Guest Reviews
- Christopher (1/5): This was the worst place that I have ever stayed in. I had better conditions in the military. The only good thing about - Nothing on the property. The taco truck across the street had amazing food. Everything. Shower did not work, smelt like cigarettes, bed had stains, Ac did not work.

- Nicholas (9/5): I’m grateful for the Red Carpet Inn when returning to my hometown. - Great! I have history with the building! Remember it as the old historic Cohansey Hotel. Nice having a downtown Bridgeton hotel. Stairs! But not a problem.

- April (3/5): the shower should work, check your facilities. - The shower didn't work, the location was not great.
- Jessica (10/5): - The lovely agent at the desk made sure the stay was comfortable
- Gail (4/5): - There was no food or drink, not even coffee in the morning. The bed was comfortable. The room was dated. Elevator was broken. The hallways were gross. Couldn’t park in the parking lot due to a festival had to park across the street at the bank. The guy checking us was very nice and apologetic.
- Xavi. (7/5): Great location - Overall clean and the location was perfect. The only thing I didn't like was that for whatever reason, someone opened my door at approximately 0300 am. Weather was by accident, or staff member. I find that concerning.
Great place other than that 👌
- Stacy (8/5): - The staff was very friendly. The room was clean.
- Michael (10/5): - Room nicer than expected, interesting older property style but modernly appointed and well maintained. Elevator out of service and room on third floor but no issues. Keep in mind the area itself is a bit run down but there are great dining options regardless, and lots to do in the area (check out the free Cohanzick zoo, or the Vineland flea market; also recommend: Danny's Pizza, Custard Corral, Golden Palace, El Universal, Fuleen Meng).
- Sophiea (3/5): I would never stay there again. It’s was one night only. - The location of the hotel was very convenient from what I had to do & go at for the next morning. The room was messy & the only thing that wasn’t was the bed… the bath tub had dirt in it. I had to get the housekeeper to re-clean it. There were a lot of flies, I had to go to Walmart & buy bug spray for my room.
- Nikea (1/5): Bad - Nothing Whole place
- Conor (2/5): - Just really dirty and gross.
- Theresa (10/5): - Clean, convenient. Nice staff
- Megan (4/5): - Check in took forever, elevator broken, whole hotel was really hot, AC barely worked
- K (2/5): - This was probably the worst place I have stayed in 40yrs. I would have slept in my truck at the track if I didn’t need a shower.
- Isaiah (10/5): - It's was good clean and peaceful
- Hilda (2/5): - That was the worst hotel that I’ve ever stayed at! The young man who worked there was very nice!! The tub was a science experiment with all the dirt and debris that was under that mat!! Horrible! The moldy door shower curtain. When it was time to sleep. I could not I was eaten alive in that room. I sprayed the beds with Lysol! I used in both beds and still eaten up! After the bugs were done with me an alarm went off at 3:08 am!!! The best thing about this visit were the food trucks across the street! Never again!!
- Edlin (10/5): - Good
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Jose (8/5): Very good -
- Owen (1/5): Hotel from Hell - Nothing. Everything was horrible. It was a bad experience. The elevator was broken and there was no WiFi. I had to say something because it was getting worse by the minute. The advertisements are beyond false. The room was dirty, crumbs and hair everywhere. Also, the staff at the front desk kept the "Be back in 15 minutes" sign up - I was waiting in the lobby for an hour because the key card didn't work. I asked the people at the front desk - why didn't you say something about the elevator or the WiFi and they said because I didn't ask. The county jail is right down the street. I believe that would have been a better stay - sleeping in my car would have been better. It was just a horrible experience. Two days for $264.70. Please do not go to this hole in the wall; this has to be the worst hotel in America.
- Ruth (7/5): Good -
- Angela (8/5): - Other guest not quiet
- Madelin (1/5): Bad -
- Angela (8/5): - Owner and manager are really nice. They are upgrading property which is nice.
- Maclean (4/5): - First of all, Expedia, you said this hotel was 29 miles away. Sure. If you have a helicopter, but us normal people need to drive. It was 77 miles from where I wanted to be.
This hotel appears to be going through renovation, which is good, because it desperately needs it. Among the nastiest hotel carpet I've ever seen, and I once explored the ruins of an abandoned resort. I was afraid to touch it, even with my socks. The hair dryer was cut off and missing, but the WIRES WERE STILL THERE and presumably connected to the mains.
The bed was firm but comfortable, though it shook like a trampoline every time someone rolled over. There was no fitted sheet, just a flat sheet and a bedspread.
Staff were wonderful and as accommodating as they could be, given the state of the premises. I want to emphasize this. They were wonderful people, and I wish them well and thank them for their work
- Miguel (2/5): - I didn’t stay was terrible
- Anushree (2/5): - Not recommended for family. Sirens / Noises in the hallway, random alarms keep going out all night.
Bedsheets are dirty - and bathrooms are clogged.
Not recommended for anyone!
- Katiane (6/5): - I like tue room and sheets very clean. But the area is not good plus the hotel loby super dirty
- Angela (8/5): - My key never works on the 2nd day.
- garnet159 (4/5): Don't do it! - After reading the bad reviews from a while ago, I wanted to give this place a chance, hoping things were better. They're NOT. We got there after dark and had to park in a municipal parking lot behind the hotel. Then we had to walk through an alley with overflowing dumpsters to the back door. I thought it would be locked, but it was propped open with a brick. This concerned me because the whole area didn't seem safe. After taking our bags up the stairs (the elevator was out of service, of course) to our 2nd floor room, we were approached by a man who didn't speak English. He asked me something in a language I didn't understand and proceeded to follow us to our room. When I unlocked our door, he went in ahead of me, said something, then turned around and left. I immediately locked and bolted our door after we went in. The TV was on and when I tried to turn it off with the remote, it didn't work. It had to be turned off manually. One of the beds did not have a complete set of sheets. I will say that the bed was comfortable though. The A/C unit was busted up, but it did work wonderfully. We were in the upstairs corner room and being a Saturday night in the middle of town, it was extremely noisy until around midnight or so. There were holes in the walls and what looked like wax stuck to the floor. The towels were tiny and there were no hand towels, only bath towels and washcloths. The water was nice and hot, but there wasn't very good pressure. The toilet paper holder wasn't fastened when we got there and I had to put it together. It smelled musty and the rugs in the hallways were dirty. Thank goodness we were only there for the night and were able to check out early the next morning. I realize this is not a 5-star hotel and the price was cheaper than anything else in the area, but $100+ was most definitely a rip off for this place. Do yourself a favor and stay away!
- Bobbi (2/5): Terrible - Woke up to find a dime baggy with a white residue in it stuck to my side. Still not sure how considering I checked the beds for bugs. I asked for a bucket to get ice and they said they have nothing. If we had some where else to go that evening we would have. Absolutely filthy.
- Angelia (6/5): - It ok the bldg it old but they take good care of it just need irion blower better ac that won’t make noice for two day the price was high for a place that don’t have a machine for refreshments iron and blower hope that they take care that soon because the staff it great
- Lynda (8/5): - The room was clean and the bed was comfy. It suited our purpose and was affordable.
- Pilar (3/5): Poor - Not a good experience
- Verified traveler (2/5): Red Carpet Inn Bridgeton - I would not recommend this motel, even at $129/night. It was very difficult to close the door to the room, the TV didn't work, the ice machine looked like its been broken for years, dirty carpeting throughout the property, no towels in the room, the toilet ran all night after being flushed until i opened the tank and got it to stop running, no one at the front desk at checkout so I left after waiting 5 minutes. They were able to change my room from a King bed room, to two doubles, which was better for my son and I. The parking lot was shared with other businesses and there were many people loitering out there, making it feel like an unsafe place to park. Travelers should keep in mind this motel looks like it was built 50 years ago and no maintenance has gone into it since. Im not one to complain, but Hotels.com should probably remove this property from their inventory. Also, i would appreciate a refund or some sort of credit for the future as this was not a good experience at all.
- Mizan (1/5): Just horrible! - Absolutely nothing. Nothing, it's a nasty place.
- Stella (2/5): - No one in office. They get paged in front and back doors left open 24 hours. Dangerous area nothing good I can say about it.
- Ryan (2/5): - No towels. Remote for TV doesn’t work. No cups available in room. I guess I can drink with my hands out if the sink. Etc. A little bit of a JOKE. One and DONE
- Russell (2/5): - Staff. Very unhelpful.
- Steven (1/5): Disappointing - Noisy location on a main, urban street. There was a food truck outside playing insanely loud music into the early morning hours - municipal permits make sense! Filthy building. Pretty disgusting. See above
- Brian (1/5): Slept in cloths on top of blanket. Left as soon as possible. - Nothing! It was the dirtiest room I've ever stayed in.
- Robert (2/5): Look elsewhere!!!! - This is a roof over your head, that's all! Room was disgusting, definitely wasn't cleaned in a while! Door had been kicked in and hadn't been repaired, we jammed the chair under the door knob for security overnight. AC and fridge were moldy. Tissues stuffed in the smoke alarm. This place needs a health inspection asap!!
- Andrew (2/5): Bad neighborhood - I did not stay at the Red Carpet Inn. When I pulled into the parking lot their were at least 10-15 people with trash bags and backpacks hanging around. There were 2 more by the back entrance. I was not going to walk through the parking lot with $20,000.00 worth of video gear. I was in Jersey to photography the motorcycle races. I found a different hotel where I felt safe. I ate the 3 day reservation.
- Mark (1/5): The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. -
- Sherry (2/5): - The bed was the only thing that was clean in the room. The room obviously had not been cleaned correctly. Well I walked in, and it smelled like a mixture of beer and a cleaning product. I dropped off my stuff and went on an errand when I came back, I noticed behind the door there was a beer bottle on the bottom of nightstand there were liquor bottles, I hadn’t noticed before because the bed was blocking the bottom of it. I have pictures of all this. The floors were very dirty toilet was dirty, the floor around the toilet was disgusting look like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. Online it says there is breakfast, there is no breakfast! The Ice machine was not working.. The soda machine was not working. If I had had money to go stay somewhere else I would have because I don’t think I would get my money back. This whole place needs to be redone. Rain has damaged the ceilings and will eventually come through. If it hasn’t in some rooms already. I stayed here last time with a friend because she got the room and it was worse the last time. Last time the room was so disgusting and dirty we had to complain enough to where they gave us another room that they cleaned while we waited in the hall. It was really bad and I would not have returned but this time I got it because nothing else nearby available in my budget believe me I looked but I will not be staying here again. I’m going to save, save for a better room next time. This room was disgusting. Worst experience ever
- jerry (4/5): - Oils be a good hotel but they should pay more attention to the cleaning lines
- Kevin (6/5): - Beds were very uncomfortable, it felt like i was sleeping on the ground. Nightstands and tables in the room were dusty/something on them. Bathroom shower was not cleaned very well. There was also a sign that said not to put toliet paper in the toilet.
- Miriam (10/5): Very close to the visiting church, keep up this awesome service. - Facility Manager was absolutely 💯 percent awesome. Needed an iron and she immediately executed our needs. I will definitely stay there again.
- chrislarry (8/5): Great room - Don't judge a book by its cover. My room was huge and very clean. Crisp sheets and ice cold air conditioner. The lobby smelled very musky and a bit run down but my room was 5 star. Door has extra safety lock
- Amanda (1/5): Bad - Nothing The TV was shattered. It looked like someone either punched it or threw a ball at the screen. It was filthy and in a bad neighborhood. There were people all over the place that would hang out and drink and leave their trash and it smelled disgusting. The person that ran it left a brick in the back door so anyone could come in or out. Our room door sometimes wouldn't shut and lock all the way. The carpet looked like it had not been cleaned, I know the floor in our room wasn't swept or mopped because the bottom of my black socks were filthy and I could see where something sticky had been there and wasn't mopped up. The whole hotel has a funny smell. It looked like a crack hotel. I would not recommend it at all!!!!
- Teresa (10/5): - Love it now
New tile clean
- Josh (2/5): RUN AWAY. DO NOT STAY HERE - This is the most disgusting hotel I've ever stayed at in my life. I've travelled the country many times over so that's saying something. I can deal with chipped paint etc, but the entire carpet from the elevator to all the rooms is filthy (see photo). They literally do not clean this place. The moment I got in my room and removed the comforter I found an ant in my bed. My bathroom was covered in long hair. I had to shower with flip flops on. See the photos. The hair dryer was covered in drywall dust. The lamps were filthy and one had two rusty screws on it. There were also chunks of debris on the floor by the headboard. Look at the light switch in the photo. I've never seen anything so gross. Not only do they not clean the hotel, they don't even wipe it down. This is basic stuff. The area isn't much better either. When I went to the car in the morning there were two drunk men on a bench. While I packed up one of them slowly started stumbling to my car to ask me for god knows what. I barely made it out of there before he could get to my passenger window. Stay away! The owner should be embarrassed.
- Sabina E (2/5): Run don’t walk away from booking this hotel - We checked into the hotel for one evening on Friday June 23. The smell in the hallway and conditions of the hallway carpets should have tipped us off to what to expect in our room. Where to even begin: crumbs and the floor of our room was filthy. There was debris and crumbs and an empty water bottle and God only knows what else all over the floor. While our beds were made, when we pulled back the sheets, there were stains on both bedsheets, but more than that there were crumpled tissues in one of the made beds. In the mini refrigerator in the room, we found leftover empanadas and garlic knots, from God knows when the bathroom was beyond. There was dirt on the toilet that we had to wipe off. There was no toilet paper in the room, we had to go down to the desk to receive toilet paper. The smoke detector/fire alarm had what looked like foam coating it, coming out of the slats. There was a fly strip hanging down. The cracks in the wall and slight shabbiness of the hotel could be overlooked, but the fact that it looked like someone haphazardly made the beds and deemed the room clean is unacceptable. How this hotel is still operating is beyond me. It really sounds like a health hazard.
- Walt (6/5): Nice place at a great value - Location to down town. Vending machine did not work
No fridge in room.
- Aurea (1/5): Bad - The room smelled awful it was dirty they have bombs hanging out in the lobbad experience I didn't like anything It was disappointing
- Pedro (2/5): - This is by far the worst area, there is no sense of safety, no sense of comfort and no way I would stay at hood-rat hotel.
- Temitayo (2/5): - This is beneath a standard that should be on Expedia.
Not in any way, manner or form an hotel. This is a BROTHEL
- Emmanuel (5/5): Just a bit more cleanliness. - Location and accessibility. Room was not cleaned good. Found a condom under nightstand. My daughter could have easily grabbed or touched it. Thank God i saw it before my baby.
- Sarah (2/5): - The sheets had yellow/brown stains all over as if they were not washed. There was yellow/green crusted stuff all over the side of the sheets . It smells like weed/smoke right when you walked in.
- June (4/5): Disappointing - Close to Eagle Manor for a family wedding. There have been upgrades to the rooms but they need better cleaning - nice tile in the bathroom but dirty. Sheets were clean and bedding ok . If the floors and bathroom were scrubbed it would be very nice.
- Brian (7/5): Ok - Good Nothing
- Elga (3/5): Poor -
- Aleisha (4/5): Disappointing - The room was comfortable and the staff was nice and helpful. There was an awful smell in the lobby and hallways but it wasn't in the room. And the elevator ride was a little rough.
- Joao De (2/5): - Once I got there I saw a lot of homeless on the sidewalk proceeded to drive into the parking lot which was in the back of the building it was very dark not enough lighting that you would feel comfortable. There was a bunch of people drinking and smoking in the parking lot. I didn’t feel comfortable or safe getting out of the car which was just me and my daughter so I just turn my car around and went to find another hotel. I do not recommend this hotel specially if you’re traveling with your family which that was my case I was travel with my 10-year-old daughter. Expedia shouldn’t have hotels like this advertise on their website terrible experience.
- Isabel (2/5): - Bed bugs, unprofessional staff, dirty rooms, and dried blood on sheets.
- Susan (2/5): - Infested with cockroaches, sign on toilet that absolutely no toilet paper was to be flushed or put in toilet and fire alarms going off randomly, blaring throughout the night.
- Robert (8/5): - The people at the "check in" desk were friendly and helpful. The room was clean.
- David (2/5): - Did Not stay at that dump the hotel should be closed
- Roger (2/5): Don't stay at Red Carpet, this is our second BAD. - The entrance was hard to find.
The staff were not friendly, they could not use their credit card machine.
The lobby was old and smelled BAD.
We left!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Came from NY and needed an affordable place before reaching the shore on a Saturday night.
Hotel had a fast check-in, 5 minutes. (I had also prepaid on Orbitz so that may have helped.) Parking was both behind the building and in front across the street. I could even see the car.
Room had the basics, clean, quiet, comfy bed and pillows, shampoo toiletries, dryer.
The king size bed was fantastic, with great space on the left, right, and in front of the TV console.
Could fit probably close to 2 twin air beds if you have more travelers. Seriously, it had breathing room not like some other hotels rooms where you are 6 inches from the wall. Very roomy.
The room was quiet, no noise from other rooms, no noisy kids, sometimes I heard a revving motorcycle on occasion but did not lose a blink of sleep. I was on the 3rd floor.
Yes, it's looks more like a building office from the outside but you are on a business corner, and it was not crazy busy. You can walk to Walgreens or KFC, or the barber, or go to a nearby restaurants.
( you can drive to The Golden Pigeon Diner which was amazing and great price) The location felt more like a diverse community neighborhood with character than a sterile shopping strip. High maintenance xenophobes should stay away.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bad smell in parking from trash
- Rudolph (8/5): - The facility was close and convenient to the venue. The only issue I had was that the tv didn’t work so I had to find other things to occupy our time.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Situated in a very sketchy part of town with very questionable happenings in the area which you are required to park; along the river/town park! Felt VERY uneasy leaving vehicle out of sight. Old building, new floors (unswept and very slippery) bathrooms needed serious updating. Very few electrical outlets for phone and laptop charges available
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There was no way to turn on the shower. The front desk told us that they had been told that before and it just needed to be pulled really hard! All that was in the room was two small towels for a family of four, and the bed covering were super thin.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - There was a bed bug on my bed, I went downstairs to tell them and they didn’t even apologize, all they said was that they were gonna talk to the manager. I immediately went upstairs to get my things and left.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Close
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice room. Lobby rundown. Not the greatest neighborhood. Nice staff, polite and accommodating. Room newly done. Bathroom and sheets were dirty though.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The price charged was more than the price listed and I had no choice but to accept, given the hour I arrived
- K5733BOdanielb (2/5): Ridiculous staff - m so dissatisfied with the way staff members treated me,the room smells, the bathroom is disgusting, poor customer service, rude staff, unprofessional, inappropriate comments, staff are dress like they just roll out of bed with no shoes on,face dirty with a nasty shirt on ,he was wearing his breakfast, lunch & dinner wouldn’t recommend & never would come back
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff went out of their way to make our stay comfortable
- Richard (4/5): A few small things would make big dufference - Checked in at 6 pm and had to wait 20 minutes for room to be ready. Bathroom floor was filthy, coffee maker with condiments but no coffee pods, and lots of road noise from traffic.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Yuk
- Unsatisfied (2/5): - Very unclean! Saw a roach. Had a bad odor in the bathroom.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Stunk, was musty, old and outdated. The location was good but the hotel in itself I wouldn’t recommend
- Guest (4/5): - Candy wrappers on the floor, no hot water on the tap - only in the shower, coffee machine but no coffee or tea provided
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The key didn't work so the staff used their key to open and I waited for hours but never got a key. Musty smelling, bad neighborhood, rude staff, wanted cash. Was scared and checked out within 7 hours
- Trish (6/5): - The area was not the best. Many shootings talked about in the area.
- Joseph (4/5): Not great - Hotel is not in the greatest area...it also shares a parking lot with a liquor store. We were in the area for a soccer tournament and only needed the room for one night. That's about all I would've been willing to stay there for. There is a very musty smell in the elevator and we also found a couple of bugs in our room. It served the purpose for the night but would not be anxious to return.
- THOMAS (8/5): - The hotel was very quiet and clean and room very comfortable
