I also liked the distance from the Carrillo beach. The service at the beach where you have restrooms, a shower and the chairs were extremely helpful and unexpected; that was a nice touch to the whole experience. just a minimum detail; we couldn't use the coffee maker in the room; when we tried to use it, there where small bugs we could not see if they where cockroach, so, we decided not to pass the coffee complementary at the room.

Il est très proche de la plage de Carillo sur laquelle l'hôtel propose des chaises longues. Nous avons dû changer de chambre pour la seconde car nous étions pas du tout dans les chambres supérieures que nous avions réservées. Le prix des repas le soir est exorbitant.

Wir als Familie haben den kurzen Aufenthalt auf der Durchreise genossen. Das Personal beim Frühstück war mehr mit dem eigenen Handy beschäftigt, als einen Blick auf das Buffet zu werfen. So entstanden oft Wartezeiten bei Kaffee, Obst und Rührei.
- Mateus (7/5): Atende relativamente bem para uma estadia curta - Localização excelente. A área externa é um grande destaque, com muito espaço, bastante verde e um ambiente agradável. As piscinas são boas e bem cuidadas. O atendimento é excelente, sempre atencioso e prestativo, e tudo estava muito limpo durante a estadia. Um diferencial importante é o serviço de transfer até a praia de Carrillo (que, inclusive, é muito melhor que Sámara), com suporte no local incluindo chuveiro, banheiro e cadeiras de praia, o que faz bastante diferença na experiência. O quarto é antigo e precisa urgentemente de reforma. As janelas não tinham vedação adequada. As mantas estavam gastas e manchadas, e o chuveiro espalhava água para todos os lados. Havia fios com conexões expostas no quarto, o que gera preocupação em relação à segurança. As toalhas disponibilizadas para uso na piscina e na praia também poderiam ser de melhor qualidade. Além disso, o café da manhã é bastante fraco, abaixo do esperado para o padrão geral do hotel.

- Olaf (8/5): Mooi verblijf in de buurt van Samara - Mooie kamer, leuk zwembad met een barretje. Lekker buffet ontbijt in de ochtend, we hebben een avond mee gegeten, goede keuken maar vrij prijzige gerechten. Het ligt boven aan een berg op 5 autominuten van het strand (er gaat ook een gratis shuffle) en 15 minuten van Samara, dit vonden we een leuk levendig stadje met voldoende restaurant keuze. Er stond bij de omschrijving dat er een balkon bij de kamer was maar dit is een frans balkon van 20cm diep. Er waren ook andere kamers die wel balkons hadden of een tuintje, jammer dat dit niet duidelijk omschreven was. Er stond een koffieautomaat maar de koffie werd niet bijgevuld tijdens het verblijf.

Que el personal de limpieza no deje los envades vacios del champu y gel en el baño sin remplazarlos al dia sgte Al igual para 4 personas habían dejado solo 1 champu y 1 gel. 1 papel higienico .Para 2 dias x 4 paxs.

Zudem ist das Hotel sehr familienfreundlich. Es gibt Shuttle Busse zum Strand und das Hotel mit lokalen Anbietern für Touren zusammen. Wir haben unter anderem Delfine sehen können.

No esta cerca de la playa, sin embargo tienen transporte gratis cada hora, los precios del restaurante los vi algo elevados, por lo que tenia que salir fuera del hotel a buscar restaurantes con opciones mas acordes al precio.

Hemos pasado muy buenas vacaciones en el hotel. Considerando precio y categoría el desayuno ha sido muy decepcionante. Preparaciones sin sabor, pocas opciones, huevos secos y recalentados. Cuando solicitábamos huevos preparados al momento nos indicaron que es de costo adicional. Más bien desayuno de hostal que de un hotel de 4 estrellas lo que es una pena porque las instalaciones y servicio son buenos.

- Gabrielle (9/5): Superb - Lovely hotel close to playa Carrillo with toilet/shower/beach chairs provided on the beach, it was good that they offered transport or you could drive yourself. The gardens were really pretty and there were good facilities for kids (small slides in the pool and a play area/trampoline). We were kindly upgraded from an upstairs standard room to a suite with a little kitchenette on arrival when they recognised we’d struggle with the stairs and the pram. This was much easier for us so we were very grateful and was handy for lunches as we didn’t always have to buy food (kids ate leftovers). Aircon was good though the room was perhaps a little dated (I think they have newer rooms). Nice pools - one big one, small kids one and extra one that no one seemed to use when we were there. The breakfast is really good and the restaurant food in general is very good, though perhaps a bit pricey for costa rica (though great portion sizes) Everyone working at the hotel was lovely and welcoming also. We felt very well looked after. I asked for a cot for our baby when we were there and they said they didn’t have one though I can see on reviews that others have been provided with one - perhaps lost in translation! There were lots to ants in the play area which is not ideal for kids though appreciate this is tricky to manage - just to be aware as they definitely bite.
- Cheryll (8/5): It’s a great place to stop for a night or 2 on your way to somewhere else. - The staff was exceptional and the pools were wonderful. I didn’t realize when it said 5 mins to the beach, it was by shuttle. It was not possible to walk there. The hotel is isolated and unless you have a car you are stuck with the hotel restaurant for all your meals. The restaurant was good but expensive. We went to the beach one day but it’s not maintained and the benches and tables tables are very dirty and falling to pieces. There are no restaurants or services at the beach.

The hotel has shuttle to the beach which is very convenient. We also used the complementary beach chairs and the bathroom at the beach.

Many thanks to Eddie and Henry the servers and chef who cooked our "catch of the day" for three days on the row. Chelsea,the receptionist helped us booking another 2 days and we didn't have to move the another room. The pools were very clean and the breakfast was delicious. We can't wait to return to this piece of paradise and we highly recommend it.

- Shireen (10/5): - I love boutique hotels and Leyenda is no exception. The grounds are quite beautiful. They greeted us with a welcome drink! We stayed for 3 nights total, family of 5. We had the superior 2 bedroom and the room was good but we did add an extra room after our first night for more space and another bathroom (my fault for thinking the 3 beds/1 bath would be sufficient with two teens). We enjoyed the big pool! Wished it was a bit cooler to be a refresh from the heat, or that a part of the pool had some shade (never thought I’d say that!) We ate 3 dinners here and each dinner was AMAZING! I can not recommend their dinners enough. Warning: the portions are HUGE and very shareable. Unfortunately, the complimentary breakfast buffet was not as good as their dinner. However, the made to order cappuccinos were lovely. We took the shuttle to the beach one day and I highly recommend Playa Carillo as it was the best beach we visited in Costa Rica. Just stunning! The next day we drove our rental car to the beach and back. Overall, I would return here again. For the price, the location and amenities are a great deal. PS. The Asiatic restaurant is not open, which we were looking forward to. Luckily that main restaurant had a large variety and incredible food.

- Joe (8/5): Beautiful hotel with great food and drinks - The hotel is lovely inside. The restaurant overlooks a parklike setting with a nice pool area. The waiters and the bar hostess by the pool was a gem. The food was very good and the drinks were exquisite! The locations is quite a distance from the beach so you definitely have to drive there. They do offer a shuttle service there and back.

We drove every day to Samara town for dinner ,and site seeing which was a pleasant drive. There’s some beautiful beaches around the resort as well. Enjoy your trip:)

Hotel Leyanda helped us so much when we reached out in advance to ask if two of their staff members would be a witness to our wedding. They responded quickly and were so helpful in the entire process. Thank you so much - we appreciate it so much. The witnesses were lovely and brought us a bottle of champagne to the beach to celebrate, and gave us a ride back. THANK YOU BOTH. The check-in experience was smooth and the member of staff on reception was very friendly. The hotel grounds were clean and pool was large with plenty of beds. Our room was nice and modern and was constantly kept very clean by housekeeping. The restaurant in the hotel was good, the food was good and it was reasonably priced, the service was also very good in the restaurant. The only issue we had with this hotel was that it was a little bit out of the way of Samara town itself and the closest beach which was Playa Carrillo Beach. However, the hotel provided a free shuttle (5 minute drive) to and from the beach and it had its own sunbeds etc. The driver was really prompt and explained where to meet etc. As for getting to Samara town (local town with shops, restaurants, bars etc - 15 minute drive away) the receptionist gave us the number of a local taxi driver, Javier. This taxi driver was AWESOME. So friendly and talkative and loved talking about Costa Rica with us. He was like a tour guide showing us around whilst driving us to Samara. We relied on Javier everyday we were in samara for a ride to and from the hotel which was £12 per time which was very reasonable. He was very reliable and one of the nicest people we met on our holiday. Great recommendation from the hotel. We would definitely stay at this hotel again as it was unique, clean, great pool area, lovely restaurant and great shuttle service to the beach and lovely staff. I would just recommend finding a reliable taxi service to and from Samara to make the most of your visit here.
