- Daniel (10/5): Nice little out of the way location, I was local for a training course and this was perfect - Nice, out of the way, less hotel more homely vibes. Lovely mother and son, super friendly and polite. Really enjoyed our brief conversations and to meet you both thank you.
Perfect for the stay over when on training course locally.
Hot shower, clean self catered accom, good WiFi, and discreet little place.
Photo attached doesn’t really do this lovely little stay justice.
Perfect for needs.

- Sophie (10/5): Such a welcoming host, lovely service and very well kept rooms - Julia was an absolute pleasure to meet, very friendly and welcoming. she took us through to our room and explained everything in depth and made sure we were happy with it all. the room and bathroom itself were very clean, nicely kept and comfortable. I would highly recommend and I hope to be back! thanks again
- Andrea (9/5): - Very comfortable, convenient, a very good price and Julia was very welcoming
- Sean (10/5): Very comfortable and excellent value - Wasn’t sure what to expect as the price was much better than others locally, but it was perfect - comfortable, clean and welcoming. The host’s recommendation of a place to eat in town a 15 minute walk away was spot on. Will definitely use again if I’m in the area.
- Clare (10/5): A wonderfully serene place to stay after a tiring day travelling! - Lovely decor and really cosy! The room was beautiful and the bed was really comfortable. It felt like a luxury retreat after an exhausting day! Nothing
- Jeni (10/5): - Richmond Lane guest house was the perfect base for us coming to Romsey for a wedding. The house was beautiful, we were shown around upon arrival and made to feel very welcome. Beautiful garden and very well kept, comfortable room. We had a lovely stay & would return if we needed to come to Romsey again.
- Fraser (9/5): - Excellent accommodation; very comfortable and clean. Host was friendly and informative. Would recommend to friends and family. The breakfast was the only slight let down. It was very limiting not only on what was available but the number of certain items was exact to the number of people staying in the B&B. Therefore if one wanted 2 yoghurts for example, one couldn't as this meant one was depriving the other guests who hadn't yet breakfasted. Ofc, this would also mean that if the other guests weren't as considerate as us, we would have been deprived ourselves. The pastries were cheap and dry.
Other than that, the facilities were superb!
- Trevor (10/5): Very well furnished and clean room. Delightful host as well - Lovely room and host
- Allan (5/5): -
- Gillian (8/5): - Friendly owner
Breakfast self service but lovely
Clean and well equipped room Price for a double room and 1adult same as price for same room and 2adults
Shower cubicle was quite small
- Lynda (10/5): - Everything, customer service excellent, easy check in, beautiful room, lovely breakfast,
- Emma (10/5): -
- Zoé (10/5): -
- Khalid (5/5): Not a good idea - Ease of access So small
- Rosemary (10/5): It was very comfortable and we were made to feel very welcome. - A good bathroom with a proper towel rail! Quiet location, lovely garden to sit or have breakfast in, but not in November!
Breakfast was good but basic - a selection of cereals, toast and preserves, cake and fruit.
- NEIL (9/5): -
- Caroline (10/5): Excellent stay , good value - Modern facilities , very clean

Excellent continental

- Lawrence (10/5): - Bijou chalet..staff awesome very friendly...cannot recommend enough...

- Peter (9/5): -
- Susan (8/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): Warm, welcoming and would definitely book again - The guest house was superb, the decor is lovely and the bed was very comfy. Everything you need is in your room and there is plenty of hot water. The lady that runs it is so helpful and kind. There were no negative points.
- Charles (8/5): Great B&B with a very helpful host: 8.5/10 - The room was very quiet, clean and comfortable with a very effective ceiling fan.
Julia was a great host - very friendly and accommodating.
Check-in and key collection were very easy.
The continental breakfast was good and I really appreciated that it was available throughout the day. It was so nice to come back at 9pm and still be able to grab a yoghurt and banana. This wasn't a negative for me but the house is about a 10 minute walk along the canal path from Romsey train station and from the nearest buses and a Co-op. Romsey town centre is about a 15 minutes walk. That suited me just fine, but most people will find themselves driving.
- Paul (10/5): - Everything was just right, no complaints from me
- Caroline (9/5): -
- Elizabeth (9/5): Very pleasant stay - Welcoming owner
Given privacy
All facilities needed for a comfortable stay.
Fresh fruit with continental breakfast
Very clean accomodation
Freshly percolated coffee
Fridge in room with water and milk
Plenty of space in bedroom.
Well sound proofed, not disturbed by other guests Set off the smoke alarm from the kettle in our bedroom. However no fuss made and turned the kettle away from smoke alarm and it soon stopped.
- Sandra (10/5): -
- Andrew (9/5): - The room was very clean and very well appointed. Julie’s care during the welcome and her attention to detail is evident in lots of nice little touches around the room and the wider guest house. A great place to stay in Romsey.
- Robert (8/5): Very pleasant and relaxing. Just please renew provisions each day - An unusual but very pleasant ‘lodge’ that is very modern with its own entrance as well as a rear decking area to relax and enjoy the peace. Modern walk-in shower in the bathroom. Nothing, it was great. Our only minus is that some of the food provisions that were there on our first day were not replaced for the second day. The breakfast materials were fine, basically cereals, fresh fruit and toast. There were a brioche slice and Borders biscuits on the first day so we naturally expected the same for the next but our second day only had what was left from the first day. Usually hotels and B&Bs top up their provisions each day.
- Jane (8/5): Lovely host... - Julia is a lovely host. Very friendly and explained how everything works. She made sure we had everything we needed or wanted too. The room is nice enough for just one or two nights. The en-suite shower is tiny though and for anyone on the big side it would be a bit tricky I think. 'Deluxe' can be a bit misleading.
I wish people didn't use that word, and just give room dimensions etc.
- Sally (8/5): Relaxing break - Hosts extremely nice . Good produce and plenty of it available for snacking and breakfast. Quiet area . Furnished very well . Nice outside seating . Nothing .
- Annalena (8/5): -
- Oleksandr (10/5): Great host, lovely place. - Great and Cousy room. Definitely worth of the money.
- Caroline (8/5): -
- Jane (10/5): -
- Gareth (10/5): Perfect, ideal and easy - This property is a hidden gem. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners. Everything in the chalet is of pristine condition and anything you could need it at hand! Nothing. Everything was amazing
- Coomber (7/5): -
- Hall (10/5): It was perfect. - We stayed one night and found the room very homely. There wasn’t anything we didn’t like.
- Bernard (10/5): - Accueil, installation, petit déjeuner Manque un parking
- Doyle (8/5): Going to football game in Southampton but didn’t want to stay there. This was close, cheaper and nicer! - Immaculate, comfortable, quiet, able to sit outside with a glass of wine. Help yourself fresh breakfast. Nothing
- Pat (9/5): A relaxing stay in a comfortable clean room where the proprietors were very helpful. - It was very clean and conveniently located. The host was very helpful. The self service continental breakfast was delightful with plenty of fresh fruit and yogurt. Our bathroom was snug.
- Leandra (10/5): Very pleasant stay at a very comfortable, clean and beautifully presented property - Smart room, well-equipped with thoughtful touches. Lovely garden area with plenty of relaxation space. Liked the self-help breakfast available at whatever time you wanted it. Nothing really - room was a little warm but there is a ceiling fan with three-speed settings.
- Sarah (10/5): Comfortable and quiet - The rooms are very comfortable, well appointed and lovely touches such as fresh milk, ceiling fan. Breakfast is a self serve buffet with cereal, yogurt, fruit and various breads. Tea, filter coffee and juice. The tables are set with lovely crockery. There’s a garden where you can sit out and relax.
- Deirdre (5/5): It was convenient for us to stay near to our rendezvous the following day - The property was clean Bedroom stuffed with furniture making very cramped for 2 people. We had difficulty working the overhead fan and light, no switch, a remote control. The proprietor was pleasant but obsessive about diet, gave my husband a lecture as he wanted sugar for his coffee. Breakfast ok, very cramped with 2 couples in a tiny space,no eggs, cold meat. Parking not so easy for a big car. We would not use this guest house again.
- Phil (10/5): Brilliant - Morden rooms with all the facilities that you need very clean, friendly staff. Breakfast could be better it was very standard no fruit just cereal and bread. if your a coffee lover like me it wasn't that nice as I would prefer to use full fat milk or coffee Mate so it wasn't tasting bitter.
- Douglas (9/5): Superb -
- Ed (9/5): a very good short break, in a very nice guest house - the hostess was lovely, house, room and garden excellent ,we would recommend it highly, thank you Julie all well
- Cathryn (9/5): Julia is lovely and our stay was very comfortable with a lovely laid back atmosphere. -
- Houston (9/5): Superb -
- Florence (10/5): Welcoming, comfortable stay - Very good self serve breakfast with fresh fruit .Friendly staff. Nice quiet garden .comfortable room. There was nothing to dislike
- John (8/5): Very good - Handy phone chargers next to bed Parking not easy
- Ray (8/5): Very good -
- Audrey (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was just lovely
- Carl (10/5): A lovely, quiet ,friendly guesthouse stay - Good breakfast. Thoughtful and warm host. Very welcoming. Very quiet spot. About a 3/4 mile to town centre which we were able to walk as way signposted for pedestrians. Near canal walk and Test river valley walk. Spotlessly clean and attention to detail. We had free access to beautiful sitting room and table seating outside in garden. Car parking on the drive. We were visiting family in the area and would definitely stay there again.
- Keith (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (8/5): Enjoyable stay. - Very friendly (and chatty) owner.
Made sure we had everything we needed.
- Maria (7/5): Good -
- Brian (10/5): A very enjoyable stay on our 59th wedding anniversary - We were met by Julia, who is very friendly, and gave us a lot of help and information about our accommodation and the arrangements for breakfast.
We had a very pleasant comfortable room which was equipped with everything we needed and attractively furnished.
We both slept well in the comfortable bed.
We enjoyed a very good breakfast with cereals fresh fruit and toast.
We very much enjoyed our one night in Richmond Lane Guest House, and will recommend it to anyone looking for a Guest House in Romsey area Nothing. Everything was good including the location
- Sarah (10/5): Peaceful and quiet location, beautifully decorated and just what I needed, thank you ☺️ - Gorgeous decor, lovely little touches in the room with fridge and fresh milk. Lounge and breakfast areas were so homely and the fresh fruit and breakfast items were so good! Very comfortable bed and such a welcoming host 🙂 Nothing! It was perfect 😍
One thing I will point out to people booking is to use the first line of the address in your sat nav instead of the postcode as mine took me somewhere else but it was no bother to re-navigate 🙂
- Edward (9/5): They were extremely helpful and it was a very pleasant stay! -
- Martin (6/5): Pleasant - Peaceful location . Bed was not comfy ,pillows to soft .shower had no pressure, also difficult to get flow temp right . Had no milk for tea/coffee in room .was asked for but never came .
- Tracey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jack (9/5): Perfect location for us, really friendly and responsive owners. -
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Janet (9/5): The owner went the extra mile to cater for requirements and accommodation was tastefully decorated. - Breakfast was good, nice view of lovely garden and possibility to sit out there. Facilities good. Friendly hostess. Steep drive, but manageable if not elderly. Bed rather too small for us (husband 6’3”).
- Elizabeth (9/5): A lovely welcoming place to stay. - Excellent facilites, very modern. Clean. Good location. Fabulous fresh coffee, fruits and cereals for breakfast. Our bed was noisy! I mean when you turned over to find a comfy spot.
- Grant (10/5): Homely, comfortable, friendly host delicious breakfast - Julia was very welcoming and friendly. Her communication was excellent and she was very accommodating even when we informed her last minute that we would be arriving late in the evening for a late check-in.
The rooms were very comfortable, well decorated and had nice little touches to make us feel at home
Great options for breakfast. Fruit was all fresh and sweet. Very minor. We arrived when it was dark, and it was not very clear which house it was. Drove past it a couple of times. Suggest some signage on the wall that shows the house number, so it's easily identified from the street.
- Sue (9/5): Lovely stay - Very friendly hosts and wonderful self service breakfast. Easy walk into Ramsey
- Louise (10/5): Comfortable room, lots of breakfast choices and a welcoming host. - Very convenient location, easy walk into town. Nothing really, but maybe the parking might be awkward if the property is fully booked!
- Frank (8/5): Good value overnight stay with helpful staff. - Had Overnight stay before embarking for a cruise. The room was comfortable with good facilities and lovely modern bathroom..The cold breakfast had plenty of choice of cereals, fruit and toast available. Nothing was too much trouble for the proprietors. Parking was very limited and I wasn’t happy with the option of parking my new car on a narrow street or the steep incline down to the premises.
- Janice (10/5): This was only booked as a stop over to a cruise, we would have loved to stop longer - The accommodation was very clean and there were lots of little touched to make our stay more enjoyable
- David (8/5): Convenient to visit our friend. - James was very helpful and had stocked up with food for our breakfasts.
- Stella (10/5): Perfect - Very comfortable
Made very welcome
- Erica (10/5): Exceptional - It was a cute chalet perfect for a couple getaway . Could have done with a bigger and better placed mirror for hair drying purposes. Hosts were friendly, welcoming and always ready to help. Breakfast was continental which was perfect for my tastes. Small area out back to sit was lovely too. Loved it and hope to return one day☺️
- Peter (8/5): The hosts made extra efforts to make our stay comfortable but were not intrusive in any way - Breakfast was a serve yourself with generous quantities of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, bread/toast and drinks provided. We arrived before the host had stocked so we were able to state preferences. The coffee-making, kettle, microwave oven/combi and hotplate would suit most needs but we didn't cook.
The shower and bathroom were lovely.
Very well placed for the Duke on the Test pub and Hilliers gardens The heating was cosy but an extra pillow for each bed would have made it more comfortable to sit in bed and watch TV. I always take my own duvet as I'm very temperature sensitive. I needed my 4.5 tog layer in addition to that provided.
- Mary (7/5): Very convenient location for our visit. Spotlessly clean and well cared for. -
- Deborah (10/5): Perfect! - Everything we needed was there, a very comfortable stay. The owner was very helpful, the whole house was super clean with every you need.
- Rose (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sharmane (10/5): Welcoming and comfortable stay..would definitely stay again a 5* accommodation. - Breakfast was continental but lovely and fresh..a great place to stay.
- Hererowe (10/5): Great Host. - I prefer a cooked breakfast, but very happy with items offered and flexibility to eat when you wished.
- Joshua (7/5): Nice hosts, very clean rooms - Comfortable room, good location for us to visit family in the area Comfier mattress / headboard
