): Memorable stay at Gooderson Knysna Chalets🌈 - I like the location. We also enjoyed the swimming pool and Games room! Nothing to dislike
- KRISHNAVENI (9/5): - No aircons
TV didn't have sound
- Mamta (6/5): Chalet 4 sleeper - Not suitable for 4 adults, best for 2 adults and 2 small children - The location was great, Staff friendly No air conditioning, shower was not effective
- Cindy (8/5): -
- Sunitha (4/5): Fair - The daily changing of Towels The sleeper couch was too small for an adult - I booked for 3 adults
Had to wait for keys. Room was not ready at 2pm- check in time
Value for money :(
- Annize (6/5): Good for overnight stay. - Comfortable and clean overnight stay. A bot small considering we are four adults in the family. Children cannot really sleep on o e sleeper couch and there was no space to open the second sleeper couch. One of the kids ended up sleeping very uncomfortable.
- Sumayah (8/5): - We really loved the tranquility and the scenery surrounded by trees. Bed was comfy, shower was amazing. Thank you so much to the cleaning staff for going the extra mile.. Much appreciated. We enjoyed our stay. A/c for the summer days would be nice.
- Althea (6/5): - Location was great, staff was great No aircon, troublesome gas shower geyser.
- Aneesa (10/5): -
- Karen (9/5): -
- Mehta (7/5): It was okay. - The place is good but a little smaller kitchen. They check each and every item in the kitchen before check in and check out and it takes a lot of time. The security deposit is R250. The water was cold because they have to change the cylinder and it was not done earlier before the check in was given. Also the reception is not open 24/7. So anything from night 2000 to morning 0800 will not be solved.
- Joshi (9/5): -
- Sundil (6/5): g - Fairly decent. Sliding door didn't lock. Overall, the establishment had better days.
- Zukiswa (10/5): - The place is nice and the location is good Nothing at all n the children really enjoyed themselves
- Canter (7/5): -
- Charles (9/5): Wife Approved! - Very family oriented.
Excellent and friendly staff.
Ample activities to entertain the whole family
Close to surrounding areas.
Very quiet and pieceful.
Great value for money.
Spectacular hot shower. A few stains on some of the pullout beds and carpets.
Main door deadbolts broken, and door handle mechanism has seen better days as you occasionally struggle to open it
- Cilliers (10/5): -
- Marx (10/5): - Clean, neat and everything was more than we expected. This was a very pleasant stay and will be back next year. Nothing. We liked everything.
- Fadiel (10/5): - Place is clean, staff is friendly and access to knysna and george is close by
- Randal (9/5): Peace and quietness - Like the peace and quietness
- Tessa (7/5): - The facilities and the quietness of the chalet The pull up couch bed was not comfortable at all.
- Marshy (5/5): Satisfactory - The location The sleeper coach was disgusting. We couldn’t open it to sleep on it and I don’t this it washed or cleaned. The towels had a funny smell like it wasn’t dried out ie damp and musty.
The stove didn’t have a started so one had to use a match to lit it.
- mapule (8/5): - Everything about it Lack of privacy from the cleaning staff, the cleaning lady just walked in after knocking once which gave us a fright as we had just arrived and were busy settling in
- Mariana (6/5): - Very friendly staff.
Clean facilities. Toilet Bowl was cracked in our unit.
The sleeper couche is too short for older children to sleep on. My 13 year old son's legs were on the floor, so we had to move the two couches together. The couche is heavy and not easy to move. The unit's sleeping facilities are not ideal for families with older children. Better for smaller children.
Bookings.com did not inform us that the facility requires a cash deposit of R500 on arrival. We had to scramble to get cash together since we travel cashless.
The information on Bookings.com indicated that check-out can be from 7:00-10:00. When we wanted to check out at 7:30, we were informed that we had to wait until 8:00 to get our deposit back. Bookings.com need to speak to Gooderson Chalets to ensure the correct information is posted on the Bookings.com App.
- Sonia (10/5): - Kids loved it here
- MrsAsh23 (10/5): - Pool slide was great for small kids. Teens enjoyed playing pool. Our chalet had almost everything we needed. Play area was great It was awesome. No complaints
- Petersen (8/5): Great stay at Gooderson chalets - Wonderfull place to go with your family..
Friendliest and kindest staff you'll meet.. The facilitys was good and the idea around it great..but some small improvements should be made on them especially because you want people to spend more time on the premises inatead of,off it.. Maybe an extension on the game and pool areas and something for the smaller kids to also enjoy
- Zaheer (4/5): - Location is nice Tv out of order. Toilet partially working. Unit is very small And uncomfortable
- Ahmier (10/5): - Everything. Very nice chalets. Location is great ann very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The staff was excellent, very helpful Our short stay
- Marlon (8/5): - The quiteness. The bed was squeaky.
The room is too compact for 4 people.
- Stowman (10/5): -
- David (5/5): A bit disappointing - Value for money for a short break. Friendly staff!!! No security at the gate to comfirm booking or day visitors before gaining access, thus anyone can enter the property leaving children's play exposed to anyone that enters.
Gas geyser in the bathroom was a bit of a safety risk. Bar area only open for functions.
Hot tub no longer exists, however it was still advertised.
Entertainment area had a few arcade games out of order.
Bedroom needs a bit of upgrading with new a mattress and bedding.
TV was not working properly.
- Melinda (8/5): -
- Louisa (6/5): -
- Jacqui (5/5): - Location Shabby grounds. Checklist expected to be signed without being given the opportunity to actually check.
- Mayla (2/5): Disgusting - The people at the reception were kind Our room was disgusting. There were green spots on the toilet seat, sand in the bathtub, dirt on the couch cushions one of us had to sleep on and cockroaches. We complained at the reception but they gave us a room that looked a little better, but smelled even worse. The advertised jacuzzi isn’t working and reading from the reviews, hasn’t been for years now.
- alfred (3/5): - The pool Facility NOT suited for 4 adults as on advert.
- Tandiwe (10/5): -
- Sammy (5/5): -
- Leone (9/5): -
- Lizelle (4/5): - It was quite. The advert showed a wooden cabin and we were booked into a brick house with only a view looking at trees(although the advert showed a view of the lake). No aircon or ventilation and smelled stuffy. They cater for overseas guest, as only they could make use of bar and restaurant. Even when we asked about the swimming pool, we were told we can use it, but must bring our own drinks, and it must be plastic, no glass allowed.
- Aubert (5/5): -
- Shafee Khodabux (9/5): -
- Dr Lubabalo (9/5): -
- Nur-Jehan (10/5): -
- DONNOVAN (9/5): Vey nice and pleasant. - Location was good. Easy access to the N2 as well as to the nearest town Knysna and surrounding forests etc. Very safe , and beautifull.Place is in a good condition.Staff very helpfull and kind
- Albert (9/5): -
- Antoinette (9/5): -
- Gina (8/5): -
- Graham (9/5): Great accommodation at a great price - Location- close enough to knysna but dar enough from the hustle and bustle of the small town during festival time. Brenton on Sea is a very underrated part of knysna.
Facilities- the resort is very clean amd well kept. The kids enjoyed the games room and getting to watch the rugby in the restaurant area, which the admin assistant kindly arranged despite the restaurant being closed.
Management- Louis was a very friendly and accommodating host and made some very helping exceptions. Not much.. was hoping the jacuzzi would be operational, but this wasn't a massive issue.
Would've also been nic if the restaurant was open during this busy oyster festival period. But also not a major issue.
- Caryn (8/5): Very good -

Great play area for children.
Located near Knysna. Our TV was blurry a bit.

- Monique (7/5): Good -
- Marli (10/5): Exceptional -
- Craig (9/5): Our stay at Gooderson was awesome, peaceful and relaxing and we will definitely be back. - Everything was clean and well looked after. It's just outside Knysna central which was nice because it was nice and quiet in the evenings. The tv reception was bad but that didn't bother us too much as we didn't come to watch tv.
- Nazim (8/5): Very good -
- Bartosz (8/5): Very good - Helpful staff, especially the lady in the reception. They treat guests with respect and understanding.
