Guest Reviews
- Limor (6/5): - We liked the location, the manager was responsive and changed our room after we weren't happy with the WIFI connection, though it didn't help much. We also received free breakfast for 2 mornings which helped us a bit with our experience. we hae a free parking place though no lights in the parking lot!
We didn't like that this property didn't have a good Wi-Fi connection and the kids always complained. though one of the rooms was a safe room. \
the rooms were not clean. and the kitchen was very dirty and we needed to clean it by our self because the cleaners were always in a different building and busy.... you better spend your money in a different place.
- Inna (8/5): - Great location with convenient parking and exceptionally friendly staff. Overall a pleasant stay, though the cleanliness of the towels could be improved.
- Naomi (6/5): - The location is fantastic! We had a garden suite which was lovely. However, the wifi was terrible. Kept going out and only worked, if at all, in the living room, not in the garden, bedroom or bathroom. We have stayed here many time over the past 10 years and they could use some updating. The bathroom needs renovation. There is a mini-tub, which cannot be used as a tub, and should be renovated as a new shower. There is the same rug in the living room for the past 10 years.
- Ron (10/5): - Clean and pleasant space in an excellent location. Very good communication, and parking was a plus. We would definitely come back.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Very friendly and acomidating staff, great location. Comes with a kitchenette, living room and bedroom.
- Jonathan (10/5): Second good stay at Rafael - Great service, great location in Baka, would happily stay here again
- Elliot (10/5): - Lovely place
- Verified traveler (10/5): Third stay - This was my third time staying at the Rafael Residence. Small one bedroom apartments. Convenient parking, friendly and accommodating staff, kitchenette, business friendly. Lovely neighborhood with excellent public transportation. Would definitely stay here again!
- Kenneth (10/5): - Have been here before and will come back again!
Great to have a little kitchen, living room, and bedroom.
- Elie (10/5): Excellent accommodation in Baka - Amazing location in the heart of Baka. Very clean and compact. Perfect for our needs. Good value for money. Coffee shops and shul nearby. Very pleasant handling, even when we came in very late at night. Will definitely be back.
- james (8/5): - Very comfortable spaces, nice kitchen, prompt service from hosts
- Thomas (6/5): More like a motel - Extremely run down more similar to a motel than a hotel.
Bed and pillows terrible
No working ac in bedroom
Towels smelled bad
Dust on night stands
One of the 2 tv didn’t work
Has potential to be great if they were updated grounds were beautiful
- Roman (8/5): - TV in bed room did not work and nobody was available to attend to it. Also, no way to lv a message in the evening/ night
- Pavel (10/5): - Very clean, spacious, suitable for various functionality.
- Alan (6/5): - We rented a 1-bedroom unit. The LR/DR was smaller than expected. Also no paper towels, tissues or dish soap. Washer/dryer was in the basement and coin operated; but there were nearby laundries with quick turn around
- Brian (6/5): - Everything was good except that the bathroom of our room (114) had the constant overpowering stench of sewage.
- Ethan (10/5): - This was our first time driving in Jerusalem so it was a little overwhelming, but Eli was very helpful in finding the building over the phone and getting the keys after hours. The unit was sufficient for our stay of 2 nights.
- Amnon (8/5): - Short but comfortable stay.
Good location.
- Manohar (8/5): - It is good property
Quick in reponding.
- Jean-Charles (10/5): Residence Raphael Jerusalem - Positive feedback.
Uneventful.
Will come back.
- Michael (8/5): - Very clean in excellent location. Staff were very friendly and accommodatin. Apartment is small and kitchen is not really useable for cooking. TV could do with updating and larger choice of English programs.
- Becky (10/5): - Great location! Quiet but fun atmosphere, around the property. Lots of shops and nice eateries nearby!
- Cathy (10/5): - It was a wonderful place to stay. I keep the Shabbat and they were very accommodating. They provided a hot water urn, hot plate and even a timer. I was able to entertain my family on the beautiful terrace for lunch. It was absolutely beautiful. I will be coming back! Thank you for a wonderful stay. Cathy
- Randy (10/5): - Beautiful and clean
- carole (8/5): - Nice place to stay, no amenities. Elevator was broken for the last few days. Bring Kleenex and paper towels.
- Dr. Joel (10/5): - Very helpful and friendly receptionist, Lior! Great location, comfortable property. Recommend!
- Zsach (6/5): - Dirty bloody bed sheets
Thank you Expedia for helping!!
- MARTIN (4/5): - Missing amenities in room. Bathroom sink didn't drain. No response
- Sean (10/5): Highly recommend - Really great place, great service, lovely apartment with small kitchen, 2 televisions.
Overall the accommodations are in great condition, also parking on street or in underground car park.
Highly recommend
- Meir (10/5): Great for families - Great place for families. Specious and comfortable.
- Lydia (4/5): - The heater smelled like urine and the bathroom was filthy.
- Jill B. (10/5): great apt and location! - Perfect alternative to a hotel- cute apt and great neighborhood
- Martin (4/5): - The staff were friendly but not overly supportive.
The apartment was tired and not very clean.
- Revital (10/5): nice place to atay - was very comfortable good location
10 min from the station area
if you are looking for quiet place to stay outside the center
but close to the night life in Jerusalem
- Verified traveler (10/5): - centerly located, quiet neighborhood, friendly people, very helpful
- GIl (10/5): Rafael residence. Pleasant place in Jerudalem - The price was affordable despite of the season.
The hotel is comfortable and quiet.
It's a big advantage to have ability to cook.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel is in nice building and in good location.
The big fridge is advantage. There was also small safe in the wardrobe.
The only thing is that once the sofa bed in sitting area is opened for kids' sleeping, there is no space left in this area.
Another "surprise" was the small letters string, saying "additional fees MAY apply to Israeli citizens" - this was the 17% additional VAT, so it changed the price shown on the page. By "surprise" I mean, that all the prices in Israel are already VAT included, but not this one.
The overall experience was very positive, though.
- George (8/5): - Clean, well located. Helpful staff. Very small rooms. Little room for even a couple of pieces of luggage so need to be very organized to avoid tripping over luggage and each other. Heaters/air conditioners noisy.
- Michael (8/5): Great option for 3-7 days. - Rafael Residence is an excellent choice for a stay of three or more days. The staff is extremely helpful and the rooms are clean and have space for getting settled, though not enough to feel “at home”. The heat and a/c work well, the showers are fine and the towels are great. The kitchenette is fine for breakfast or simple snacking or small meals. The location is great for walking to the central neighborhoods of Jerusalem and the Old City. There are two main roads within one block and another within three, so buses and taxis are a breeze. Lots of necessary shopping within a block and more within a five minute walk, including a makolet, good bakery, cafes, and produce stand all just steps away.
- Neal C. (10/5): Overall a positive experience - Staff was amazing at being on top of our stay. Contacted us several times to make sure the rooms were set up according to our needs.
Location is excellent.
Only downside was that the room was a bit small for 3 adults and we ended up having to take an additional room for the 3rd person last minute at the peak rate.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - There wasn’t really anything unique to the Property but the price.. I guess you get what you pay for. Rooms poked tired and towels for showering were very worn
- Verified traveler (10/5): - nice location , clean room , would come back again
- Joseph N. (8/5): Convenient location, fine amenities, poor wifi - Raphael Residences provides a comfortable, practical and reasonably priced solution to business travelers looking to make a home base in Baka. The staff is courteous and diligent, and the daily cleaning service is a big plus. The two drawbacks are: 1. There is only a single air conditioning unit in the living room - so on a hot day/night, you have to choose between being comfortable and closing the bedroom door. This is mentioned in many reviews so I knew what to expect going in, and as a solo traveler, it was no problem for me. 2. The wifi was unreliable at best, unusable at worst. This is both a major annoyance, and should be easy to fix.
- Carmen (8/5): Very nice quiet hotel - This is a very hotel. Once arrival Lito offered something to drink and gave me a early check in which a greatly appreciated. I had a little apartment with kitchen, living area. Bed was very comfortable and AC worked good. Vert nice quite area with wine, food shops. I did not give 5 stars just because is a little bit far. Thank you guys for a great stay
- RepeatGuest (10/5): - The location in Baca beautiful end very peaceful compared to the city. The management and housekeeping staff are friendly, professional and efficient. It is a very basic hotel but clean and comfortable. The kitchenette is a great alternative to going out for all meals, and the local specialty stores are nearby.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property manager was great about coordinating taxis and shuttles for us. Lior was very helpful and made our stay pleasant!
- Abraham (6/5): Meh - The apartments are quite nice (small) and the location is in a great neighborhood. The parking garage is useful if you have a car. The kitchen is nice too. But Jerusalem can get quite cold in the winter and the heater was only in the living room so the bedroom could get *really* cold. Service was not great. I asked for a shabbat hot water plate (twice) and it was not provided. The phone was broken. The safe was not enabled. A promised 10% discount at a local cafe had been discontinued and management didn't bother to delete it from the binder in the room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a wonderful location and the suites are beautiful. My only concern is that the kitchen had only dinnerware and flatware but no cooking utensils. I asked for a pan and sharp knife and they were promptly provided. I don’t know if they would have provided more equipment if asked.
Also, there isnt a 24 desk but a ph # you can call for emergencies.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lior, the manager, was very helpful and kind. The apartment is in a very lovely location within walking distance to Tachanat Rishona (First Sation) and Emek Refaim. The apartment was very clean and modern. The only thing that wasn't so great was the shower pressure. Otherwise, I'd stay here again!
- Michael (6/5): - The suite was clean but very much smaller than expected since it was rated as superb. I would rate it as good and adequate. The toilet seat was broken and the air conditioner did not work properly. The bathroom at the reception was not clean and the coffee facility was disappointing. The manager was helpful and nice.
- Patrick&Anita (8/5): - We liked the location (plenty of shops / restaurants close by, good proximity to the First Station complex as well as old railway track walking route, Cinematheque, and pleasant walking route to old city). We also very much enjoyed daily breakfasts at the associated Grand Café at the front of the building, sitting outside watching the street wake up. Our ground floor apartment was very comfortable (we didn't use our terraced area much other than the first day but it was good to have that option) and the kitchenette was sufficient to our fairly minimal needs in that area. Interaction and communication with the reception desk staff (mainly Lior) was first rate. The apartment was serviced daily and whilst cleanliness was ok superficially the rooms would benefit from a good deep clean once in a while. The only other aspect of RR that grated a little was the small sized bathroom, as it was difficult not to keep bumping into the hard edges shower partition that was adjacent to the small sink area. That said, OVERALL definitely RR is a very good place to stay, at reasonable rates and overall a very good quality place to base ourselves for a week. The penthouse apartment looks pretty good on the website but as there were ony 2 of us we couldn't justify the upgrade! Thanks to Lior and all at RR.
- Sanda (6/5): - They didn't understand that we were staying with a 5 year old and set up a crib with no extra bedding or blankets. Was very cold!!!! The heater didn't work right and there was no heat in our bedroom. I was not able to get more blankets because we came in late and I did not have the emergency number available inside the room. Sad because we changed our reservation from a different hotel just to stay there:(
- GILA (10/5): we loved it - perfact stay. close to old city. 2 rooms apartment with all the necessaties. spacious. comfortable .very clean. the owner is nice and attentive. parking. t.v . a great place to be.
- Bettina (10/5): - Great service and lovely area.
Local breakfast was terrible ask for vouchers for Landwer cafe
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Having a 1 bedroom apartment worked out very well for our needs Lior went out of his way to accommodate our late arrival, with detailed instructions on how to get in after hours. Location was great, we pretty much walked everywhere we wanted to go, or were able to pick up buses near by.
- Diana (10/5): - Beautiful hidden away apt/ room great location with walking distance and bus to everything Lior at front desk is humorous and knowledgeable to point you in right direction. We enjoyed our stay and Lior made it nicer with wonderful hospitality
- Howie (10/5): Convenient and as advertised - Fantastic location - suite with a bedroom and living room & kitchenette makes life easy -Includes parking in an area where it is near impossible to park -Attentive staff make it easy to stay - I have been there 3-4 times already and keep coming back
- refael (8/5): Nice affordable accommodation in a great location - The hotel is clean, quiet, in a beautiful neighborhood in Jerusalem. The location of the hotel is excellent, very close to shops, restaurants, supermarkets etc. which makes life easier, especially if you come with kids. The rooms were a little less spacious than what we expected, but still met our needs.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice place, is quiet, can walk to many sites, and has good parking
- tamar (10/5): OUR HOME IN JESUSALEM - IT WAS NOT OUR FIRST TIME AT THE RAPHAEL, WE ENJOY SO MUCH THAT WE CAME AGAIN AND AGAIN, IT'S A GREAT PLACE, NO COMPLAINS.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Excellent location, within walking distance of old train station, Emek Refaim, city centre etc in beautiful, lush neighbourhood. Apartment is light & airy, but small. Bedroom & eating corner in particular are a bit of a squeeze. Kitchen equipment is absolutely basic. Would’ve been nice to have some supplies short-term visitors not likely to buy - olive oil, paper towels etc. Beds just ok, not particularly comfortable; pillows lumpy. However, managers very happy to help with change of pillows, extra towels etc. Overall, not a sense of generosity in terms of supplies ( tea, coffee, soaps, even toilet paper)....
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value - This was a great location for my 3 days in Jerusalem. It is near some wonderful amenities. The room was small and tidy and parking was available either in the garage or in surface spaces. Very nice place and a good value.
- naomi (8/5): Comfortable, friendly and well cared for place - We have returned to the Rafael Residence a number of times. This time we had a slightly smaller apartment. When we requested a change we were told it was sold out but that next time we should requester the larger suite. The staff is friendly and helpful. The service is excellent. They change towels, clear up, wash dishes each day. There is free parking. The location is excellent. There is a grocery store nearby as well as an excellent fruit and vegetable store. There’s a lovely cafe downstairs and many restaurants nearby.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Place - Not only was the room clean and welcoming, the staff were super helpful and pleasant. Couldn’t ask for better accommodations.
- Michael (10/5): Great weekend in Jerusalem - Very clean and pleasant room. Also very child friendly sleeping set-up! The staff was also super accommodating for our late check-out for Shabbat. Only small complaint is the room heater was a little buggy. Would go again in a heartbeat.
- Charles (10/5): Great suite hotel. - I keep on coming back to the Rafael. I've stayed several times over the last few years and the quality is maintained. It's clean, the beds are comfortable and everything works. There is private parking (a big plus in this part of Jerusalem) and I always get a warm welcome. Oh, it's great value for money as well.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very comfortable, has a parking, well equipped and conditioned
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Room is a little small for family, but comfortable enough.
- Chris (10/5): Wonderful apartment - The apartments are very clean and spacious in a nice quiet neighbourhood about a 25 minute walk from the old city. We hired a car for a day or two and could park outside the apartment which was handy. Good cafe/bar on site for breakfast or evening meal.
Friendly staff and a great stay.
- Helen (10/5): Excellent location - Rafael Residence well located in the lovely Baka neighbourhood close to shops and restaurants. A 25 minute walk from Mamilla and the entrance to the Old City. 8/9 minutes to the German Colony.
We had the advantage of a little terrace in our room which made everything feel more spacious.
Well equipped kitchenette with good size fridge.
Sofa bed for old 16 year old son. A bit of a squeeze as he is tall so he could not sleep on it lengthways. No bottom sheet on bed which I should have asked for. Double bed next door.
Small bathroom.
All in good working order and excellent TV.
Cleanliness could have been a little better - floors and bathroom shelf, area around washbasin not really touched during our stay.
However in all we found Residence very convenient and peaceful and would stay again.
- Mary (8/5): Great position . Convenient shops close by. - Position of apartments could not be faulted. Staff bent over backwards to be helpful.
The only criticism of the apartments was the cleanliness of them. It needs a female touch or more cleaners for the amount of apartments.
- Jeff (8/5): Convenient for Baka and Talpiot - We had reservations at the Rafael Residence based on flights to Israel with Monarch Airlines. This company ceased flying 6 days before we were due to go to Israel. Lior at the Rafael Residence was very helpful moving our reservation one day later as we had to find different flights with other airlines at short notice. At check-out he let us leave our bags in the office and even helped me fix a SIM problem with my iPhone using a safety pin he had in his pocket. I will give you the pin back next time Lior!
We will definitely be staying at the Rafael Residence when we come back to Jerusalem early next year.
The 10% in Grand Cafe when we showed our Rafael Residence key cards was very welcome as was the provision of a Shabbat key for the weekend too!
- Michael (10/5): - A very pleasant stay. Our room was clean and spacious. Breakfast in the adjoining restaurant was excellent, we would stay there again and recommend it highly unless one wanted 5 star accommodation.
- Annette (8/5): Comfy neighborhood stay in bustling historic city - Old fashion, welcoming sign in at reception. Quiet and clean. Easy to set up a family and live.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location , practical parking - The room inside the suite did not have an ac . We had to leave the door open to let the air from the living room enter the bedroom , So ni privacy since we had guests sleeping in the sofa
- Leah (8/5): - We were there for the opening ceremony of the Maccabiah games and the office called us a taxi. It was a little difficult to find a taxi driver from the bus station who actually knew where the hotel was, but we used WAZE to get there. Getting from the stadium to the hotel, the taxi driver knew exactly where it was because, I think it was his area and he knew Baka well. Overall comfortable. The breakfast at the restaurant right next to the hotel was tasty and the service was good.
- mark (10/5): A gem in one of the elite neighborhoods. - Great location for dining and walking. Centralized to all tourist activities. Basically a small one bedroom apt. with kitchen. Very quiet and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): It was a nice modern hotel that felt like an Apt. - I traveled alone so my room fit me perfectly. It was modern, cleaned everyday, and was in a nice quite neighborhood. I had a car so the Temple was about 12-15 mins away. Parking was easy and had a gate. The staff was really nice. I would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We chose this apartment hotel in the German Colony because of its location to a synagogue where we were attending a service. Although it was situated on a main road there was no noise as the apartments are down a right of way.
At the front of the hotel was an excellent café open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was within walking distance to the First Station - cafes, etc - and it would be another 15 minutes to walk to the old city
