- Kit (6/5): - Washing machine doesn’t work. No one responds by message and call. The place is dirty, mould on the walls and windows. I can’t believe that it is preserved heritage.
- Gary (10/5): - This is the second time we've visited the Low Head, George Town area and wanted to stay at the pilot station. We were not disappointed; these charming old buildings are in great condition for their age. We had trouble with the gas heater in our unit but Jodi from the kiosk came to the rescue. The bed was comfortable; the kitchen well stocked with cooking equipment and parking was onsite and close to the unit. These units are old and have some "quirky" features at times. We would definitely stay there again on our next trip. The museum is well worth a visit too, there is so much history in this part of Tasmania.

Quiet, peaceful, great little house with a fully decked out kitchen, plenty of towels, extra blankets, toiletries etc. Heater was great and we were never cold despite the weather getting down to 2-3 degrees.

- Courtney (5/5): Lovely piece of history - Lovely old cottage set in a beautiful location with a rich history. Clean sheets and towels, clean kitchen. The history of the location explains why things are old etc. But the 'new' furnishings added are in quite a state. The rugs were disgusting - it very much was a shoes on at all times experience and one of the couches was the same.. An investment in design and quality furnishings and decor rather than an op shop mismatch would bring the location to life.

- Sandra (10/5): What an amazing little gem, thoroughly enojoyed our stay, should have stayed longer. - What can I say about this absolute treasure. Despite the cottages ages, they have been so well appointed. From the bathroom to the heating to the extemely comfortable bed. The cottage we stayed in was wonderful. The position is like no other right near the water with a lovely amount of space for extploring walking or even a game of footy if you had the whole family with you. There is the amazing coffee/cafe on the grounds, who make some of the best coffees I've tasted. Would thoroughly recommend, and absolutely wish we had of stayed longer. We loved it......if you don't appreciate the quirkiness of the age of the buildings you may not however, but it did not hinder our stay in any way, it just added to the charm and history of the place.

The Boatcrew cottage was very roomy and comfortable. Thoughtful inclusions such as cooking oil and rice was appreciated. The museum on site was fantastic and the penguins nearby capped off a very special stay.

The bathroom was very spacious and the bed and linen first rate. Great walking in the area to the lighthouse and surrounding area. We didn’t get to the museum but will next time. I’m telling everybody to stay here in future.

- Wendy (8/5): If you are looking for accommodation near to Low Head Lighthouse I would recommend this house. - The location at the Pilots Station allowed us to stay in authentic accommodation at Low Head close to the lighthouse. It was comfortable and quiet and we had lots of room in the house. A clothes line outside to hang up clothes would have been useful.

- Beth (8/5): Great place - so historic with the comforts - The historic houses are in the most amazing position on the bay edge. Cozy and a range of properties to suit all sizes of booking. We had a one bed cottage. We had a few maintenance issues like lights and aerial , but these were fixed within 10 minutes of texting - so very good service ! Great cafe part of precincts. The beat thing was the frozen meals like scallop pies with 11 scallops, lasagne etc . Great coffee and light meals and produce from local including wines and Fork it Farm- yumm. The cottages have microwaves, ours didnt have oven. We were recommended wineries by Josh (?) and the great Penguin tour- very worthwhile even though we have seen lots. No laundry- but we didnt need to wash at that stage of our trip.

- Jane (8/5): Unique historical cottage in a gorgeous location! - The Low Head Pilot Station is unique accommodation in an absolutely gorgeous and peaceful location. The Old Schoolhouse cottage is right on the waters edge, and is cute and cosy. The beds were comfortable. The decor is a bit ‘shabby chic’. We would stay again, but would book the Lighthouse Keepers cottage for the superb views. The self check in/check out was super easy. Penguin viewing night tour just minutes away, and is a must do! It is a pity the onsite cafe/providore does not open on Tuesday or Wednesday. The bathroom of the Schoolhouse cottage is in serious need of a refresh. There was a bad sewerage smell for our 3 night stay. The entry door lock and door handle are a bit tricky, and need some maintenance. Some comfortable outdoor chairs would be a great addition to this cottage, for sundowner drinks!

Outdoor space was lovely with table and chairs available. The lounge area was comfy and very spacious. We could have stayed here for DAYS!!! We did the Low Head Penguin Tour (separate from the property but right there! - FABULOUS!!!! Walking distance from the property to the lighthouse. An amazing experience! The onsite museum is really great too! a ton of info and exhibits of the history of the Low Head Pilots - what they were, how they came to be and the life of those who served.

- Alexander (8/5): We were glad to stay on this historic site and were grateful for the very comfortable bed. - The Pilot Station is a fantastic location and it is great to stay in a historic building. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was well-appointed. The sitting room did not have a cosy atmosphere. The basic cane lounge was not comfortable and is looking a bit shabby. A nail on the left arm of the lounge snagged a little hole in the sleeve my blouse. The bathroom window does not have any frosted glass, necessitating closing the curtain all the time. It would be easy and inexpensive to purchase contact plastic which looks like frosted glass and fix it to the lower panes of glass of the window.

Getting a meal in the evening proved difficult. We had to drive to nearby Georgetown..not far away. The first pub bistro was closed because they were catering for a wedding, the nearby restaurant was full, the only other pub said their bistro was closed (it was 7:58pm) so we pleaded with the local kebab shop to make kebabs even though they were closing...

We visited the penguin colony and were super surprised that when we returned back to the property they were also in the front yard to greet us. A wonderful stay! We did have people trying to enter the property via the lighthouse side. Maybe a do not enter sign would be better so that people know to stay out of the accomodation.

The view was amazing. There was nothing I could say that was bad, even though people come to look at the lighthouse you still have your own yard around the house.

- Kylie (7/5): Unique and charming but wasn’t welcoming on arrival. - We liked the uniqueness of the property. We arrived very late on Christmas Eve and it was ideal that we could preorder a home cooked style meal to have available for our arrival. There is plenty of heating which keeps the cottage warm. It would have been nice to arrive to a well lit cottage with the heating on. Instead we arrived to darkness, had no idea where to park our car, and it was cold inside. The main bedroom is very tight with no wardrobe options. Although we ordered a pre-cooked meal, we had to cook our own rice and at 10:30pm, that wasn’t appealing. Character and uniqueness is an appealing aspect of this accommodation, but when you have to put paper towel in the windows and door to stopped them banging from the wind, that’s not ideal. These inconveniences are a quick fix for the owners.

Such huge rooms and high ceilings. Very quiet. Great place for a large group of 7 people. Second bedroom was loud at night due to the flue not being sealed and the winds battering the boards. No potato peeler for dinner but otherwise well stocked kitchen.

Very poor value for money. A small long life milk was totally unsatisfactory. We were unable to use the dining table as lighting was so poor, with broken switch. The television was broken and wifi did not work. Furnishings were uncomfortable and very minimal.

The view is exceptional, the sun setting behind the lighthouse in the afternoon is the perfect spot to sit back and soak in the views. The house is equiped with everything you could possibly need. It is warm, cosy and the penguins, potoroos and other wildlife came right up to the house. A 10/10, bucket list stay. Nothing

- Terence (7/5): Excellent location. - Location wise perfect. Stunning views from the shoreline, historic buildings, and access to beaches, lighthouse, penguin sightseeing tour. Taking into account the age of the building, the internal decoration was 'tired' and in need of renovation. The sofa and other furniture looked like they had been rescued from the tip. They could do much better, as the bathroom testifies.
