• 555derrym (10/5): Grand Rocky Hotel...Worth returning to. - This is a review of the restaurant at this lovely hotel and not of the hotel itself...I spent several days at Bukittinggi in January of this year,2026,and ,while I stayed elsewhere,I dined on several occasions in the restaurant at this lovely hotel...The food was exceptional-freshly prepared and ncely presented....The staff were friendly and welcoming and I want to mention Hari,Vanessa,Mutiara and Adhe in particular...Service was prompt and efficient and the setting was appealing....I am happy to give the restaurant at this hotel my highest recommendation....Definitely worth returning to.

• Nabila (9/5): - The property is a walking distance to almost all main attractions in Bukit Tinggi (Jam gadang and etc). The location is very convenient for my 2 night stays with my family. The staffs were very helpful and very welcoming. We love the vibe, the people, the location. This hotel is definitely recommended and it would be the best option if I go back to Bukit Tinggi in the future. Nothing.

• Fajar (5/5): so so - Location, breakfast, the staff There is no notification or announcement to the guest for evening time and keep silent and respect other guest. The room next to me 606 had a party till 3 in the morning, and other room was played with door bell after 10 pm. The hotel management should stress the silent time to its guests! as hotel room is a place for resting, not playing or partying. Additionally, the room was a bit dirty

• Chris (9/5): - Location very good. Few minutes walk to the centre. Safe area with a police station next door. As Bukittinggi is an elevated area the temperatures are lower than normal. Great but it also meant that the pool is , refreshing. Nice seat around the pool and you can order drinks and food. Staff very friendly. All in all a great place to stay

• Alia Raqin (6/5): - The location of Grand Rocky Hotel was excellent — close to attractions, shops, and restaurants. Breakfast was very good with a nice variety of local and international options. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The walls were very thin. We could clearly hear loud music, laughter, and talking from the room next door around midnight. It went on for almost two hours before we had to call reception to ask for assistance. Otherwise, it’s a nice hotel with good service and amenities — just wish the rooms were better soundproofed.

• Martin (8/5): A good choice. - Lovely room and balcony.Good breakfast The floor was dirty in our room but a nice cleaner cleaned it immediately.The lifts are super slow.The doorbells are very loud in neighbouring room.The singer was dreadful and the piano needs tuning.

• Suzie (9/5): Excellent location, comfy stay, canyon view balcony — but bathroom needs work - I stayed solo at Grand Rocky Hotel and truly appreciated the strategic location — only 5–10 minutes’ walk to Jam Gadang and Sianok Canyon, which made it easy to explore on foot. The room was spacious and comfortable, but what made it special was the balcony overlooking the canyon. The breeze was cool and calming — perfect for a morning coffee and peaceful start to the day. Breakfast was another highlight: a good spread of both local Minang dishes and continental/English-style options. Definitely more than I expected. Staff were polite and helpful throughout my stay. However, the bathroom needs attention — the rain shower had poor water flow (only about 15%), and hot water couldn't be adjusted properly, which made showering frustrating. Overall, I’d still recommend this hotel for its location, comfort, and view — just check the bathroom on check-in.
• mohdazizm (4/5): Not satisfied with my stay - First time at Bukit Tinggi and also booked with agent.Photo looked nice, check very smooth at 5th Flr first day after back from tour at night I family saw & catch 7 cockroach.I have to two rooms both have at 5 flr My daughter n grandchildren can't sleep,we asking room change ,We agreed with spilt room only one night. .On the 3rd night Sunday 16 June when I return from my one night at Danau at ,6pm hold room no water supply from afternoon till 9pm,.All the guest not happy can't take showers n wudhu sholat very frustrated. I & family have to go out without shower .When .The staff only apologise.I stay from Friday 14 till 19 Jun..breakfast not so fantastic..This my advise pls check the room /carpet /sink / broken taps before / chair n cabinet before the guest arrival.In future pls send apologies later every room and meet.guest.Be professional hotel and service..Only I'm satisfied with my driver becomes guide ,every attractions place his no 1.
• Karin (3/5): Rooms are not clean and very outdated. - The room was hardly cleaned. The carpet wasn’t vacuumed. In the bathroom the glass doors were greasy/ dirty. The curtains were broken. The stone table around the sink was broken. All in all a very poor experience, not according to western standards.

• Tina (8/5): A stay in the cool mountains on a grand scale. - Loved the old world ambience and the position of the hotel with respect to views of the volcanoes and mountains. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar was a pleasant spot to wind down. The menu allowed for local and western tastes and was tasty. Also can see why it is called Grand ‘Rocky’ hotel, what a collection. There seemed to be an issue with the bathroom drainage and the bathroom floor flooded. As it was fully tiled and we only stayed 2 nights this was not a major issue for us. Somehow the people talking loudly in a neighbouring room woke us at 3:00am in the morning. Perhaps the sound was travelling via the air con ducting? Just bad luck they were awake, I guess.

Aside, the walls is so thin that you can even hear whatever the next room is doing. Very noisy. And we could not sleep the whole night. Regret taking this hotel. However staff is nice there. Have drop a feedback on the cleaniness still no change.

The bed so comfy we slept well that night. The hotel was also walking distance to the tourist attraction. my stay was too short wish to stay one more night just to enjoy the view at night
