Guest Reviews
- Kilbourne (10/5): Nice oasis after a long day of walking around the University of Georgia. - We were just there for one night on our way back from the University of Georgia, but we thoroughly enjoyed the Sparrow Grove Manor. As nice as the house is, the real surprise for me was how charming the town of Monroe was to visit. Everything is within walking distance and there were plenty of great choices for food and drinks. There really wasn't anything worth complaining about. But, the hot water in the bathroom does take a while to get hot. Again, really not a problem.
- Espino (10/5): Awesome stay at the Sparrow Grove Manor in Monroe - Wonderful Property, We have stayed here twice when visiting relatives in Monroe. We just LOVE this place. It has been remodeled with attention to every possible detail, from the beautiful tiles in the bathrooms, the super comfortable bed and pillows, bathrobes, nice thick towels, spotlessly clean. They offer sodas, water and snacks. In the center of town, where many first class Restaurants are within walking distance. HIGHLY recommend The Sparrow Grove Manor. Will stay there again. There was nothing I would make to improve the Manor.

- Lynn (10/5): It was a beautiful place and I would highly recommend it. - Our room was beautiful, very clean, the property was exceptional. The ONLY thing I can say negative is that the lighting was pretty dim in the room. It was hard to see to put on makeup.
- Douglas (10/5): - Very nice property. Self check in at a historic mansion. We stayed in suite 3 and it was nice and spacious. Walked to town and enjoyed dinner.
- Betsy (10/5): monroe ga - fabulous space restored antebellum home! 4 suites, secure entrance, beautiful & quiet.
- Emma (10/5): - It was lovely! Great room, beautiful bathroom, very cozy. Only wish that there was a mini fridge in the suite for left over food from the delicious restaurants in the area.

- Angela (10/5): It was quick but comfy stay! - Loved the atmosphere. Well decorated. Bed was very comfy!! Thank you! Had problem with window shade in bathroom. Could not get it to go down
- Johannes (10/5): Southern charme - The Sparrow Grove Manor is a lovely place with 4 suite in Monroe, Georgia, about halfway between Atlanta and Athens. It‘s a nicely renovated old house, having preserved its original Southern charme. Our room was spacious with an adjacent bathroom, all very clean.
All access information is provided online and access is by an entrance key. However, communication with the owner was easy and answers were provided very quickly.
We’d like to come back!
- Aevar (9/5): Superb - Lovely stay at a old and beautiful manor.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Place Was Amazing! - This place was awesome!
It only has 4 rooms so it was super quiet. As a matter of fact, I’m pretty sure I was the only one in the hotel the first night.
I had to call to get access to the hotel and then my room as there isn’t a front desk. But that was my fault for deleting an email that had that information in it. The lady was super helpful and made access very easy and quick.
She also let me know that there was a room downstairs that had snacks and drinks (soda, water etc) and to just help myself. That was a really cool touch.
And as far as access to local amenities, it was literally two blocks away from downtown.
If I need to be in Monroe, GA for any reason at all, this is where I will stay!
- Jeremiah (10/5): - Beautiful historic property with great modern updates where they need to be. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We’ll be back in the future
- Retha (10/5): - This property is beautiful! Amazing staff that make you feel at home and the rooms are absolutely amazing! Highly recommend!
- Charles (10/5): - What a cute historic property, great room (only 4 total so quiet). East entry and nice snack bar.
- Lauryn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Constance (10/5): Sparrow Grove Manor will be my home away from home any time I visit Monroe in the future. - Loved the suite I booked (suite 2). It had a living area and a bedroom, bathroom with shower and a tub in the bedroom. The bed was very comfortable, the water pressure great and the daily snacks, water and coffee (also coffee/tea in the room) were perfect. Also loved that the staff put an additional little table in my room for my personal snacks and beverages. I grew up in a Victorian home so I am used to the noise level these grand homes can have. If you are not on the top floor, you will hear the person above you walking around. Remember these are wood floors with area rugs. I personally didn't care but it is worth noting.
- Lori (10/5): celebrating a milestone birthday - loved the combination of charm and modern convenience! - we were looking for an Inn in the area and this was perfect! n/a
- Stephen (10/5): - We really enjoyed our 2-night stay. Quaint, well-restored 1890 home with 4 units. Our suite had a nice bedroom, sitting area and modern bath. We were in town for a wedding and this site was very convenient to the wedding venue and downtown Monroe. We met the owners who were very cordial and accommodating. My only negative was the lack of a large screen TV for viewing football.
- Michael (10/5): - What a charming place to be around the holidays. The rooms were clean and modern, yet the common spaces were beautifully traditional. Monroe has a lovely downtown and it was full of Christmas spirit!
- Kallen (10/5): Exceptional - Everything.
- Nicole (10/5): - We loved our stay! The suite was well decorated, clean and welcoming!
- Katherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shawn (10/5): - I wish I could stay here longer. This suite is so clean and perfect for anyone wanting to stay at a bed and breakfast. I highly recommend the Sparrow Hill Inn!
- Resa (10/5): Great wonderful place - We had a great time. The rooms were comfortable and it was a quaint place that made you feel like you were home. It was clean and comfortable. We also had our rehearsal dinner there and the staff was incredibly attentive and the old charm made it very special.
- Lydia (10/5): Great time!! - We really enjoyed out stay. We never saw or talked to any staff. We can and went as we pleased. The room was beautiful and so very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.
- Dave (10/5): - Lovely hotel, great rooms. Little disappointed that breakfast wasnt available, but we had a great stay.
- Laura (10/5): - Excellent
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The site was misrepresented as a bed and breakfast. I had searched for the perfect experience for our Wedding anniversary. As soon as I paid for the room I got an email that they were no longer serving breakfast even though it stated free breakfast and had pictures of a wonderful breakfast being served and a dining room. No one was there on premises to greet or assist . I expected so much more. We were on the 3 rd floor no elevator access. The room itself was beautiful and a great mix of modern and old. The restoration of the house beautiful. I spoke to the owner who said she would gladly refund the room but I had to get my money from hotels.com since I booked there. She stated they were no longer a bed and breakfast and she had paid someone to correct the website. Again it was strange and odd to have no one on site. Even the sign out front states bed and breakfast!!
- Eddie (10/5): - A beautiful Greek Revival home with well designed bedrooms and modern master baths. Comfort, with yesterday’s architecture. This is our second visit, and will be a yearly Christmas get away. Love It!👍😁❤️🎄,
- Robert (10/5): - Nice place!
- donna (8/5): Beautiful place. - Had a family wedding in town so made reservations here so we wouldn’t have to drive back after the wedding. Beautiful town. Because of COVID no breakfast available so we had to go hunting around for breakfast in the town. Never saw anyone other than other guests in the inn. It was a beautifully redone suite, the place is very clean and comfortable. We chose a b&b for more than just a place to stay but were denied that personal touch. Lesson learned.
- Chas (10/5): - Booked for my newlywed daughter and son-in-law.
They enjoyed their stay. Very quiet/peaceful B&B, they enjoyed the snacks provided and the garden area.
- Melinda (8/5): - Very beautiful. We had the top floor room which has a gorgeous seating area
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a lovely Inn. The property is just beautiful ... they kept all of the old world charm of the building but it's updated with all the conveniences as well. The staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was delicious. Monroe is a delightful little town and they happened to be having a Fall Festival while we were there which was very nice. I would definitely stay here again!
- Ellie (10/5): The perfect stay! - We loved everything about this place, it was so nice and welcoming. Amazing location! Room was nice and clean. 10/10
- HISAKO (10/5): - 部屋の間違いはありましたが、とても快適に過ごせました。とても清潔で、ここちよい日を過ごせました。わざわざ泊まりに行く甲斐がありました。
- Verified traveler (10/5): - There were many special touches, such as the 3rd floor parlour that had a stocked full size refrigerator with beverages, desserts, and a coffee and tea bar, jelly beans and nuts, snack bars, overlooking the rose garden. Bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept on...high quality linens, +++ thread count. Beautiful art adorns every room, hall, stairway. Original woodwork from 1890 throughout combined with modern ecclectic touches. Excellent TV. Delicious full breakfast with excellent service from our cheerful host Becca. There is nothing that could be improved! OUTSTANDING !
- Verified traveler (10/5): - EVERYTHING here has been top notch. Highly, highly recommend. So many thoughtful touches that I can't even begin to name them all here.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Historic restoration with modern finishes - Beautiful and historic home converted to B&B and event space. Our suite was spacious and technically slept 4 as there was an attached “sitting room” with Murphy bed. Combination of historic restoration and modern finishes make for a truly gorgeous B&B. If you’ve reason to go to Monroe, it’s worth it to stay at the Sparrow Hill Inn. Breakfast was good too. :)
- Verified traveler (10/5): Loved! - The Inn wa fabulous!!!
- Jennene (8/5): Great B & B - Awesome bed & breakfast. Farther from UGA than expected, but that was my fault. The AC was a little chilly & hard to adjust. The bed & towels were awesome
- David (8/5): Wonderful Experience - enjoyed our stay very comfortable and private B&B
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful BnB, great hosts, delicious breakfast, great amenities, modern appliances
- Verified traveler (2/5): Impractical Inn - No one to greet us. Not a soul in sight. 3rd floor unit, had to call for help with luggage. In our 70's. They had to call someone from outside. No furniture to store items or place on counter or shelf. They brought in tv stand so we'd have a place to put personal items. 2 sinks in bathroom, no counters. Wireless did not work. TV had cable only what town offered, which was nothing. No phone or clock in room. Town looked "sketchy." Restaurant suggested served horrible, greasy stuff. Decorated beautifully with no conception of practicality.
- Katie (10/5): A great B&B! - We were in town to attend a friend's wedding and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this bed and breakfast. The suite was fantastic and the staff incredible. They even helped in playing a little joke on my husband. We would definitely stay there again.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Absolutely awesome. Already planning a return. They even graciously covered our food allergies! One of the most beautiful B&B's I've stayed at. Loved it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice home to wait out hurricane Mathew. - A quite 3 day experience exploring smaller towns in Georgia. Beautiful weather and a great result in that we had no damage to our home. Matthew did let us that he nearby by taking down two 60' trees in our yard.
- Verified traveler (10/5): RomanticB&b - Wonderful food
Great attention to detail and comfort
- Susan M. (10/5): Rave review - We can't say enough about the lovely Sparrow Hill Inn. The home is lovely with so many special touches, and the proprietors go out of their way to make the guests feel welcome, comfortable and at home. The breakfast we enjoyed was simply scrumptious. Lastly, Monroe, GA is a cute town with a thriving town square. We hope our travels take us back to that area so that we can stay at Sparrow Hill again sometime.
- Verified traveler (4/5): A lonely place. - The inn keeper isn't present when you check in. It is like walking into a stranger's home. A rather uncomfortable feeling. The home is beautiful but there is no one to relate it's history or answer any questions you may have. We didn't know where to have dinner----again no one available to ilicit advise from other than by phone. We have stayed in B & B's world wide and this one left something to be desired.
- Doni (10/5): Beautiful! - It was absolutely wonderful! The property is absolutely beautiful. I look for to staying there again in the future.
- Paul (10/5): excellent! - We stayed in suite 1. It was beautiful, large room.
- Dinah (10/5): - This is a beautiful bed and breakfast that I will stay at again and again! The beds are very comfortable and the sheets are amazing! The owner is gracious and helpful and I just can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was!
- Pamela (10/5): Homey Luxury! - Ms. Mayfield is so multi-talented, I don't know where to begin! She has renovated this stately beauty from another era with a deft touch, retaining the home's grace and elegance while giving it new life by marrying modern design with touches of antiques and even whimsy --- but always with a practical eye on the fundamental needs and comfort of her guests. She herself is so welcoming and gracious, it was a pleasure to get to know her during our stay. And the breakfasts were so wonderful, we were excited to see what each morning would bring! I would recommend the Sparrow Hill Inn to anyone who was traveling through the area, or as a lovely getaway for a quiet birthday/anniversary. Ms. Mayfield has even thought ahead to those hosting an event, providing a lovely trellised green space and outdoor area for dining and/or dancing. I could not recommend this B&B more!
