Guest Reviews
- robert (2/5): - Rundown dirty and porrly operated
- Benjamin (8/5): - It is a simple but decent room.
- Linda (2/5): - The bed was awful. The room had a sagging, stained ceiling. There were roaches in the room. The door did not lock from the outside. When I left the room my belongings were vulnerable to theft and the room was open to anyone who wanted to enter and/or hide in there until I got back. There was no hot water. The desk clerk was personable and no, I did not tell him anything because I knew he had limited power and that I would be leaving this bad review here and online.
- James (2/5): - Mouse droppings on top end table and below bathroom sink, dirty clothes/shoes with beer can beside front door, insects in bathtub, tv did not work overall worst experience ever in anybmoyel
- Jennifer (2/5): Terrible reviews - Reviews were awful and we wanted to cancel and couldn’t. No refund policy
- Myra (2/5): - Extremely dirty, roaches, cinder blocks holding up the bed, no one answering buzzer at desk to check out a day early
- Verified traveler (4/5): Sucks - It wasn't good at all. The place was dirty, we stayed 4 days and they never once emptied our trash or brought us towels and toilet paper.
- Verified traveler (4/5): RUN FAR AWAY. CHOOSE ANOTHER HOTEL - This was one of the worst places I’ve stayed. The blankets were covered in cigarette holes. Sheets full of holes and dirty. Mattresses are at least 25 yo. There was no toilet paper or towels and washcloths. Went to office to get those things. 3 of us and only gave us 2 towels and zero washcloths. Tub was yucky too. We decided not to shower. The towels!!! Omg. They were FILTHY. Please see my pics so you will know I’m not exaggerating. The staff were wildly incompetent. That place needs bulldozed down.
- Jennifer (4/5): - We stayed here about 8-10 years ago and it was nice. NOW!!!
- Destinie (2/5): - Horrible
- Chasity (2/5): - It wasnt the best and it costed 100 dollars for us to stay there and i had a resevation bht every room they put us in was taken then they had to run my card 4 times before it would go threw it just sucked lso the dont have was cloths
- David (4/5): - Bedbugs in rooms
- Heather (4/5): - Took forever to get checked in. Had to dry off with floor towels after requesting full sized bath towel and washcloths.
- Tabitha (2/5): - The reality of this place is far from what the pictures suggest. When I arrived, the room was in unacceptable condition – the sheets hadn’t been changed, and the bed was covered with human and body hair, including the pillows. The floors hadn’t been swept or mopped, the air conditioning filters hadn’t been cleaned in ages, and the blinds on the windows were falling apart. To make matters worse, there was a 2’ x 3’ section of mold on the wall right next to where I was expected to sleep. In fact, I felt it was healthier to sleep on the floor – which I ended up doing.
There was only one towel and one washcloth provided, but I chose not to use them because I didn’t feel comfortable taking a shower there. Honestly, with a modest investment – around $150 per unit – and proper budgeting, this place could be significantly improved.
What shocked me further was that at 9:50 a.m., someone knocked on my door to ask if I planned to extend my stay or check out. Considering that checkout time was 11:00 a.m., and after a sleepless night on the floor, this intrusion felt unnecessary and irritating. To top it all off, the man working at the front desk was dressed in his underwear, which was highly unprofessional and wholly unacceptable.
- Vincent (6/5): - Didn't get the room i reserved. Only had 3 tv channels. Placd had mold.female knocking on neighbors door and yelling at 4:30 in the morning. Only one light in the room. Made it kinda dark.
- Sharon (2/5): - Blood on sheets, hair and dirt under the bedspread, drug addicts hanging out the door of the rooms, someone opened my door with their key, no toilet paper, dirty bathroom, just gross, I had 2 rooms and we didn't stay in either room, we ended up leaving at 6:30 pm we didn't get a refund nothing! It's unsafe, dirty and the most disgusting hotel I've ever seen.
- Wesley (4/5): Not recommended - Got checked in by a guy in underwear, couldnt sleep past 6a because of a woman yelling, second time in the same room and not a simgle thing was cleaned from my stay 3 days prior. Same dirtiness and i didnt even feel like taking a shower would make me feel any clean there. The tv had no channels
- Wesley (4/5): Not recommended - Sheets were smelly. There was dirt just nasty stuff in the drawers. N on the floor by the bed wheels.
- Hanoch (10/5): Good stay - Good experience. Very staff was friendly
- Amber (10/5): - Great place stay there alot when i go to vist
- Sarah (8/5): - Lock was broken on our first room so after returning to the office 3 times we got a different room. Helpful and friendly and quick at resolving the problem
- Tracy (4/5): - Toilet was clogged and full of chunks in the first room.
Moved us to a second room with no hot water.
- JO (6/5): - The tv only had 3 channels, the door had air coming under it because of a big gap, the peephole had paper taped over it, and there were no coffeepots after the front desk left. .
- Marshs (2/5): - Place had cobwebs hanging from bookshelf that was 10 inches long and as big as your thumb. They came and used a broom to take down. Tv cache not working. I was only there in that room for 10 minutes and then I left
- Chasity (2/5): - My stay was terrible there were needles in the parking lot and nothing worked in the room i had to change rooms 3 times hoping it would help but no they just got worse ill never stay there again
- Shandra (2/5): Chilligan's island - Upon entering the room it smelled stale like old smoke. The bed foundation was dirty and i suspected bed bugs. I was correct because my son was bitten. The door lock mechanism wasn't the best. It took 10 or more minutes for hot water ti heat up, the bthroom sink was loose, the ac/heat unit was a hazard and the TV only had 3 channels.
- John (2/5): - Look before I write this review let me say something clearly, I didn’t expect much from this motel but even my lowered expectations could not have prepared us for just how dirty and poorly ran the motel is now, for starters right out of the gate the staff is incredibly inexperienced and didn’t know how to charge a pet fee of $10 which I paid for in cash with a $20 and they couldn’t muster up $10 in change in cash so I agreed to have them give it back when I checked out the next day, we then make it to the room and put our stuff away so I can go see my grandchildren and family, I don’t pay very much attention to the room at this point but boy when we make it back to the room and I’m no longer in a hurry I start to notice stuff left and right, the interior door is filthy, the mini fridge is filthy, we turn on the heat and it smells like dead roaches ( I used to remodel old apartments I know the smell ), the tv has 3 channels, there are no washcloths and one towel in the room for two adults, we lay down on the bed it caves in, I lift the mattress to fix the bed frame and then we see stains that can only be described as blood and urine, underneath the bed frame was something resembling dog food chunks or old threw up beans, there’s cobwebs in every corner, the dresser is old and falling apart, the desk has no chair, the toilet seat is loose and about to fall off, the phone doesn’t work at all ( I have apparently reached my typing limit so the rest will be told to Expedia directly
- Mary (10/5): - Gentleman at check in was very friendly and helpful.
- Nichole (2/5): - This property was the absolute worst that we have ever experienced! It took almost an hour to pay and get checked in, then upon entering our room we came across the room having bug (roaches) problem!! The beds were crap and the bathroom had no toilet paper and only 2 towels! The TV has only a few channels and u have no where to sit to enjoy a meal! The people that worked at the property were absolutely creepy walking around stairing and letting people whom they didn’t even know if they were our friends in our room! We will never ever come back to this property or recommend it to a dog to stay in!
- Kayla (2/5): Do NOT recommend! - As soon as we check in, the worker walks us to our room and lets us in and keeps one of the cards to our room and puts in his pocket. That was the first issue. Then we walk in, the ceiling tiles are missing, insulation hanging out, tv falling off the wall, eveything was very visibly dirty. The walls, the floors, the beds had stains all over the sheets. The bathroom was disgusting. I honestly don’t see how this place is open, it was a complete waste of time and money.
- michelle (6/5): - It was under new management and they seemed to be upgrading some of the rooms however, their were baby roaches in the room and the desk clerk was also telling us that they previously had a bed bug issue. We took apart everything to make sure but it’s not a good look for the business. It a cheap stay for the couple of hours of sleep we needed before we jumped back on the road.
- Bradley (2/5): - This property is overpriced for what you get. In my room the ceiling tiles were hanging out of the track, the water pressure was a little better than a dribble, it took forever for hot water in the sink. We had 2) guests and we received 2) towels, 2) wash clothes, 1) small round bar of facial soap, no shampoo or conditioner. The laundry services are broke, the breakfast area is non existent. The maintenance guy and another guy that fills in on the front desk were nice but anytime we needed something, they always referred back to the owner which was hard to catch because he was either taking a nap in the back or you would have to come back at a certain time. The rooms were decent size and parking is convenient and the staff was accommodating with us while parking a truck a trailer. We were on a hunting trip and didn’t need fancy but they have a sign on the counter that states no refunds after 30 mins and I think that tells you what you’re getting.
- Justin (2/5): - Check in was very awkward. One guy could barely speak English and other guy was very creepy. Room key did not work and they just opened the door for us after standing there for 10min. Never even offered another key. Got into the room and found one light bulb working in the whole place. Absolutely zero hot water due to the shower faucet being broke. TV did not work no channels at all. Fridge was disgusting. There were cobwebs everywhere And the beds were nasty. Overall I would not recommend this place to ANYONE
- Robert (6/5): - Definitely need to replace all your linens and towels. They were all stained and had cigarette burns. Other then that it wasn't bad for the price
- Willie (2/5): - No hot water no tv service and had mold on my pillow case along with my feet black after walking across the floor
- Patricia (2/5): - The room was filthy, no staff at
- Nena (2/5): - Staff was extremely kind and helpful, the motel rooms are just quite dirty. Towels were dirty/stained, floor was dirty, bathroom was dirty. My shower handle was t attached and I had to hold it on to turn the shower on. Water pressure was very low and it took forever for water to heat. The room was very inexpensive, so my hopes weren’t high, but the rooms need a good deep clean and a little love.
- Evan (2/5): - I have left 2 negative reviews in over 300. Don’t stay here! Roaches, TV not working, no hot water. Homeless vagrants on the property. I would not put a stray dog in a room there. It should be removed from hotels.com
- Annette (8/5): - Last minute reservation.. didn’t have any trouble at all.
- Brinda (8/5): - For the price of the room it was a good place to stay.
- Emma (4/5): - shower wasn't cleaned and found live roach. no one present in office for checkout
- BUCKLEY (8/5): - Easy to get to , easy to deal with, staff was freindly
- Zachariah (4/5): - We walked into no hot water, a broken microwave (went through several more broken ones to find a working one), and a poorly built room that was called the VIP upgrade room. Doorknob hanging off the bathroom door, won't close. One towel for two customers. At least the mini fridge works, as warm as you adjust it everything inside freezes. We had to argue with condescending and dishonest staff to get them to stop being cheap and turn the damn water heater on, only to tell us "you were doing it wrong, just wait 2 minutes for it to warm up" after we had waited 30m 3 days in a row in EACH of the 'hot' positions of the wrongly installed temp monitor and ultimately taken cold showers. The cherry on top: "The water is warm now so you better give us those good reviews, man! Give us a five star review and we'll give you another night for free." Indian lying slackers only care about money by the cheapest means. This inn will never deliver quality. Enjoy your drug dealer and prostitute neighbors slamming the walls and moaning at 3 AM. THE FREE NIGHT ROOM THEY WERE OFFERING HAD BLOOD ON THE WALLS AND ROACHES EVERYWHERE, nightmare motel staffed by lazy JEETS
- justinbO6387SX (10/5): Great hotel staff clean rooms excellent hotel location Wendy's, Pizza Hut,Papa Johns other restaurants Walmart are close - The Room was very clean, the staff is very friendly and courteous and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. The location is very good just seconds from restaurants, grocery store, and Walmart. The staff would do anything they can to make sure to help with anything we needed.
- Helen (4/5): - We had to move to another room where ac actually worked. Knobs came off shower, toilet paper dispenser was broken, floor dirty… not mopped, no floor mats, insufficient towels and some stained.
Mattresses and bed very comfortable, clean…..glad for little frigerator and microwave, Wi-Fi and USB charge sites. Design of old motel was reminiscent and we could sit outside the room doors and chat with others doing likewise. mist on the mountains lovely.
Poor Harlan has on,y one other accommodation .. Quality Inn which was full. Chatty checkin clerk happy to share info and recommendations about area.
- Tammara (8/5): - Yes, this place has some small issues. However, the staff is working hard to change things there. I spoke with them about a couple issues THAT I felt needed addressed, and they quickly did their best to help make this right. SOOO if you stay here and have an issue... Please Let the staff know. They can't help you if you don't tell them.
- Aristeo (2/5): A nightmare - The room had bedbugs, is a shame me and my girlfriend left and when to another hotel.
We showed the manager the infestation of bed bugs and was promised a refund.
Today is 4 days later and I still don’t have the money. This place is one of the worst places I’ve ever been. Owner should be told of this horrible and nasty rooms.
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Good place to stop with limited option presented in the area. Check-in staff went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied with our room.
- Tiffany (2/5): Don’t stay. - Dirty sheets, door had been broken into, bathroom door wouldn’t shut, pee on wall, didn’t even stay our whole reservation because of how sketchy this place was. Just a bad feeling in there.
- Dirk (4/5): - We didn’t have housekeeping for the entirety of our three day stay. There was no hot water at all. There were cobwebs on the ceiling. The headboard was on one wall and the bed was on the other. The sheets were dirty. We never got new washcloths or towels daily. They never put breakfast out. The toilet paper hanger was broken off the wall.
However, we did appreciate the upgrade to the front building because the desk clerk said that the back building doesn’t get used much and tends to stay very musty smelling.
- Gary (2/5): - This facility is in need of repair. It is dirty. The bath towel had a hole in it. The hand towel had dark stains. There was no remote for the TV. It was the worst place I have stayed at in my life. I will never stay at a Rodeway again
- Laura (8/5): Family Stay - Pleasant stay. Staff were very helpful. Room was fine,
- Roger (4/5): - The add said newly remodel but the door to the bathroom was bent and the door knob was every loose the a/c could be better the tv had very little channels and the hot water was not there don't like taken cold showers not sure if I will stay there again
- Richard (4/5): - There was NO hot water NONE. ZERO. Not even warm after I let it run for 15 minutes. No coffee, no breakfast or snacks of any kind. No glasses or cups in the room. TV was very limited. The person at check in was nice and helpful, but at checkout the first person I tried to get a receipt from didn’t speak English, and the next one spoke very limited. The property is just generally run down
- Greg (4/5): - I booked through expedia a month in advance. He said my payment declined then why was the room still booked. It was 1am, He made me pay again. The mattress was a older spring one. We were tired and didnt care at that point.
- Chloe (8/5): - Desk guy was nice/ helpful. The area was quiet, convenient
- John (2/5): - We made reservations at this hotel and upon check-in, we asked for a refund and didn’t stay because of the nastiness and the motel being rundown, the rooms smelled like cigarette smoke the beds had pee stains all over the mattress, it was the worst experience of our lives
- Farmer (4/5): NEVER STAY HERE - This place was nasty smelled of smoke sheets had burn holes and bathroom was awful
- CYNTHIA (6/5): - It’s one of two places in town to stay. I saw that the other option in town had issues with bedbugs. I did not see those problems in any reviews with Rodeway Inn and after checking the beds we did not see any bugs or any signs of them. The employees were kind and prompt in getting me checked in and seemed like really good people. They could definitely use an investment in the improvement of the beds and the overall cleanliness of the property and grounds. The rooms needed swept, the sheets had burn holes in them, and the walls had random splatters in the bathroom. The toilet paper was wrapped, but it felt like it had gotten wet and then dried, and was basically a half ply. The property was cheaper than the Quality Inn and was easy to get in and out of. Overall we were generally satisfied with our stay, but there definitely was room for improvement.
- Leonard (4/5): Rodeway they cant even spell. Nuf said. - No hot water day 1. No concern from staff about it. No one in office at 7 am. (Says they are there at 5am.)
Find a. Better place.
- Jennifer (2/5): - This has to be the most disgusting place ever. My mattress has blood and body fluid stains and not to mention holes in the mattress. I requested my trash to be removed and floors swept, I was told where the dumpster was and a broom to sweep my own floors. I had to purchase my own bedding to cover up the nasty sheets already on the bed. I had to purchase my own wash cloths and towels. I couldn't tell if the ones in the room was clean or not, due to all the stains. I even bought my own toilet paper. When asking to move to another room I was told it was going to cost me over 100 dollars. I had to do something, due to already paying for a week stay. Couldn't get my money back to find another place to stay.
- Donald (4/5): - First room we were giving smelled like smoke and had a cigarette butt in the sink and only 1 bath towel and 1 wash cloth we were moved to another room which was better but both rooms had no cups for brushing your teeth the curtains in both rooms were really bad and cob web's around the ceilings. The American Flag on there flag pole was in sherads very disturbing
- Tammy (8/5): - The staff were so kind and helpful. They ensured I got a quiet, restful couple of nights in a beautiful area. I would go again!
- 477genevar (2/5): Lesson learned - The rooms keys would never work always had to go to the front desk to get another key. Walked into the room was not happy w all the rat poop on everything was in the floor next to the microwave dresser n night stand. I had to go out n buy a bed sheet n blanket ours looked nasty. Also had to get clean towels n wash cloths ours was dirty. So I went out n bought our own. I just wish it was better taken care of on the inside. The outside was beautiful. But I will have to say I will not be staying at this motel again. Was going to talk to someone this morning about the issue w rats but no one would answer the door. The front service desk at night time he was awesome loved his jobs an everything.
- Ashley (10/5): - Very friendly staff, quiet area, peaceful stay
- David (2/5): Not so good - Terrible. No electrical outlets worked, room was very cold and took hours tonwarm up. Toilets not flushed and had been used
- Clay (4/5): - Bathroom sink was nasty. The bed was hard and almost sitting on the ground. Found mice crap under the bathroom sink and roaches on the wall
- Cindy Lou Who's (10/5): - The one guy was very friendly and nice! The other seemed like we owed him something not sure what his issue was but overall was great. The beds was big and very comfortable, the shower could have been a little cleaner and the stopper didn't work for taking baths and the shower head wasn't siliconed to the wall. Given the age of the hotel it was alright. Rooms was very spacious and included refrigerator, microwave and buffet for storage. Could have used more space to hang clothing other than two drawers. Will visit again as overall it was enjoyable, warm and cozy and the view was amazing!!!
- Amanda (6/5): - Upon entering the office to check in I am noticed by one of the housekeepers but not greeted. She threw some laundry into some household washer and dryers set behind the office and after that stated, as a question, “he’s not come out yet?”. She knocks on what I assume to be the owners room and he eventually comes out straight out of bed it appeared (3 o’clock in the afternoon). He was far from friendly or hospitable, made me feel very uncomfortable and I would have left right then and there had I not already been awake over 24 hours. I’m eventually given my room card and drive around back to where it was. The property was definitely one that screams “people live here” to me with inside furniture on the porches and a woman sitting in a chair asleep. The room was tiny, no closet, no place to hang my shirt up. There weren’t any shades and I used a tack I somehow had in my purse to tack the curtain closed on one side and slide the 1980s desk in front of the other, to keep them flush to the wall otherwise you could look right in. The hot water I was convinced didn’t work but finally after 10 minutes it started running hot. The tv was static on every channel. The sheet had a cigarette burn hole in it. There were spiders many places and I had an ant craw up my leg as I sat at the desk. There was hair on the bathroom sink counter and one roll of extra toilet paper under the sink I would not stick my hand in to get because of all the webs and other unknowns in there. Wont stay again.
- Rhonda (10/5): - Staff was nice, it was quit
- Mike (4/5): - This an old style motel. The bathroom had newer fixtures. The medicine cabinet door was held closed with electrical tape. The rest of the furniture appeared to come from a garage sale. They allow smoking in some of the rooms so make sure you ask for non-smoking if it matters to you. The floor in my room was quite dirty. The upside is that it was very quiet so I slept good. If you are looking for a low budget place to sleep & don't mind roughing it a little this will work for you. If my wife had been with we would not have stayed there...
- Sandra (2/5): - Absolutely beautiful little inn. Until you figure out that they don't clean, don't give you clean towels and wash rags unless you go ask for them, they don't empty trash or clean the rooms and then we found out about the bed bugs after we were there for three nights. Never again will we stay there. So unhappy.
- Danita (4/5): - Stayed 3 nights. Trash was never taken out, no clean towels brought in. Mattresses are old and worn out. Booked a king room but given a queen although I did get reimbursed. Had to track someone down just to turn in key that they said I had to turn in or pay for.
- Mike (2/5): - When we arrived the staf was on the brekfast area with apillow and blanket asleep. The room was dirty, had bugs, and no fitted sheet on the bed. DO NOT SATY HERE IF YOU CAN AVOID IT!!!!!!
- Chris (10/5): - Nice Staff
- Linda (2/5): - We woke up and our clothes had ants on them and as we looked around there were ants everywhere...
- Allison (6/5): - The property was fine after we bought Lysol, air fresheners and candles. It wasn't our favorite but pet and budget friendly. Would stay again if no availability elsewhere.
- michael (4/5): - So this place used to be decent. New owners and new name now and its just a hole. No hot water, i let it run 45 min got nothing. Nasty floors peeling up. Its a no go for me from now on and i have been going there since the late 1970’s
- William N. (8/5): - This is an okay place to stay--typical for a lower-cost motel. PROS: low cost, clean, quiet, close to shopping, TV, microwave, refrigerator, outside door handle beeps to remind you if the door is not completely shut.
CONS: 1 ceiling light to illuminate the room--no lamps; just 1 small bar of soap furnished, had to use my teeth to open the small shampoo packet (2 furnished); had trouble figuring how to position tub hot-cold handle for hot water because it took so long to get hot, no coffee maker.
- Adrian (4/5): - Not exactly the best in terms of room condition. Most items were old, including the beds.
- Christine (10/5): - Very convenient clean, and staff was outgoing!
- douglassG5629AW (2/5): Very poor - The place is old,the bathtub didn’t fill no room service had to ask for clean towels, very bad lighting in room, no breakfast it’s just a terrible place, tiolet loose from floor ask to have fixed never was
- Jesse (2/5): - rr
- alan (8/5): - Very friendly staff.
Room was nice and clean
- Verified traveler (6/5): good bed only - floors dirty dust bunnies blood on mattress cover very bad remodel job
- Daniel (2/5): - The television didn't work, the toilet seat was broken and the room felt like a dungeon.
- TinaP3419 (6/5): not worth the money - overpriced - no cups, no hand towels, no wifi that worked, no shelf in bathroom, desk woman acted confused , no breakfast due to Covid even though all other motels offering breakfast- would not stay again
- Donnie (2/5): Buy a tent and sleep outside for better comfort - Room had a funny odor and the heat didnt work, which is wonderful when its 25 degrees outside. Told front desk person hoping for an apology and refund but instead got an offer for a different room.. this point i luckily had family in town and just slept there. Horrible hotel only go to if the only other choice is freezing to death or if you entered the witness protection program
- John (10/5): 1 night work trip - 1 night stay due to work in the area. Overall clean and comfortable. No blackout curtains made privacy a little lacking. basically a bed and bathroom. If your wanting amenities? Look elsewhere. If your looking for basic bed and a shower? Highly recommend.
- mark (2/5): - TERRIBLE
- Sabra (2/5): - The room wasn’t clean, there were pests, there were naked, exposed wires, no smoke detectors, fixtures falling off the wall.
- Derek (6/5): my thoughts - overall it was clean not the best place by no means but it was clean.
- LordZordec (2/5): New owners, NOT the same place! Stay away! - The motel is under new ownership, and is NOT the same clean, well-run establishment it was 5 years ago. It took three tries to find a room I could even work with, and even then I had to borrow supplies and clean it myself before it fit even a minimal standard of cleanliness for me to sleep in it. I also had to change the sheets because I didn’t know when they had been changed last, and they had a big yellow stain on them. If my wife were here, it would have been a hard “no way”. The first room reeked of cigarettes even though they are all supposedly “non-smoking”. The guy standing inside his doorway burning one dispelled that myth quickly. The second room had a hyper-rattly old AC, and even though it has actually been serviced by a maid today (I was there and saw it!) was filthy nonetheless.
I slept in my clothes…
I won’t come back. If the Quality Inn is booked up, I just won’t come. Period.
- ArjayGuy (8/5): Friendly and worked to make a couple welcome. - A stranded motorists driving through Harlan County broke down on her way to Georgia. I collaborated with the Harlan United Methodist Church Pastor to get a room for these two travelers. It was a bit complicated. I paid half over the phone, he paid half over the phone and it was late in the evening. I appreciated their willingness to work through the circumstances and our two travelers did get a room. They were pet friendly with a $10. Extra charge. The Airy is a nice clean property located one block off the highway by Rax’s, Wendy’s, Papa John’s and a local drive in too.
- h0lycha0 (10/5): Friendly staff, pleasant stay. - Due to other reviews I was leary about staying here. My family had to come for a funeral so no time to plan or save. It was the best choice! Everyone was so nice and the house keeper was really sweet. We had more family come that we needed an extra room for and they not only had no problems with that but also put them next door. The next blessing was being pet friendly (their fur babies were not expected). I've been to a lot of chain hotels/motels for kids sports and this one has the best water pressure I've ever seen. I didn't see any of the trash/paraphernalia that others mentioned and it wasn't loud at all. Yes, on the inside it's a little dated but it's Harlen. This isn't a travel destination. I was thrilled to not have to drive for 30 minutes or more to get from a bed to Harlen and it was easy on the pockets. It's also walkable to gas stations and fast food. My daughter is planning on visiting family again and will be booking here as will I on my next visit.
Thank you guys so much for making a sad experience so comfortable for us!
- Englishsetter321 (2/5): Scary - Front desk attendants very friendly. Treated you like friends. Room inside don't look. No soap in room. Carpets dirty. Paint coming off bathtub, sheets stained. Food from previous guest left in fridge. I always strip the beds before leaving a room to help housekeeping. 2 beds in room. Took off fitted sheet under it was a small pad under it was what looked like food, dirt. I was not sure. Just know it wasn't bugs. Showed front desk attendant. She apologized said she would let manager know. The outside was very appealing to the eye.
- jerryp700 (8/5): Jerry - I would like to say that the front desk person wasnt the best, but I was really impressed by the housekeeper's. The room was always very clea . I made it a point to ask the young lady her name.....Sharon. I stay in lots of motels for business, and even though this one may be a little less upscale, I was pleased with my stay. First and foremost thing is cleanliness, and this one was definitely that.
- EdmundGray (2/5): Crappy Place! Don't stay here! You'll be sorry! - Stayed on back row. Room falling apart. Holes in blanket. Wallpaper peeling, Windows permanently fogged. Fixtures coming out of wall. Sink rusted through. Opening to outside around AC unit. Don't believe talk of updates. Don't go by the photos on the site. Don't go by the exterior. Make them show you room first. A REALLY, REALLY CRAPPY PLACE. You'd rather stay in the Bates Motel. Glad to leave.
- 804paytond (4/5): Only OK - I stayed in probably the Basic Room. No tub and one bed, in the back row of the two rows of rooms. Curtains saggy, cobwebs on the table with the sink and several cigarette burns on the Formica floor in the phone booth sized bathroom. Warped walls and a door that looks like it's been through WW2. I really don't know how you get that many scratches and nicks on a door unless you drag it behind a truck.
I looked through the window at the rooms in the front near the office. They are the nicer and larger rooms. If I had known they were better at first, I'd have paid the upgrade money to be up there for my weekend here.
Although probably quieter in back. The Motel is located A block off the main road, so it's not that loud. And there are a couple fast food places and even a movie theater in quick walking distance. I haven't stayed at the Quality Inn in town yet - but if price is similar I'd go there next time.
- 225joanr (2/5): Stay somewhere else if you can - This motel looks ok from the outside. If you stay be sure to look at the room first. We did not want to shower here! The “breakfast “ is until 9. It’s not much. We just got coffee and couldn’t wait to hit the road.
I can’t recommend a stay here. Overpriced!
