Guest Reviews
- LARA (8/5): - Our host was super responsive and friendly, and the location was great. Everything was very clean, but the room could use some updating. And the breakfast was just some wrapped pastries and coffee in the room.
- James (8/5): - Manager nice and helpful but check in process was a bit convoluted in terms of minimal hours reception desk being manned.
- Sally (10/5): - An absolutely amazing stay with the perfect host. Great location very close to the Metro, eateries, shops and centre of the city. Very quiet, comfortable and clean. Would highly recommended and certainly hope to return again one day.
- Peter (8/5): - Nice host , unusual accommodation
- Christopher (8/5): - AC stopped working last night.
- Michael (10/5): - Giulio is a great host. Couldn’t do enough for us. Great location. Restaurants and bars close by. Walkable to attractions.
- Alfredo (8/5): - Nice manager, Great Location. Big room.
- Will (10/5): - Giulio is the greatest !
- April (10/5): - We were upgraded to a great room, great customer service
- Evan (10/5): - Giulio was very kind and helpful, great location too!
- Luis (8/5): - I would leave a 5 stars because the service and information was timely and easy to follow. The place is in a very good location.
But, there is one aspect that really needs improvement. After a long day of walking, when you arrive to your hotel, there is nothing better than a good mattress. The one in the room we got seem to be old and very uncomfortable. Fix that and I am sure your future guests will highly appreciate it.
- Leo (10/5): - La Locanda is the perfect place, tucked away from the hustling, bustling streets of Milan. Our stay was incredibly comfortable, quiet, and relaxing. The location is superb! So close to the central station, the Duomo is walkable. We walked everywhere, enjoying the weather and the walks instead of taking the Metro.
Our host was incredible! He was so very personable and wonderful at communicating in advance and during our stay. He made our stay in Milan excellent and would go back for his service alone.
- Shane (10/5): - Friendly and knowledgeable staff who provided great recommendations for the area! A lovely place to stay
- arialys (10/5): - Excelelnt costumer service and location! Love it.
- Anna Linda (10/5): - Safe and quiet
- Philip (10/5): - For travelers who want a reasonably priced, very conveniently located guest-house type property with no frills but lots of charm, this is it. Owner is very helpful, and contactless check-in is easy. I liked the variety of restaurants on adjoining blocks; the metro, central station, and most museums were within walking distance. This is the ideal place for someone stopping in Milan on the way to somewhere else, it's not for those wanting a resort atmosphere or a venue for business meetings.
- Dong (8/5): - The owner/manager was helpful except some unanswered questions. AC or fan not working, opened windows but got mosquitoes.
- Philip (10/5): Lots of bang for the buck - Keeping in mind that it is set up as a guesthouse and not a full service hotel, it served my needs perfectly: a room for a couple nights en route to somewhere else. For that it offers tremendous value for a convenient location in a charming historic neighborhood with many great eateries and bars in the area and museums within walking distance. The proprietor is veru helpful and always available to answer questions via text if not at the desk. The property is near a subway stop with a connection to Limate airport and a tram line going right to the central rail station
- Kelly (10/5): - So nice!
- Khaoula (10/5): - Had an amazing stay - the staff is very lovely and professional
- Kathryn (8/5): - Very nice and helpful host; great location; close to metro and other transportation. Perfect for a short stay.
Only negative was BR had a smell, but figured out if we kept the seat down, all was well. Good amenities.
- Boris (8/5): - Good service, very friendly staff, good location. However, the room was tiny. Ceiling is low. Bathroom is also tiny
- Isobel (10/5): - Room was lovely, good location, Guilio is super friendly and gave us some really good reccomendations!! Would reccomend!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Really good checking in instructions and great location, close to some really nice bars and restaurants, feels safe to walk around. -About a 10-15 minute walk to the city centre. Very comfortable beds!
- Patrick (6/5): - So yeah you have to self check in and then check out is at 10 am. Not ideal
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very friendly helpful staff. Excellent location. Room was very simple, plain. Not a luxury B and B. Good value.
- Michelle Cooke (10/5): - Giullio, the owner is fabulous. From the moment we began communicating with him, he offered exceptional service, detailed directions to find his place & the codes to access his accommodations.
He greeted us on the walkway to his entrance with open arms, a huge smile on his face, & a beaming “Welcome”!
Honestly the best welcome I have ever received from anyone (other than my aunt).
His rooms are clean, with modern floors & wide hallways to easily roll suitcases, and the entire place is sprinkled with beautiful antiques from a previous business of his. The rooms have everything that is needed for any stay: comfy bed, desk, side table, fridge, amenities for the bathroom. The entire place is warm, safe and clean and inviting.
Giullio offered recommendations for a morning coffee & croissant at a French bakery around the corner, appetizers and cocktails by the Grand Canal, he walked us to the restaurant to make our dinner reservations with us & to ensure we knew where we were going. He pointed out where to shop for reasonably priced clothing. He was nothing short of an incredible host!! We wish we could have stayed with GIULLIO for longer !! Highly recommend. Will only stay here if we return to Milan.
- Oguz (10/5): Great location, great host with great price. - Excellent and safe location. Will definitely come back. Very lively neighborhood, with great restaurant choices for all kinds and all budgets. The rooms are located within the courtyard of a building, with a gate, which makes it very quiet and safe. Couple minutes of walking distance to the Metro and Tram stations. Short walk to Duomo and the local attractions. Our host Giulia was fantastic. Very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. He gave us great recommendations on local attractions and restaurant choices and provided us with a map that shows all local transit options, which was very helpful.
- Alejandro (8/5): - Nice property overall. I sleep well. Shower door fall apart, on my first day. Owner fix it right away. It's a bit challenging to use the tea pot. Since, In Italy, electrical plugs and outlets aren't standardized.
- Kristine (10/5): - This was a great and charming place to stay as a solo traveller! The host was lovely and offered many great suggestions to add to my itinerary. The neighborhood is lively and chic, with tons of amazing restaurant and bar options nearby, and I felt very safe day and night. The Porta Venezia train station is a few minutes walk to easily get anywhere you want in the city, although walking as much as possible is recommended to get the best feel for the vibe of the city. I highly recommend this B&B!
- Jessica (10/5): - We had such a wonderful stay at La Locanda. Not only were the rooms and beds incredibly comfortable, but we also were given wonderful recommendations from our host for breakfast, travel, and general activities. Very centrally located, easily accessible public transit, and a great value for the price. Would happily stay here again!
- Carina (10/5): - The property is ideally placed for walking to historical sites. Owner very kind and interested in where guests are from. Room verybunique
- Kristen (10/5): - Great, off-the-beaten path spot to explore a bit of Milan. I was only there for one night before catching my flight back to the US. Got lots of great suggestions and tips that were super helpful. Really a charming, comfortable spot!
- Stanislav (10/5): - Really awesome little cozy B&B in the center of Milan. Family run. The owner lived in the US and knows expectations of a traveler from the US market very well, speaks perfect English, very helpful, and responsive. Will stay again if I ever come to Milan.
- Carmen (10/5): - Great location. Walkable from central station and Milan Duomo. Lots of restaurants nearby
- J E J (10/5): - Superb independent boutique hotel / apartments, with a great welcome and host . Excellent area for dining and evening socialising with dozens of options, yet walkable to the centre via all the Milan Fashion attractions.
- Ian (2/5): - The check in was my worst experience of staying in hotels in 3 decades of business and personal travel in 4 continents. Way too complex and poorly explained before arrival. There should be a warning before booking this place that check in is problematic. Breakfast was a joke; old croissant and dry toast in plastic bags. Pillows were old and very compressed. A place to avoid in the future.
- Heiko (10/5): - Giulio was a welcoming host who checked in with us to make sure we didn’t have any issues finding the B&B or had delays with travel. He welcomed us like old friends and gave us recommendations on the area, including the best places to eat along with where to park.
Tip: If renting a vehicle, get the smallest car you can that will accommodate all your luggage, don’t get sold on the “upgrade. Parking will be easier.
The room was quaint, clean and quiet and the area felt safe to walk at night. Having a grocery store close allowed us to get fresh fruit and water at reasonable prices. Our check-out was easy and sad as we had to leave our host. Highly Recommended!
- Judy (8/5): - Outstanding host with a great location! Many restaurants and shops to easily access.
- Johnathan (10/5): - The host Giulo was the BEST. He made the check in process very easy and was so friendly his English was great which helped out so he can communicate with you on where to go in the city. The location is also THE best my girlfriend and I loved restaurant/bar right across the street and you also have easy accesses to supermarket. If you are looking for a vibrant area this is the place for you.
- Antonella (8/5): - Charming place, not a standard hotel. friendly check in. One needs to communicate in advance with host to arrange for keys. Safe and central. AC very noisy and not worth to turn on. Overall I had a very good experience.
- Darren (10/5): Great Find In Milan - Quirky accomodation, in a great spot with a really welcoming host.
- Alice (8/5): - Great location and nice owner. There are many good dining options near the hotel as well as shopping. The nice thing is that it is away from the tourist area yet a 25 min walk to Duomo.
If you are a light sleeper this property might not be the best as you can hear a lot of street noise and garbage and recycling in the morning.
Good price.
- Johanna (10/5): - Great host and location! Highly recommended
- Vera (10/5): - Giulio was extremely nice and helpful! The neighborhood is beautiful with lots of really nice trendy cafes and restaurants right next to the hotel. The rooms have very lovely original decor. Very pleasant experience!
- Vlad (10/5): - Great location. Fantastic host !
- Suzanne (10/5): - The service was amazing from the moment we arrived. The person who greeted us upon arrival was excellent and made sure that we would have a great stay. Highly recommend!
- Giovanni (10/5): - Easy
- Brian (10/5): - I can’t say enough about how warm and helpful the host Giulio is. Communication was great, he is just the most charming, helpful host that I have personally encountered. The room was good-sized, had air conditioning and was quiet. The facility feels like an old convent with artwork adorning the walls and tables. It was a fairly short cab ride from the train station to the location.
- maria (10/5): - Great friendly service and great location!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Funky in a lively neighborhood - This property is super - IF you like funky and different. If you are expecting chain hotel kind of luxury, look elsewhere.
Nice to have a human for check in and to find a hairdryer for me. The stay was too short stay; I’d do it again!
It was a gorgeous spring day so the entire neighborhood was crowding the cafes. Lovely to dine among regulars, with fewer tourists.
- Qin (8/5): - All good
- David (10/5): - Many nearby places for meals or just aperitivo. Good location. Nice, off the street location for quit and safety. Owner/manager very helpful.
- GLENN (10/5): - A gem of a find in Milan. I was upgraded to a larger room, which was enormous. The location was fantastic, walking distance to everything, plus less than 5mins to the clisest metro station. Lots of lical food options and shops close by. Staff were super friendly and very helpful.
- Joan (10/5): - Nice place in the middle of shops and restaurants. Very safe and walkable.Giullio is very friendly and helps with any question you could have
- JOHN (10/5): - Giullio is very accommodating and friendly! He recommended a lot of good places to see and restaurants to try. The room was clean and quiet.
- Albert (8/5): - Very convenient, a block away to a metro station.
- DORIT (10/5): - Lovingly care for rooms and decor, perfectly situated near Metro, shops, cafes and restaurants. Could not have asked for more.
Thank you Giulio for being such an hospitable and helpful host!
- Aydin (10/5): - Fantastic stay and hospitality
- Jana (10/5): - Just needed a place to sleep on a long layover. The space I had was good for one person, it was a little smaller than i thought it would be. The gentleman that helped with the booking was fantastic; he was very thorough with his directions. It was a very short Uber ride to and from the airport.
- Carlos (10/5): - Great location!
- Teresa (8/5): - The rooms are unique and the story of the building is amazing! Any issue was quickly resolved by Giulio, who is an excellent innkeeper....
- Sandra (10/5): - The most wonderful owner who made our stay special! Thank you 😀😀😀😀
- paulbO2992SY (10/5): Great place to stay in Milan - A hidden gem in a fantastic location, we were only in Milan for 2 days but it was an extremely pleasant experience. The owner is incredibly friendly and was very accommodating for our late check-in from a delayed flight (9:30 pm), and he also gave great recommendations for stuff to do in Milan. Room was unique, they're decorated with antique furniture and old painting There's a lot of restaurants and coffee shops in the area and it's located very close to public transport that leads right to the core. Would recommend highly.
- Antonio (10/5): - A little jewel in the centre of Milano. Fantastic single room and friendly and amazing customer service.
- Cheri (10/5): - We were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome and shown to our room. Super with recommendations!!! Will definitely stay there again when in Milan!
- Denise (10/5): - It's a great place to stay in Milan. It's near touristic places, metro and train stations. There are lots of places to eat nearby and also a good grocery store. Giulio is very kind and helpful.
- Michael (10/5): - The property was nicely remodeled to provide all contemporary amenities like elevator, AC, shower, bidet, etc.
Walls and ceiling were painted a la old Italian masters, it was very nice touch and made good impression.
- Barry (10/5): - Stay was great. Pillow was a bit rubbish and the bed was very firm. Otherwise a great place to stay. Very handy for lots of places.
- Anzie (10/5): - Great place, especially for a solo female traveller would come again
- Timothy (8/5): - Locanda is beautiful. Our train was delayed so we arrived well after the witching hour of 7pm, but our host was sympathetic. Unfortunately we had to leave first thing in the morning so we couldn't try the breakfast.
The place is not easy to find - especially in the dark. It's round a corner in Melzo St and you probably need a mobile to get in. For the tiny minority of s who are mobile free zones, life becomes increasingly more difficult...
- Maria (10/5): - Beautiful place! Lovely house and decorations, feel like home. The owner is very friendly and helpful. A
- NicoleTraveler3 (10/5): Hidden Gem - This boutique hotel has a historic feel. Each room is adorned is vintage art. The staff is helpful and welcomed us with a warm smile. The bathroom and bed were clean and comfortable.
The walls are thin though and we could hear our neighbors enter/exit their rooms.
- Fahmimun (10/5): - Absolutely LOVED my stay. The owner was extremely accommodating and friendly. He treats you like family. The location was great and the hotel was spacious and clean!! I will absolutely recommend staying at this hotel if you're in Milan!!
- Sarah (10/5): - While a bit difficult to find, this hotel suited us very well. The host offered excellent suggestions for dining and shopping.
- George (10/5): - Very clean rooms and management was top of the line
- Alberto (10/5): - La Locanda del Pino is a B&B located in a nice area of Milan, surrounded by some beautiful residencial buildings; Viennese style (?). The furniture resembles italian antique. My room was big, well furnished, and the private bathroom was also large. Some toiletry is provided. The room is kept clean, daily. The room has a very conveniente expresso machine, with cartridges, and otker breakfast items are provided. In case of needed help, Giulio is at the front desk. Most of the time. Subway station: Porta Venezia at less tnan 5 min walking.
- Pranshu (10/5): - Property is located at a premium location. One can reach in 10 mnts from Milano Centrale via Metro. There are multiple restaurants at walking distance. Duomo and Via MonteNapolione are 10 mnts walk from the property. It's a vintage property nicely done with all facilities.
Most importantly the host Giulio is a fantastic host. He is super helpful and responsive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this place in Milan. I was travelling with my wife so this place is very couple friendly.
- Ann (10/5): Friendliest hotel in Italy! - Loved Julius? at the front desk!! He was so accommodating and helpful, met us by name outside and had info & recommendations for the area. Very comfortable beds, would stay here again.
- Jasmine (10/5): A Great Stay at La Locanda - I loved my stay at La Locanda. Easy to find, close to lots of food and transit options, and the interior is really cool. Giulio was really efficient in assisting me with checking in and super kind in greeting me when I arrived and helping me find my way around. I'd definitely stay here again and I recommend others to do the same.
- william (10/5): - Excellent staff and location!
- Brenda (10/5): - Great location and with extra space in rooms, however, the best part was Giuglio, he is a rockstar and very helpful and kind, it was a great place to stay.
- Alexandra (10/5): - The property was in a good area, not too far from center, making a nice walk.
Guido our host was very helpful and kind. He gave us great tips about the city and things to do and also left us check out late.
The room was pretty big and there was coffee and snacks.
- Richard (10/5): Great stay - Fantastic artsy place
- 540bethe (10/5): Best hotel in Milan - Absolutely fantastic stay, Would 100% recommend. Great location only two minutes from P. Venetia metro, in a very nice area with plenty of coffee shops. We absolutely LOVED our stay and we’re so happy with the room!!
The owner is the friendliest gentleman with superb English, made us feel very welcome, recommended places to eat and guided us to the Navigli area which was fantastic for nightlife - we honestly couldn’t have wished for a better stay in Milan or a better B&B. Owner was very accommodating when we checked out at 8am and realised we’d left items in our room - he came down and met us instantly with a big smile.
Overall a fantastic, historic, unique building in a very safe neighbourhood. Will be back when we visit Milan again.
Thank you!!!
- Daniel (10/5): - The BnB was in a great location, close to the city center and within walking distance of underground stations and tram stops.
Giulio was incredibly welcoming and helpful
- David (6/5): - Lack of breakfast for a b & b was surprising and disappointing. Too removed and hard to find.
- Nathan (10/5): Great location - Overall wonderful experience. Giulio was wonderful and very friendly and accommodating. The one thing I wish I had known was that there is a fee for a check-in after 7:30 pm. Perhaps it was in the fine print. However I do not regret staying here—it is quaint and a perfect location. I would stay here again.
- Salvatore (10/5): - the place is excellent… close to the Milano movida.
The staff is polite and personable. The rooms are well cleaned and quite
- Rommel (10/5): - Was very clean, they are very accommodating. The staff made me feel like home and were extremely generous. Highly recommend and would stay again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): You can do better than this for the cost! - This B&B is in a convenient location, and the room was clean, but that's about all I can say for it, given the price point. You can do better, in Milan, for how much this place costs. Most crucial: it's basically a 4 or 5 room pod hotel--there technically are windows, but they have an opaque glazing and so admit little to no natural light, and you can't see out of them. The owner was friendly, but most of the time there is no employee on premises (except for one afternoon, when there was a cluster of young people at the front desk for several hours. Did they work there? I don't know. They didn't greet us as we squeezed past them through the narrow entry way). When it was time to check out, there were no employees around. We finally had to text the owner to find out where to leave our keys. There isn't the security or peace of mind of a hotel, or the comfort of staying in an actual apartment through airbnb. If this bnb cost 50 euros a night, that would be one thing--but it's way overpriced for the space and experience on offer.
- Yana (4/5): Tiny overpriced room - The hotel is bed and breakfast. There is noone there past 1 pm. TV impossible to operate. Room for one person extremely small. Has basement feel with small windows. Bathroom is weird and hard to navigate. Overpriced .
- arturog736 (10/5): Great Place to stat - the owner gave us a very clear explanation of what to do and in what order to avoid losing time, plus, he recomended us two town areas that are not usually finda on “things to do in milan” and the places were very cool, breakfast is very good
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I love the location. It’s close to all the transportation and shopping without being in the middle of the tourists.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I am not interested in providing more information.
- Federico (10/5): - A jewel in the heart of Porta Venezia trendy neighborhood. Excellent location and accessibility, extremely friendly staff.
- ykley (2/5): Overpriced far from luxury bnb - I can repeat everything to the letter that was said about this place 4 years ago in few reviews .I should have believed them .
Same unpleasant russian lady at breakfast.
Tiny tiny room like a monk cell with bad smell and tiny windows for very high price.
Owner was trying to tell me a fairytale in how its not him who put such price but hotel.com .Seeing how disappointed Iam wouldn't give me refund and I was forced to stay in that pathetic little closet. Bathroom is ridiculous. I had 2 bruises after using it. You have to climb on bide which is so close to sink . That's how I got my bruises. Shower is same small something in a corner. It opens toward toilet..you have to be very creative to navigate in that weird bathroom . If you are a tall person or a bit on heavy side be aware .
Owner was repeatedly told by numerous guests and in reviews about TV. I asked a girl he uses for greeting guests at night to call him and ask to help me with Tv..and she told him how this situation is ridiculous as all guests always have problem with it.
There are instructions but they dont help when wrong button is pressed.
And then there is noone there to help you as they leave at 1 pm. .
Which would be fine If everything was in working order.
I had to ask direction from a fellow in a business across from hotel and he said guests are always asking him to help how to get to this or that place.
So if you think you are paying extra for something luxury..think again. Nothing is luxury here ..not bedding ..not towels ..or toiletries ..or furniture or breakfast. Everything is simple and budget oriented.
On a plus size...location is really nice. Place is quiet . I think thats about all I can say good about this bnb.
For Same money I could get a decent hotel in the area with 24 hours front desk and a normal size room . In my opinion a roomthis size shouldn't be
used for humans .
.
- Senior653 (10/5): A Wonderful start for our two weeks in Northern Italy - We chose this Bed and Breakfast based on the experiences of others and we were not dissapointed. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and larger than what many city hotels would provide. Breakfast was first class. The whole Hotel was full of beautiful antique funiture and art pieces. The staff was friendly and helpful as advertised. The location was perfect seeing the beauty of old and new areas of Milan. The owner, who speaks English perfectly was helpful and recommend several of the better places we would eat during our stay. Thanks again. We will be back here.
- Vanessa (10/5): - Great location, close to the city centre and the metro. Fantastic and enthusiastic welcome with loads of great advice available, especially the recommendation on the nearby pizza restaurant!! Interiors upstairs were stunning, painted ceilings quite awesome. Breakfasts were extensive and extremely good.
- Lorenzo (10/5): - Very pleasant staff, Giulio was very helpful. Nice breakfast, fun neighborhood.
