Lights were not working, the microwave caught on fire and the place just doesn't have a nice feeling. I would never stay there again and rather drive in for the day or stay in Coffee Bay and go and see the Hole in the Wall.

We left with allergy reactions that lasted us a week to settle. Very pathetic that first group ignore the cleanliness reports cause we asked around and NO ONE was satisfied with the cleanliness and apparently they don’t care to improve The bedding used is pathetically poor condition- has dirt marks from years ago . Bedding has mold stains - it’s just dirty and no normal person would use that for paid guests or let alone even an orphanage would reject that bedding as a donation- that’s how terrible it is We had to get there with our kids tired as hell after the drive and first clean the rooms, sweeping floors at 8pm before we slept and the amount of dirt and dust that was collected from that was droid that the rooms had not been cleaned in ages. Amongs the dirt we swept out from under our beds we found tampon plastics, ear buds, alcohol bottle tops (from under the couches) Each corner had spider webs and its catch - which proves that the spider me had been there for a while. In all I really thing it’s highly disheartening , disgusting and disappointing and disrespectful that you expect guests to sleep in such conditions . First group needs to take these reviews seriously

All of the unit main unit was good. Room8 backpackers had no electricity at the wall plugs and the fans for Room 7 and 8 were not working. Unit 14 our main unit we struggled with a tremendous number of ants all over, it got into everything. This after using almost 6 cans of doom to try and control the problem.

Towels were virtually unusable. Taps and toilets leaking, not maintained. Owners/Management need to visit facility and inject some funds to up standard to First Group level. This is the first facility under the the First Group banner that we have been disappointed.

Entering the resort you drive through a series of rural area, just outside the gate you'll find shacks. Going to the beach is a struggle, locals wait for you to exit and try to sell you all sorts of stuff to you, then continue to follow you around making you feel unsafe and unwelcome. Entering the unit we emediately noticed the filth, the floor is greasy, the bed had insects on the pillows and the kitchen was disgusting. The stove is not in a usable condition, even the fridge was dirty. Utensils was old, bent and broken. The summary of this resort is that is not up to anyone's standards, the pictures on the site needs a serious update as what was advertised was not at all what we got. Driving six hours for this was a huge disappointment. I hope no one has to experience what we did.

Also hated the fact you are forced to pay them to guide you, you literally have no option but to pay or not go to the hole in the wall. First of all, I booked an ocean view chalet, I was given one of the rondavels with no ocean nor field view none whatsoever. The sliding door was broken, had to improvise to have it closed (room 38) the bathroom had spider webs in the ceiling.

The receptionist was not very friendly. The place was extremely busy, making the pool impossible to use. Wifi only at the reception. The restaurant was not clean, and the food was average and slightly overpriced. As there are limited dining options nearby, it’s recommended to bring your own food.

A terrible smell from decaying old furniture greeted us, and the old fridge was leaking water everywhere. Everything was in a state of decay. The cleaning staff was working tirelessly to make guests happy, but they are let down by the owners, who are unwilling to renovate the property or upgrade the furniture. There was no Wi-Fi in the rooms, and the so-called Wi-Fi at the restaurant was completely useless. It's hard to believe that in 2026, Wi-Fi is still not provided as a standard; Wi-Fi is no longer a luxury but a fundamental necessity. What you pay for here does not match what you receive!

- Stacey (3/5): - The scenery of the location was absolutely beautiful even breathtaking The accommodations however were very dated and not well kept. The overall maintenance and upkeep of the accommodations was very poor and not well maintained. The places haven't had a decent paint job or cosmetic facelift in many years and that was so very evidence in the appearance and overall condition of the properties. Although the scenery is very beautiful, from our standpoint be condition of the accommodations wasn't worth day 7 hour drive we made. We could see that the property is up for sale. Perhaps the new honors will invest in upgrading all the accommodations as needed. Then there will be a place where people can come and enjoy the breathtaking beautiful scenery and experience the full comfort of clean and suitable accommodations.

- Bavuyile (4/5): - Unfortunately, our stay at First Group Hole in the Wall was a letdown. We struggled to reach the hotel via phone, with calls consistently going straight to voicemail. Upon arrival, we were delayed due to poor directions and inadequate communication from the hotel. We were surprised to find ourselves in a different room than the one we booked, which felt like a bait-and-switch. The room's old, dirty furniture appeared neglected, with no signs of recent updates. The hotel's advertisement was misleading, and we didn't receive the quality we paid for. We hope the hotel takes our feedback seriously and implement necessary changes!
