Guest Reviews
- Hart (8/5): -
- Rohane (10/5): Very nice room was a little dirty but was comfortable - I thought they were nice people in the office I was in a trucking and animal hauling area
- Jeanine (2/5): - Can't say much I liked about this place. Beds were noisy. Bad sign when you see a pest reject object plugged in the wall socket. I saw a bug crawling across my sheets, so my mom took apart the bedding and we found it was not bed bugs or roaches, but an earwig. The room was not cared for, spider web behind the fridge. Paint drips on the walls, the night light didn't work.
- Elaine (6/5): - I feel this room was overpriced for how shabby it was. The bed was a sagging mattress on a frame with no box spring. There was no soap for a shower. Towels were nice, and soft, though. The TV had no volume control.
- Samantha (4/5): - The updated TV and the outside look of things, water pressure Other than the obvious things that needed fixed, The room was very dirty and so were the sheets. I in fact took all of the sheets off the bed, sprayed everything down with alcohol and then I went to Walmart and bought cleaning supplies and a blanket just so I could stay the night. The lamp didn't work unless you screwed the light bulb in or out to turn it off, The power strip in the room had heat marks on it like it had been melting. The bathroom also needed cleaned however you can tell that they are trying to update based off of the new toilet, the new TV and the relatively new flooring they have put down in the bed area.
- Virendra (8/5): - Near all eating facilities
- RenaeDTurner (6/5): - There was no soap or shampoo provided, there was bar soap, but it looked like it had been used. Had to use hand soap for shower and shampoo.
- Rachel (8/5): Very good -
- Wanda (10/5): Nice and clean and definitely worth the money - This establishment was so awesome. The sweetest lady at the counter was kind and courteous even though it was very late. Easy check in and check out. Though it was small, it was very nice and comfortable. Definitely stay here again.
- Gilliam (5/5): Passable -
- Henry (2/5): - Bed sagged, bedding dirty, tub was filthy
- Daniel (2/5): Yikes! - The room was dirty. Taco Bell trash in the dresser drawer, trash under table. Only 1 towel to dry off with. Random pube looking hairs all over the bathroom and shower.
- Michael G (2/5): - Loud music in the parking lot. Looked unsafe,I called another hotel as soon as I saw the place. Too bad I lost my 85$
- Allen (2/5): - Place sucks
- Connie (2/5): - The bathroom was dirty, mold in shower around tub & ceiling. Sink fell off the wall when I turned the water on and shattered on the floor. Miss hitting my feet by inches. Toilet was dirty with black growth in bowl.
Staff was behind locked door with a doorbell for contact.
- Don (2/5): Very poor - Dirty, spider webs on the ceiling, Leaving the property
- MaryLou (4/5): Fountain Inn van Wert michigan - Online representation very misleading regarding room size, cleanliness, and overall motel appearance. Small room so crowded that could hardly walk between furniture. Cables strung along walls for tv, very difficult to locate outlets for phones, one small wafer soap for both shower and sink. Hand towel grossly stained air conditioner condenser so loud when kicked in awoke from sleep and then so loud and vibrated .. the longest night ever. Very very overpriced and owner would not compensate anything!!
- Lynnette (2/5): - We didn’t even stay here! It was smelly, rooms weren’t clean and the owner was more interested in her phone than waiting on us!
- Kevin (5/5): Passable -
- Robert (8/5): Very good - Very friendly! Easy to find. Comfortable! Hotel is in progress of remodel so a little rough around the edges but this was acceptable to me
- Jay (1/5): Bad - Nothing -1,000,000 should not be allowed in your site, horrible, left and got a different hotel This place should not be on your site, you cost me 100. By advertising this horrible place
- Kristina (1/5): Worst hotel I've ever been to & I only booked it out of desperation. - I was able to doordash food. The dead roach in the bathroom, the hard bed, the musty crusty smell, the fact that they charged me twice, etc etc honestly!! I only booked it out of desperation because we have been driving for 11hrs ( PA TO IOWA) with our 3 kids and just wanted to sleep on a bed, safe but this place was not it. I rather have paid extra for a better hotel!! But you live & learn. & it's true you get what you pay for.
- Joyce (4/5): - For $100 the night. Disappointing. The room was not very clean. Fortunately the bedding was clean. Everything felt “less than” clean. Sink was dirty and had hair. Bathtub the same. Everything needed a really good scrubbing.
Three police officers showed up and arrested the guy in the room next door. Not sure what that was all about.
For $100!! Wouldn’t stay there again.
- matvey (2/5): - Too dirty and not fixed. Especially for the price
- Joshua (6/5): - I liked the stove and refrigerator for a cheap price but didn’t like the check in process.
- James (2/5): - Don't ever go here! They charged an extra $5 because there were 2 of us. The room smelled smokey, the curtain rod was bent so the drape didn't cover the window, the blanket had holes in it, the mattress was poor, there was only one small bar of soap and no shampoo, just conditioner, the ceiling tiles were loose, and the TV only got one snowy channel.
- Jerry (2/5): Horror show - Run down dirty room uncomfortable beds rude front desk staff waaaay overpriced
- Mike (6/5): - Simple accommodations, easy in easy out. Nothing special for one night.
- Brett (2/5): - Room smelled so bad I didn’t stay
- Glen (6/5): Not a good place to stay - The room was one of the worst we have stayed in. The bathroom had a step up to it. The sink was so low it was hard to use. The hotel should probably be leveled. I hate to rate one this bad but it is bad. The people taking care of it were quite helpful though , so that was one good thing.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Other places we stayed on this trip were more convenient. The room was too crowded for two people and the price $105.66 which we paid was too much for the condition of the room.
- Robert (10/5): - Overall, I had a wonderful stay. I did not like the stove.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very old and all rooms smelled of stale smoke
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Too expensive for a dated and somewhat run-down property. The manager / staff was nice and easy to work with. The cost for a night's stay was not clear. I had signed up as one guest, but almost got charged for two. Also, they asked for an additional $5 to pay by credit card, so I paid cash. It took a lot of time to get hot water to the room. There were cobwebs on the ceiling. The manager did not mention anything about non-smoking rooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The bed was comfortable, the sheets were clean. The
- glenn (6/5): - Small mom and pop type motel they appear to be trying to update it and the rooms are clean.
- Steven (8/5): - Clean neat not to updated but clean great location would stay again
- Becky (6/5): Warm but nice - The room was clean and functional but I never got it cool enough to fall asleep for a long period. Dee - the person who greeted me - was very nice.
- Chuck (10/5): - Owner right on premises, all the rooms are very clean. No noise, smoking, or pets policy. There’s a lot of us that like that. Inexpensive and a great value on a budget.
- Chuck (10/5): - I’m a Construction worker, 50 and reserved. I look for the best value I can find. This place is remarkable, it’s on Main Street Smalltown, USA. Right next to park, local coffee shops, and small town stores. They have a sign up, “Smoke free, Pet free, Noise free!” I’ll stay here any time I’m in a 100 mile radius!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Horrible!!!!! Service was questionable...not prfessional at all... dirtiest place ive ever seen. Nothing was cleaned. Nobody to complain to. Nothing worked. Blood stains in bathroom. Hair everywhere ! Stive didnt even work. Wish I could get refund
- Darryl (8/5): Our home away for home - Great place to stay
- Dale (10/5): - Hotel check in was Excellent . Staff very friendly..Rooms very clean and comfortable. Walking distance to restuarants and Ymca to work out across the street.
- Dallas (6/5): In the heart of town - The location is excellent as it is in the heart of Van Wert. The staff was friendly. The room was clean, but the furnishings are very dated, but comfortable enough. However, the space is tight. There are no amenities except for cable.
- Melissa (8/5): Fountain Inn - This is a family run motel, very friendly and hospitable. The building is very old and could use some renovation but everything worked and was clean. I went to Vanwert for the harvest moon festival and friends, just a few blocks down on Main Street, so I just needed a place to stay after. I enjoyed my time there. I would definitely stay again. The prices were reasonable, nothing fancy.
- Sandra (2/5): Needs an inspection!! - We had 3 rooms. One room bathroom sink was clogged. Between the mattress & bedsprings were a pair of jeans (not ours-we check for bedbugs). There were pubic hairs in all 3 showersfrom previous guests & Extension cords for lamps & no plugs for electronics or curling iron. I would not recommend this hotel.
- Autumn (8/5): - The building is older and rooms a little on the small side but it was very well kept. The room was clean and the staff was very polite. Worth the money.
- Verified traveler (2/5): AVOID AT ALL COSTS - Appallingly bad. Surprise $5 charge added for using credit card (is that even legal?) and was overpriced to begin with. Rude clerk. Room REEKED of mildew (and now all my clothes do too). Not given the room that we reserved. Everything in terrible disrepair. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.
- Clarenda (10/5): Comfortable place!! - Very clean place. Helpful staff. Great rest!?
- Amy (8/5): Clean and comfortable - The hotel was clean, had a fridge, microwave and comfortable bed. If you want WiFi make sure to request a WiFi connected room beforehand!
- Koriana (8/5): - The bed was good, the room was a bit cluttered and smelled of too much sanitizer.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Inexpensive for short stay - It was just ok. Surprised they didn't check room before we got there. Light bulb missing in lamp and tv not working. Too late to bother changing rooms although there were plenty empty rooms.
- David (8/5): Nice Cozy place - Nice Cozy place, close to downtown, and nice places to eat and shop...
- Ali (4/5): Loud, noisy and shaking floor. - Loud, noisy and shaking floor. I let hotel owner know that. She said she would take care of it. Despite that loud banging continued. Plus, the bathroom floor and carpet were beyond disgusting!
- Peggy (4/5): No way stay - dirty
- Denise (6/5): Friendly staff/ owners - Clean no frills facility. Room was a bit crowded as it appeared the owners tried to ensure the furniture would meet all expectations. I was disappointed to find there was no coffee maker in the room, but there was a refrigerator and a microwave
- Verified traveler (8/5): - great stay
- Alvin (6/5): Bare bones, but clean. - The owner/manager is a hardworking lady that does all she can to provide a nice clean stay for her guests. The facilities are old and it has been a while since everything was updated. There are few extras such as cable TV, refrigerator and microwave, but don't expect the wifi to work, couldn't find an ice maker, were 2 thin slivers of soap and a sample of shampoo. Couldn't find hair dryer, iron or ironing board. Oh, and there was no closet, jut 2 hangers on the shower curtain rod. If you bring your own toiletries and don't need the other amenities then it is fine for an overnight stay.
- GALE (8/5): Place to stay - We needed a place near St Henry/Celina this was very moderately priced, clean. All we needed was a place to rest & it fufilled our needs.
- Rob A (6/5): A simple, no-frills place to crash inexpensively. - A hotel with all the basic necessities for those simply looking for a place to crash for the night. Wonderful people working behind the desk. Just what I needed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Unmatched customer service - The staff was extremely kind, understanding and generous. Having a hard time finding a ride to Cincinnati, the owner allowed me to remain in the room, without charge, while I figured out my way. Not only did she not charge me for the extra time, she even offered me a plate of food, drinks, snacks, etc. A note about the city Van Wert: There is only one taxi service in town which is closed on Sundays. There seemed to be two car rental companies in town, both of which are closed on Sunday. Cincinnati is three hours away and Fort Wayne is approximately 1.5 hours away. Buses, shuttles, trains, etc. don't seem to be offered in the small town. The room was quiet and equipped with cable, an empty mini-fridge, a full-size stove, and a microwave. If I were to return to Van Wert, Ohio, I would certainly stay at Fountain Inn again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): DONT STAY UNLESS YOU WANT BEDBUGS! - The only thing nice about the hotel was the receptionist and the location. But everything else SUCKED!!! The room had no AC. No room cleaning each night. The shower is ok except you have to have plies to activate the shower on the spigot. WORST THING!!! Bugs. The day I got home, I was eaten up with bed bug bites from shoulders to feet. and I'm scratching out of my skin. Im a fair and open minded person and I wanted to give this place a shot despite bad reviews read, but it wasnt worth the itching. GET A BETTER HOTEL DESPITE HIGHER PRICES! It'll be worth it!
- John (6/5): Cheap good - Need a cheap room. Clean nice staff. Crowded room. But good for price.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Cean room for a quick stay. - Clean room for a quick overnight stay. No coffee. No ice....told I could buy across the street.
