- Verified traveler (10/5): Friendly staff and prime location! - My sister and I stayed at Ueno Hotel for 10 days—the staff was extremely friendly and helpful and I had no problem speaking with them in English. The room itself is on the smaller side but we could fit a carry on and two checked in bags in our room with enough space to spare for walking around. One thing that did catch us off guard is that the hallways are open-air, a bit different from hotels in the US but it was not a problem for us. The location is also super prime as it’s close to the station and the park, will definitely be booking a stay here again if I come back to Japan!

- Pablo (10/5): - I stayed in an 2 queen bed type room with its own private outside tub. I absolutely liked the room. I would've loved to see some black out curtains available. Mornings were very bright. Difficult to sleep in with the rooms brightness level without curtains. I thought it was odd that they was two seperate buildings, yet it wasn't a deal breaker. I enjoyed staying here. Be warned that the street is very noisy at night and even though the area looks like if it's not safe to walk around at night, its very safe. Many women on the street at night. Idk about the area being family friendly after dark with all the bars and womenon the street. In tbe opinion of 2 single guys, we absolutely loved the convenience of having a variety of bars, food, outside markets, convenience stores, and transportation options so close by. I would stay here again.
- Cody (8/5): - Ueno Hotel wasnabout a 10 min. Walk to Ueno station, along the way are some good spots to eat like Yoshinoya, and convince store for snacks and Bento Box. The staff was friendly, helpful and spoke english well. I walked around at night and early mornings, even hit some side road and back road and felt safe the whole time.

The room itself is pretty small but that was to be expected and can’t be helped. It was also slightly dusty but that wasn’t really a problem for me. I’ll definitely be staying here again!

- NIall (8/5): Just right for day sightseeing base - Perfect for what I needed-just a room to sleep in between sightseeing adventures. Staff very friendly and accommodating-left my luggage for a few hours both before checking in and checking out and retrieved an item I had left in room safe. If I was back in Ueno it would probably be my first choice for convenience and familiarity
- Sergio (8/5): Old-school - This is an interesting building with an inner open-air courtyard that all rooms connect to. It's well located, although still quite a walk to Ueno Station, or the Ueno shopping and restaurant area. It was clean and tidy, but also had the smallest of all the rooms that we stayed in while in Japan! No real room to maneuver or work with two suitcases. You also had to come down to the lobby to get fresh towels or garbage bags

Used water bottle still on top of the desk/ tv counter. Room feels unclean. Bedsheet underneath duvet had some men's hair on it. (I have long hair) I slept on top of duvet instead. Too tired to go down again and complain. Will never go near this hotel ever again. I am disgusted.

The staff was friendly and knew English, I had to arrive rather late to my booking but they were kind and ran through everything I needed to know, they also leave a complimentary water in the room and that was nice! Shower floor was kinda not the cleanest as there were some hairs in it on arrival, the bed backboard had a few small stains on it and the wall the bed was pushed against had some streaks. Otherwise the accommodations were well priced and convenient! I got a room with a single double bed and when the listing says it’s small it’s SMALL! Haha enough for a single suitcase at the foot of the bed, thankfully I was solo at the time but if you’re sharing with a friend it’ll be a real squeeze!

There is no storage. You live out of your suitcase and that takes up much needed space. The bathroom is nice. The breakfast is cheap but you are better off going to Lawson’s.

The breakfast is also very nice. My son loves the breakfast very much! I saw they have washer and dryer on site though we did not use it.

Room was very tiny. Not enough outlets for electronics. Barely room for a lot of luggage. It was like an office space converted into a hotel room. Again good for a night but if you have a large family and lots of luggage I wouldn't recommend it.

Only provided us with one key card. Bottle water only free on the first day and no boiler in room. Plus side, can borrow scale to weigh luggage at front desk. Some nice cafes nearby.

The room itself was clean, but the hallway leading to the room is open-air: loud and somewhat smoky due to the location. However, the room doors are fairly well insulated so that the noise is mostly kept out.
- tania (10/5): - Budget friendly hotel close to Ueno station, no complaints. We shipped our luggage here and it arrived on time and the hotel held our luggage until we arrived. They also held our luggage after check out since our flight wasn’t until 5pm and checkout was at 11am.

- Keenan (4/5): - My main complaint is the cleanliness of the room. Each and every wall was covered in food and other mystery stains giving it an uncomfortable atmostphere. Additionally being on a main street there is a lot of road traffic noise. Overall it has everything a hotel needs though so it gets some points for that.

- david (8/5): - Always stay at the Ueno Hotel whenever in Tokyo. Nice surroundings and convenient. Amenities have deteriorated. No more black tea available, no more water kettle in room, staff, although friendly, are mainly foreign and know little about Tokyo. Results of inflation and not enough Japanese workers.
- Boo Tiong (2/5): Poor hotel - One of the worst experience with this hotel. a little isolated with no restaurants around and room cleaning service was sub standard. no hot water heater in the room and one source was from the lobby but not replenish regularly. the bed was too low and only a very soft and worn out pillow provided that cause stiff neck.
- Boo Tiong (2/5): - The location of the hotel is not conducive and lack nice earning place. It’s too far away from Ueno station. Housekeeping is bad with missing towels and waste on the floor. There is no electric kettles in the room and very inconvenient to get hot water from the lobby. Bed is too low and only 1 pillow as a result most of us in this trip got stiff neck after 6 nights
- Tom (8/5): - Very friendly staff. Almost all the staff spoke English like a native speaker which is very helpful for a tourist. Breakfast option with your room is a must. Tried so many things I would have never tried before as the breakfast is a Japanese style. Rooms are tidy and comfortable. The shower I had was huge. Lawson right across the street. If you are looking for dining options, do not walk to the left if you are leaving the hotel, there is nothing there for blocks except a Dominoes pizza. Walk towards the Lawson until you come to the Indian restaurant and either eat there or make a right. A few short blocks is a main street with tons of options. I frequently used the back exit stairs to make the short two block walk to Ueno Station. I will definitely stay at the Ueno Hotel again when I go back to the area.

- Jason (2/5): - The room hadn't been deep cleaned in a while. The beds looked ok. My daugher got head lice. If that isn't enough, every once in a while there was a terrible smell in the room. And not a smell like someone had smoked in the room. A smell like there was a dead animal.
- Douglas (6/5): - Room is very small. 12 sq meters doesn’t allow much space for suitcases. Price is high by US standards, but this is Japan. We avoided the breakfast offering, opting to go to Ueno Station restaurants instead. They charge 1000 yen per hour to extend past 11am checkout. Biggest plus is proximity to Kendrick Station to get train to Narita.

Close to train station. Pump soap, shampoo and conditioner provided. Shower always hot. Beer vending machines on some floors.

Rooms were a bit smaller than expected. We had 2 in our room and was sold as 3. Definitely would not want another person in the room. No place at all for a suitcase that wasn’t in the walkway. Did use the washer/dryer. Thankfully we started early. By 9pm there was a line waiting because the dryer takes minimum of 1.5 hours. Had to ask for ice. Vending machines on each floor selling beverages including beer.
- Regina (10/5): - This property is great for the value. Star courteous. Located short walk to express line to Narita airport. Shorter walk to Ueno train hub. Walk to market-type shopping streets. Room is small but manageable for two adults. QUEEN size bed is great. Get creative on storage. Hotel provides 4 hooks for clothes, no drawers. We used our empty suitcase like nightstands and stacked our clothes on top for easier access. We were there for 5 nights and used it as a hub to Disney, the museums, trip to modern Tokyo, etc. Hotel has 24hr coffee and tea. We didn’t do the breakfast option. Hotel stores our luggage until our flight in the evening. Great range of places to eat.
- Christen (8/5): - I like this hotel - it's a bargain in a good location. Reasonably-sized rooms by Japanese standards, and a front desk that speaks English well enough that I didn't have to rely on my lousy Japanese. Pricey breakfast for what you get, but quite convenient. Strange to see them throw out the non-breakfast seated guests at 7 a.m. sharp. The breakfast onigiri is particularly large and good. There isn't a smoking area anymore, so you may need to walk a bit to find a smoking spot if you're a smoker. Good reasonably priced laundry facilities. The common areas are very cold in the winter time. Overall, good solid accommodations at a fair price.

- Seiko (8/5): - I like the room. Very clean and has a spacious toilet and shower area. The bedroom itself is small. My friend and I stayed in the double beds, and we couldn’t open our suit cases. We had to put them up on our beds to open. Other than that, I like the inexpensive price.
- Lloyd (8/5): Ueno Hotel - Property was clean, updated, affordable. Access from the Ueno Station-Iriya Gate is easy. Having a sit down area in the lobby with tables and self serve cold and hot water, ice, and coffee was a nice touch. Employees were friendly and professional.
- Weng Fatt (8/5): - Stayed 5 nights. Got 2 bottled water on the 3rd day. Requested cleaning twice only for the entire stay. Breakfast is a challenge for our 3 year old kid. Good thing they have free coffee 24/7 at the lobby.
- Francis (8/5): Needs more cleaning - Location is further away from Ueno station due to constructions. Room is very good with blocking noise out. Bedding is clean but lots of dust gathered on table top and behind the TV.
