Dorothyjean (10/5): Charming hotel - I loved the look of the hotel, it was very artsy. The rooms and hallways were hand painted & signed by the artist. Theres a working fish export business downstairs & a seafood restaurant upstairs. It's got a lot going on but it still feels quiet. The fish boats something operate during the night, so it can get a little noisy and smelly but that's living & working in a fishing village. The bed was firm but comfy and I had a great view of the lake and could watch the fishermen work from my balcony. The one lady on staff during my stay was fabulous; kind, friendly and super helpful. There's not a lot of english spoken in the area, even compared to Taiping.

Libby (10/5): - Room with sunset view , great exploration surrounding and restaurant just downstairs. Just that need to walk three floors up and not suitable to bring young children cause quite dangerous to walk up three floors.

But the plus points more than outway the sound problem. Decor 4* Linen 4* Cleanliness 4* Location is superb. 5* Everything u wanna do at Kuala Sepetang is nearby.

KP (10/5): - The hotel is most artsy meaning it's decorated like a boutique hotel, very creative & pleasant. It's right by the riverside & the view is a sight to behold. Departure jetty points are closeby. Restaurants are plenty with one Chinese food restaurant right in the hotel itself. There are many things to like about this hotel. Perhaps a night staff on duty might help. Parking spaces for cars are limited.

Verified traveler (10/5): - Many people think the fish smell is off-putting but the fish is fresh fish smell to me, not like those supermarket fishy smell and not stale fish smell so I’m alright with it. Water provided is their own boiled water, so if you prefer, buy your own bottled water. Breakfast is simple sandwich but it’s good enough for us.

HanJin (6/5): Friendly staff - We arrived late (730pm) & staff were no longer there (check in till 7pm). But they return back again at 845pm to assist us for the late check in. Room (sea view) is clean & tidy. Poor isolation for noise & smell. You wont have a good night sleep as due to boating noise from the sea. Smell of smog from nearby charcoal factory leaks into the room.

YeongHean (6/5): - Hi, I was visiting Sepetang for the 1st time with my family earlier (14&15th of July), and stayed at your hotel for a night. While we were really mesmerized by the design of you hotel, we were disappointed by some of the events that happened during our stay. 1) Water disruption on 15th of July which lasted till we checked out causing inconveniences (can't take bath, can't flush the toilet etc) 2) Our package was suppose to come with breakfast but there were none. 3) The access card quality is bad (very thin), when we accidentally break it, we were asked to pay RM50. The replacement card given were the thicker one. 4) Room WIFI is not working, there were signal but we were unable to access (error : access unauthorized). These were some setbacks to an otherwise nice, relaxing holiday.
Kat (8/5): Exactly in the middle of the village - Rooms were clean and proper. Design was unique as well. Would be even more satisfied if noise filtering was better. I can literally hear the a lot of noises. The hotel has no elevator therefore, if it is inconvenient for you to climb the stairs, then this is not the place to go to. The steps up to the hotel rooms were uneven as well (small & big steps when alighting through 1st floor) therefore causing inconvenience to old people to climb those stairs

Willie (8/5): Unique Hotel Stay - Apart from a good stay,the hotel is unique with the wooden structured building n painting of nature found around Sepetang.Situated by the river gave a relaxing feel n refreshing.Room is well equiped even with fan besides air condition. Well decorated set up.Staff are friendly n helpful.Quiet surrounding with kopitiam,tour agency n restuarants just there.A short 500m walk to centre where locals do marketing n have their meals.Will go back again to Kuala Sepetang n Happy 8 Retreat Hotel.Thanks for the enjoying experience !

Juliana (8/5): Pleasant stay - Went with my children, the girls enjoyed the room, loves the art in the hotel and rooms the view from the room was amazing as we stayed at the 3rd floor with seaview, its a family room and the hotel is nearby famous seafood restaurant, one is linked to the hotel another is 1 min walk away, so convenient, it was raining the day we arrive, all we need to do is to walk up for dinner. In summary, we had a relaxing vacation.

Verified traveler (8/5): A well located unique boutique hotel. - Excellent location overlooking the jetty. Nice view of the river. But acoustic insulation is not good due to the use of wooden plank floor and probably the partition. Rooms are all on either 2nd or 3rd floor, with good but relatively steep stairs. Not recommended for those using wheel chairs or have difficulty climbing stairs.
msharith (8/5): Perfect getaway from the normal hotel in the city - Love the idle of doing nothing but enjoying the scenic view, watching the fishermen labor day’s catch and walking by the streets in the ‘cowboy’ town nearby.

Loo (8/5): Amazing places to stay - The places is amazing. Working day is noisy because of the fishing boat. I'm staying the family suit, my kids are enjoy with the upper deck bed very much. The hotel staircase is not suitable for the children below 3 and also old people. Recommend take breakfast at outside.

SH Pang (4/5): The hotel just beside the jetty at the river bank. - 2 storey wooden small hotel on top of the sea food restaurant, plywood partition between room n bath room, corridor and room designed in dark blue and lighting are too dim, the wooden staircase are too incline，very poor wifi no connection at all. Short stay for a overnight will be ok but the room rate are overvalue with this standard of room.

LT (4/5): Not worth for your money - The exterior and interior design of the guest house are very interesting, it is good snap a photos of few. When we first arrived there, the guest house were hardly located. The reason is because it built on the restaurant without a proper entrance. Even worst when you reach the door step, you might still guessing if I am in the correct place or not, their front desk not even standing up to open the security door for you. When we talk about sleep quality, facility and cleanliness, it really let me down. Bed is not clean enough with a smelly pillow. Noise from the surrounding environment especially the artificial birdsong is playing 24/7 at the bird nest farm are so unacceptable to me. Breakfast is not a buffet and it was cold when it serves.Foot of mine not feeling well when stepping on the dust floor. Overall, not a well designed guest house.
chrisdai (6/5): Fishing Village Holiday Vacation - It's interesting and new idea staying in fishing village, I can enjoy the fisherman's life. The room soundproof is poor, the breakfast is poor, overall I think is still new. Location of the hotel is good, right beside the jetty that can organize fireflies tour. Foodwise around the town is good and cheap. Nearby you can visit charcoal factory, Ngah Ibrahim Mansion, mangrove forest reserve and enjoy local seafood. Good for 2n1d getaway for cityfolks. Try to book room with view, although the price is consider high for this. Personally I think is overprice. There are rooms without view, so please check which room you are getting to avoid dissapointment.
Hans (4/5): Charcoal Room - Paid RM540 for a tiny room without usable window. Room partitioned with timber panels without any sound insulation. Noise from room can be heard everywhere. There was a 2.5 hours power failure from 12am to 2:30am in the whole Sepetang village, which disrupted my sleep.The only plus side was the breakfast that came with the package deal.
