• Marian (8/5): Totale rust en een prachtige locatie - Het is een heel mooi plekje ver weg van alles. We vonden het fijn om aan het meer te liggen. Onze kinderen hebben veel gebruik gemaakt van de kano’s. De eerste nacht waren er geen andere gasten, dan is het wel heel erg rustig en stil. In het dorpje ervoor aan de stroomversnelling ligt een lekker restaurant waar je goed kunt eten. Er zijn veel muggen en de mensen spreken alleen maar spaans, wat prima gaat maar soms wel even lastig kan zijn. Als je in de avond wil eten moet je ‘s middags even doorgeven wat je wil hebben. Ze maken alles lekker klaar en dienen het gelijk op als je aan tafel zit.

• Ivona (9/5): - Raňajky boli jednoduché ale chutné. Celý komplex je umiestnený v nádhernej prírode v blízkosti jazera. Je to veľmi tiché miesto, kde si užijete zvuky prírody. Kto požaduje komfort má k dispozícii malý bazén a rôzne lehátka s vankúšmi. Pre dobrodružnejšie povahy sú k dispozícii kajaky, s ktorými môžete objavovať krásne nekomerčné zákutia jazera. Chatka je zariadená vkusne a funkčne. Toto ubytovanie je vhodné pre tých, ktorí chcú zažiť skutočný dotyk s prírodou.

• Karen (2/5): L 5h1t ole….there are much better places to stay, for less. - We loved the peaceful location with beautiful lake. Well kept gardens and lots of interaction with nature. When we had water , shower was hot. Kayaks without holes in bottom were good. We were given 2towels for pool. Air-con was good and quiet. The bedside table polished on arrival. Fabulous sunset/sunrise. We had toilet roll! Firstly this is not a hotel. It is one step up from camping. On arrival , Our first hut, sheets were wet. It smelt of rotting wood , bannister on steps broke as I held it as wood so rotten. It had the noisiest floor ever , stained mouldy curtains and was absolutely filthy. Hanging area, no cupboard. Only one very bright light worked. No chance to read when hubby slept. Toilet flushed water all night..then we had no water, so no flush(had 2 go with torch to loo down in garden) no shower on a day we were up early to get booked boat at bacalar. On our return we were given a key, told to move our stuff to another hut. No help to move. No apology. In fact the lady appeared to give impression she was doing us a favour. This hut had dusty lamp hanging over bed that did not work? Broken shower tap to cut your hand on , was as filthy as last, had nails sticking out everywhere and smelt of sewage outside , which did not put the mozzies of. There was only 4 posts to hang clothes. But floor boards were quiet. Staff were abrupt and in flexible. We were the only guests there, all but one night. One morning we asked for coffee at 8am, it involved boiling a kettle as only Nescafé . They refused. We ate there 1st night. Not only do they not clean they can’t cook, since hubby was served with raw pizza that had taken an hour to make🤷‍♀️only wine , beer and warm water available. So if u want that cocktail by sunset view..forget it. Free breakfast is limited and not served till 8.30, so we missed out two , as our scheduled trips at Bacalar were almost two hours away.! Reception closes at 7pm unless someone eating. Internet only available outside reception. In 🇬🇧 I would report to trading standards, as nothing like as advertised. NB. We r well travelled around Mexico and I own a log cabin.

• Kirsten (7/5): Mooie plek, maar niet dicht bij Bacalar. - Mooie plek aan het meer met fijne chill ruimtes bij het zwembad, het meer en het restaurantje Het is ver van bacalar. Ik had dat niet goed ingeschat en we zijn na 1 nacht ipv 3 vertrokken. De eigenaar wilde daar niet in mee bewegen.

• Gwendolyn (9/5): Heerlijk verblijf met het complex letterlijk voor onszelf alleen. - Luxe hutten in prachtig onderhouden terrein met zwembad, hangmatten, ligbedden, loungeruimtes en kano’s inclusief. Airco, heerlijke bedden, goed afgesloten huisjes en luxe badkamers. Het ligt midden in de jungle met de bijbehorende fauna. Wel beperkte menukaart.

• Sarah (5/5): Not as advertised - The lagoon is peaceful and the staff are friendly. Our lodge had a lovely view. The property was not as it is advertised at all, hardly any of the facilities advertised are available (bar, spa). I think we would have enjoyed our stay a lot more had the property been advertised more honestly. The site is a good version of what it is - basic lodge living on a private lagoon with a homestay-feel kitchen, where the nice family who own the place will cook up something for you, and they may have some beers out back for you to buy too. What it isn’t is a place with a “restaurant” “bar” “spa”. No English is spoken and although the property advertises that it accepts card payments, it doesn’t - you need cash. The WiFi only works when you’re near the check in lodge, no signal in the rooms. We may have chosen to stay here anyway if the honest advert had been posted, but felt misled when we arrived expecting something entirely different.
• Jelle (8/5): Relax in a kind of jungle vibe - Next to the laguna. Free canoes. Beautiful garden and great breakfast with fresh fruit. Had a good deep tissue massage, For a good price. The bankterminal didn't work. We had a message about that, but saw it to late. Not enough cash in hand and the atm was a 45.min drive back. We did a wire transfer that cost us extra bank fees. Price vs rooms perfect without the extra cost.

• Fernando Maximiliano Gómez (6/5): - Mi esposa y yo íbamos a celebrar nuestro primer aniversario de esposos. Nos fuimos decepcionados de nuestra experiencia con el Hotel el Chital. Al llegar al hotel no había señalamiento que nos indicará en donde se encontraba la recepción. Esto nos llevo a recorrer el complejo varias veces. Después de caminar varios minutos, identificamos el restaurante donde nos recibió una señora. Las instalaciones se ve que carecen de manutención, más allá de la limpieza regular. Las sabanas de la cama parecían de cartón y el aire acondicionado, el cual se veía viejo poco enfriaba la cabaña. La regadera y el baño funcionaban bien. El lugar sólo tenía dos personas como personal y que carecían de experiencia en materia de hotelería. Quien recibe también cocina porque no hay chef. Esto no se nos comentó al momento de reservar, y a pesar de eso se cobraron los platillos como un platillo de restaurante. Se solicitó un viaje en bote por la laguna que colinda con el hotel, sin embargo nunca se nos informó el costo y al final este tuvo un precio demasiado alto para lo que representaba. El penúltimo día, nuestra idea era quedarnos en el hotel, pero el servicio de energía eléctrica se fue desde las 5am y volvió hasta tarde, por lo que nos vimos forzados a salir del hotel todo el día en busca de comida, ya que no se cuenta con planta de energía o paneles solares. Mi esposa paso un muy mal rato por esta situación, pues no logró dormir bien. En general nuestra estancia fue promedio/regular
• Karen (10/5): - The cabin was well-equipped, even luxurious, with a great view. Esmeralda, our cook and staff person, couldn't have been more helpful and kind. The grounds are peaceful with great bird watching. We kayaked every day and did yoga on the screened in porch. I was so happy we decided to pass by here! It was restorative and relaxing, with great affordable meals. Thank you!
• Dominik (9/5): Super nice in the middle of nature - Super nice place, perfect to spend some quiet and relaxing days with lot's of places to hang-out and chill. And while the location is remote and in the middle of the forest you feel very safe and there are various things to do in the place itself and the surrounding area, like kayaking or a biological station (Santuario del Manati) with Daniel the manatee. Last but not least the staff is very friendly and helpful.

• Einar (10/5): - The place is great to relax and be in touch with nature all the staff is amazing and they will definitely make your experience unique and you will feel like another member of the family, overall it’s a great place and there are so many things to do in the premises that you will hardly want to leave… if you are up for a drive and want to be in one of the nicest lagoons with not a lot of people around it’s definitely worth it… highly recommend it…
• Alex (4/5): Mexico's very own Fawlty Towers. - It's really cute and hidden away with so much potential. When we arrived we thought we had found found a secret gem, but it's really Mexico's version of Fawlty Towers. This is really overpriced for what is essentially glamping. I had a rusty broken lamp with no bulb in my room, no light shades, a tile fell off the bathroom sink, no water in the rooms, sheets feel sort of damp and sticky, nails coming out of the floor boards, no apparent security at night, mosquitos everywhere, broken parasols. When I mentioned these things to the manager he agreed that I had overpaid. When I told the owner she said 'I don't know why you are telling me these things'. I've travelled a lot in mexico and lived here for years. This hotel needs a lot of love and for the prices to be slashed. Also, once you are there, there is nothing but the little restaurant so when they run out, there really isn't anything. Also, I think the photos were probably taken a few years ago. Strangely, I had a peak in some of the other rooms and they didn't seem to be as bad as mine. So maybe I did something wrong on the way in!

You get a quarter of a banana and a very small sandwich. This is not breakfast included! This is where you are being misled as a customer. If you want more you have to pay extra. Be honest and do not offer breakfast included if you do offer a decent breakfast in return. And do not say it is continental breakfast because it is not.
• Benjamin (2/5): Not a pleasant stay, hotel desperately need improvement - The lake was nice and the staff were friendly, the pool was decent. The driver is very very sweet and the hotel was helpful in arranging pickup. Everyone tries their best. First of all, there is no cellular connection in the area whatsoever, and this makes the fact that there is no Wi-Fi in the rooms even more critical. Nobody of the staff speaks English, so it’s all google translate. Then there is the food witch is mediocre at best, it takes 1 hour for the restaurant to make food no matter what. They bring you the drinks right away, and then they have a hour to get nice and warm while you wait for your food. They constantly mess up the orders because they don’t speak English. The restaurant always ran out of stuff, then there was no more cokes, then no more bacon, then no juice. Furthermore my soda had bits of plastic in it and there where ants in my coffe. Speaking of ants the huts are full of ants after 10 minutes of leaving our bags on the floor in the room, they where crawling with ants. The water and the toilet smells of sewage, and the shower-head was dripping throughout our stay, so we went to sleep with a constant dripping noice. The AC is noisy and the room barely gets cold enough, so the night where warm. Our front door was broken, so we cloud not close the door proper. There are a total of 4 outlets in the room, 2 of witch does not work proper, there is only a ceiling light with shines something awful, no bed lamps or anything. The included breakfast consist of a pice of toast and a cup of coffee, so expect having to pay for additional breakfast.
• Kaitlyn (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was amazing and so kind and helpful! The restaurant onsite is done very well and has a nice variety of options on the menu. They have a continental breakfast included but have options to upgrade if you would like more food. Very well priced food too. The grounds has a pool, kayaks, paddle board to enjoy the lake, plenty of sitting areas to enjoy the outdoors. The cabins were basic, but cute with hammocks inside. Inside was clean, spacious, and the AC unit worked well if you gave it a little time to cool off the cabin (we were there at the end of May). The grounds are well lit at night. If you are looking for a place in the jungle to get away too, this is definitely an exceptional stay. We would definitely stay here again. They actually got WiFi and phone service (a little in and out) while we were staying there. But we enjoyed being disconnected from society for a few days. The road in from Chetumal has A LOT of pot holes and there is a mile of dirt road prior to the entrance. We were in a little car and it was a lot for the car. It would be worth driving through to get to the resort though, just the only negative I can think of.
• Newearthpi (10/5): Breath taking view, peaceful environment for being close to nature, my go t place! - This is a very peaceful environment. Unlike many other locations in mexico where you are constantly exposed to loud music, here is a peaceful. The owners and managers respect nature and they are taking care of this place with their heart and soul, and you can really feel the love and kindness of the staff. I go to this place to get away from the noise of Playa and I love it. The road to getting there can be a little rough about 10 min of rough rode but that's like any where in Mexico. Also having an AC in the restaurant and massage area by the lagune would be nice.

• Newearthpi (10/5): Exceptional - This place reminded me of a meditation retreat i used to go to called vipassana in California. The beauty of the water is impressive. the staff are kind and friendly. The place has a peaceful vibe to it. I can tell they have paid a lot of attention to small details to make this place look beautiful. It is truly quiet, which is a gem to me where most places are playing loud music. 1 During taking shower I could smell Sewage and it was kind of feeling disgusting. 2 The road to get there has a lot of bumps 3 The restaurant didn't have pancakes the last day, and they didn't have any deserts either. Overall it was wonderful I am just sharing how they can improve.

• Claudia Ileana (8/5): - Llegamos por error. Ahí es la Laguna de Guerrero y pensamos que el lugar estaba en Bacalar. En su anuncio dice que está a 26 mins pero en realidad es una hora a la Laguna de Bacalar y no hay transporte público. Hay que rentar auto o pedir taxi. Es ideal para quienes desean silencio puro y contacto con la naturaleza, pero lleven zapatos de agua porque entrar a la laguna descalzo es difícil por el fango. Hicimos kayak (en cortesía) y los atardeceres increíbles. El personal hace todo lo posible para que los huéspedes se la pasen muy bien. La comida increíble y las cabañas lindas pero austeras, sin amenidades. Lleven shampoo y demás cosas de baño. Tomamos las bicis (en cortesía) para ver al manatí Daniel (animal marino) a unos kms. Muy padre paseo. Lo recomiendo para desintoxicarse del ruido de la ciudad.

Staff and owner extremely friendly, food was great, pool was enjoyable, kayaks and bikes available at no extra costs. Hammocks and sitting areas in various throughout grounds. Cabins were clean and air conditioned. We didn’t find any issues.

There's almost no light pollution, the lagoon is fully surrounded by mangroves and you can hardly see any other constructions around the lagoon. The hotel's staff is very friendly and efficient, and the food is delicious.

• Maria de J (2/5): NADA RECOMENDABLE, PULGAS Y CHINCHES EN LA CABAÑA - Las cabañas estan Inadecuadas para la estancia, hay muchos insectos con los que ninguna persona desea dormir o estar. Cucarachas, Hormigas, Arañas, Chinches y pulgas, etc, hubo familiares que no pudieron dormir, solo de pensar en como corrían las Hormigas en las paredes. En los cuartos no hay jabón para bañarse, el agua del lavabo esta horrible, no se puede uno enjuagar la boca, sale poca agua para el excusado. El WiFi solo es el en restaurante, Decía que tenían tours, pero resulta que no porque su lancha esta descompuesta. el camino esta complicado y esta a 30 minutos de Chetumal, Lo único que rescatar en el desayuno y la amabilidad de los empleados. Dicen que La gerente casi nunca va por el lugar.

Cucarachas, Hormigas, Arañas, Chinches y pulgas, etc, hubo familiares que no pudieron dormir, solo de pensar en como corrían las Hormigas en las paredes. En los cuartos no hay jabón para bañarse, el agua del lavabo esta horrible, no se puede uno enjuagar la boca, sale poca agua para el excusado. El WiFi solo es el en restaurante, Decía que tenían tours, pero resulta que no porque su lancha esta descompuesta. el camino esta complicado y esta a 30 minutos de Chetumal, Lo único que rescatar en el desayuno y la amabilidad de los empleados. Dicen que La gerente casi nunca va por el lugar.

No había donde poner la ropa. Nos quejamos con el gerente y no hizo nada. Tuvimos que irnos por la distancia, la mala ubicación y el mal servicio

Odeurs nauséabondes, d'égout, au point de ne pouvoir dormir la nuit. Avons néanmoins dû payer 50% des nuitées non effectuées. Lagune impropre à la baignade.

• Verified traveler (10/5): - Endroit paradisiaque, j’ai tout aimé de cette endroit, si vous voulez vous reposer à travers une jungle à 25km de la ville au bout d’un petite route de roche (la plus proche est celle de Chetumal) sans aucun bruit et travers les oiseaux les petits lézards et iguanes. Le personnel est toujours là pour nous et sont tellement gentils . La nourriture est vraiment bonne !! nous y avons passé 4 jours de ressourcement et de détente en se faisant faire l’un de mon meilleur massage de ma vie . Avec la lagune est super chaude et l’eau super clair! J’y retournerai 1 semaine encore avec plaisir!
