- Catherine (7/5): The staff was nice and the property beautiful but the room was more like a roadside motel. - Location and the property The suite was very mediocre and plain. The mattress had a large sag in the middle and old. Not a $200 room. We thought they had a restaurant but it was only a yogurt fruit cup for sale at breakfast.

- David (1/5): Never again! - Brandy and Isabella were excellent host. Initial arrival and check in was great. End of stay was horrible and we will not be staying there again. 12 days after the fact!!! I accidentally left some very valuable and sentimental jewelry under my pillow in room 28. We checked out and drove 6 hours until we realized we left our jewelry. I called and left voice message and text and emails and had no response the day of. The next day I finally spoke to a rude and unprofessional staff receptionist named Bryan. I reached out over text, and phone calls for 2 days after checking out. Ryan seems to be the actual person responding to reviews and text messages and emails. He turned out to be awful to communicate with. The unprofessionalism and lack of courtesy or concern was appalling. Nothing he said he was going to do was done. I was completely lied to and completely disregarded and his responses were such that he was bothered by my calls and messages. He even had the nerve to hang up on me twice after I requested to speak to Isabella and Brandy who were our host. They are the only staff members that should be working there!! I finally spoke to the GM, Justin that next evening and he said he would personally assist me and contact me. Which never happened. says that because they were so booked that they could not devote any time to check my room or cleaning service department and/or the laundry room for my jewelry. This is what he said he would do the first-day I spoken to him! When he specifically told me he was going to personally check with his cleaning crew, the hotel room and he even said that he would check the laundry room himself. He said he suspected the linens were all swept up and placed in 1 of 3 bins. And he thought the jewelry was loaded with the linens. Justin said he was going to call me by the next day, which never happened!!!! I had a gold necklace and gold cross along with a black necklace and a wedding band under my pillow. I texted 7 days later and all I got was, "the investigation continues". There are no security boxes or safes in the room, and no other way to store valuables.

The AC rattled very loudy keeping me awake for the better part of the night. When I told the front desk in the morning a played a recording of the noise they offered me a complimentary coffee.... spent over 300 for room, food and drinks for one night, definitely not worth the money.

The ac needed to be cleaned or exchanged. It was full of mold, maintenance tried to clean it but it was a superficial clean. I had a headache while I was in the room

- Gina (10/5): - We were there for a quick, one night stay to see our daughter sing at Gruene Hall. The grounds were very well kept and pretty. The room was updated with great ammenities. The bed and pillows were the best we have had in a hotel in a very long time, and we travel A LOT! The only complaint we had was there are not enough plugs in the room for chargers. I wish we would of had more time to enjoy the rest of the grounds.
- Zoey (8/5): A happy pleasant stay. - Location was great. Staff helpful and pleasant. Lots to do around the facility. There were very few lamps and no light. The bathroom barn door had no handle and the door was heavy so made it tricky not to slam fingers. The paper cups that were provided were flimsy and not enough. No ice bucket. The facility is new so we know things will get ironed out. Just a few tweaks. The room was a little dirty. I look forward to coming again as they work out quirks and will recommend to others.
- Amy (10/5): Greatness in GRUENE - This place is AMAZING! Dustin and his staff are incredible. They greeted me with enthusiasm, they made rounds to check on the facilities and to converse with the guests and they remembered us by name. The amenities on the property are plentiful and loaded with options. There is a sauna, pickleball, pool, basketball, corn hole, horseshoes, fire pits, billiards and outdoor table games. The property is nestled on the Comal River and it is so peaceful, especially in the evenings; fireside. It is only 2 miles from Gruene proper so a short drive, Uber, or walk away. I am already trying to plan my next visit with friends.

- Mark (10/5): The French Cowboys have created a great hotel ! - Visit begins with a greeting from Lara at check in to being offered a coffee at check out. The recently remodeled room was great. Just as great as the room was all employees !
- Karis (9/5): This hotel has been so beautifully redone, perfect for a family stay. - The pool was very nice and the bar inside the clubhouse was a perfect addition. There was so much for the whole family to do from swimming to volleyball to live music. Nothing.
- Breanna (10/5): Great staff and accommodations - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had a wonderful stay at Hacienda Del Rio in Gruene, TX this past weekend! Even with a packed house, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Dustin went above and beyond to make sure every guest felt comfortable and right at home. His hospitality truly stood out and made the experience even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend Hacienda Del Rio to anyone visiting the area!

- Verified traveler (4/5): Eh.... - Chck in...Room not ready at 3 and we had to wait 30 mins for to check-in. Very limited parking and the space was very small near our building. Opened door and there was a musty smell inside the room. The rooms look as if the older roadside motel had been remodeled but not very well(painted and stained concretefloor). Bed was comfortable. Water did not get very hot but it was ok. The room had very good blackout curtain, that would have been great except the curtain on the door did not keep any of the light from the outdoor lights out of the room. So tried to sleep in lit up room. The grounds were nice and someone did do a good job with the outdoor areas. There is a bar in the reception building. The pool looks nice andthere is also a pool table inside. There is no breakfast area but you can spend a lot of money for pastries, fruit cups, and individual cereal cup($5 for that). The room was over $300 for a king bed and riverview room. This used to be a budget motel with river access. Over all I am not happy with this trip.

The Place on the river is not affiliated with the hotel so make sure and check their hours with them not the hotel. Late check out is $50. Make sure to get a room upgrade so you aren’t directly on the highway. For $200 I was expecting way better.

- Rhonda (10/5): - The property was so convenient to NB and Gruene! We had a great time in the clubhouse, playing shuffle board and having delicious drinks! The property is beautiful with a ton to do! I would suggest bringing your own bottled water, however. None is provided in the rooms, and the clubhouse has limited hours. We would definitely stay here again!

- Charles (10/5): Wonderful hotel right on the river - We so enjoyed our stay here. Room was very comfortable and pet friendly a plus! The pool area is so relaxing and clubhouse serves great drinks. The grounds are beautiful and right on the river. Firepits and grills available and a place to rent tubes to float right on the property. Will definitely be back!

- Brittney (6/5): - We were very excited to stay here, as it looked amazing on Instagram and a recent article that came out. I booked a Superior room that looked at the river. The property is cute and very Instagram-able. However, the rooms/buildings need a lot more work. The main window in the room has a blackout curtain. However, the door has a very thin curtain that doesn’t keep the bright lights out. I had to hang my clothes up on the door to try and diffuse the light. The picture shows my three dresses I used. The walls are also very thin and we could hear the TV from the neighboring room through 1 A.M. The A/C is also extremely loud. Between the light and the sounds, you 100% need a sleep mask and earplugs to be able to sleep here. It was one of the worst nights of sleep I have ever had in a long time. The shower also apparently only has one setting, which, thankfully, was a decent warm temperature. But, the shower also needs a curtain or something. We could also not figure out the automatic light, which would go off/on for about 14-30 seconds, depending on how it felt, I guess. I will say the bed was comfy. It’s just a shame that the room itself was not conducive for sleep. Because of the issues, we could not stay another night, desperate for sleep. We asked to check out the next morning and the manager did call us later that afternoon saying they would refund the rest of our stay, which was appreciated. Just be aware that if you need a quiet and dark room to sleep, this will not be it.
- Emily (8/5): - The property was conveniently located—5 minute drive to Gruene and right on the Guadalupe, with its own tubing service on site. The welcome drink was nice, and bar was fully stocked. The hotel lacked basic items—like overhead lighting, drawers, a mirror anywhere other than the bathroom, and working bathrooms in the common/reception area. It seemed they chose to focus on certain nice things on the 2024 remodel, but still overlooked some obvious and needed updates.

- Jason (8/5): - The Place is nice. Its a older property that has been remodeled and for the most part is nice. The Beds and Pillows would be great for a 20 something but not for a 50 something. The pool area was nice and the decks are great. I did notice that the trash cans around the property where not empty and s few overflowing. Appears that the grounds person doesn't really care about the area around the fire pits. Full cans, fire pits over flowing with ash and food can where someone tried to cook on them, Over all the place was clean and the AC worked good and the price was cheap.

Very old hotel that has had a fantastic renovation! Great clubhouse and grounds. Highly recommend! Beds are very low to the floor.

- Jacqueline (10/5): Beautiful Setting for Memory Making - This hotel is perfect for our visit. With family living nearby, they could join us for activities in the clubhouse, pool, volleyball court, etc and then leave us alone. The river is right there and the grounds are beautiful. The village of Greune on the other side of the highway offers numerous options for food and music. If there was a restaurant on the property, it would be perfect. Maybe in the future.

- Gabrielle (10/5): - Hacienda del Rio is one of those places you almost don’t want to tell people about because you want it to be your little secret. The property is gorgeous. You can sit by the river under the shade of giant trees. Watch the stars at night around one of a few campfire sites. Relax by the pool in a lounge chair under your own umbrella, or just chill in your super cool room with its subtle and classy earth tones, retro vibes and comfy beds. The clubhouse is very cool and the bar is just the right size with a great variety of offerings. The outdoor dining, basket ball and volley ball areas just add to overall resort feel of this quaint and cool hotel. Bonus: The staff and hotel communication is excellent!
